BUG??: Torch turns on when screen is off and buttons hit in pocket (logs included) - OnePlus 5T Questions & Answers

Have been using Tugapower 6.0 and Flash Kernel as my daily and happened upon this issue for the second time, which also occurred on crDroid a few weeks ago.
This time I pulled some logs (attached) and wondering if a DEV or someone can take a look to see if it's truly a bug.
This hasn't been a huge issue, just more of an annoyance, and is difficult to reproduce.
Turned screen off
Put phone in pocket
Mashed some buttons when taking out of my pocket
Torch (flashlight) turns on but screen is black
Long press for torch = OFF (in button settings)
Prevent accidental wake-up = OFF
Ambient Display = OFF

Have you checked screen off gestures? That happened to me on LOS 14.1 and RR....thought it was a bug when it was just gestures.

"Draw M" was set for flashlight so I've removed it, along with all other screen gestures. Hopefully that was the culprit

Does this put the phone into sleep mode or just turn off the screen? Has it been tested on CM10?
EDIT: Installed the LITE version. Seems to work okay with cm10 but the sensitivity is too high. I cannot pull down my notifications menu without having the screen turn off. If my finger gets anywhere near the sensor, off it goes. I like the idea.

In pro version you can specify the speed of swipe too (using delay). However if you Want to continue using lite, and avoid this issue please try Cover and Hold option.
Pro has a lot more options to customize the behavior.

Just bought it... with mild regret.
I'm already having problems.
Sometimes if I happen to lock the screen with the power button and close the cover, it will think it's supposed to keep the screen on and do just that until I open the cover again.
Like this....
Screen on.
Lock screen, close cover.
Open cover, watch screen turn off.
Close cover, open cover, watch screen turn off again.
It's confusing itself somehow and within minutes of purchase I'm already annoyed.
Not going to refund though because the concept is perfect. Just please, PLEASE work out these issues ASAP.
---------- Post added at 04:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:29 PM ----------
Also, it just randomly locked the screen on me twice.
Pretty much out of nowhere, random locks. I wasn't anywhere near the sensor and I'm in a well-lit area.
---------- Post added at 04:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:31 PM ----------
Also, sorry for the triple post, but sometimes if I close my cover too quickly, the sensors won't register any change.
I'm sorry to say, but as of now, I'm deeming this app as broken. Still not going to refund because I have high hopes, but I hope OP can seriously deliver on this amazing idea.
Please, don't let me down.
It also will randomly lock the screen when I open the notification drawer. No clue why. I don't touch the sensors.

Thanks for the detailed feedback, are you seeing the same behavior when you use your hand instead of cover? Because sensors do behave funky with some covers.
I am not able to reproduce the steps you have listed on my phone. Can you try the same with your hand vs the cover?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717
Well it has to be the sensor, can u change the time out(increase it a bit) and see if that still happens?
So the sensor has to be closed for that duration to turn screen off.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717
One more thing, with the flip cover, pasting a piece of white paper where sensor is located helps in detection...

That must be it, because the sensors work flawlessly with my hand. There's nothing you can do in software to correct the issue?
It's almost like the proximity sensor doesn't read the flip cover because it's so thin... it's really weird.
Love your app! I tried the lite version and had to purchase the paid version.
Do you think at some point you could add the ability to control with Tasker?

Will be happy to incorporate it, do have any requirements in mind on features which would help?
I can think of start/stop service to start with.

Howdy.
Seems like I cannot use Hold to turn off (excellent for pocket mode) and two swypes to turn on together. Screen turns off, but phone ignores me to turn the screen on. Hold to turn on works.

Great app. Noticed the proximity sensor is running the entire time that the service is started. What type of battery drain would that cause?

Just downloaded Lite to give this a shot. I really like the idea. I'll run this for a day or two and share battery drain results. I'm only using screen off and screen on with my flip cover. Great APP!

Happens with few flip covers.. try pasting a piece of white paper on the flip cover where it meets the sensor... let me know how that goes...

:thumbup: Exaxtly what I was looking for. Now I can go back to Rootbox, before stock touchwiz was the only rom that allowed me to disable proximity sensor during calls. Aosp roms always would leave it on, and cause the screen to get stuck off until the other person hung up, or I somehow finagled to unlock the screen long enough to hang up. Thank you for this, you are awesome, Lol.

What would I set up to leave the screen on during calls?

Enable to option to let android handle the proximity sensor in calls then in the phones settings disable proximity sensor in calls...
TP.
Rootbox doesn't have that option. That's why I wanted to use this app. Guessing this app can't leave the screen on?
light sensor vs proximity sensor, in term of battery life, which is the best?
Hey I've got a question because I'm not sure if this is just me or if anyone has had this but whenever I have screen on set for 2 swipe, sometimes it feels like it actually takes 3 swipes to get it on. Sometimes when I do the 2 swipes the screen doesn't turn on so I do a third swipe, and that makes the screen come on but then it turns off again right away? Is there some sort of delay that I should adjust or is it all just in my head? Lol. I seriously love this app either way though and I was happy to donate because this app instantly covered every single problem that all of the similar apps had that I've tried. I'm SO glad I found this app!

it works like a charm...... awsome awsome app....
can u design a similar air gesture app for picking up calls..... like swipe and pick call on loudspeaker....
I found many apps in market none works properly Atleast for my HTC wildfire s...
proximity action works but it doesn't have option for picking up calls.... but comparatively your apps worked smoothly just add feature for picking up calls on swipe it would be a hit..!!!

Android Q double-tap-to-wake ambient display gone?

I upgraded to Android Q DP1 yesterday through OTA and noticed the double-tap-to-check-phone feature now always displays the full lockscreen including wallpaper. Same thing for lift-to-check-phone. In Pie, it used to show ambient display first when double tapped. I have the Always On Display disabled. Is this a bug?

Yes, the "Double-tap to check phone" and "Lift to check phone" options are still there, and when enabled those actions still wake the screen, but the wake behaviour has changed, which is what I'm wondering about. When woken, it now shows the full lock screen rather than the ambient display (black background and dark theme) that used to show up in Pie.

It's down to personal preference for sure. I wish they would've made that wake behaviour configurable if it's not a bug.
I wish the same too even in full 10 release they didn't change this behaviour
It's better to wake the ambient display than to wale the whole phone in case you need to check nots.
:good:
Hey all!
I am glad too see somebody else also noticed it. I absolutely adore the clean design and funcionality of Pixel's AOD, but the changed funcionality of double-tap to wake (from waking AOD to waking the whole screen) annoys me. I even rolled back from Q beta to Pie hoping they would not implement this change in stable release. Now in order to see AOD you need to have it on constantly, which actually drains some 1% battery per hour (that actually makes it some 15-20 over a working day's period and is actually quite substantial.), also during the night. I also don't stare at the phone all the time to need AOD all that time - a gentle tap to peek the time, weather and notifications is just enough - I see some of you would agree.
Is there any way we can appeal to Google similar to OnePlus's feedback section?
Hey, has it also become iOS like?
I hate whole iOS lock screen turning on. What a shame
I spent time factory resetting my phone thinking that the missing ambient display settings were a bug, I never thought Google would remove that functionality. The language under the "Lock Screen Settings" sounds similar, but they don't do the same thing since now it just wakes the entire screen. Real bummer that Google keeps removing features.
Yeah, it seem they went almost full iOS on this And it was so good: tap twice - AOD shows, tap twice again on that AOD - the lock screen shows. Why Google, why! At least give us an option to schedule when the AOD can be turned off automatically (like at some hours at night).
And to think I bought the Pixel just a week ago to finally taste the stock Android. It is good, no doubt here (and the phone size and general style is very refreshing from thos behemoths I used from Sammy, OP or Huawei), but OnePlus seems much more thoughtful and practicality-oriented. And what is the more important the pledges from the OnePlus community actually work quite often which I don't expect with Google somehow.
I'm fine with it. Not a big deal.

[NEW] aodNotify - Notification Light / LED for OnePlus Nord + No fingerprint visible!

This app was initially developed for Samsung Galaxy devices with Always on Display. As OnePlus devices will also get an Always on Display soon i decided to create a version specially for OnePlus devices. For now the app runs in a compatibility mode as the Always on Display has not been released yet. App is in beta stage currently.
You need a notification light / LED for your OnePlus Nord?
With aodNotify you can easily add a notification light / LED to your OnePlus Nord!
You can select different notification light styles and show the notification light around the camera cutout, screen edges or even simulate an notification LED dot in the statusbar of your OnePlus Nord or OnePlus 8!
This app hides the fingerprint icon, so the icon can not burn in your screen! Enjoy your notification light!
MAIN FEATURES
• Notification light / LED for OnePlus Nord or OnePlus 8!
• Double tap to wake when notification arrives!
• Charging / Low battery light / LED
MORE FEATURES
• Notification light styles (around camera, screen, LED dot)
• Custom app / contact colors
• ECO animations to save battery
• Interval mode (on/off) to save battery
• Night times to save battery
BATTERY USAGE PER HOUR ~:
• LED - 7.5%
• LED & INTERVAL - 5.5%
• LED & ECO ANIMATION - 3.5%
• LED & ECO ANIMATION & INTERVAL - 2.5%
Without notification light the app consumes almost 0% battery!
DOWNLOAD:
DEVICES
• OnePlus 8
• OnePlus Nord
• OnePlus 7 (untested)??
• OnePlus 6 (untested)??
NOTES
• The app is still in beta stage, errors may occur!!
• OnePlus may block this app with future updates!
• Please check if the app is compatible before updating phone software!
• Altough we never experienced any screen burn in issues on our test devices, we recommend to not keep the notification light / LED active for a long time! Use at you own responsibility!

Latest public beta (join directly from PlayStore) has experimental OnePlus Nord support.
Please reply if the camera cutout is working. You can do some fine adjustment in dimension settings. Will update the position if needed.
Thanks for testing!

Does the position need any correction? Or is it perfectly aligned?
I will adjust the presets then.
It was too low and too far to the left. Shape was bad too. These are my settings, it fits perfectly now.

errr .... I'm using this phone with the front camera outside of the screen, no hole in the actual screen, this oval **** drove me crazy.
when tried to set the ofsets to be around the cameras, the phone simply won't use the portion of the screen where the cameras are.
is there anything that can be done with that?

Did you join the beta program from Playstore, and updated to the latest beta? If so, clear app data and cache, and set values from my post, and you'l be fine.
I did, still can't move the ring outside of the screen.
Works like charm.. I just faced a small issue when in lockscreen.
It messes up the tap the screen to show feature in the ambient display. Only double tap works properly, single tap doesn't . Hope this gets fixed in the future updates.
Thanks for the efforts^_^!

Hi guys,
Everything that works in A10 (Q) works in A11 (R) and in some cases works better.
For example, we have 5GHz Hotspot back again after many years without..
I find A11 even faster than Pie. It is really smooth.
NOTE: use the latest TWRP and Magisk to be sure not to have any installation issues
Bugs:
1. We dont get the "bars" for the mobile/data network, but telephone/data works perfectly..
I havent had time to look into it yet, but I will try soon.
2. *There is one weird bug with Magisk*
When you install the apk, do not open Magisk, as it will ask you to reboot and it will keep bootlooping if you do that.
Instead, after installing the apk, just reboot the phone before opening the Magisk app and everything will be OK.
This is NOT a ROM issue.
3. For the first time restore via Google Setup, do NOT restore any Settings. It seems to break camera.
You can restore apps/sms/calls/etc, but not Settings.
This is an existing issue from A10 (Q) and honestly I do not know how to fix it..
Better to try and just avoid it

Same here I have made a clean install (v4.16 - 20220622), booted without any problem. But menus, status bar, notifications and original apps that come with stock installation etc. are lagging while scrolling like the friend just has said in 5-10 fps. Playstore-installed apps are smooth in most cases though not always.
I have turned back to havoc android 10 rom which is pretty OK.
Hope you can fix it, good luck with that.
I have a G4 H811 which has the last official LOS on it. (LOS 14.1 / Nougat)
Wanted to see if I could put something more modern on it, and _ideally_ with VoLTE support.
Any possibility of that?
I noticed this setting is included in the ROM:
HD/VoLTE Icon Toggle
Perhaps it gave me false hope.

Did you try msmXtended? I run msmXtended on my g4, so I don't have much experience with Havoc-OS, but I don't remember those issues.
But I definitely don't have those kinds of issues in msmXtended..
When menus, status bar, notifications and original apps that come with stock installation etc. are lagging while scrolling, does it last very long? Is it just for one or two seconds or does it last a lot longer?

Yes, I've tried msmXtended and you're right, it doesn't have the same issues but it doesn't fit to me unfortunately and don’t know why.
The lagging lasts forever, I have given it a double chance that I have used it with and without Gapps two days. It was an unbearable experience using it. Moreover, I have tried previous roms and they are the same.

The ones that v4.15-... but they've been removed from the server, so I can't see which ones they were but all of them have had the same issue. I've tried both UsU and normal ones. I don’t have any problems with any other ROMs. I really would like to try it for daily use.
Hope you ease with that.
Hi guys.
I have uploaded Havoc-OS with the July Security patch integrated.
The random slowness should be mostly fixed. Havoc-OS did not have the power profiles for our device in their source. I added them and it should be OK now.
Standard Changelog:
In the meantime I have updated the kernel.
Battery life should be improved as all services are now forced onto the "little cores". Previously they could be started on any of the 6 cores.
UI speed has been improved, so the overall experience should be better.
Whatsapp pairing has been fixed
Youtube/Instagram slowness issues have been fixed

I don't know if you ever got it sorted on your device, but I had same issue after installing it an hour ago.
Original post:
I went into Developer Options, and I noticed an option called:
Graphics Driver Preferences.
UPDATE:
I went into Developer Options, and did the following:
I set windows animation scale, transition animation scale, animator duration scale to 0.0
&
Enabled Disable HW overlays.
Though for some reason that HW overlays disables again each time I load up developer options.
I also re-enabled graphic driver preferences too.
Now it switching between windows pretty speedy

Just updated my previous post.
Using the latest build:
Havoc-OS-v4.19-20220805-h815-Unofficial.zip
It's a strange one, on some windows it would slide side to side fast but be slow on the up n down, then other things like pulling down menu from top of screen it would be slow and also trying to slide a notification either left or right would be in slow mode.
But since I altered a few things in developer settings which I've put as an edit in previous post, all seems to be working ok now.
Awesome rom by the way and ty so much for making it, truly appreciated.
