I just checked apparently my phone is the 2pw2100 021-A ...I know you could root it with 7.0.. but I updated as soon as I got the phone ...is there a way to root it still ?

i believe that means its oem locked to verizon, you would need to contact them about unlocking it but im not sure if verizon will, im in the UK but from what i hear verizon wont help much

You bought a Verizon variant. With Verizon models you can't check "oem unlock" so you can't unlock the bootloader. You are stuck with a locked phone. No root.

XT1952DL ?

The XT1952DL G7 Play is called "Optimo" by Straighttalk, (ST) & Total Wireless , and "Revvlry" by T-Mobile.
I have the ST version; the bootloader is locked with the "OEM Unlock" option (in Developer Options) greyed-out. And, the mobile network is locked to ST/Verizon.
I own the phone (not blacklisted) but haven't had it long enough for ST to give me an unlock code.
Is there ANY way to unlock this XT1952DL???
Thanks, Will C.

Basically any Moto or phone in general from Verizon or att cannot be bootloader unlocked as the mentioned carriers do not allow it
XT1952DL - SIM unlocked
I got the SIM unlocked on my ST Moto G7 Optimo.
'Was locked to StraightTalk (VZW), but now works fine with a GSM (At&t mvno) sim card.
However, the bootloader is still locked down tight!
Would love to get rid of that ST/TracFone firmware!

I was able to unlock it. Find usb unlock for Optimo Xt-1952. They log remotely on the phone to unlock it.
Great find, I googled that and have to say I was unsure but gave it a go. I have a Tracfone version that was on Walmert Family Mobile, tried to put my Canadian sim in but didn't get any unlock prompts, took it to an unlocking service but they couldn't do anything with it.
Read you post and googled it and they managed to unlock it on the 2nd attempt, great service was all done within 30 mins of contacting them, like you said bootloader is still locked but nothing much I can do about that.
Unlock
So I've Google what you posted about you unlocking your phone & can't find anything , I have a straight talk "tracphone" would love to unlock, is there anything thing u can tell me to help me do so

OEM unlocking greyed out

My wife brought me this phone from eBay. The guy made out he was in London when in fact he was based in Singapore. Anyway tried to unlock the bootloader and it is greyed out. I've read sometime a Verizon phone locks the bootloader so it can't be modified. How do I find out if I have this kind of phone or what do I need to do to enable the OEM unlocking function.
If the OEM UNLOCKING is grey, you pretty much have your answer.
There are two kinds of "locked" that describes Carrier phones.
1) locked to only be used on that carrier's network
2) locked to keep the bootloader from being unlocked and the device rooted
Yours is likely only #2 above, as I believe VZW doesn't #1 lock their 4G/LTE devices any more...
There is also a way to check the model number, I think, that confirms it is a Verizon locked (unable to unlock the bootloader) variant, but I don't recall that process.
Thanks for your help

Hi, you can unlock the carrier by reflashing the OS on the phone. PM me if you have further inquiries.

Really? Just got in contact with the seller and he will unlock it with EE.
But can you flash the pixel on locked bootloader? and it will get rid of carrier lock as well?
.
Yes, it gets rid of the carrier lock and it changes to the International version. Though there is another way you can unlock it and that doesn't require flashing the phone.

That requires paying for an unlock code for the phone, they are usually between 5 to 8 US$.

I would not trust this muhammad guy as he is using "sim unlock" language interchangably with device lock. If it is a verizon locked device with OEM unlock greyed out, it is my understanding there is no way to ever fix that. Verizon is the one that implemented that lock, they will not help you unlock it, even if you tell them you are a developer. They tell you to get a google pixel phone directly from google for developer purposes.
having your phone "sim-unlocked" is very different from the device being unlocked.
v12xke said:
If you have already 100% WIPED your phone, skipped through setup and gone straight to dev settings with an active Wi-FI signal and get a greyed out OEM unlock , you will likely never succeed because you inadvertently purchased a bootloader locked phone. SIM unlocked definitely does not equal BL unlockable.

But if it is a Verizon version that was able to be OEM Unlocksd and flashed to LOS like I have done, it is now unlocked? Somehow I was lucky in being able to enable OEM unlock on mine.

That largely depends on if you have a "google" or "verizon" variant device. If you can enable OEM unlocking in developer options, then you should be able to unlock the bootloader.

First, make sure that you can enable "OEM unlocking" in the developers options settings section. If you can, then unlocking the bootloader and installing roms is not that difficult provided you have a good understanding of how fastboot works:good:

Go here and enter your IMEI: https://www.verizon.com/od/prepaid/bring-your-own-device/#/checkDevice
It will tell you if it's a Verizon device, or a "NON-VZW" device

My phone is not a Verizon variant (NON-VZW), however it was bought from Verizon and cannot be unlocked. Is there any way around that? (Since Verizon says and several other IMEI checkers don't say it's a Verizon only variant).

For me, it's kinda difficult to identify now as there is no app or setting from Verizon on it, tired checking it on Verizon but their IMEI checking page is down. If yours is non Verizon, unlock oem shouldn't be grayed out by default. I'm not expert on it thoug.
I bought a NON-VZW phone and enabled OEM unlocking, but after I put my Verizon SIM and an update happened, it got grayed out before I could unlock the bootloader. Is there any way to put it back on older software? It is still marked as NON-VZW in the IMEI thing.

Maybe try taking the SIM card out, factory resetting and then see if you can enabled OEM unlocking and USB debugging. If so then unlock the bootloader before putting the SIM back in. Won't put you back on an older software but may allow you to unlock the bootloader.

Is the bootloader unlockable (US Variant)??

Does this mean that features like wifi calling and HD voice and advanced calling that are locked to carriers such as Verizon can now be used when the bootloader is unlocked?
The only reason I'm not unlocking the bootloader yet is because we don't have factory images available. No factory images, no root
1) Just having "Enable OEM unlocking in Developer Options doesn't mean you can unlock the bootloader. You still need the key.
2) This model isn't in the list of unlockables on motos site where you can request the unlock key.
3) Even if you were able to get the key, according to Moto unlocking the bootloader will void warranty. You have to agree to that when requesting unlock keys from them.

Thanks for reminding us of the risks some of us have been taking since the days of JesusFreke baking ROMs for the HTC Dream!
By the way, someone uploaded the firmware for a few variations of this device. Make sure yours matches up with the one listed before flashing any baked-up boot.img

I think in order to use that on Verizon, the Verizon network has to support the phone. It's more of a network issue than a phone issue.
I can also confirm that the Sprint / T-Mobile variant is bootloader unlockable out of the box, I'm unsure about the AT&T variant.
I've been told from a few people that the razr 5g is not supported on Verizon's network. The 5g antennas will not work with verizon. If you do unlock the bootloader I'm sure you will still have wifi calling and hd voice, but hd voice is not a problem as long as you still have 4g lte. People on Verizon for now is stuck on the first razr

Mine works perfectly fine on verizon as if it were a 4g device, no 5g connectivity and I'm not too sure about the wifi calling as I never use it but otherwise even without a bootloader unlock it functions perfectly.
