Volte? - Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact Questions & Answers

Anyone using volte on the XZ2 Compact? I noticed my lte+ drops to H during calls so it appears it is not working. I don't see an option for it either in my settings. Using the duel sim version.

I am using it, normally if you do not have a setting for it, then it means that your carrier do not support it for the phone model you are using, or it is not activated for your number.
I have the setting but have no status icon for it, so I wrote to Sony who said it is the carrier who decides if a status icon should be shown. And they explained that when calling someone the call screen will write VoLTE if the call is using VoLTE, and my does [emoji3]

Your device needs to be certified for VoLTE use with your carrier and needs to have the proper OEM.sin file flashed to it if it does in fact support it.
At this time in the USA, only Verizon is certified for use with VoLTE. T-Mobile support may be coming in a future update and AT&T will never be supported.

Why in the hell does the XZ1 Compact support T-Mobile VoLTE, but the XZ2 Compact does not. W.T.F. /rant

Any updates on VoLTE on T-Mobile?

Any updates? I want to use it on T-Mobile and no VoLTE would mean that I have to look for a different phone. Don't want a repeat of the horrible experience I am having with my Z5C

How to Get VoLTE in HTC 820 Dual sim ?

Hello There ,
I want to Active VoLTE in my HTC 820 Dual Sim Taiwan . I bought this from online and using it in india now i want to use 4G Jio its need VoLTE for high speed internet . so someone help me how to get VoLTE on my HTC 820 ? if i update to Android 6 or install any custom rom will get VoLTE ?
There are no options for that currently....
Hi, Mine is 820 from china bought online.
Does mine support VoLTE?
AFAIK, NONE of the 820 variants are able to get VoLTE. As if the hardware does support this feature, I don't think HTC has the time to put their engineers on this old toy again rather then their holy HTC 10.

First of all i would like to say that the full form of "VoLTE" is "Voice over LTE".
HTC Desire 820 dual sim has 4GLTE and Reliance jio sim will use this 4GLTE of the phone to provide high speed data and voice and video call over LTE network.
I am going to purchase the jio sim today and report back after its activation (may be 2 or 3 days later) whether HTC Desire 820 dual sim indian version can support the VoLTE.

HTC Desire 820 dual sim supports JIO Sim as it is having LTE and for using VOLTE you can install "Jio Join" app from Play Store that will help in making Voice Over LTE calls.

Htc 820g plus jio support
I've been trying to get this Jio compatibility with HTC 820g plus for quite some time now and in vain. Almost tried and have consumed every trial methods I found in google. In MTK settings, I'm unable to use the 4g options. It jus stays put at WCDMA/GSM in the preferred network option and I can't change it. And there's no network when I insert the Jio sim. Airtel 4g works though. So I know the phone's compatible but dunno what I'm doin wrong. The sim is already registered and works perfectly fine on other handsets though.

4G LTE and VoLTE are different. Any 4G handsets will work with Reliance Jio SIM for data application. But reliance jio uses HD voice for voice calling. So handset need to support for Voice over LTE feature. Idea and Vodafone 4G is different, they are using the conventional system.. In case your 4G handset does not support VoLTE, then you can install Jio join app for voice calling. Some users find it difficult in this method and complaining call drops. Also data need to enabled for voice calling. Reliance Jio uses 850, 1800 and 2300 frequencies for the services

Does wifi calling and Volte TMobile works on the device? I'm planning on buying one soon I just wanna know

Not on T-mobile in the US.
I've seen some people who say it does and some who say it doesnt. I have AT&T and no VoLTE, but it might not be enabled with my carrier yet (I just opened the account less than one month ago).
I have the Verizon version and I don't get wifi calling or VOLTE.
Doesn't bother me as I'm always best wifi.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not for T-mobile. I called T-mobile and they blamed Motorola. I called Motorola and they blamed T-mobile. Maybe WiFi calling in a future update. I have my "enhanced calling via LTE" setting checked but haven't seen the VoLTE icon ever pop up. I've always had volte on my other phones. So I know it's available in my area.
VoLTE should work on T-Mobile. Both the unlocked MOTO Z and MOTO Z Play have been certified by T-Mobile. You won't see a VoLTE icon in the menu. However you can check it by making a phone call and if the phone stays on LTE you know its working. VoLTE probably will not work on the Verizon version of the phone but only on the unlocked model.

You would think that Motorola would see it in their interest to support wifi calling on T-Mobile. It would certainly make the MOTO Z more attractive to T-Mobile users. Other unlocked phones from Google, Samsung, Apple, and HTC support both VoLTE and wifi calling on T-Mobile. In spite of this Motorola shows no interest in supporting this.
Volte on tmobile yes no Wi-Fi caling
I am a windows 10 mobile user on AT&T, and know that the device itself has a lot to do with VoLTE being active. What on the Moto Z Play enables/provisions/or is missing for VoLTE/Enhanced LTE to function (files\binaries\etc..). VoWiFi is seperate from VoLTE I thought...correct?
I ask since I recently purchased one of these to have an Android around the house too.

No 5G option EE UK

Hey everyone,
So I've got myself the S20 plus G9860 which I believe is the Hong Kong variant, 5G dual SIM etc.
I've noticed I don't have the option for 5G under connection settings.
I'm using EE and have a 5G plan in the UK
EE have dismissed me by saying it's the phone and it being a international model.
Any ideas?
I also don't have the option for e-sim which again is very weird!
Please help
Did you try to factory reset with the ee simcard in the phone? It will setup the phone on uk csc.
I'm not sure if 5g functionality is csc restricted or not.. But if it is this will do the trick.
Sent from my SM-G985F using Tapatalk
you need to be very careful - 5G spectrum is different for each variant based on the market is released - so phones that might have 5G in USA or ASIA will not work in 5G in Europe and viceversa as each country uses different spectrums, unlike 4g - and the phones only support the ones in the markets they are released!
I have SM-G986B/DS mine is dual sim both normal sims and laso has 5g on both sim slots

Tried a factory reset and still nothing, same options appear.
I checked the supported bands prior to buying this phone and it supports N78 for EE in the UK.
Is there a secret menu or something I can confirm it actually has 5G and its just disabled?
then maybe get in touch with EE maybe you need a new sim or your plan doesnt have 5g enabled on it

As mentioned in my original post, I have a 5G plan and EE have dismissed me as soon as they heard it's a non UK model, stating it's the phone and not them!
Silly question but would I need to be in a 5G area for this option to show? Or is the 5G option always there regardless
5g is always an option I'm on 02 with a 5g sim however where I live isn't 5g but in connection settings it still shows 5g

Are you using the exynos variant or Snapdragon?
Try going to phone dialer app, enter the code *#2263# and tell us what is the options..
From here try selecting the one with 5G for the appropriate sim slot and see if it works..
Try to choose 5G with 4G since 5G coverage is not that good.
Mine is exynos s20+ 4G model so mine doesn't have 5G available. Yours may be different.

Which dual sim ultra version covers AT&T 5G bands?

I need a dual sim device but all of them seem to miss band 30 which is important on ATT. Some of the dual sim are 4G only. Some also have 5G but does anyone know if those 5G bands are the same as the 5G that ATT uses? If so, which exact model?

I am not sure which version support AT&T 5G but from this website(if the information correct) https://www.techwalls.com/samsung-galaxy-s20-model-number-sm-g980-g981-differences/
Hongkong/Taiwan/[China] - Snapdragon support the same network as US model.
There are 2 dual SIM version.
1. International - Asia + Middle east
2. Hongkong/Taiwan/[China]
if you buy the phone from oversea eSIM might be disabled so many people are having this issue.
But why you need dual SIM when you can get eSIM if you buy US version.

Being on lockdown due to corona virus, I'm getting lazy.
Go Google all the frequencies AT&T operates on.
Go Google all the frequencies the variants of s20 you are interested in.
If all the frequencies uses by AT&T is supported then it's fine.

No US Galaxy devices support eSim. The main US service providers have squashed it. Only iPhone and a couple of other devices can activate eSim in the US.

Maybe you must wait for some firmware update. In my s9+ , voLTE only start working after one year [emoji2361]

There is no issue with 4G and there were no issues with 4G phones. If they had the suitable bands, they could connect to any 4G network worldwide. But with 5G constructors had the good idea to enable only specific carriers...

In my s9+ the firmware works better in swiss is the Brazilian ZTO... my was from Hongkong and change.

Same here. I bought a G9860 from Hong Kong and 5g it s not working, it s showing but I cannot connect. In Sim 2 I have SD card. Maybe we have to wait for June upgrade. Or maybe somebody have solution?
I like to list this device to my cacombos.com website so everyone can check supported 4G bands and combinations but i need modem log file. Here is instruction how to get log file: https://mt-tech.fi/en/how-to-get-4g...ons-from-your-android-phone/#Qualcomm_devices and you can send log then to: https://cacombos.com/contribute .
If you can connect phone via diag you can then export carrier_policy where could see how 5G is enabled.
