Wow, amazing work!!

Great job Is it official Magisk working on gsi or any modified one?

In first step, "Flash the Cardinal-AOSP Treble " I have problem when I try to flash in TWRP, some errors, and I stopped.

Try to do some actions and it worked perfectly ?

Maybe you are using an outdated firmware and the modem version check fails. The minimum required is 8.4.12.

Why Error 7
I use twrp3.2.1

Update your firmware. ?

Hello, first of all thanks for your work!
I need some help with the step "Flash a Generic System Image in system partition (amr64, A only)". What exactly should I do?
Thanks

After downloading any of the System Images in forum linked by OP you just go into TWRP, select Install, switch to img install (bottom right corner) and flash image onto system partition from selectable menu.

Thanks, but I was just a bit unsure of what file should I download, since I never done this.
For example, I should choose:
system.img for A-only ARM64 devices with GApps and SU
or
system.img for A-only ARM64 devices vanilla
?
Also, On the flashing instructions it doesnt refer to install gapps, but they are not included in the rom right?
So, if I install the ROM, gapps and flash Magisk for Root I should flash the file "system.img for A-only ARM64 devices with GApps and SU" ?
EDIT: So there is no need to flash cardinal ROM now? Just the new build? I'm a little confused with the installation steps...

02.05.2018 build:
- Moved listen_platform_info.xml to /vendor
- Merged changes from LineageOS
Download build

I have 8.1.4 from Pixel experience. I'll try Friday night...

Hello again. I tried to flash the treble_scorpio file on the provided twrp but I'm getting "Updater process ended with ERROR: 7 Error installing zip file (...)"
What should I do?

I don't know what can I say more... On twrp, after I do the wipes, when I try to flash "treble_scorpio-20180502-1503.zip" file it shows a red text saying:
"Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
Error installing zip file 'sdcard/treble_scorpio-20180502-1503.zip' "
I can try to flash it again and take a photo if it helps
thanks

The next time you should read carefully the OP, becouse the firmware requirement is stated there.

Great work, @Psy_Man.
Which one of the Generic System Images do you recommend if I want something stable rather than configurable?
Also, being the system images 'A only' that means that the seamless update is still not possible, right?

AromaGapp not working in TWRP
TWRP not working in Aroma Gapp need fix (Aroma is best for me since i can customize install & will not replace CM stock files/app)
In the previous post, i was able to install twrp but i found out on many trial and error that open gapp aroma/full doesn't work both on cm12.1 and cm13.0 using TWRP. Also cm13.0 recovery will not work with open gapp aroma/full.
What works: (haven't tried all version)
On TWRP - i was able to use arm64-pico-6.0 on cm13.0 20160130
On CM Recovery - arm64-aroma-5.1 on cm12.1 20160107
This is based on my experience with the HELP of the awesome people in the forum. I just want to let you know and maybe it will be useful to other noobs like me

The .img file can be flashed by fastboot.
The zip file by any non stock recovery
and yes I do know the image file is contained in the zip but some people may not

Yes i downloaded the zip file, extracted the recovery.img then flashed by fastboot. I am used to using fastboot commands
So the zip file would function as an update file via a non stock recovery, however once installed would replace the non stock recovery with twrp version!

This ROM is encrypted by default. However it can be disabled by flashing this zip https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B86MMdsJ-sNgenZuaHViX1pkSzQ/view?usp=sharing
Its recommended that you use this twrp : https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634801490 as the official twrp in my experience has /data mounting issues.
For root use magisk: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/beta-magisk-v13-0-0980cb6-t3618589

FEATURES
File-Based Encryption (FBE) support
EXT4 support
F2FS support
EXFAT support
Provides unzip
Additional languages
This recovery will use the security patch level from the system partition to decrypt data. It should not be tied to a security patch level anymore.
DOWNLOAD
Make sure you download the .img and corresponding .asc.txt file (see INTEGRITY)!
You can always find the latest version of the recovery HERE.
INTEGRETY
The recovery images also come with an GPG armor file (.asc). With that file you verify that the image I created hasn't been altered.
How do you do that?
Download my gpg keyring here: https://cryptomilk.org/gpgkey-8DFF53E18F2ABC8D8F3C92237EE0FC4DCC014E3D.gpg.
Download the recovery.img and recovery.img.asc.txt file
Rename the recovery.img.asc.txt file to recovery.img.asc
Verfiy the signature using the following command:
Code:
gpg --keyring ./gpgkey-8DFF53E18F2ABC8D8F3C92237EE0FC4DCC014E3D.gpg --verify recovery.img.asc
A good tutorial is: How to verify signatures for packages from the Tor Project.
SECURITY ADVICE
Don't flash ROMs or Magisk modules which set SELinux to permissive or you welcome malware on your device!

What does the STOCK addition in the title mean?
Can't I flash for example LOS with it?
Nice work! So does that mean that we finally can root our xz1 compact?
And currently this TWRP is not working for security patch November, right? I mean build nr: 47.1.A.5.51

If the LOS I want to flash comes with the same security patch level, would it work?

I will indeed test too juhuuu...
it flashes okay via fastboot, and twrp is also working. except for format option under wipe, when typing 'continue' it seems like it doesn't show the inputs, only the last letter 'e'
anyway after i flashed the twrp, i booted it up, and mounted everything except for otg. and then of course i flashed magisk.zip (latest v14) and it also succeeded
but then when i reboot from twrp, it stucks at sony logo, meaning default bootanimation doesn't kick in, and i patiently waited for like 10-15 min
so i assume it's not working. i even tried with a userdebug and regular user build 47.1.A.5.51
now i will try just to boot the twrp without flashing it and then flash magisk.zip while it's booted up via fastboot to see if it boots up normally
a) Do you have your partition encrypted and could you mount it, so it asked for a password?
b) TWRP writes a log file you can download adb pull /tmp/recovery.log
c) adb logcat is also working
Note that there is currently no upstream TWRP developement for Oreo ongoing. I just wrote several hacks to get it working.

A: it does not ask for password upon bootup so i guess it's not encrypted in that way
B attached here
C is there any specific logcat you want, like error or fatal level etc.
Question just to be clear: do we have to update twrp for evry new securitypatch?
To decrypt the /data partion on a stock ROM, yes you do.
Hi modpunk,
Ur a true star...****
I just want to ask a couple of question's.
Does the bootloader have to be unlocked in order to flash this....?
I have had a Z3 Compact and got it rooted with bootloader locked and also a Z5 Compact using munjen setup.
Install TWRP on it Flashed SuperSU using TWRP was best thing i did.
Do you have a step by step guide how to flash this. I would love to test it for you.
When you flash is it using munjen flashtool...?
Thanks Sham
UPDATE
TRWP is working actually, just figured out that it's magisk that get the phone not to boot, bith 14 and 14.5
and latest supersu both the xperia one and the regular one v.2.82 fails, give error "unzip fail, no proper recovery etc."
Now for fun i will load it up with userdebug firmware and see if i can make it manually root with the "angela" method

It's common sense if a ROM is above 1gb then it definitely have gapps

Flashing Instructions
Pre-installation
T-Virus (Download here)
TWRP (Download from here)
NikGapps (Download from here)
First time installation
Backup your device data to a PC or OTG flash drive.
Flash T-Virus with NOST and reboot to recovery.
Download and copy crDroid and TWRP zip to the Internal Storage and flash them in that order.
Format userdata and reboot to recovery to swich to the updated slot.
Flash NikGapps and wipe the Dalvik Cache (or else the system will not boot).
Reboot to system and enjoy.
Installing from previous release
Backup your data to PC, OTG flash drive.
Reboot to recovery, copy crDroid and TWRP zip to the Internal Storage and flash them in that order.
Reboot to recovery to swich to the updated slot and flash Gapps.
Reboot to system
Troubleshooting
When flashing the ROM in TWRP, it fails at Step 2
To fix this, flash any TWRP >= v2.4 which contains a fix for slot switching
After flashing TWRP v2.x the folders have weird names and I cannot copy stuff to the internal storage
You forgot the format userdata before rebooting.
The GSI in T-Virus is A10 and uses software encryption. My TWRP builds use hardware based decryption blobs which
are incompatible with software encrypted userdata. My ROM uses hardware encryption so that is not a problem.
But when you do not format data and install TWRP v2.x then it cannot decrypt the userdata created by A10 GSI.
So always format data before installing TWRP v2.x releases

T-virus of yourself (2020) I believe... Correct me if I'm wrong.
You can use any T-Virus you like. My own though contains an updated TWRP version which supports ROM flashing. If you use any older one, it is necessary to flash my new TWRP releases before you atempt to flash the ROM.

Just tested on my phone, and Magisk works fine without causing any bootloops. What version are you flashing? You need to use version v21.0 and higher which supports Android 11

It is most probably a hardware problem with your device. All of my testers never reported Wi-Fi/SIM issues except Dual SIM. Does Wi-Fi work for you on stock ROM or in any other ROM?

I recommend downloading the most recent version from the official releases: https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases
New release is up! Download from here: https://github.com/GPUCode/android_device_nokia_nb1/releases/tag/v7-2
* VoLTE really works now
* Built in userdebug mode so the system should feel more responsive
* Fixed the in-call echo bug
* Play Store works now

Nokia 8 hardware is unique. It's Google that differentiate them. So, yes.
Excellent work, but the play store does not install apps larger than 500MB (if it "downloads", but does not install), I tried reinstalling nikgapps, clearing cache and google app data and nothing.
