Native SIP client issues - Nokia 6.1 (2018) Questions & Answers

Hi All,
I have the following issue with the native SIP client:
- in outgoing calls, I hear the other part intermittently, others can not hear me at all
- in incoming calls, everything works fine
The problem exists only in the native ("Phone" app) SIP client, which I still prefer to use. Other apps, such as CSipSimple work fine. Other phones with the same native client (LineageOS though) worked fine as well.
I have a feeling this may be due to UDP issues in SIP.
Anyone faced this?

Yes, I find myself in the same situation with my Nokia 6.1 - seems like a problem with their 8.1.0 build:

Nokia's native sip client is useless at this time.

Sip Client for Galaxy S

Has anyone found a sip client that can read the address book in the Galaxy S? I've tried linphone and sipdroid, but no luck so far.
You can try aSip.
3CX works on the nexus one.
Does anybody knows how to extend the SIP Registration timer on SIPDroid. It looks to me it is too short (30s?). Is it possible to set it to be longer or disable it?

SIPdroid can replace the standard dialer though, so all outbound calls are SIP when SIPdroid is open. Is that appropriate (not that it matters, because all voip software seems to use the loudspeaker still).

That's the problem I'm having... all the SIP software seems to route calls through the loudspeaker. Annoying.

On the i7500, the community hacked together a special voip kernel (with audio routing or whatever) to work around this I think..
Nimbuzz also does SIP and reads the address book.
Is somebody who tried Voip Sip client from VoipSwitch ? Could be interesting since it does support G729 audio data compression algorithm.
I also managed to use at a decent level SipDroid application. Here I have a problem in the sence that when I received a call, it rings but after I answer I do not hear anything.
Some opinions please ? Thank you !
Fring?
Try Fring?
I find CSipSimple works fantastically.

SIP with Android 2.3.4

Hi all
I'm a happy user of a HTC desire under Android 2.2...
SIP ( SIPdroid ) is working great and i have no problems with SIP calls!!
I have tried another (AOSP) Rom ( MIUI 1.6.5) under Android 2.3.4 in which the whole SIP layer is ( under my uinderstanding...) native, hence supposedly no need for an extra SIP client.
I have configured my SIP account, the way i've always done but I've been unable to make a SIP call.
hence the question, is SIP working under Android 2.3.4 ?
has this been already checked ?
thks for clarification
yup, I've tried native SIP calling under Android 2.3.3 and it is working great! The only problem is you can only register to your SIP account using Wi-Fi (no 3G for now)...
I think some dev's are working around that problem but I do not know for sure...
hi redsmith
Still stuck with native SIP but I found a CSIPSimple client on the market who works great with A 2.3.4...
So there is a solution !!!
Over all you can say SIP works but the native client is not really good or even in a kind finished for the "wild".
One big thing: it doesn't want to auth at a new call -.-
If you want to start a call it thinks one auth at the start is enough but for most SIP servers this isn't true.
Wow, did not notice the native SIP support!
I am using CSipSimple on the Reflex S ROM, but I will give the native on a try...

[Q] Blocking Mode Wont let Any SIP/VOIP calls Through

So I finally got my first Android device and I managed to set up my SIP accounts via SGN2's native SIP client. I can make/receive calls without a problem over WiFi and 3G - I'm happy with my unlimited calls
I'm a big Call/SMS Blocker fan. All my phones has an app installed that blocks ALL unwanted calls/SMS/MMS. So I was happy when I found out the N7100 has a built-in call blocker feature.
It does it's job, ok. BUT, it blocks ALL incoming SIP calls even though I set the settings to custom and added all my contacts with VOIP/SIP numbers to the 'Allowed' list.
The problem somehow lies in the way 'Blocking Mode' filters incoming calls.
All my SIP calls has this pattern [username]@[IP Address] - ex [email protected]
So, even though I already added the SIP numbers with the IP details in my contacts' 'Internet Call' field and the 'Allowed Contacts', the calls are still blocked. It appears only phone numbers aren't filtered out by the Blocking Mode
Is there any solution to this?
Thank you for your time and inputs
My SGN2 N7100 on stock firmware (no plans of rooting for the time being).
I'm guessing you've already verified that what the incoming number looks like matches what you have for their sip address?

Thank you for the reply.
Yes. I tried including all the details in my contact, from the default number to what it looks like when I receive a SIP call.
Normally SIP calls would show in the screen as: SIP[email protected]
The number is still blocked.
Interesting. I'm sorry I have no answers for, and I asked as I do not have any voip set up yet. I was suspecting your voip provider may have sent a base trunk address rather than the originator.
If you find a resolution, please let us know!

that might be your carrier. Who may not allow VOIP calls. e.g Skype does not let KaKaoTalk run voip calls on their 3g network etc etc

I was talking about the built in 'Blocking Mode' in the SGN2.
As stated in my initial post, I have no problems making/receiving calls over WiFi AND 3G.
The issue isn't network related. VOIP calls will go through just fine IF I DISABLE the Blocking Mode feature (i.e. allow all calls)

[Q] How can I make a third-party SIP app act like the native dialer

Here's the issue: I have a N7 2013 LTE which I've unlocked/rooted. I've enabled SMS and installed the Google Dialer. Everything works well; I can send/receive SIP calls via the dialer and I can even answer calls with my Bluetooth headset because the SIP calls received by the Google dialer are perceived as actual phone calls by Android.
This falls apart when I want to use a third-party SIP/VoIP app. I can answer native SIP calls with my Bluetooth headset (a double-tap on the headset for the Jawbone ERA), but can't do so with a third-party app. I'm guessing that's because calls answered by the Google dialer are seen as real phone calls whereas those answered by a third-party app are media events, so the Bluetooth headset isn't notified of an incoming call. This even happens with CSipSimple set to integrate with the native dialer.
CSipSimple is a great app, but it suffers the fate of any app when left in memory too long: it gets kicked out. I can watch the SIP registration status at my SIP provider's website while CSipSimple is running in the background. CSipSimple stays registered for a while, then the status switches to disconnected. If I disable CSipSimple, the native dialer registers with my SIP provider and stays registered.
Can anyone confirm or deny any of this? Is there a way to have a third-party SIP/VoIP app act like the Google dialer? Or am I stuck with the native dialer?
Huh. Currently 117 views and nobody has an answer.
The Google dialer is fine, albeit a bit ugly, but it doesn't do landscape amongst other things. It would be great if I could replace it with CSipSimple or one of the many other SIP apps out there. I know I can use any app I like, but the issues in my first post preclude me from doing that. The native dialer stays registered with my SIP provider at all times. It also works well with my Bluetooth headset, allowing me to answer calls without having to touch my N7.
Anyone?

[Q] Any SIP/VOIP client working for T700

Has anyone found a SIP/VOIP client, dialer that works on a rooted default OS? I have both a Note 8 and Tab S T700 and on the Note I have 3CXPhone configured and working with a Vonage SIP acct. but when I try to use the same APK and profile on the T700 it crashes when trying to register... Other SIP clients that don't require the Native Android SIP stack don't crash but fail to register. It 'feels' like a possibly a firewall type of issue but I can't be sure so any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.
[A] CSipSimple Works!
3CXPhone which is no longer available crashes But Latest CSipSimple works as long as you configure it right I had been thinking I was translating the Password from the 3CX .profile but messed up the zero vs. Cap Ohh !
