How to Save more battery in mi max - Xiaomi Mi Max Questions & Answers

Hello everybody,
-I have bought lately used mi max 32GB (Hydrogen) on miui 9.5.2 global stable
-I use my phone for browsing internet and social media-no game-no calls(Data sim)
-I disables (all notifications-led lights-second space-quick ball-etc...)+battery saver+restrict background activity
-I only get 9 hours sot on 3g or 10 hours on wifi+4% or 5% battery drain in idle mode.So downclocking the cpu may help me to save battery
Question:
1-What can I do to save more power in miui 9?
2-I heard of ultra power saving mode is found in miui 8.How can I downgrade to it?Is it helpful?
3-What can I do to save more power using root (custom rom-custom kernel)?
Waiting your feedback

Up.....................................Up.................................................Up

You can't... Ultra power saving is present only with MTK SoC's (& it's still much behind SD). Either switch to older MiUI 8.2~8.3 or to costume ROM.

Thank you for your reply,But I have two questions:
1- How can I downgrade to miui 8 without unlocking bootloader?
I`am now on Global beta Miui 9 -8.4.19
2-How Can I achieve 0% power consumption in idle mode without root?

1. The same way you installed that one & from the same place, just pick older version & download it.
http://en.miui.com/download-302.html
2. You can't it sucks 0.3~0.5% per h.

1-I installed miui 9 Global beta 8.4.19 using updater app.Can I install miui global stable 8 using the same way?
Because Some people say you should use mi flash +edl mode
2-I used before another phone(alcatel pixi 4 power)+greenify without root ,and I could achieve 0% or 1% at maximum in 15 continuous hours in idle mode
I don`t know why it doesn't work well in miui 9?
note:-I disables (all notifications-led lights-second space-quick ball-etc...)+battery saver+restrict background activity
3-Is there any app that can disable everything in mobile (calls-sms-notifications-wakelocks-background apps-any other feature)?
Because I don`t use mobile at all for at least 15 hours daily!!

Which you can get when you: unlock boot loader, root, flash a costume ROM & take a control of the phone. In the meanwhile address your complaints to the one's in charge on the official MIUI forum. This is costume ROM's community and we wouldn't make our efforts if we were really satisfied with what OEM's offered.

A) Nope. So called "ultra power saving mode" is tied to vendor not MIUI or Android version.
The MIUI 8.3 is based on the Android 6 and whose one of the better firmware releases regarding battery life. That's why I recommend it in the first place.
B) it's MTK own frequency scheduler set of restrictions ment to extend the battery life but in generally their SoC's are less efficient than Snapdragons. Only Sony has an rather good "Ultra power saving mode" included in their firmwares and disregarding of the SoC vendor.
C# Unlock the boot loader, root, make recovery & kernel backup with flashify (or something similar), install latest unofficial TWRP by nijel8, flash the unofficial LineageOS 14.1 by nijel8, latest firmware & Open Gapps (micro or pico), install the script of your choice from power/performance thread (post no#5) & let it boot. In settings enable the hotplug option, reboot and enjoy. This end's this discussion for me.

So you are stuck with what you have.

MIUI has been available for a while now but thanks anyway, seems it's been updated recently.
I actually used a MIUI phone before I got Z6 Pro. Wanna test it out as the so called global firmware on our Lenovo is plain garbage.
So camera seems to be working fine but... What about the wide-angle one??

I'd suggest that you stick with the official stock ROM until decent custom ROMs are available.
MIUI would have been a great option but ads and Chinese apps are too intrusive. Brightness control in the notification shade are laggy, UI would freeze occasionally.
But dam the MIUI's UI feels so much better compared to stock.
I wish someone would compile a global MIUI ROM for us.
UPDATE: I am actually using MIUI as of right now and enjoying it much more compared to stock.
The above mentioned problems, I've been able to get rid of some of them. Deleted bloatware. Brightness slider got smoother somehow. UI doesn't freeze or lag.
My few complaints:
Can't set lockscreen wallpaper.
Battery life got slightly worse.
Wi-Fi would disconnected sometimes.
In rare occasions SIM card isn't recognized. You need to wait for 10-20 seconds for it to start working again.
Finger print scanner doesn't work.

New Oneplus Owner... Where to Start?

Hey everyone, just got my 7T. I've heard great things about Oxygen, and it seems like everything is optimized. I'm just not sure where to go from here. I'm coming from a LeEco LE Pro 3, and the ROM path has been the only option (android 6 was the last official version for that phone, and we have 10 via ROM now). Is there any reason to try a different ROM on this phone? What about different kernels? Is there any good reason to leave stock? I'll definitely root my phone, but I'm not sure about the kernel/ROM changes.
I appreciate your input!

I like Oxygen very much and flashed arters kernel only for better battery life. I tried the custom ROMs too, but battery wasn't that good. If you are happy with Oxy stay on it. If you need some more feature, take a custom rom. It depends always on what you want and what you like.
I've always been an AOSP guy, but OOS on 7T is good. all you customization you need get be added through gravitybox, renovate ICE. Other than always on display, I don't see what aosp can offer on top of OOS. Last I tried, AOSP had some auto brightness and fingerprint issue. with OOS you still have face unlock which AOSP don't. you can also add horizon lights with renovate ICE.
You'll know if you will like OOS or not.
If you plan on going the ROM route, try Omni or Tresk. I'm currently running Tresk and it's excellent! Better battery than OOS, AOD, better theming, and overall cleaner "Google" interface.

Maybe with Stock OOS, but you will definitely get better battery results with OOS + arters kernel. Even idle drain is less with it. This time Oxygen is very hard to beat.
Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to stick to stock for now and try the custom kernel for better battery life.

I have not tried this combination. Too many deal breakers for me with OOS so I jumped quickly.
I advice you to flash OxygenOS Open beta 3. It's a bit more stable for my 7T.
OxygenOS already feels like a custom rom, so I don't really feel the need to flash 3rd party roms.

Flashing steps for OnePlus 7T:
(For the first time installation)
Things you will need:
Payload Dumper
https://t.me/treskmod/190469
Bat file that wipes and flashes to both sides on initial install
https://t.me/treskmod/195379
Current Stable HD65AA Firmware on both sides, it has been reported that BA (EU) firmware has issues with FP.
- local upgrade or flash OOS firmware to side A
- reboot to OOS
- local upgrade or flash OOS firmware to side B
- reboot to bootloader
- dump latest treskmod payload.bin using payload dumper
- place the bat file in your output directory, or wherever you decide to keep images
- run the bat (this will wipe, a wipe is necessary on initial installation coming from OOS, after that, just OTA)
the bat file can be modified to suit any particular need.
- reboot to treskmod and enjoy
- root
- either wait for me to to post a patched boot.img, which you can then "fastboot boot nameofimage.img" in fastboot mode, then patch your own, or just make your own patched boot with magisk manager. (make sure preserve avb and preserve encryption are both checked)
- when taking an OTA, once its finished, don't reboot, and have magisk patch the inactive slot, then reboot.

Does this also apply to the Poco M3 global version? Thank you!
wew very quick tho... Gonna install this when my brother's Poco M3 will arrive... He's an IPhone SE 2020 user and just purchased Poco M3 because he thought the smoothness of the X3 (its 120hz Refresh Rate) (I have Poco X3) will be the same on the M3... he's really obsessed with my X3 tho because i dunno... I was really shocked when he asked me whats the review of the M3, it is good and something like that and finally he said to me he purchased it online like it was nuts! Hahaha
I hope he will not be disappointed by the camera of the Poco M3 and its capabilities...
btw² how you managed to make a debloated rom of Poco M3 afterall like it was released just 1 week ago?

Coming from a phone that have an A13 Bionic chipset, that was on the last year Iphone flagships to a Poco M3 that have a midrange SD662 from 2019 (technically it's from January 2020, but the performance is equal to SD660 and SD665 from 2019 midranges), will be quite a shock in performance for your brother.
POCO M3 is nothig like the POCO X3, i am sure that your brother was tempted by the 120hz RR, the Poco M3 as peer the reviews cant even push the 1080P screen to display 60FPS.

Haha As writing on this time, my brother has now refused to receive his order online because he was so frustrated that its not as fast as the Poco X3 after viewing MKHBHD's review and he has just shared it to his friends girlfriend so there will be no time wasted ordering again.
Just installed this ROM yesterday. So far the performance is pretty good, I've even rooted with Magisk to debloat further and for some modules I use. The only issue is excluding the dark theme from certain apps, but after searching online it seems to be a known MIUI 12 problem and I was able to work around it.

I'm using Magisk 20.4 stable. No problems with it so far. Also, to make it simple, I replaced the boot.img in the eu ROM with a Magisk patched one before flashing.

Does this mean that you are running unencrypted or is not the case?

I mean... You are installing a new ROM. As long as you have a Poco M3 device, your current ROM does not matter...
You will be installing xiaomi.eu rom, based on chinese stable builds.

Pretty sure it's still encrypted. I haven't read anything about Magisk removing encryption.

Here's the full instructions. https://www.thecustomdroid.com/inst...hing-magisk-patched-boot-image-using-fastboot
After you install the EU rom just follow method 2. You can find the stock boot img inside the EU rom zip file in the firmware-update folder. Just make sure your Magisk app is set to the stable branch v 20.4 I'm not sure if the betas are reliable yet.

When you flash the xiaomi.eu rom, it will replace your current ROM. So whatever if you have a global or european one, it will be replaced with xiaomi.eu.
So it doesn't matter the rom you have, it will work.

Question [MIUI 12][Update][Issues] Update reports on MIUI EU 12.0.5.0 RKHEUXM OTA

Hi,
I just received a notification this update is possible.
I'm looking for people who have noticed any new issues on this update.
Any issues such as the MIUI optimization slider being hidden in the dev settings or issues with the battery drain, or with the screen.
I'm aware these updates are made to fix issues supposedly but I can't help but think that they could introduce issues as well.

Eu weekly 21.4.8,DC is dimming
The EU MIUI ROM doesn't receive weekly updates at least for my EU MIUI ROM and it's latest version is not 21.4.8. Sorry if I misunderstood something here but could you be a bit more precise about what is EU weekly 21.4.8? I understand that the dimming screen issue is gone thanks.

If you debloat battery and perfomance app, then screen refresh rate will stay either 120 or 60 until you reinstall that app.

Question Xiaomi.eu for mi 11x(Aliothin)

So from miui 13 xioami.eu is not working properly with mi11x (aliothin).
As xioami.eu refuses to support mi11x though alioth and aliothin are the same device.
(They said and I am quoting here "This is intentional. The ROM didn't have proper support for aliothin to begin with (when you say "it was working fine" you don't really know what you're talking about because you didn't notice the issues). We removed the remaining aliothin junk. So yeah, it's not meant to work on aliothin.")
Anyone have any miui 13 custom rom suggestion? Not based on china base
I also ended up in a boot loop, got "nv data corrupted msg" in miui recovery. Flashed miui official V13.0.4.0.SKHINXM via usb otg and booted successfully.
What's slot A/B in TWRP?
xiaomi.eu was in slot A and miui official in slot B.
I'm not able to flash xiaomi.eu android 12, not able to install from otg. Wiped slot A but not able to copy zip to data.
Currently using android 13 official.
Yeah, miui eu doesn't support aliothin, which i find so awkward.
But i managed to flash miui eu latest, and everything works fine except for the camera. It's not usable at all. When you take a shot , the app closes and nothing is saved.
No matter what app you use for camera , it's the same thing.

The display setting will not have the 120hz option.
This happens when xiaomi.eu deliberately removes code related to aliothin. I still don't understand the reason behind it. And it's just frustrating.
And nobody should recommend xioami.eu for mi11x.
Hoping other custom MIUI in future that will support mi11x.
I own Mi 11x and I currently have Xiaomi.eu 12.5.18 stable installed. And the battery life is terrible
I was thinking of updating to miui13 hoping for better performance and I came across this thread.
What do you guys suggest?
This device is great except the proximity sensor and battery life, which is a serious turn down

Well for battery life you can root and install naptime + servicely. This helps a lot in aosp rom.
Also lower the clock speed of every cpu cluster by 100-200 (max). For this use franko kernel manager.
You can this on miui also. I never did this in miui.
Basically there are **** ton off background services and wake locks prevent your phone from sleeping and consumes more and more battery. Above mentioned apps let you choose how android behaves when screen is off also limiting unnecessary background processes.

Well most banking apps working with magisk + shamiko + safteynet fix.
Here's a tutorial. What banking apps do you use? Most upi apps will work.
Naptime works without root using some adb commands. But I don't know how usefull it will be. Because it doesn't freeze the background services when not in use.
If you don't want to root and want a good battery backup. Stock is the best option. Just use some debloating tools to uninstall unnecessary mi services.
Other wise you can try aosp + kernel. I don't if that will pass safteynet.

I am using MIUI EU weekly ROM from the past 10 months. But for me also from last march month onwards, unable to flash latest ROM, as it shows NV data corrupted. Any help or workaround to fix or bypass this problem? How you flashed the latest?

now that mi 11x is not supported by xiaomi.eu since miui 13, has anyone tried miui china rom? might not be as good as eu, but surely better than global. what about google app? and can it be debloated? anyways my battery backup was very poor on xiaomi.eu 12.5.18 stable and i had to make a switch.i am planning to switch to miui china V13.0.6.0.SKHCNXM. but i wanna make sure it doesnt have any issues before i do it.
