Modding Samsung keyboard case - Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Accessories

Has anyone tried to modify or take apart the official samsung keyboard cases? for example cut out the area over the camera so it can stay on to take photos, or even removing the keyboard part from the rest of the case and attaching it to a different case that protects the tablet better? i have no idea if there are any circuits in the bck part or anything that can break the keyboard?

Safe to punch / cut a hole in the back / cut along the spine
You should be good puching a hole. There is no electronics in the back (I have cut mine along the spine to fit only the keyboard part into another cover - and it works beautifully).

Tripod for video recording!

I'm looking for a Tripod to record video's with my S2 without holding the phone.
The video's will be for reviews to upload to YouTube, obviously using your hands to to hold the phone and record will look unprofessional.
So has anyone used a tripod or know of a cheap enough tripod that works and is suitable for a galaxy s2.
I've already looked on eBay and Amazon, there are some there, but not convinced on them.
Thanks in advance.

Tripod with Bracket
Hi,
I owned already a mini-tripod for a camara (Amazon has several on sale, mine is a Cullman). So I tinkered a bracket to hold my phone (actually a Lenovo China phone:
- you need some tools to work metal (bench vise; saw or angle grinder; hammer; file; sandpaper; drill)
- a strip of alumin(i)um, about 1 mm thick;
- a piece of thin leather (suede is the best, never throw away worn leather clothes) or soft fabric like velvet;
- all purpose glue, like Pattex
Cut the strip of metal to the needed length and width.
Form with bench vise, hammer and a round piece of metal which is about as thick as your phone (a drill bit f.e.) hooks at the end of this strip. The phone must fit loose into this bracket.
Smoothen the surface with file and sandpaper.
Drill a hole a little smaller than the screw an your tripod into the lower hook. If you have a fitting threader, use it. If not, force the screw into the hole and let the screw cut a thread.
Glue leather or fabric on the bracket, on the inside of course, but also on the outside if you like.
Adjust the hooks with the help of strong pliers, if necessary.
Enjoy.

Great tough case!

TOUGH CASE for Samsung Galaxy S3
by Case Mate
(I cant post a link since I dont have 10 posts yet)
I bought it with the phone and Im really glad I did it..
it protects the phone really good (from behind and sides, there is no shield for the front)
it takes a few trys to understand how to put the phone inside, but once you understand its very simple
it doesn't cost much to my opinion and it worth it!
it is also looks very good I think..
Hope you'd like it
Thanks, I'll have to look into that.

Pls tell me how to put this case on, I've got 1 on my SII but as I like to swap the batteries at work (12hr shifts) its a nitemare taking it off & putting it back on again???
Sent from My Omega powered beast, using Xparent ICS
I gotta say, i picked it up as a temporary case and I love this thing.
getting the phone in: put rubber on first, hold phone horizontal and kind of upside down...please volume rockers in first then give power button side a little stretch out on the hard plastic and push in (its not bad at all once you understand the concept)
taking it off: the key for me is place left hand thumb on left hand side of phone, put pointer on top of phone (silicone part) and place middle finger in the speaker hole and push ( I can get it off without almost any struggle at all that way) ....or use left hand thumb on left hand side and left hand pointer in speaker hole while using right hand to pull that corner of the silicone and phone out.
If you think thats a good case, check out the Phantom.

had it before the tough
its too big and bulky, WAY too wide and the micro usb port cover is in general a pita to get to go in right, especially on the fly, and the screen protector portion can't be removed (like the otterbox) and replace with either nothing or a regular screen protector, marks up way to easy not to mention after removing and replacing the screen cover a few times for cleaning, it keeps lifting on the bottom right of my phone and doesn't always register my screen press until i reset the cover.
I prefer to Galaxy S3 Flip Case,it replaces the stock battery door with a new cover which looks identical, but includes a soft front flap that folds over the 4.8-inch display protecting it from scratches.

I dont rly like flip cases... not that comfortable..
If you want to protect the front from scratches there are the nylon screen-protectors.
It works great for me

I also think that the nylon screen-protectors are a good choice, and I also use this to protect my phone

OEM Keyboard

I bought the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the OEM keyboard. I noticed that in order to use the back camera you have to remove the tablet from the case.
Why did you not punch a hole through the case Samsung?
Samsung even built an indent into the case for the camera lens, has anyone tried to punch the indent out so the camera can be used with the tablet still in the case?

Clear Gel case with added Pop Socket

As you may know, the Pop-socket knobs don't stick to the Mi Max 2 very well. I've found a solution to this. I took a clear Gel case, heated a metal washer the same size as the camera opening, and melted a hole UNDER the camera hole, pulled the pop socket apart, put the pop socket base on the INSIDE of the case and reattached the knob on the OUTSIDE, and put the completed case back on the phone. It works GREAT and makes the behemoth (with LOVE) Phone perfect for one-handed operation! Found the gel case on eBay for $10 and some change. I'll try to include a link. AFTERTHOUGHT: Place the hole lower than I did so you don't have to trim off part of the Pop-socket base.

My backup cases

Just like everybody else, there was no way I was going to go outside without a case and I didn't want to cop out $30 to $80+ for 1 case. I got my fold 2 early so I was in a rush to get a case, at the end of my purchases I ended up with 4 cases.
I have no affiliation with these sellers. I'm only recommending them because I have purchased from them and I received my cases in 10 days from China to California (time may vary).
First case $5.72: https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Samsun...rotective-Cover-Shell-Phone-Case/193657832728
Second case $8.79: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Carbon-Fib...r-for-Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-2-5G/363116655812
Third case $6.99: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Clear-Matt...l-for-Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Fold-2-5G/193682756272
Fourth case $10.99: https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Samsun...tective-Shockproof-Folding-Cover/193687093436
After receiving all the cases, I can see why Samsung only came out with the back part of the case cause they all fit perfect. There are 2 types of backings, thin and regular. Regular backing will be flush with the camera notch and will leave the camera window open. The thin backing has the advantage as it keeps the form factor while you’ll find some that will cover the camera window (fourth case).
First and fourth case are thin. Second and Third are regular.
The problem for me is the front bumper. On the second and third front case they made the same thickness as the back, making it difficult to swipe down for the quick panel or swipe left for the edge panel.
The front bumper for the fourth case is thinner making it a little easier for both functions to be reached.
side by side, left and right bars are different in thickness

I ended up putting the fourth case on in the meantime until I find my main case.
My final thoughts, go with what you like, it’s as simple as that. I hope this helps out who needs a backup case while still looking for their MAIN case.

Unfortunately it doesn't have an adhesive which would give it a permanent home. I'll be honest it does come a little loose when you attack a certain way but majority of the time when I open the phone, never slips out.

Just in case you guys need this...
1. iCraft Supertape 1/8 3mm doubled sided tape $6.29
2. The blueprint
3. ???
4. Profit
IMO, I don't think adhesive 2 and 3 is needed. When looking at the SAMSUNG logo on the hinge, the bar case lifts up and creates a slit because the double sided tape ain't thin enough. If I had to do it over again, I'd seal the whole bar or won't lay down 2 and 3 at all. Overall a good fit and pleased that it doesn't come off at all now.
Fair warning, I don't know how this peels off, I'll let you guys know in a week when my new case comes in. =)
My dbrand skin came in so I took off the front plate with no issues and removed the doublesided tape with ease.
When I ordered the skin I thought they were going to send just one back and one camera but I got one back and 3 camera skins. Good looking out DBRAND! I laid down the back and camera skin and it feels good naked, I love it. I ended up putting back the fourth case (GKK) over the skin and now it's on pretty solid.
