April Fastboot image available - Moto G5 Plus Guides, News, & Discussion

Seems that there is a 92-10 image available now.

I haven't tried this myself, as I am on the 93 series. So please take care if you want to download and use.

92 is retin (india) afaik, I'm still waiting for latest reteu images... There haven't been any in a while now.

I got 92-10 in RETBR, so, that.

India and Brasil are 92-x, Europe, US and Asia Pacific is 93-x.

It would be AWESOME if users added which firmware variant and region the firmware was for in the title. WAY too many difference with firmwares to make the titles "April firmware update" "April fastboot firmware" "April ______ _______".
Seriously, too many users end up flashing the wrong firmware because of the lack of information in the title.

Not trying to be the elephant in the room, but this device has had more wrong and premature flashing of "roms, kernels, stock" than any device I've been associated with since owning a smartphone. I finally joined this site because there was so much wrong info. I suspect a lot of this can be chalked up to people being careless
because of the entry level price the phones sells for. It is easy to be flippant with a cheap phone that one you spend a months a wages for.

Is there any info about 92-10 retla image? That would be good to relock the bootloader on my phone.
EDIT: This works for relocking the bootloader on XT1681, 92-10 retla!

Bruh I thought it was for the reteu model. ****! I need either the NPNS25.137-93-8 or the NPNS25.137-93-10 image to be able to lock the bootloader.

I need that too, why Motorola doesn't release all firmwares?

Can I flash this on India Variant?

Moto doesn't release ANY firmwares, except for "developer" or "Pure" variants, and those are old versions (but that is a different story). The ones we do see are leaks from employees, authorized repair centers, etc. in which people literally put their jobs on the line to get them out.
Moto has little love for the developer community anymore, but they have (had) a strong presence in it since since pre-Google days, but Lenovo hates it. Honestly, if Lenovo wouldn't get a huge backlash they would just stop allowing bootloaders to be unlocked at all. I wouldn't be surprised if that happens in the next couple years anyway.
Otherwise, Moto thinks you don't need a firmware image at all. If there is a problem, take it to a service center (or send it in in many countries, as "service centers" don't exist in a lot places, like the US or EU) and get it fixed. Out of warranty, no problem... just buy a shiny new Moto.

I'm stuck on the March update and can't take the April OTA. Sucks. Maybe time to move to a custom ROM rather than stock. Are any images available for US--EU?

I gave up and flashed Pixel Experience. I have no idea how it happened but my internal storage got wiped. Lesson learned, always back up your stuff to a laptop.
In any case, I've mostly recovered everything and Oreo 8.1 on this thing is pretty great. Also the camera seems to work a lot better with the camera2 api enabled. Overall not a ton of difference from Nougat though.

Wait I'm confused the firmware version says its for the G930U, but also saying its for VZW? Which is it lol, the G930U or G930V. I know you can flash the U firmware on the V model but I'm just asking to make sure.
There were two identical versions of the "U" firmware. Sorry for the confusion. You can use the program to download the "U" firmware to flash on on our Verizon S7's.

Sorry to make you elaborate it seems simple but I can't quite tell whats going on haha.
I need to download both and flash half from each? Or flash one first then the other?
You can download either one. The XAA and VZW firmware are identical. I just flashed the "VZW" one and it made no difference.

Yeah thats the one I downloaded, but when I loaded it into Odin the CSC showed as OYM, and not VZW.
Oh well lol I'll keep this running I don't have it set up yet so I can't speak on battery life or performance (although I'm sure it will be similar to PF2) but as far as my signal goes there are no issues so I'll keep this installed. Thanks for the guide and for helping me out.
Edit: Oh, didn't know the U firmware let you straight up uninstall some of the Samsung crap, not just disable it. Also didn't realize that all the 3rd party bloat was Verizon's doing, not Samsungs I disable all that crap with Package Disabler Pro anyways, but still didn't realize how sh*tty Verizon is lol.
Sure thing, no problem. One problem... If you use visual voice-mail, it will be lost. I have not found a suitable working replacement either... I just long press the "1" in the dialer to check my voice-mail, lol. Old-school....
Oh okay

Try installing those two MS VC C++ packages, reboot and try again. I have them installed and did not experience that error. Works on my laptop and desktop.
I flashed the new U firmware and man my phone is back to normal. I want to root it but it was so sluggish with the root kernal even with the v15 fixes and all the tweaks I read here. Opening apps were taking 5 seconds, unlocking the phone was taking a few. It literally felt like I was running some crap $50 chinese phone lol. Also my battery was going down 10% every half and hour. Now with the fresh stock install no root no tweaks I've lost 3% in 1h and 33 minutes
What exactly are the benefits of doing this? Doesn't the U firmware have an unlocked boot loader, or something along those lines?

No unlocked bootloader, just 0 Verizon bloat to bog down the phone, so it tends to run much cleaner.

Well this is new to me, I'm pretty surprised by this, however there is still mtk devices in K series of they get nougat too I'm taking back everything I said about LG
P.S. please don't say that ms428/g is T-Mobile or verzion versions of K10¿
Why not for k10 430dsy?
So this might mean AOSP or LineageOS is in the works for MS428?

Doubt it because k8 and K10 models Who got nougat are carrier specific models (at&t, verzion, T-Mobile), so they got it because of carrier. But it would be nice tho

Yes, that would be logic. But only reason why those variants got nougat is because they might have some kind of deal, just look LG has made a same model but different chipset because carriers demand that, Soo, we'll see, I hope everyone get nougat.
I gave @JoeMoDo the MetroPCS Nougat OTA. He is working on a deodexed, debloated ROM that can be flashed in TWRP.
i got it today on my metro lg k10 but it has a tmobile sim card.
Okay, so I have a number of questions about this. I'm actually installing this right now, but does/has anybody checked if the bootloader relocks or has new commands on the K428SG? I've been trying to get TWRP and a custom room running but i know I can't use the reCOWvery exploit anymore. In fact, I wasn't able to decline. The update just kinda provisioned and allowed itself... Need some pointers though.
MrHayman12 out (not signed in right now but I don't really care I'm just tired)
Edit: Sorry for being kinda stupid; it's about 5 minutes later and it turns out it might not have messed with the BL anyways.

Think I learned my lesson this time. Back to the Pixel I go after I'm done with this phone.
My V30 arrives this week so this is good news for me. Is this for the International or US unlocked?
Does look like us version. Sw version US99818f

I agree. I made a quick decision at a boxing week sale and came from a OnePlus who support user unlocking and flashing. I'm going through update withdrawal! I like the device but had I known that the H933 variant was likely never going to be rootable, I would not have gone with it.

No it's model locked where you can't flash other models kdz it's a common misconception on the thread.
I am wondering if LG's implementation of Android 8.lx Oreo will be rootable as the Google Pixel 2 XL's version (had this phone 3 weeks then sold it)
I have been getting bugged for an update but so far, have refused (because I do wish to root).
I understood the bootloader unlock has to come from LG (with the only way to access fastboot commands being the official bootloader unlock needed to install twrp/magisk/etc.) .

Read the link. It's just in testing by LG right now. As far as I can tell by looking on Google, this user is literally the only one talking about having it (all news stories link back to his link in OP), so I wouldn't get your hopes up about him sharing it or about us getting it officially any time soon.

You won't. AT&T doesn't release full image KDZ. Only partial image OTA. And even then mostly to AT&T customers with real AT&T SIM cards. Yes, there is at least one AT&T MVNO (Red Pocket) that is the exception.
For the most part you won't get any update if you stay on AT&T firmware and are not AT&T customer. Yes, Red Pocket is exception and with Pie update some people reported success with unactivated AT&T SIM card left overnight in phone.
But point is, this is why most users who are NOT AT&T customers flash over to NAO (North American Open Market) firmware, even if their AT&T V35 was "carrier unlocked" with a code.
Because NAO (and Amazon and Google Fi) have full image KDZ public firmware release you can manually flash at your convenience via Dev Patched LGUP.
NAO is the best choice, unless you are actually a Google Fi customer. Right now there doesn't seem to be any difference in the KDZ between the two, but in the future there may be. Like what happened with V30 US998 North American Open Market and U.S. Cellular.

Yeah we're just waiting for LG to release the NAO/USA kdz. They've released AT&T and Korean version. Once we get NAO then we can go nuts finally. Only thing I'm worried about is that I really like the camera interface on the V35 currently, on Android 10 I'm scared they might change it to the new one they have on the newer LG phones which looks like a copy of Samsungs (which is a copy of Apples, swiping for different modes rather than having a button to choose everything in one shot)
This is how it looks like now on 10
no news for the unlocked version still.

General F936U1 Firmware Now Available

For those looking to flash their devices immediately, U1 firmware is now available via Frija and other such tools that pull from Sammy's servers. Manual Entry is required, XAA sales code.
PDA: F936U1UEU1AVGA
CSC: F936U1OYM1AVGC
Phone: F936U1UEU1AVGA
Standard MO for Samsung is to remove the Manual Entry requirement once the official launch date hits. Once that date comes, you should be able to pull it via Automatic.
I do not own this device nor will I ever so I haven't actually tried flashing. But it should work with latest Patched Odin 3.14.x
Happy flashing!

It already is available, and has been. For some reason, VZW usually also requires Manual entry, in order to pull successfully

Thanks! You would not happen to know the PDA, CSC and Phone codes for pulling the Verizon firmware would you? I tried some combinations but they did not seem to work.

Thanks again! Got the flip 4 firmware as well. My project for today was flashing the Fold 4 VZW firmware and getting the phone to be as like my Fold 3 as possible, before sending in the Fold 3 for my trade-in. Next project will be the Fold 4.
There was an update that came out a day or so ago, ending in "VHH". I can only see it for TMK and TMB. I have it installed now no issues but wondering would they usually release an incremental update for U1?

What's your definition of "incremental", and how does it differ from your definition of a "non incremental update" ?

It still has the July Security Patch and only available in certain markets from what I read. Incremental like a small patch and not a full update.

Still don't understand what the difference between "small patch" and "full update" is, in your book. Not all updates are multiple GB in size and/or bring a new UI or Android version. Both U and U1 models have always gotten "small" updates, and always will.
And I'm sure it'll roll out to the other carriers soon
Not sure what I'm doing incorrectly but using the info on OP, I'm not getting anything coming back as available. Anyone else having similar results?
