ZLink function on Joying unit (android auto & car-play) on every px5 radio, possible? - MTCD Android Head Units General

ZLink function on Joying unit (android auto & car-play) on every px5 radio, possible?
hi, i find this video that show zlink function on joying unit, that allow to use android auto and car play. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmRnVbb02yA So i search in web to obtain other information about it, and on the site of joying i find that there is a module, zlink box, that allow to use this function on other joying unit. But in the description of the item, it's written that, if you have a px5 unit of joying you don't need this item. So now i think that you don't have to add some hardware on px5 unit (not joying, like mine) to have this feature, maybe only with the apk you can have it. Anyone knows something about it? (Sorry for my bad english)

I actually contacted Zjinnova (the company that makes zlink) and they said it’s got an app and a system service built in. Also it checks a license key to keep it activated. It should be trivial to extract the needed components from a joying firmware, and after that we would just need license keys (which I believe we can order from Zjinnova directly)

That sounds great, I'm happy to pay a license fee and have it on a non joying head unit.

Buy the dongle, plug in and go.... It is not software only.
Joying have simply integrated the dongle into their head units. Anticipate HCT based MTCD units have this build in soon, as can be seen in factory settings to enable it.

No, it's a software service only, functioning in a way similar to easyconnect's adb_ec service. Check the px5 joying ROM, you can easily extract it. It's several system services along with some binaries that interact with the devices, iOS or Android, and the zlink apk.
The zlink dongles just make it so you don't need root and rw access on the unit. Unfortunately it's ARM only, otherwise I would include it with the Intel custom ROM. I'm sure someone will rip it out and stick it into the malaysk rom or whatever.
In essence, no additional hardware required. Which is probably why you need a license key for it (I have not personally used or tested yet)

https://forum.xda-developers.com/android-auto/android-head-units/z-link-joying-t3759952

So, has anyone successfully extracted the files from a joying FW? If not, where can one download the latest firmware for such purposes?

Is there a way to manually add them to an already installed firmware? I have Malaysk's android 8.0 FW installed. Can I somehow manually add the app and services? I also can't for the life of me find a way to extract the necessary bits from the firmware update posted on Joying's site.
https://www.joyingauto.com/blog/category/updated-files-released/
I would greatly appreciate any help regarding this I think I can get a license key from zjinnova separately.

i dont think that it is just install the software....
The dongle must have licensed hardware (to apple) in order carplay could work.
If our units have hardware enough (and better than other carplay enabled units)...why then is necesary a dongle?

I’m pretty sure it has something to do with the app being a system app and requiring root privileges. If it needed special hardware for zlink to be built into the head unit then why does it need an activation code?

Specific apple certified hardware and software is needed.
Hardware is the USB stick
Zlink is the certified software....both are linked and the USB stick signs the software key

What you say makes sense to me, but what about the second post, somebody contacted the company and they said how it works. I doubt Joying have added any extra hardware, I guess othe question is did the joying rom do this from launch, or was it in a recent update it started working. That might help figure it out
Ben

Here’s the zlink apk and the services. I don’t know how to properly install them. I figure it needs to be installed as a system app? And then copy the .so files into lib?
I’m away on holiday so I can’t try it on my own head unit but it seems promising

Some detailed pics of the internal hardware might help us determine if hardware is required to support.

Consensus? It sounds like no one that's experienced enough has extracted the px5 fyt rom and looked (I am, have), and understand how android services work.
(Ex: if a user has a FYT 6021 joying unit (which does not have zlink built in), swaps out the SOM with the FYT6026 px5, zlink is now built in. There's no additional hardware on the mcu board or the SoM)
Has no one told malaysk to look into this for the MTCD guys???

In the mcu factory settings menu of Malaysk 2.0 I have a CarPlay toggle (yes/no)... could this have something to do with enabling zlink functionality?

Hi,
I've installed a new android headunit today. Running android 7.1 out of the box.
I have a few problems with it and a few thing I'd like to know how you do it.
Problems:
- Not all buttons work like they should. Temperature adjusting works fine but changing the air outlet on the passengers side doesn't.
- The car settings app is doesn't work. The toggles go from on to off and back...
Question:
- I'd like to use bluetooth tethering for internet, but that doesn't seem to work. the bluetooth settings look different and I can't choose to use the internet connection. Usb tethering would be a great alternative but I don't thing its available.
The only other option would be to use the wifi hotspot but I hate the fact that I need to switch it on and off all the time.
Hopefully you have a solution for these problems.
Thanks, Frans
I've just installed an Erisin head unit with Android 7.1 in my VW Passat.

My solution for tethering was to use the wifi hotspot on my Nexus 5X. I've used Automate to enable/disable the hotspot when my phone connects/disconnects to Bluetooth so I don't have to switch it on and off all the time.
Overall I'm pretty happy with it. Everything works as it should. I've replaced the default launcher with Car Launcher Pro which seems to be the only car launcher specifically designed for use on an Android head unit rather than a phone. I think it looks a lot better than the default one.
I've installed Waze and Spotify which are now linked together so I can switch between the two really easily. I'm using TuneIn for the radio, but my mobile signal sometimes drops out so I'm tempted to buy the additional DAB unit.
The only real issue I'm having is some slight buzzing interference when the engine is running. It's not terrible but I'll be looking into how I can earth the head unit better to try and suppress it.
Hi,
Do you have found a solution for this problems?
I'm thinking buy an Android head unit for my Peugeot 407, but I'm afraid that many options doesn't work, without original screen...
Hi guys,
I've changed the oem Head-Unit of my Peugeot 407 with a new PX3 with Android 7.1 and all main functions of the original system are ok.
Original Head-Unit was a WipNav (RNeg) with a 7" color display.
Now with the new Head-Unit set I can controll the dual zone clima (all controlls, pilot and passenger) and consumption indicator.
Some pictures at below...
What's your problem for the controls or buttons?

Hi trudtilp
Thanks for the photos.
I appreciate if you can answer a few questions:
- The unit, show external temperature, as the original screen show?
- Are the car messages displayed? Like "Low exterior temperature", "Front left seatbelt open", "Doors open", "right headlamp failure", "esp malfunction", ...?
- Original parking sensors are working? Beep and graphics or only beep?
Thanks in advance!
Hello everyone, I'm very interested in this because I would also like to install a head unit: the latest version androïd 8 on my Citroën C5 (RC_) (of course the screen should be adapted ...)
I ask myself some questions also about the sensors of recoil because the car has 8!
I know there are interfaces (look for "DanyMecano" on Youtube) but no way to know if this interface can accept as many sensors
And finally, my car is equipped with amplified JBL sound ... I saw that there were JBL CanBus decoders for Toyota (Aliexpress) but again, nothing for Peugeot 407 (or C5 with the same configuration)...
I'm French so I use the Google translation and I apologize if you do not understand everything!

As I know, JBL sound on Peugeot 407, works great with any canbus, also with the old versions that do not support reverse parking sensors. In a Spanish forum, there are an user who confirm that.
Ok I'll watch this thank you very much
#EDIT:
Do you have a link please?
I just watched 10 pages in Spanish language and I did not find anything ...
Hello everyone!
I found some information ... In ".es" as Peixeiro said!
A sale (too expensive) but the first info is very clear! :
"With this equipment, functions are not lost.
The steering wheel controls, vehicle information, parking sensors, climate, even the JBL system are retained.
With Android 7.1"
I also found a Chinese seller (Seicane) who gives an interesting info in his description, it say:
"Please note: this unit only can support your original car's reversing radar if your car's origin CD is a small screen less than 4.3 inch, then this unit can't support your car's reversing radar."
Below there is a photo of the RD4...

Features (of chipset and/or hardware) which aren't supported (yet)

Hi there, this is my first thread. Just trying to list some of the things the G7's S845 chipset and underlying Android Oreo OS would allow for but which are not available in the current state of the LG G7. This concerns the European model, although it may share the feature aspects with its other counterparts.
I shall concentrate on the sheer existence of a feature, not on how one likes or even needs it. This aims to avoid posts like "yeah, it's not there but nobody needs it anyway" and ensuing discussions of any kind.
Feel free to correct me on my conclusions and also add your points if you like. I aim to update the list in a timely manner.
Reference docs and links
Link to the Snapdragon's 845 capabilities: https://www.qualcomm.com/snapdragon/processors/comparison
And in more detail (plus PR speak): https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon-845-mobile-platform

GSMArena's feature and spec overview (not to be taken as 100% accurate)
Hardware stuff
Qualcomm Quick Charge 4 technology
Is it available? Does the included charger support it? My current understanding (source: threads in this forum) leads me to think that there's a Quick Charge 3 charger and technology in use.
USB C to HDMI and/or DisplayPort
Not sure if this is a dedicated hardware limitation (missing chip, etc.) or something LG has disabled in the OS. I haven't tried this output method so far but from forum reports, it seems like it's not available.
[Edit] Seems like LG disabled it.
Software items (might overlap with hardware stuff at times)
Ultra HD 4K (3840x2160) 60fps video recording
[Edit] Came with "V10f" update in July. It therefore is available.
Slow motion HD (720p) video up to 480fps or FHD (1080p) up to 240fps
I saw the 240fps feature being available but only in 720p whereas the Snapdragon is capable of 480fps at that resolution.
Android Guest mode (account). What is this?
There's an option to add other accounts on your device but not the dedicated "guest" feature which enables some more restrictive rights than just adding another user.
WIFI calling (VoWiFi)
[Edit] available since the update -see VoLTE text for details-
Voice over LTE (VoLTE); VoWIFI
[Edit] There was an update today which seems to have added some carriers, which includes mine. I guess LG is on it to provide the functionality to more people as it becomes more relevant.
Additionally, the corresponding update is called ""VoLTE VoWIFI Enabler" and came automatically via the integrated updater. So there's reason to believe that VoWIFI also gained more support (which I cannot test personally). I shall mark both points as being available form now on.
Format SD card as internal storage
Does not work. Enforcing "allow apps on external" via developer options does not touch on this functionality but may serve to help in some cases where apps, by default, do not offer the option to use the sd card.
Scramble PIN entry keypad
A small item, but I kinda liked it in other OS versions. I actually have that option with other phones but not with the LG G7.
(auto) "OK" after PIN entry
Adding to the above item, it would be neat to not being bound to press ok after entering the correct PIN.
Use volume keys (long press) to change to next/previous track
I'm actually amazed that this feature isn't available. Seems like a trait most original OS implementations share, while every custom ROM I owned of course supported it.
Misc
(Officially) Unlocked bootloader
[Edit] Done: https://www.xda-developers.com/international-lg-g7-bootloader-unlock/
G6 didn't, and someone else here mentioned that the G7 doesn't either, support video out with a USB-C to HDMI cable.
Sent from my LM-G710 using Tapatalk
That's a point to make indeed, but can we deduct that it should work from the specs of the chipset and/or the Oreo features and that LG has just disabled the feature?
Anyway, I shall add it to the hardware section. Thanks for the input.
Actually, G7's bootloader is unlockable in Europe, see https://www.xda-developers.com/international-lg-g7-bootloader-unlock/
And another thing, I'm on V10d branded TIM IT (which is my SIM provider) and I have VoLTE without doing anything in particular (screenshot attached).

Ah, must have missed that. Will edit my list to reflect it. Thanks for the heads-up.
And on the VoLTE feature, as mentioned in the list, it seems like it's a combination of vendor and carrier work, so it shall remain in the index for as long as some fellows still report the lack of the feature while using major carriers in their country. O2 for example is not supporting it in full, although they are selling the device.
I will update the list accordingly.
USB C to HDMI and/or DisplayPort
It is a shame.
Lg has disabled this feature via software.
I have revised the kernel sources and you can see that they have disabled it.
Furthermore when you connect a displayport adapter, the smartphone detect it properly and told you that is not allowed. If somebody konw how to compile a new kernel we may take back this great feature.
Kernel source:
http://opensource.lge.com/osSch/list...ME&search=G710
You can compare it with lg v30 or galaxy s9, both support HDMI output.View attachment 4542686

Not sure how to move things but I've added a heads-up to my signature, so that other folks are able to see our small list and perhaps add to it or even work on enabling certain features.
LG g7 Indonesia supports HDMI out, adoptable storage
G7 camera sensor (imx351) only supports up to 240fps
QC4 / USB PD is locked at 18W max
Thanks for those details. Do you happen to have some sources for them?
Android Pie update brings this feature to LG G7 . Just got the update today and tested this function. Soon after connecting, get black bars on all 4 sides. Just pinch out, you get a normal display on TV. Nice

Dasaita head unit for Mitsubishi outlander 2017

So i have Dasaita unit for Outlander, Android 8.0 PX5 8-core, 4gb Ram, 32Gb Rom, 8"
My question is does anyone else have managed to some how change car settings throw this device, settings, like light, wipers sensitivity, door locks, folding mirrors etc.? Or is there any other option-throw ODB2? Those settings are available in original unit.
And my second question is, can I adjust rear camera guidelines, because lines what i have with factory camera to dasaita unit are off. Have gone throw all reversing settings and no options found. In the settings there are option to see also active guidelines but it is always curved to one side and not moving as i turn my wheel.
Thanks!
I haven't done this myself, I am actually looking at installing a similar device in my outlander y14, but I understand with a OBD2 Bluetooth device and the mitsubishi Phev app installed on the head unit you can access the car functions... I'm not sure the mitsu app works on android 9 though.

No unfortunately not. But what I noticed is that I'm having Control settings app on my head unit and it have exactly the needed settings in it, problem is that those are greyed out or when touching only sound will heard but can not change anything. The app itself is coming from CAN bus. I didn't install it myself. I have choose canbus nr. 57 for Outlander, if I change it to 111 (another canbus for Mitsubishi) then the app disappears. So there is something that looks promising, but it does not work. Might be that it needs some more steps to do in Factory settings (in canbus and under other), there are some type0,1,2,3 that can be changed. Tested those also, but changing under other type 3 it messed up my screen, it was in vertical, managed to fix it with attached mouse and keyboard.

I managed to fix it. Long story short, they are executing the operation but they are not refreshing the Status of the command. You need to move the image to make a refresh. After you quit the app, the executed commands remain, but no feedback.

Dasaita vs. Toyota rear camera

I have a Dasaita PX6, custom fit for Toyota RAV4 2016. The car came with factory camera which included dynamic guide lines that away along with the steering wheel. After taking the car for maintenance, they changed something so that now whenever I tilt the wheel while in reverse, the lines curve all the way (so no longer a gradual curve, they just swap left or right).
While reading about it, I found this topic that explains how to recalibrate those guides. However, that option was with the original head unit. How can I get in the Toyota service menu on the Dasaita, without dismounting it and connecting the original?
https://www.toyotanation.com/threads/2016-rav4-backup-camera-sway-lines.1315737/
The original HU also had a camera menu which I cannot find in Dasaita, see pics attached *Back camera guide line setting*

You brought a aftermarket unit that differs to the factory unit and expect it to operate with the same feature set, is that correct?
Also, what did the reseller suggest you do?
I am looking for a feature that might be exposed differently, or that could be accessed in a different manner (such as ODB software). The original HU was changing settings for the car/camera, but I reckon they are stored elsewhere, because the original camera still works with the new system.
The reseller told me to check the vehicle app that comes with the unit, but that does not have such settings.

No all the stock features are included into the aftermarket custom unit...
In my case...for mazda vehicles ... the menus where included...
That's the price to pay for going to aftermarket solutions (not necessary for one brand or other aftermarket...but aftermarket in general)

The original HU also had a camera menu which I cannot find in Dasaita, see pics attached *Back camera guide line setting*

I also have one of the units but for a Toyota Corolla, so your settings might be similar or different to mine. But I went to Settings > CAR > Extra Settings > then there's an option for Reversing Trajectory Display set that to on. I never had this on my stock unit just the stock non moving lines. I will admit it's not integrated with the lines from the camera as it in it's another set that moves by itself, but it's still better than not having them.

I have a Dasaita PX6, custom fit for Toyota RAV4 2016. The car came with factory camera which included dynamic guide lines that away along with the steering wheel. My guess is the camera itself has a cpu that handle these, so in order to access the menu you need to reconnect the old headunit.

PX5 freeze very often

Hello
I've got a problem with my PX5 HU
MCU: MTCE_LM_V3.44_1
version without physical buttons (except 2 knobs) for Alfa Romeo 159
It's freeze very often with annoying sound-loop. When press the button in the reset hole sound-loop quit but HU is not restarting (screen is still on and no response) so I have to stop a car to make it turn on. So it's make me nuts.
I noticed some things:
1. Temperature of CPU is very high. Absolutely no stress - some music or radio on and connected phone (bluetooth + wifi) and temp is 60-70 C. When open for example GMaps its go to over 90 C.
BUT no laggy, no message about exceeded temp and system shutting down - so symptoms is different to "heat issue" thread.
2. I think it's freeze when "something going on" and it's no matter what it will be - for example in the GMaps it will be just before voice command. But it could be also incoming call via BT or regular touch the screen.
When I disconnect everything and use HU only just as regular radio everything seems to be fine.
Head unit is on warranty but I want send it back to China only in cases that is serious hardware issue.
When it will be software - i will try some custom roms.
Or when it will be hardware but only heat issue I will try add some heatsink.
Anybody have the similar problem? Is that software or hardware issue?
Hi,
I had very same random freezing issues a while ago. I think this is related to the Android build version. I updated mine to the latest Android 9 build and since then everything is working fine. No freezing at all. My unit is also a PX5 with MX type MCU. Please look at the attached picture for more information.

Many people installed heatsink and/or fan to solve freezing problems (most of them related to excessive temperature).
I would ask seller/manufacturer to violate the seal for a heatsink in order to solve the high temperature issues and to check if solve the freezing issue....and if not to be allowed to send it back as warranty protection

My MCU is LM, not MX (of course I know I can install ROM of other manufacturer). The reason I haven't try it yet is my current version is not available to download (in the case it will not help and have to send back to seller I was afraid they can reject varranty becouse different ROM is installed).
But I you had similar issue I need to try.

I'm glad to hear that. I thought the symptom of heat issue is laggy system and shutting down (in the right way, not freezes) - my HU works quite smooth even before freeze.
EDIT:
I installed custom ROM - Hal9k Mod (BTW it's great) and I can definitely say - that was the solution. No single freeze during very long trip (2 x 15h).

Hi, I have the same MCU version as in your picture, but different (older) Kernel and build versions. I am experiencing same freezing when using apps like Waze, Google Play, etc. Can you let me know if the kernel/build version in the image you have put are the versions that fixed your issue?
Many thanks.

The seller of this device, ZWNAV (https://www.aliexpress.com/store/2963108) has decided not to respond to my request to fix or replace the device. Total lack of trust, I would not recommend to anyone. Aliexpress did also nothing to help me, another lesson learned to avoid this "Amazon" wannabe.
