Well it really depends on your location. Other unlocked phones may give you better coverage because there available bands/frequencies, they may have more supported bands on your network. Myself..I'm missing volte band and I'm getting only 1 lte band. On mi mix 2 I have 4 lte bands. Are you referring to voice or data when you say coverage. How many lte bands does your carrier support for your device

Tmobile Compatibility

Hello,
I'm thinking about buying this phone, I would like to know if this phone is fully compatible with tmobile?
Thanks.
Tmobile uses bands 2, 4, and 12 with 12 not in use yet or not broadly available (recently acquired from Verizon). The ZF2 has bands 1-8, 17, and 20. Everyone who has posted says that it works perfectly on Tmo. The trial SIMs Asus gave out at the US announcement were all Tmo SIMs as well.
Works great on t-mobile for me. No band 12 of course.
Same here. Tmob in NYC works well (better reception in buildings with the newest update actually), but no band 12.
Is band 12 necessary? What effect does lack of band 12 have?

Band 12 is not necessary. I'm using the Zenfone 2 on T-Mobile. No reception or speed issues. Pulling ~60mbps down/~30mbps up.
Seems to be working on Tmobile Prepaid as well.
Band 12 is new and has limited availability. I think it is supposed to have better indoor coverage. I don't think it is a big deal. Band 12 phones are just starting to come out on t-mobile (I don't think the iPhone has it).
Compared to my Note 4 from Tmobile, the Zenfone 2 has been getting me better reception. I switch often, but been staying with the Zenfone more lately.

lte band 12 unlocking

Hi,
I read any threads and even one called unlock all LTE bands. however i can not get band 12 to work on my zenfone 2 (z00ad)
does this phone have the physical capability to connect to band 12?
if it does, if i were to install a custom rom such as cyanogenmod13, will it automatically search and connect to band 12?
can i also user VOLTE with a custom rom?
is there another better way to get band 12 on this phone? i am trying to get t-mobiles extended range lte, as in my house i got very bad signal! my friend has a band 12 phone and he gets perfect signal in my house!! huge difference!
Thank you in advance
Ben

lte+/4g+ carrier aggregation support?????

Does anyone getting CA/LTE+ support on their RN 5 pro. Its mentioned on their website that device supports CA/4G+, but m not getting the CA support in the area where I used to get it on LeMax 2.
Same problem here with the redmi 5 plus.
According to miui forums, carrier aggregation with bands 3+7 doesn't work with xiaomi phones.
This seems to be a bug that has been going on for years with xiaomi phones, and xiaomi doesn't seem to be giving any feedback on this issue.
If you can get some feedback from xiaomi, please report back here. Thanks.

I thought the CA is volte support. Do you have global version and what country are you in?
CA (aggregation of multiple bands) and volte (voice over lte = the connection won't switch to 3g during a call, but remain in 4g) are two different things. Volte works with as well as without CA.

How can I find out with certainty that LTE is covered

In my location considering the li ited amount amount of 4G Bands the Mi Max 3 handles? I don't mind using ATT or T-Mobile but I am less then confident relying on their sale person's answers.
Thanks!

I use Cricket which is part of AT&T...so for 3G and LTE, both signals is quite spot on. I just got mly Mix Max 3 yesterday and i switch my sim from another Xiaomi device to give you an idea that Xiaomi Phones can handle that company, but you can go to Tmobile and have them test it out.

Global, but have tried Chinese Rom.. there is no difference.
Celmapper uses data collected by volunteers using the cellmapper apps for Android and IOS. It will show you LTE and GSM bands used in areas where volunteers have collected data. https://www.cellmapper.net/Index

I have exactly the same question:
According to official Mi Max 3 website:
LTE band support: B1, B3, B4, B5, B7, B8, B20
I just bought a Global version model: M1804E4A:
The user guide indicates band support: 1/3/7/8/20/34/38/40 (Bands 4 & 5 are missing !!??)
WIthout Bands 4 & 5 - I'm guessing I can't get onto AT&T and TMobile ?
ALso is there a code dialler to check what LTE band is being support by model: M1804E4A?
For folks using mi max 3 in USA successfully - may I know what is your model number?
Thanks !!

Network Band Frequency

HI,
I operate a Note Pro 5 in the UK on the plusnet network which uses the following bands / frequency's. I use the global ROM
800MHz band, the 1800MHz band, the 2100MHz band
Iam not having much luck with the 4G speed / connection. Iam wondering if that's because the handset does not work with these bands. No point reformatting my phone only to find out if the phone does not work with these bands !!!
Thanks
Mathew
It should work fine, as they use EEs network. I use virgin mobile that also uses EEs network and its fine. Have you tried amending the APN settings?

Yes you are correct Virgin and Plusnet both run off EE but its not that simple.
EE only allow some bands to be avalible for resale the ones I have listed are what Plusnet use.
You have pointed out something I should have done!!!! I have removed the APN and started from scratch I will try this for a few days and see what happens.

So from what I've read plusnet don't seem to offer the 800mhz frequency (EE/virgin do), but if your Redmi Note 5 is the global version it will work with all UK 4G bands (including 800 or band 20 if its available from your provider). Usually band 20/800mhz travels further and so tends to be used more in rural areas to help improve coverage. Were you connecting to 4g OK before or have you just changed to plusnet or just got your RN5?

Yes I thought that but have had conformation directly from Plusnet that they do use the 800mhz range
@MathewRB
Global version of Redmi Note 5 supports all frequences You mentioned. The only problem is that it doesn"t support carrier agregation (LTE+) which can lead to slow data acces when the transmitter which Your"s phone is connected to is clogged

This really interesting has that problem been resolved with the Note 7 Pro?
@MathewRB
Yes it has. As far as i know Note 7 support LTE+ 2CA and pro version is 3CA
