fingerprint sensor - Samsung Galaxy A3, A5, A7 (2017) Questions & Answe

Hi everyone
I set up with 3 fingers the fingerprint sensor and weirdly both my sisters can unlock the phone with their own fingers. I removed and set up again but kinda the same... Anyone can relate?

Don't touch the button with oily fingers.

I have the same problem.
Try to cover the entire sensor with your finger, for me work's.

You mean when adding a new print or when trying to unlock?

Both. Delete all 3 fingerprint profiles, clean the button and your fingers with some alcohol and then try to recreate the profiles again. It should fix the problem.

I kinda tried that and looks the same.. anyway it's not really a big deal just annoying. Thanks for your replies

Maybe try reflashing the software, might fix the problem.

Actually I think it is just the quality of the sensor which is kinda crappy: I unlocked successfully my friend's a3 2017 with the finger the same way my sister did for my a5... It is not a big deal but Samsung should maybe work a little more on its fingerprint sensor.

fingerprint scanner wobbling

I've noticed a small wobble when sliding my finger left to right over my fingerprint scanner. Sometimes it makes a small click notice.
Is this normal? Are other HTC 10 owners noticing this?
Thanks!
Not seeing that here on my US unlocked version.

If you googled the teardown of the htc10 you would see that what you think is happening is impossible.

Yeah I have it to. It's not too bad. Mine isn't really a wobble so much as it has a slight give to it on the left and right. It's not something I really notice, or something that bothers me though. It's something I can notice if I try but rarely notice otherwise.

What you describe is what I noticed. Seems to be normal thing then.
It's already my second HTC 10, first one was send back to the online store because of a faulty wifi module, so I was investigating the device from up close and noticing something that isn't something broken.
OMG.
Can we get some community action on this issue? I don't know how the OP will sleep tonight. Maybe his fingertips have wobble syndrome. It's concerning for all of us.
It's a real problem in his lifetime. He is after all noticing things that aren't broken (his words not mine).

Someone is cranky today.
Hi guys! I have the same probelm and it is very annoying .. I´m thinking of returning the phone, don´t know, why this is happening! I´t always making a clicky noise. On the right side it is solid as it should be, but on the right side, i can see the fingerprint scanner moving inside the device when I press it.

How did you know you have a faulty wifi module? My wifi is not so good as on my M8 so I am wondering if I have the same problem.. :/
I have been noticing this recently. What is happening is that when you touch the lower part of the screen, this pushes the fingerprint scanner up. You can feel it move up if you hold down on the scanner when pushing down on the screen. When you then touch the scanner, the clicking sound it it is making is that you are moving the scanner back down. Guess it is just a manufacturing issue we have to live with.

Screen unlocking during calls

I got my View 20 recently and I'm having a problem with screen unlocking during calls. The speaker is roughly at a 45 degree angle and I think so is the proximity sensor. And it only recognizes objects that are very very close to it. In other words unless I have the phone pressed against my ear (not touching or close to, actually pressed against it) it unlocks the screen during call, the notification panel opens up and I activate things I don't wanna activate... Once just as a test I made a short phone call and I made sure to keep the top of the phone pressed against my ear at all times and somehow it still unlocked the screen and the notification panel was open...
To make things even worse, because the angle is so weird I have to keep the phone lower than I'm used to (or comfortable with) and the bottom of the phone is way below my mouth which is bad too.
It's a real issue and I don't know what I can do to fix it. Please help me.
(And just as a side note I can't believe no one has mentioned this in ANY review - even if the screen doesn't unlock for them, the angle of the speaker is still weird and to hear the sound well you have to hold the phone lower than normally. It IS significant and I have no idea why this hasn't come up in any review or opinion on the internet).

Do you have any case on the phone? Sometimes the case may interfere with ur proximity sensor and cause these issues.
Nope, none.
I have the same problem. But without solution yet.
Disable Google smart unlock feature. And check.
It was never enabled.

Sure, just tell me which screen you want.
Do you have any glass screen protector? I have one and notice that is no cutout for the proximity sensor!

The phone came with a preinstalled one but I removed it. No cases, no glasses, just a vanilla phone.

Or maybe I just a defective phone? Could other owners of View 20 say if their phones are fine?
It's not a fault... The sensor is on the top of the device instead of the front/screen so it happens... Poor design choice that's all.
Same problem noticed since day 1, found also no solution yet.
very disappointing.

Yeah, except it's not pointed upwards, it's pointed at a roughly 45 degree angle, so it should still work more or less fine. Maybe less fine than forward-facing sensor but still ok. And I doubt that thousands (millions?) of people who bought that phone experience the same problems and no one has mentioned it yet.
I'm on the second view 20... Sent first one back as I didn't like the warmish tint on the screen... Second one has a much cooler tone... Both do this with calls and my brother also has a view 20 and he has the same issue... Mine was from Amazon and he got his from carphone warehouse.

Note 10 plus fingerprint scanner issues

Got the phone few days ago. Most of the time, fingerprint works on first or second attempts. But now and then it takes 4-5 attempts. and on two occasions i had to try 8-9 times to get it to work. Is it a problem only i am facing or its a common problem? i already updated phone after buying. should i get it replaced or it will be ok with next update
Thanks.
common problem i think. not as fast as the previous one on N9
Well, it is not widespread or "common", some users complain about this, but this issue has been discussed at lenght since the first days of this device, do a search, you will find some useful tips, My sensor is very fast and accurate, I think it depends on several factors, temp, moisture, the way you registered the fingers, screen protectors, etc
Also, register the same finger multiple times... I believe you can add 5 fingerprints....
I understand what you are talking about. I was so frustrated with the phone when I first got it. I deleted all my finger prints and then set them up again. Make sure to slowly follow the fingerprint instructions when adding. I added multiple fingers and some more than once. I have not had any issues since. I have also read some people say remove the factory screen protector. I still have mine on with no issues. Good luck!

did you have the same issue as mine? like u had to make several attempts and sometimes even 8-9 times to make it work?
only time I've had problems with mine is when my hands have been extremely dry, putting slight moisture on my finger can make it scan better, but for the most part it works perfect unless I'm somewhere hot and dry.
I have similar issues when I have a screen protector on the phone. Sometimes I have to press multiple times, sometimes I have to press harder. Finally going without anything on the screen and the sensor works like a charm.
Screen touch sensitivity.
On my Note 10+ 5G (SM-N976U) I have a setting on the Display page (scroll down near the bottom) that increases touch sensitivity specifically for use with screen protectors. The screen itself is Gorilla Glass 6, which is twice as strong as Gorilla Glass 5, so, if you are the careful sort, you can get by without a glass protector. Even with an extra curved glass protector, with touch sensitivity turned up, I can use light gloves & still the capacitance works fine.
Touch sensitivity has nothing to do with the fingerprint sensor.
Mine works perfect with screen protector. Sure if you put new screen peotector, it takes time to recognise finger. But when protector sits perfect than no prob at all.

Mine drives me mad , adding finger prints mostly does not work , i cant record my thumb print at all , was wondering if the sensor is not correct under the screen ,its always hit or miss on my phone , with my wifes note 10 there are no problems

the sensor works well as long as you don't have dry hands, lick your finger/thumb and it will work every time, sad but true. it's something I realise after it working flawlessly while drinking in a beer garden with condensed glasses but the rest of the time it was hit and miss. seems if your skin is too dry it doesn't read well, but add a bit moisture and it works perfectly. guess it has something to do with the technology in the new sensor using vibration instead of imaging.

Yes, lick your finger everytime you want it to work in the midst of a pandemic that seems to be spread by the virus getting transmitted from the hands to the face everytime you touch it...
You can also try this - https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-10+/themes/fingerprint-speed-hack-t4071893
No need to lick fingers now...
Excellent advice from ultramag69, this mostly solved my problem, but I'm not happy with Samsung, This problem should not happen on such an expensive device from a famous brand

The other advice I've found is to set up multiple finger prints with the same finger (you can usually set 5 fingerprints). This will improve the hit rate of the fingerprint sensor...

Fingerprint scanner patch/kernel

This is a great phone but the fingerprint scanner sucks. I fully updated to all the current security patches but the scanner still is hit or miss.
Are there any kernels or patches developed to help fix this issue?
Is the scanner issue a software or hardware problem?
Personally i dont have much issues with it, it's not the fastest one sure but it recognizes fp correctly like 99% of the time.. are you using screen protector?

My A50 came with a screen protector on it. I did some looking around and there are a few that claim to work better than the default one. I'll take it off and give it a try but I prefer to have the screen protector on.
A50s and A51 seem to have a faster one, so this is it.

Do you know if it was a hardware change or software upgrade?
Funny thing is I use the Whatsapp fingerprint scanner to unlock my Whatsapp and it works GREAT! Literally its a difference between night and day. Why does it work better with an app and not the system?

Question Front screen not working

My front screen, the small one, is not, most of the time, reacting to touches or double clicks. I am not sure if it's an app I have, a setting or faulty hardware causing it.
Any ideas/suggestions?
Thanks in advance
