Moto Camera 2 on MZP - Moto Z Play Questions & Answers

A few days back Moto launched a new camera app including Lens and other. It can be downloaded and installed, but crashed on startup. Does anyone know why or how to fix it? 64 bit can't be a problem since I'm running a 64 bit ROM. The only two possibilities I can think of is that it needs the Camera2 API (don't know if Moto even added that finally to the 2018 models) or that it just has to be installed as system app.
Anyone any experience?

[Q] Xperia S - Camera on nAOSP 5.1

Hello,
Deep in my mind I still remember how my Xperia S was amazing with taking pictures on stock rom.
Than i got kk, and now 5.1 nAOSP from mickybart.
So i wonder is there any port of camera that brings back the vivid and sharp photos?
The nAOSP camera is "ok" but it lacks options, no hdr etc. and it have sooo much problems with focus.
So i thought that someone may know how to improve it.
I srearched over crossdevices xperia thread but not much I foung for android 5.0+ there ;/.
Any help ??
My Xperia is still in the drawer [emoji15] . Well I used Lenovo'S Super Camera (can't remember full name) but it is ported on XDA.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2706891&page=1
This port is for Android 4.x and above. I think I stopped using it due to the startup time [emoji20]
Try the Google Camera from the play store if you'd like the android stock look [emoji1]
For android 5.x I'd recommend the HTC port. I haven't tested it on the xps but works great on s5 and works on all Android 5 builds as it doesn't use the new camera2 api

I've extracted it from my device - install camera first and then if it fails then install service pack then camera then gallery. The files only work for ANDROID 5.
My personal experience is with the Lenovo Camera and it is far better than AOSP stock. I've never tried HTC on the XPS but it is hundred times better than the Stock Camera on my S5 due to the manual exposure settings and quick snaps. Some modes like panorama and bokeh don't work they require the HTC Camera chip (omnivision device)
Is there a way to have the stock camera on nAOSP ? It would be perfect !!!

Is there any ported Google camera with hdr+?

It would be great if Google camera with hdr+ ported for Z2 play
Unfortunately not yet. The main reason is apparently that the Google camera app wit HDR+ apparently needs special hardware (Hexagon 680) which is not present in the Snapdragon 626. So I would not hold my breath
One thing tested if it concerns Moto Z2 play. Apk version (for arm architecture, described as: "arm, nodpi") from July 2016 works fine. It contains: lens blur, photo sphere and panorama. It DOESN'T contain: hdr+ and slow motion.
I noticed so far one problem with this version: motion pictures are possible only at 720p. 1080p and higher doesn't work - application crashes.
There are also two newer apk versions dedicated to arm architecture (already with hdr+, video stabilization, smartburst and slow motion) - from October and December 2016. Both you can download and install, but if started - they both crash immediately. They are compliant with android 7.1.1 nougat, which you have on Moto Z2 play. Maybe ggle added HW recognition to the apk file, and if it isn't run on nexus or pixel - it crashes. I don't know the reason, why the mentioned newer versions doesn't work
I dont mind HDR+ yet I'd like to have google camera but none I downloaded worked, all closing itself. anyone has a working apk?
The real issue of the Moto z2 play is it's OS. Although the SOC is a 64-bit one, Lenovo made a 32-bit OS instead, and Google camera only supports 64-bit devices.

32Bit OS / Oreo / Camera2API / Google Camera

Got some questions since I bought device device recently. I've been using a Xiaomi MI5s for quite a while now - this one has got a 64bit system, so a) Camera2API and b) the Google Camera with HDR is working just fine. So I learned Moto is STILL using 32bit for this and other devices so the recent Google Cameras with HDR+ will NEVER work with this.
Might this change with the release of Oreo 8.0 on the Moto Z2 Play? Or do you guys think Moto will still be using 32bit with this?
Asking, because the low-light-performance with this Z2 Play is WAY worse compared to my MI5S with Google Camera and HDR+ enabled - it's a world's difference. This I use this mobile on the go and like to have quality snapshots with me, I might be dropping this one again because of this - although, despite this issue - I like it a lot!
Any ideas?
So.. got a reply from Motorola.
Android 8.0 for the Z2 Play will stay at 32bit - no 64bit OS for this phone planned. Only for the Z2 Force Models, which have 64bit already.
Guess I'll sell the Play again, then..

Google Camera with HDR+ functionality. As I stated already, low light performance isn't that great with the Z2 - so Google Camera Modded would allow this one to be WAY more detailed / sharp / etc, as the stock cam would.
But Google Camera with these features is 64bit ONLY. Which means, if this one stays at 32bit, we can never get GCAM MOD working..

Try this, see if touch/autofocus works. it's based on gcam 4.2.xx arm 32b version.
Edit : needs camera api 2 enabled by build.prop if crashes. add below line to build.prop.

hi! thanks for your support! camera hal has been enabled by me before.
your version works.. but only partially. hdr seems to work, too. but the results
are not usable nor is the handling. touching the camera button, it takes about 10 seconds
before the actual photo is done.. and it also works only 1 of 5 times. in 4 times it doesn't take
a picture at all. and the result is washed out..
are there other versions i could test? do you know that?
thanks again!
Just lower iso a bit and increase speed using professional mode, you'll get better image, but need steady hand
Use automatic mode for iso and speed reference
on my bike z2 Play does not work, it does not have root, do I need root to install this APK?

Even the pie beta for z2 play is 32bit

Question Fool Google to think I have a Pixel 6 phone?

I've recently installed Nameless AOSP ROM, and while using it I realized that it made Google think I had a Pixel 6, and gave me free storage for Photos and GDrive (Backups only). Because of some stability issues and lack of camera features (compared to the Hasselblad stock one), I had to go back to OxygenOS (but I'm sticking to 11, until 13 is released).
Now, I would love to have that free photo storage, you've realized that camera is important to me. I tried Pix3lify and it bricked the phone, probably because of the stock ROM.
Does anyone know how can I simulate that I have a Pixel 6 phone? Maybe a config file or metadata that can be changed?
Set it to pixel xl and you can upload unlimited original pictures and videos. https://github.com/BaltiApps/Pixelify-Google-Photos

OIS and EIS performance difference between these two Camera App version?

Yo, I recently purchased a Pixel 3a xl and was running the device on Android 10 (QQ3A.200805.001) but when using the camera app, video captures were getting pixelated and lags. I did a factory reset to the device but the problem persisted. I started to try different versions and I saw that the recording went smoothly in Android 9 (PQ3B.190801.002). Even though I tried modded apk versions of the same version camera app on Android 10, I saw that it did not give the same performance. What exactly is the difference between these two versions? Maybe OIS or EIS software? Also on 7.3 version video brightness is higher then 6.2 and when i move the device different angel its keep focusing.
Android 10 Camera App Version: 7.3-7.4
Android 9 Camera App Version: 6.2.018
