Use TWRP Recovery from the attachment.
Make a Backup first.
Uninstall SuperUser App-
[*]in TWRP flash unSu.zip-
[*]with TWRP restore the Stock Kernel (Boot Partition) from a backup-
[*]flash in TWRP Magisk-v14.0.zip-
[*]the magisk app is automatic installed .
[*]Reboot-
[*]flash in TWRP BusyBox-Magisk-1.25.zip-
[*]for Ad Block Plus first install the app and then flash the zip-
[*]if the flashing fails, please add the modules in the Magisk Manager App.
[*]Don't experiment with Xposed!
[*]The SafetyNet is thereby lost.

There's no point in installing MagiskManager. When you flash Magisk.zip, it automatically installs the manager apk. If your phone is not rooted, all you have to do is to flash the Magisk.zip in TWRP and that's it.

actually you can fix safetynet in honor 6x:
1. disable Hisuite HDB in settings>advanced settings>security
2. Go to developer options and enable adb debuging
3. go to apps and go to google play services and force stop it. and clear data (you know how to do it...)
4. run safetynet test
5. profit?
NOTE:you'll do this again if you reboot it except number 1...
EDIT: it works for me in my stock rom but IDK in other roms...

If we have twrp from open kirin team installed, do we still need to flash this twrp or can use the same one?

Just realized that this is the same OpenKirin TWRP. Proceeding with Magisk for the first time now

Which version of the are you using. I had one from open kirin team. Are you trying to boot to recovery with USB connected? Are you on emui 4/5?

Emui 5, tried using both versions, the one from your thread and the one from the kirin team thread.

Both are same file. Not sure why this issue. I flashed today couple of hours ago to install magisk as i did fload to be on stock.

I have tried all the guides, same issue each time.
My phone is unlocked, but I get an error loading the img

Did you try relocking amd unlocking the bootloader again? Try once buddy

I figured it out, I had adb installed previously and it was opening it from a different place than I expected, so Berlin was in the wrong folder.

Only unlocking with unlock code. That's enough. Then activate OEM unlock and Debugging Mode in the Settings.

Working for me buddy. I was helping him as he had issue
Thanks for this..i got the confidence and was able to install magisk without issues which was not doing earlier

When on the step to flash busybox_magisk I get notified that magisk is not installed, magisk needs to be installed first, and then error "Updater process ended with ERROR: 1 Error installing zip file '/external_sd/BusyBox-Magisk-1.25.zip'?
I flashed magisk again, rebooted to recovery, tried busybox-magisk again, same error.

Hi , I've unlock the bootloader then flash twrp but any time I enter recovery it ask for a password.
I've try formatting data partition from twrp but it's the same...

I got this xiaomi mi max3(MIUI Global 10.3.3) at some auciton and I was trying to flash TWRP, and it seemed to be failed.
The bootloader is unlocked from the start and flashing TWRP is succeeded, but either by command prompt or by pressing buttons
I can't get into TWRP.
If anone has any idea please help.

Orange Fox works but I get the same message about the password I got with TWRP. What is the difference?
By the way: I was able to flash magisk with TWRP and all seems to be fine, I just disregarded the TWRP notification about the password...

I did not want to format anything. I just left it as is (clicked cancel at the password) and flashed the ZIP for Magisk. All works fine after this

anyone tried to root recently? i am also iinterested

No. Maybe it's coded better for Xiaomi phones?

Request Unlock from Xiaomi.
Wait for 1 week. (98 hours)
Search "XiaoMiTool V2"
Don't bother with image flashing. Just follow XiaoMiTool V2.

The recovery from nigel8 is outdated.
Use orange fox because since a while nigel8 one doesn't support encryption.
Then follow the others steps explained

This is actually quite easy
1. Unlock the phone using the well documented process
2. Download TWRP for Mi Max 3 (on your PC)
3. Get ADB tools on your PC
4. Download Magisk.zip on the phone
5. Put your phone in fastboot mode
6. Boot TWRP on the phone ( no need to install, you can disregard the encryption comment)
7. Using TWRP flash the Magisk.zip you have downloaded
8. Reboot - and you are rooted

Project Treble & S10+

So I have spent a bit of time testing out project treble roms, cant get any to boot unfortunately. It might be a twrp thing who at this point knows?
Hopefully some Roms & possibly kernels will pop up In the coming weeks or months
Was worth a try, if anyone has had success with GSI's and getting them to boot, please share your method......:good:

I got my S10E to boot phh's v112 gsi, backlit broken so screen very dim, some other bugs to: some settings and apps crash.
How to:
Make sure you have an exynos version
Have an stock rom installed, bootloader unlocked and rebooted into stock and make sure oem unlocking in greyed out in dev settings.
Install recovery (latest fixed version)
Use multidisabler and format data (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s10/development)
Reboot recovery
Install GSI, A/B version
Mount system and use TWRP file explorer to delete rw-system.sh in system/bin
Reboot , may need to press power, volume up and bixby few sec in inital boot.

Successfully flashed ......just transitional animation bug, brightness can't be adjusted....but it's not dim....Pixel Experience Rom.

Pixel Dust ......
Just testing out one more, they both boot fine (Pixel Experience & Pixel Dust). ..
Obviously Fingerprint Scanner is non functional also the same brighteness bug (cannot adjust).
Here are some screens of Pixel Dust.
I'm guessing with a little bit of work these roms will be just fine....:good:
Root also works as it should, as your booting to a rooted system....

If you report the bugs with logcat to phh telegram group i suppose he will fix it for sure.

I was getting bootloops every time i try to install a GSi.

Thanks. By the way, do we stilll have the magisk after GSi? In other words, as of S10 now have restriction on installation of magisk into system partition and it has to be installed into recovery partition, (the Method using Ian's patched TWRP and Magisk), how GSi interact with root and TWRP?

Gsi do not touch recovery or magisk, maybe needed to patch recovery.img with magisk to be able to boot tho

You can control thé brightness with modifying a build.prop setting just check the git issue on phh site.
Do you mean with last (fixed ?) twrp, can we power off the phone without bootloop ? [emoji16]

How do you get root after flash GSI? I used the TWRP(and Magisk) pached by Ian's method and got root on Stock after install the MAgisk Mananger also patched by ian. After flash any GSi, i loose root and im not able to install any magisk manager.

Twrp is root, so if you reboot by the method you should be aware of then you'll be booted into a rooted system :good:

Flash magisk ou supersu from twrp as usally.
Not the patched or prepatched provided file lol.
Else some aosp roms are prerooted with supersu. They are tagged *-su* in filename

No, all us snapdragons have locked bootloaders, no root.

I am. BUT there are several bugs to be addressed such:
Not working:
Bluetooh/NFC
Fingerprint
Proximity sensor
Auto brightness (manual does)
MTP
Force closes on any app info in settings
Im using because the progect is very promising and phhusson is open to user's reports so, im trying exactly to do that feedback and speed up the development.

Stock Recovery
You need adb drviers and unlocked ZenFone 6 on WW_17.1810.1910.73 or WW_17.1810.1911.110
First install last Magisk Manager
Open setting of Magisk and add custom update channel https://github.com/solohsu/magisk_files#custom-update-channel
Download ZenFone6RootXposed-10.73.img or ZenFone6RootXposed-11.110 (i have add stock boot11.110.img, we will need it for next update)

The Magisk part works smoothly, but the Xposed part never works, producing a bootloop
I have extracted the boot and applied magisk, loaded the Riru Core module, but when loading ElderDrivers, the phone stays in bootloop

Tried to use Sandhook first, but ended up with YAHFA instead due some xposed problems (xposed not detected).
Had an old version of Android 9, so i first upgraded it to "UL-ASUS_I01WD-ASUS-16.1220.1909.194-1.1.1" (only supported upgrade path - 9 to 10), then to "UL-ASUS_I01WD-ASUS-17.1810.1910.73-1.1.1-user" (your specified .73)

the device stays on the Zenfone boot screen without doing anything else

Why will we need the stock boot for the next update? We can't make menully update after root? I just want to make root not install xposed.

thanks a lot, this a really easy way to get root, but i have a little issue, i had my phone with NO pin code or fingerprint before using this method, and now if i want to ad a pin, password or gesture it simply does not get saved, every time i do the procedure to set the pin it does like if i did nothing, anyone has this issue, or know how to fix it, is there a problem if i hard reset?

In the latest build .110 ctsprofile is false while basicintegrity is true. Is it due to the root or the rom has not been signed by google?

Don't flash Xposed using Magisk Download, flash it manualy :
EdXposed v0.4.6.0_beta
You will always get bootloop with v0.4.5.1_beta

UPDATE for 11.110
flash boot.10.73.img for update safe
And do the same with 11.110 files.
Don't forget to add custom update channel in Magisk
And use v0.4.6.0_beta for xposed

Hi everyone, I hope somebody can help me out to solve an issue I just got with my zenfone,
After using an advise from DaConcho for getting back screen lock after unlocking bootloader I got in another situation.
I followed the instructions from the post and everything was going fine, I boot thought adb with the provided patched boot for Q .110 and that far no issues , when I open magisk manager to download magisk from the alternative source magisk manager prompt to complete the installation downloading some necessary files, not the magisk version, just said some files, and I click yes, then it installed something and reboot, phone started fine, but when I wanted to start the process again I found out that I loose PC connectivity.
I have no connection at all, even if I manually boot in bootloader I can't connect to PC, so no adb commands,
Please can someone help

I ain't got twrp, can't really flash it to my phone cause of my banking app. Hence patching the boot image is my only option.
Just wandering if anyone succeeded in getting rooted that way

Did you try magisk hide (in magisk) on banking app?
Root isn't giving me any problems on my banking apps.

That's not it. Flashing twrp cleans the phone and to reinstall the banking app, it takes about 4 weeks to restore its full functionality ( for security reasons it's got only limited functions initially).
That why I'm seeking to root it through patched boot.img.

Can I ask which version of TWRP you flashed? My phone updated to 12.0.1.0. I have tried LR twrp, twrp and orangefox, but when it wants to boot to recovery, it just goes to a black screen for a few seconds, reboots and boots back to MIUI.

- Go to Advanced > file manager

Hi, can I flash this recovery on MIUI Global 12.0.1.0 (QGGEUXM) system via fastboot?

Back to the topic... has anyone managed to root their MIUI 12 phone with this method? That is, by flashing a patched boot image?

This method is only for stock miui android 10 ROMs.
Not cfw recovery or custom ROMs.
I'm on 12.0.1.0 QGGEUXM.

If there's any app still throwing out about errors bcoz you're rooted, try this combo: Magisk Hide + Storage Isolation.
It does the job for me.
Some banking app detecting root via unconventional method: looking for certain folder in the internal storage, such as TWRP.
Dunno how they do it coz they doesn't ask for storage permission at all.
Storage Isolation eliminated such problem along with Magisk Hide.
