[Tool] "Efficency Mode" and Battery-Mod Info for Custom Roms - Moto Z Themes, Apps, and Mods

mcs was renamed to acc
MCS Info, or Horrible Hack based on the Android N Quick Settings Codelab
(mostly relevant for Moto Z... users)
I'm using mcs for "efficency-mode" In the default settings mcs will charge the battery if its lower than 80% and only up to 90% charge.
https://github.com/Magisk-Modules-Repo/Magic-Charging-Switch
This is a small app to make using it more pleasant.
It has a main-view that will show the battery and service status of mcs.
And a tile to toggle the mcs-state.
normal tile means that mcs is active
tile greyed out means that normal charging is enabled
This tile will also show the charge of my Incipio Battery Mod when its connected. When the mod is charging the battery the icon will change accordingly.
Long pressing the tile will open the main app.
Features
show MCS and Battery Info
tile: toggle mcs-active / charging
tile: show mod charge
tile: show whether the mod is charging the battery
tile: long press to open main app
Needs
mcs installed https://github.com/Magisk-Modules-Repo/Magic-Charging-Switch

Bugs
Will crash when no rootaccess is given (I will probably never fix that)

Thanks for the app its working really well but i have a question, if i run "mcs 80 75" via terminal emulator and use your app only to check mod battery level would it cause any problems?

If you plan to move this project further, it's a good time to work on supporting the beta channel. Current status is "good enough as a dairy driver" and the current stable may soon be replaced.

I know about the beta channel, but didn't find the time to play with it, yet.
Does the beta still have the same limit logic?
Then I'll just have to change three lines ?

Yes, it's basically the same.

its a great job, its really useful, do yo have plans for updating to the new version 2018.12.18 (201812180)?
[acc] Non-interactive shell support
[accd] Always overwrite charging switch.
[accd] Higher coolDown sensitivity
[accd] Make sure the number of running instances is at most one.
[accd] More efficient log size watchdog
[accd] Pause execution until data is decrypted.
[General] Rearranged charging switches to accommodate newer devices, such as the OnePlus 6/6T. Reports suggest that these don't work correctly with .../battery/charging_enabled.
[Installer] When updating config.txt, try patching relevant lines only, instead of overwriting the whole file.

Hi, i see you update this tool, i installed it to test it but the only info i get in the app is this:
is this normal?
Actually i'm using this version 2018.12.26.1 (201812261), i tried to search for 2018.12.22 (201812220) but i could not get it.

Yes, the information is normal. (screenshots are from mcs)
Mod and service status is only in the quicksettings-tile.

**BETA** Battery History for Gingerbreak - XXJVK/JVH/JVO/JVP

Hi for all...
This is new "Battery History" BETA application for Gingerbread.
I will increment features and others over the time.
Like my work? Pay me a beer.
The interface is the same existing in older Android versions...
Pay attention!
This is not final version, errors and bugs may occurs.
--- 20110413 ---
This little appl implements old style of "Battery History", that shows:
- Partial wakeup
- Network usage
- CPU usage
- Misc usage
- GPS usage
Spare Parts don't implement this menu in older versions... This is a shortcut to Settings -> "Battery History", but in GB this menu does not exists anymore.
I implementing more functions to release a new version...
--- 20110521 ---
Application still working in new versions of gb...
I working in a little changes in program.
--- 20110528 ---
* A little explain about two colors in a few items...
in a few itens, like "CPU usage", "Network usage", more than one time or data are collected. In this case, two bars are showed.
Eg.
in "CPU usage", the blue bar represents "user time" and red bar represents "system time".
in "Network usage", the blue bar represents received data and red bar represents sent data.
if time or data given collected is too small compared to total time selected, no any bars is shown.
* "Sensor usage" dont shown sensor name but package was using any sensors.
Eg. by my experience in my SGS, sensors related to the Android-system usually point to auto brightness.
---
in working changes:
1) little interface changes
2) show more items
3) solve the damn sorter
4) refresh when reopen, if this cached
5) some optimizations
6) according suggestion of "Marioaguado" add an About (with version) item on menu
---
bug reports are welcome..
requests are welcome too...
Anyone tried this? Me afraid (bump)
Could you please state the already included features and also the advantage of using it over the existing XXJVK battery usage history? In this way users will be encouraged to download and install your app.
This is great, thank you. For you who don't know what this is, it's just the spare parts battery history that didn't work in xxjvk.
Maybe you could do a whole spare parts app with this mod implemented? That way we wouldn't need two apps
Thanks a lot for this stock battery info is pretty useless for fault finding high battery drain, but this is excellent, using it on Desire
+1~~~
Are there any updates to this program yet? I've noticed that the stats it's reporting aren't accurate(atleast on my Evo). For example, it will display 36s of total time for CPU usage and if I go back 5 hours later it still displays the same thing, whether I choose 'Since Last Unplugged' or 'Total since boot'. It always gives the same results, nothing changes.

Hi kenlperry...
It's a little bug. The program can't close when you close this.
If you open menu and set "refresh", all data will be updated.
sorry for a long gap between question and answer..

Hi,
I've got a force close on opening the app.
I'm runnning a gingerbread rom on a Desire HD. It works perfectly for other users having same config...
It happened after full wipe, a few restorations using titanium backup and a battery calibration using this app : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1024867&highlight=battery+history
Any clue ?
solved...I was using Battery History from the market and I thought it was yours...
Yours working perfectly !
Nice
Hello could you explain me what it means the colors Blue and Red in the stats please, this tools is great.
Thanks

Is this normal sensor usage
(and does it drain battery?)
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Update: Seems like "Telefon" is no longer using the sensor after I disabled USB-debugging
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Excellent! Apparently exactly what I've been looking for since update to 2.3/gingerbread on desire hd. Would be happy to buy it.
Cannot understand why these statistics have been removed from the stock rom.
A question, for my better understanding -- what exactly this application does:
- just outputs the numbers already collected/present in the system
- modifies battery statistic-related code handling so these numbers are collected. Any overheads involved?
- I assume there are no modification to any standard system code (default usage statistics, any other power management related code)?
Thanks!
Dmitry.
Is there some documentation for this app? For instance I'll like to know why the Android-system is using my sensors 24/7...which sensor? And is this expected/normal behavior?

some answers...
Hi for all...
dmitryu => answer for your questions...
- yes... data has been collected from the system.
- no any changes in the system battery statistics. Application uses a minimum cpu as possible, no drains related.
- no... application run standalone. no any system changes
no_johnr =>
no any documentation at this time. items displayed are collected from your system. by my experience, sensors related to the Android-system usually point to auto brightness, at least in my case.
see if total Android-System sensor time is the same of "Screen on". A little difference can exists, but comparing with "Display" in the new "Battery Use" item, its the same.

[APP][ROOT REQ][v1.2][2014/05/09] System Status App for Gustavo_s Kernel

SystemStatus App
For Gustavo_s Kernel
Description:This app retrieves the same information as the custom kernel's systemstatus command and displays it in the app's main screen.
Additionally, some or all of the same information can be displayed in a system overlay area, making it available when the app is in the background (that is, while it is still in the Recent Apps list).
Requirements:This app currently requires:
Gustavo_s kernel; and
a rooted phone (which the kernel will do for you. )
Features:Manual and Automatic Status Refresh
The information screen can be manually refreshed using the ActionBar button.
Additionally, an automatic refresh delay can be specified. The default for this delay can be set in the settings/preferences. The value entered on the main screen will be used for the current session and will revert to the set default when the app is restarted.
Automatic refresh can be configured to start immediately on app startup.
System Overlay
The other ActionBar button toggles the display of the overlay service. This service will place a view of the system status information over the top of all other items on the screen. The overlay is totally touch transparent in that it will not respond to any touch operations and will not interfere with any interactions with widgets, apps or notifications on the screen.
The information displayed in the overlay is controlled by the checkboxes in the main screen. Items with a tick will be displayed in the overlay. And, yes, it is possible to remove all the fields. But why?
Additionally, the following preferences are available for the overlay:
position on the screen can be set to one of 8 positions. The default is 'Top/Left'.
font size can be set to one of 5 sizes.
field labels can be left or right justified.
field values can be left or right justified.
background opacity (i.e. how much it obscures the background items) can be set to one of 4 values: None (transparent, the default), 20%, 50% and 80%. Black is currently the only background color.
the display service can be launched automatically on app startup, similar to the auto-refesh functionality. In fact, they work well together. :highfive:

Current ReleaseThe currently released APK(s) are attached to this post and listed below:
GSKSystemStatus-1.2.apk
Changes from 1.1:
Add Polish (pl) language translation - Thanks @galonpzw
GSKSystemStatus-1.1.apk
Changes from 1.0:
Stop occasional double SU check.
Overlay Timer suspends when screen is off in order to preserve battery.
Add 'Exit' command to menu. This is a simpler way to stop both the app and the overlay service.
Code refactoring (non-visible change)
GSKSystemStatus-1.0.apk
Changes from 1.0b8:
Data retrieval is now fully independent of the systemcat command.
Overlay is now a foreground service. This may fix the 'display stops' issue reported by @davidroid03
There is now an ongoing notification present while the overlay is active. This provides quick access to the main app.
Portuguese language fixes.

Do you mind helping with the translation? I don't have the language skills to do that myself and I don't trust online translation to do it right.
If you are willing to help, I can provide you with either the original English text strings or the Portuguese translations, whichever would be easier for you to work with.

I feel as though I am asking a really dumb question.
I see no links to a kernel package in the opening post. Has it been temporarily removed or am I supposed to build it myself?

I am very excited to hear all of these. Mine is coming tomorrow.
I've watched LeEco Le 2 can survive water test for at least a minute (maybe similar protection [IP53] that Pixel phone offers) so that will be a bonus from this awesome phone.

Has anyone else noticed certain widgets crashing/not starting on reboot? I've noticed two particular widgets not starting on reboot:

2) Dark Sky
Netflix WAS added. Sucks that you can't uninstall, just disable, but the bigger point is let US decide what we do and don't want, not you Leeco.

[ROOT] Switcher 4K for Z5/XZ/XZ2 Premium v1.3

Switcher 4K
Hi,
I built a simple app that allow you to quickly switch the virtual resolution between default 2K and 4K without a computer.
Unfortunately, since the command is not available on the userland, the process needs superuser permission to change virtual resolution.
If you somehow manage to break your resolution, especially leading to crash loop of Xperia Home, check on other topics how to restore the original values.
Since the custom feature can be "dangerous" for the reasons above, I added a check when save and switch custom values to avoid any resolution under [email protected] (Z5 Compact default values).
Min Android version: 6.0

Nice! It would make more sense if it said "Xperia Z5/XZ Premium though!
Can you please change? :angel:

Thanks, I will change it for the next revision.
Hey,
Released v1.1, adding App Shortcuts, switch to 2K now reset to OEM values, and FartyParty's request.
Nice work friend. :good:
Hey,
Released v1.2 that add custom values support. Check the first post.
If anyone have more accurate values about the limit resolutions supported by Xperia Home, let me know I will update the security checks.
Looks good! Thanks !

Yes, it is one of the goal of this app, being able to switch back to 1080p without a PC to use apps that doesn't support 4K.
The phone app is the most common known issue.
Is the battery consumption less?
Not much for usual usage, I suppose much if you play 3D games.
There is another topic I don't remember where speaking about this.
When set to 4k, the phone app no longer goes. g8141
Used this mod for over a week I sometimes get like a fpash of white light kind of flickering on.screen

You mean during the resizing ?
Get the screen flashing light and dark like screens messed when it's not though works perfectly. Then suddenly get flickering
Wow looks like weird...
What definition are you using ?
As described looks like a screen issue of your phone.. It happens in 1080p too ?
I saw that the best dpi on the 4k resolution without crashing any app wasn't 807 but 706, 720 or 721, I don't remember exactly sorry
This app do the same job like adb command (wm resolution 2160x3840)?

As far as I know, it does the exact same thing as the ADB command (except through an app).
It said that the newest file couldn't be found (error: 410)?
I tried the older version (1.1) And the program doesn't seem to do anything, is there a way to check?

OPAodMod is an Xposed module that provides OnePlus devices on OxygenOS and HydrogenOS with an always on display like that on the Pixels (and other devices). It's existed for a while, but in the last few months stopped working due to the main developer (RetroX) moving on to another device. I picked it up, and after initially providing modded versions with only fixes and simple additions, was kindly given access to the full source code. OPAodMod has now been fully translated, with a new GUI which is easier to use.
Features:
Always on display, which runs all the time - unlike the OnePlus version
Customisable layout, with options including seven themes, including Pixel and OnePlus (OnePlus supports all the system clock styles too), and a DVD screensaver (it's exactly what you think it is)
Notification display, showing the text of a notification when you receive it and dropping back to just an icon after a few seconds
Live music lyrics on supported themes
Battery Optimisation options such as forcing doze and setting the refresh rate to 60Hz when the AoD is showing
Option to only display when you 'raise' your phone
Option to hide the screen when flipped/in your pocket, disable it overnight, or after a time period (10 minutes or 15 seconds)
Show your next alarm, current weather, and currently playing music
Display a short message (like that on your lockscreen)
Full settings GUI for the module with a live preview of your clock
Quick Settings toggle to enable/disable the AoD
Support for Ambient Music Mod for displaying ambient Now Playing tracks on the AoD

- Install the module APK
- Enable the module in EdXposed or TaiChi
- Follow the Required Setup in the app
- Reboot your device
- Check the AoD is working and set it up how you like

Thanks! Just to confirm, this has burn-in protection implemented? Any idea on the impact in the battery life?

Yes, this has burn in protection. The battery life does take a noticeable hit, I'm looking at ways to mitigate it better.

Thanks for confirming! I'll try it out. Looking forward to more features and optimizations.
This is awesome!
Just installed it now and it works AMAZING!
One thing I really wish it had is the Fingerprint unlock option on the AoD, but i'm guessing it might be a bit more work.
Is there a way I can participate in the development of the module?

Fingerprint works on the AoD. Chances are because you've just rebooted, it's falling back to the PIN. When it works from the lockscreen, it'll work on the AoD.
Unfortunately while I was given access to the source code privately, it's still not open source so there's no public development access.

I just noticed that the FP does indeed work, but the FP icon is not showing for some reason.
I'm on OP7TP McLaren if that helps.
It does show up on the lockscreen, though.

That's kind of intentional, though I would like to add an option to make it show an indication of where the sensor is. It's more minimal without it though.

Yes, it's minimalistic-looking without it, but it would be nice to have it toggleable
If I remember correctly, in RetroX's version it was impossible to hide notification text for apps that weren't China-specific. Is that still the case?

There's a short list of apps that are hidden with the toggle enabled:
I'll probably add a GUI to edit them at some point, but might just add some package names to the list before that.

Thanks for the info! Also, I don't know if it's technically possible, but consider following the system settings for hiding sensitive content on the lockscreen instead of a separate GUI/toggle. I currently have that enabled for messaging and mail apps and it works on the OnePlus ambient display as well.

It would be possible, but I'd prefer to leave it as a separate toggle for now. I'll maybe change it to default to match the system when I add the GUI to pick apps though.
Hi! I love the module, well done! I think it would be cool if you could also add a quicksettings toggle which makes it possible to easily turn the AOD on and off.
Just wanted to confirm, this is for rooted devices only? No way to get this without rooting? Great work, nonetheless.
New bugfix release, version 3.0.1b
Fixes:
- No longer shows 'null' for twelve on word clock
- Added translations for charging states
- Added the following apps as sensitive apps:
-> OnePlus SMS
-> OnePlus Phone
-> Google Phone
-> Google Messages
-> WhatsApp
-> Facebook Messenger
-> Facebook
-> Telegram
-> Instagram
-> Snapchat
-> Discord
-> Twitter
-> VK
-> Сбербанк Онлайн
-> Raiffeisen Online Russia
An app picker will be added later, this is just a stopgap.
Download is attached and also attached to first post

Not possible without root, no.
thanks for this app. Unfortunately couldnt get the "AOD only when phone is raised" option to work on 7T. stays on all the time. Would be nice if it could work on 7T as well! thanks
Hey guys,
I'm so glad to have come across this mod. I've been using this mod on my OnePlus 6 since a couple of hours. I can already say it consumes lesser power than the AOD on custom ROMs.
Thanks a lot!
Sohail
This is great, will there be a slider to change display brightness? Or maybe a way to shut off a checkerboard of pixels to reduce the effective brightness?
