A8 neon flip cover only flashes a few times - is that how it should be? - Samsung Galaxy A3, A5, A7 (2017) Accessories

Hi, I just bought a official A8 neon flip cover, and it flashes fine when i'm closing it.
When I receive a text-message (sms) it flashes a few times, but then it stops flashing - I was hoping that it would continue to flash until I have read the message.
So is it working as expected or do I need to adjust a setting somewhere in order to have it flashing longer?

I have an A3 (2017) with neon cover and it behaves the same, so I assume this is intentional behaviour...

XDA I keeps going to sleep

Tried various WM2002 or 2003 ROMs, and settled back on WM2002 as it seems more stable, but I still have a problem where the phone seems to turn off (no green LED blinking), and when you press the top button to turn on the PDA it is as though you have warm reset it. I think I might be missing calls because of this and will have to change the phone if this is the case. Now when I know I might be expecting an important call I have to keep checking the green LED is blinking! I also get periodic SD card erasure unless I write protect it! Overall it is a nightmare to use because of these two issues.
ROM versions:
3.17.03 ENG
ROM date 5/15/03
Radio 4.21.00
Protocol 32S54
Hi mate, my XDA does the same thing - I have upgraded my ROM too (see profile for version etc.). Best thing I can offer to you is that it resets when bumped or knocked (like if I put it down on my desk a bit too hard), the screen will go wierd and then reset. Don't know why this happens but I keep checking my green light for flashing too. My vibrate function no longer works wither. I plan on calling O2 tomorrow to follo up the issues.
Well, I had the same problem with my QTEK 1010, os 2002, until I downloaded a very good clock/alarm software: pTravelAlarm (make a google search for it). among its functions is a very good one which is Chime, (in alarm menu) it wakes up the device each one hour so it will not get stunned. Now I never miss a call. The only disadvantage is that it makes the battery lasts a bit shorter than before.
john banks, there must be something loose in your device, carefully disassemble it and check all screws inside, if all ok, I'm afraid you might have to send it to a repair shop.
after installing the SER 1.2 special version from xda developer, my XDA run smoothly and I can see the sender of SMS anymore

Modifying stock rom

Hi, I have bought a sort of Huawei clone called MBO P6, it has both the Huawei and MBO logos on the back cover and the Huawei boot animation, although I've seen the white version without the Huawei logo.
The problem is I don't think an Mtk6572 should be this sluggish, out of the box it's an Ok phone but as soon as I install some apps or open (not so) large pages on Chrome it sometimes delays my touch inputs or even take a full minute or more to respond/turn screen back on. When it first connects to the internet it also gets very unresponsive until some social media notifications appear on the status bar, larger games are a no-go, etc.
Anyway, since there's no chance for a custom rom for this phone could I modify the existing stock rom, like zipaligning or deodexing?
Any advice is welcome, I'm open to all possibilities. Thank you.

[Q] S-View Cover Constantly Activating GPS Issue

Hello, I'm new to xda-developers but I am not new to flashing roms and rooting. I have a T-Mobile Note 3 that I had bought about a month ago that has worked well for the most part. (Currently running on stock UVUFOB6 5.0 Lollipop with root) My main issue is that the official Note 3 S-view covers have had this issue where every time I have put either the regular cover or the wireless charging cover, the GPS is constantly being activated and killing my battery. I have factory reset numerous times, I tried searching numerous tips and tricks on how to fix the issue, but to no avail. The main culprits at this point are either the magnet in the front flap of the s-view that controls the screen locking/unlocking or the unified daemon that the default accuweather widget and the weather widget on the lockscreen constantly hunting for an accurate location. I have my location settings set to high-accuracy. I have even tried tightening some loose screws to fix the issue (which has improved gps lock for use without the s-view covers), but I am assuming this issue is caused by the case itself and not the phone.
(TL,DR) The official S-View cases have been giving my Note 3 issues with battery life due to GPS always becoming activated every time the phone is used with the covers on.

According to other forums, the only fix for now is to remove weather from the S-View screen. This will also remove it from your lock screen, but it's the only working fix I have seen.
I have also tried that fix and the case works fine without the weather being shown.

Hardware issue or just a bug with ZUI?

I just tried turning on the 'Show surface update' option under 'Developer Options'. The screen flashes randomly even if I just keep the screen on without touching or doing anything with the phone.
I have a Xperia T2 Ultra, and if I try the same thing, the screen will only flash if I touch the screen, it doesn't flash the screen randomly like the ZUK Z2 does.
Is it happening to everyone on Stock Nougat ROM or just me? I am mainly concerned with the touch sensitivity of the phone, cause sometimes I feel, I'm missing out some screen swipes.
Any advice or suggestions?
I don't think the 'Show surface updates' setting is actually intended to show when the screen is touched. I believe it is used to indicate when the content of the screen changes; for example it might flicker if one of the icons in your statusbar changes like mobile/Wi-Fi signal strength or the clock. I guess the option you're actually thinking about is the one which says 'Show taps' under the Input heading, which displays a spot on the screen when the display panel is touched. (I don't know whether this is available in ZUI since i'm running AEX 4.5)

Thank you for the reply. Whatever you said makes complete sense. But the issue is, I have got few Android phones running kitkat, lollipop and marshmallow, these devices only shows surface update on statusbar area if I don't touch the screen. In Z2's case it flashes the complete screen randomly and frequently, I tried leaving it in settings, a picture opened in full screen etc, but same result.
I don't mind if it's a bug with the ROM, I can flash a custom ROM. But if it's caused by a hardware issue, mostly related to touch, then I'm planning to send the device back for repair or replacement. Just going to be 1 week since I bought this device.
Any suggestions?

I don't think there's anything to be worried about. I actually upgraded to a new phone today, and so flashed the Indian version of ZUI (2.5.104 ST) back onto my ZUK Z2 in preparation for selling it on Gumtree. (Which is the British equivalent of Craigslist, for those in the US) I had chance to test what you were talking about and sure enough, the same thing happens on mine; where the entire screen will occasionally flicker even with an image displayed in fullscreen, so that the statusbar icons are hidden. So unless you are noticing any actual problems whilst using the device, I don't believe there's anything to be concerned about at this stage.

Thanks a lot for checking it out for me, really do appreciate it. Was getting increasingly worried about this issue. You are a lifesaver. Thank you again :highfive:

S20 (European, unlocked) multi-touch problems? Touch panel firmware update?

I'm having multi-touch issues on my new S20. It works just fine with up to 5 touch points, but as soon as you start adding more points (using more fingers), touch panel starts to glitch, with touches quickly "flickering" in and out, as if I'm quickly tapping screen, sometimes working fine, other times glitching moderately or severely, use up to 5 points, and works flawlessly.
I noticed it while using Piano/Synth apps (such as Perfect Piano, ORG 2020), trying to play simple chords, for example every other white key, using as many fingers as I can, playing chords repeatedly. To make sure it's not app specific, I downloaded "Display Tester" app and used its "multi-touch test", same problem, panel registers 5 fingers flawlessly, but using more fingers, problems start to manifest themselves, sometimes immediately, other times not. To completely rule out downloaded apps, I enabled "pointer location" through Android's "developer options", and yep, testing on solid backgrounds (better visibility) reveals touches not registering properly. Removed factory screen protector, tried restarting phone, safe mode, enabling/disabling touch sensitivity, accidental touch detection, changing resolution, updating phone (all the latest updates as of July 3 2020).
The only thing I haven't tried is "TSP FW Update", through secret dialer code *#2663#, hearing horror stories of update failing (even seemingly succeeding) , and people losing touch panel functionality entirely, with no obvious way to flash older firmware since touch panels firmware lives separately from device's main firmware.
● So my question is, problems that I'm experiencing, are unique to my device, or is this widespread/normal?
I doubt many people would notice these problems since panel works flawlessly with up to 5 fingers, no glitches whatsoever.
● Can you, fellow S20 owners perform above described tests, and report back your results?
● Dialing secret dialer code *#2663#, what touch panel firmware version your phone displays? Maybe mine is old and needs updating, but I'm afraid of clicking that button, which leads me to my final question to experts
● Is there a way to backup touch panel firmware, and somehow reflash it, in case something goes wrong. Or once update fails, there's no way for a phone to communicate with panels controller?
Thanks
Just tried and yep, same thing
Also the thing you gave to update touch panel firmware tells me I'm already on latest so there is no point to use it
EDIT: I tried doing the display update thing for you, it didn't solve the problem
replying to jojos38; sharing more thoughts
:good: Thanks, jojos38, especially for your bravery regarding TSP FW update! (I read you still can control your phone using mouse and keyboard if update fails, but it's very challenging to reflash panel's firmware if something goes wrong, if it's even possible, because reflashing phone will not fix bricked touch controller).
I feel a little relieved I'm not the only one. I wonder just how widespread this is, I also wonder if Samsung uses same touch screen controller on all S20 devices. Seems like it's either panels limitation, or a software thing, I doubt it's a defect, because of how well it performs otherwise, but of course, who knows..
If this will get enough attention, maybe Samsung can release an update, or at least chime in.
Let's wait for more replies, and see what others have to say.
