Installed Magisk and v4.4 of the camera mod. WiFi works fine. But the cameras (gcam/xioami) both only show me a black screen.

The camera stops working when the process of installing Magisk is done and the pach of the boot.img fails, you must return to restore your device with the stock ROM and repeat the whole process.
Another option you can change the camera for another better you can update without installing Magisk.
This camera:
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/GCameraN6P.apk
The problem of the camera that remains in black is by the modification of the boot.img, if the failure persists warn me and I try to make a more specific instruction of the installation of magisk.

It's a feature, if you slide up on the fingerprint sensor it will act as back button, if you slide down it will go all the way up of the active page. And if you touch it, it's volume - button. I dont know how to disable it
Search fingerprint in settings, it's under "swipe fingerprint" only shows a gif showing the action but no options

Give me feedback after installing emui 8
List of Roms available in emui8: Elemental rom had fingerprint bug will be fixed in two months.
GSI roms only phhusson roms are working. I'm using this one https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...-development/experimental-phh-treble-t3709659
list of bugs: some gapps crashes, adb and mtp not working, headphones without mic wont detect but gsi roms will update frequently so these bugs will be gone.
final stock emui8 no bugs you can flash gapps and use it as stock emui8.
be careful with gsi roms. if you accidentally enter into e recovery while on any gsi rom you need to factory reset otherwise your internal storage wont detect.
Finally you need to factory reset after every gsi rom you have flashed and factory reset only works with stock recovery. flash this https://mega.nz/#!cbJFAIQD!qvp1KnZ0qxlg6nHDFmpM5qyZ9QUVIDe5PoZE0BQf8fs
this stock recovery for emui8 will do factory reset otherwise gsi roms wont boot.

instructions :
1- shutdown your device completely.
2- enter fastboot mode by pressing and holding the Vol Down + Power Button button until you see xiaomi's mi bunny with a blue "fastboot" text underneath it.
3- connect your device to your pc via usb cable.
4- on your pc check if you have fastboot configured properly and your device recognized by typing:

if it's detected then you're good to proceed to the next step.
5- flash the twrp recovery image by using the usual fastboot commands.

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
in our case it should look something like:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-TWRP-3.3.0-0517-XIAOMI8LITE-CN-wzsx150.img
6- unplug usb cable and hold the Vol up + Power Button (don't let go of the buttons untill the devices vibrates) and let it boot to the twrp recovery you just installed.

I'm not really sure if you could do it with TWRP's built in file manager without root
You could try
I've seen people do it with adb but haven't had the chance to try it yet

Thank you for the reply. I've done it in Mi A1 but I don't know if it's the same procedure because of the MIUI. One of the links says that we have to change something in kernel to do it.
It would be good expert people try it to see what method works. It's sad that the Mi 8 Lite doesn't have a proper forum until now.

Hi Malek,
When you first boot to TWRP, were you asked for the decryption password? If yes, did you just format data to skip this? I was asked for the password and my screen PIN did not work. Just wondering if there is no other choice that to format data.

to this point i don't really understand how encryption works on this device
it's on by default i guess
so what i finally did the other day to be kinda sure of what's happening
i flashed stock rom in Mi Flash with the clean all option checked
i set up the phone for the first time without setting any fingerprint or security or anything
after that i flashed twrp
from twrp i flashed dm verity and encryption disable
get it from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/universal-dm-verity-forceencrypt-t3817389
(make aure to read the first post)
then formatted data
after that the booted up and i set it up normally
and then booted to twrp again to flash latest magisk
now when i check if my device is encrypted using this adb command "adb shell getprop ro.crypto.state"
i get "unencrypted"
so i guess it works? i don't know lol

It looks like your phone was not encrypted (or was encrypted with MIUI's default password) when you flashed TWRP, as you had clean flashed stock then set up without setting security. That you could start TWRP to flash "dm versity and encryption disable", without being asked to input a password first, shows that TWRP was able to handle the default encryption (or no encryption) of the clean MIUI install.
In my case I already have a screen PIN set up on my phone before trying to install TWRP, and this version of TWRP can't handle it. Another difference is that I have not actually flashed TWRP onto the phone but have merely booted to TWRP via fastboot. I wouldn't have thought that this would affect TWRP's ability to decrypt the DATA partition though.
In hindsight I should have just done the minimum setup after the phone was wiped by the bootloader unlocking process before installing TWRP. I guess that unless there is another version of TWRP out that can handle the screen PIN encryption, my only option is to wipe clean the phone so that I can repeat what you did. However, now that I have reinstalled everything on the phone, I am a bit reluctant to do this just to get root. I think I will wait until there is an AOSP ROM available and do the wipe/format at the time of switching. Hopefully I don't have to wait too long!

An update: I've now got over this encryption thing. It is indeed the screen PIN that was causing me problems. While I had tried removing the PIN and all fingerprints last time, I had powered down the phone immediately after removing the PIN and booted into fastboot mode. Today I thought I better try it one more time: after removing the PIN, reboot the phone to system first before powering it down and restarting in fastboot mode. This cycles the phone system at least once without the PIN so hopefully any traces of the PIN would really be wiped. And indeed it works - the booted TWRP (i.e. not flashed to phone) has no problems reading my phone and I could install Magisk.
So I now have stock recovery + Magisk on my Mi8 Lite, which is the minimum I wished to do to it. Maybe at a later date I would flash TWRP onto the phone as well.
i cant unlock my mi 8 lite, say user portrait scores too low or black, i activate all need, oem, usb, sync device. no work, any help?
Everything is ok for global rom.
For the language twrp asked directly at first launch for it and you don't need anymore magisk, you can install it directly from twrp. ( advance/install root ) it'll install the version 17.1 and you can update it from the app on the phone.
No problem for reboot into twrp ( volume up + power) even with fingerprint.

yeah i know there's no problem in turning the phone off then rebooting manually with the buttons
but i was talking about using "fastboot reboot recovery" command to reboot to recovery from fastboot directly

Hey.
We dont have any specific gcam for our device. The one i provided is the best so far.
For information, this gcam works (motion picture) https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/gc_6.1.021_whyred_06a.apk
It is working on xiaomi eu stable MIUI rom
It is working properly! Thank you!
Rom version : MIUI by xiaomi.eu 10.3.4 | Stable. (V10.3.4.0.PDICNXM)
Android version : 9
I followed the steps exactly as it is.
What works :
1080p 30FPS & 60FPS video recording with EIS, 720p 30FPS & 60 FPS with EIS, 4k 30 FPS only without EIS, Panorama, Portrait mode, Normal Camera mode with Night Sight, Photosphere, Google Lens.
What doesnt work :
Slowmotion - App crashes.
Camera 2 Probe results : Went from "Legacy" to "Hardware level 3"
Default MIUI camera did not have 4k30fps mode. But it does have 480p 30fps along with time lapse and Slow motion which works.

The back camera's portrait mode clicks normal "zoomed-in" photos. It's not like the default MIUI camera's portrait mode. So I use the MIUI camera if I need portrait mode
And selfie Portrait mode on GCam doesn't work (It doesn't click a picture but doesn't crash the app either). I just found that out lol.
Apart from that normal modes are working in both back and front cameras for GCam

When signing up for this website you sign a waiver that you are the sole person responsible for your device. Bootloops too.
Don't wanna have it bricked ? Don't mess with it.
Nobody's telling you to do that.
How about some gratitude and appreciation for those who take the time and trouble looking for a solution. Sponging off others work and whingening about it ?
Show some manners.

Flash recovery for snapdragon version, i'm using: OrangeFox Recovery
Please do everything that is written for flashing recovery (Installation), u need to disable encryption and wipe data
reboot and check if phone is on "hello screen"
How to boot on recovery first time:
Uncheck reboot after flash AP in Odin, unplug cable and then push vol - and power -> immiedietly after turn off download mode hold vol + and power and plug in cable -> now should work
Flash GSI image:First you need to download image from here: Image with Google Apps or find image here: all images here
Remember to use arm64 with b !
Reboot to recovery
Now u should see on PC when u connect via cable internal memory - copy image to folder, probably should be "Fox" or create new
Touch files, find image
Now select to flash System image
Reboot
And thats it you should boot to system.
Post install settingsOn Phh Treble Settings set:
Samsung features:
Use alternate audio policy
Enable stereo audio mode
Enable extended brightness range
Enable double tap to wake (if u want)
Enable reversed wireless charging (if u want to reverse charge other device)
Enable access to all cameras
Enable extra sensors
Misc features:
On Display set rounded corners diameter to 44
Force FPS to [email protected] if you want 120Hz refresh rate display
On camera set expose aux cameras and force enable camera2api
To disable AOD u need to uncheck quick setting on desktop.
That works:
Dispaly with 120Hz
WiFi (5GHz too)
Sound with stereo
Camera back and front
RIL also works (mobile data checked)
MHL
Fingerprint sensor
Bluetooth audio (tested on Galaxy Buds 2)
And probably rest of functions
Not working/problems:
Google Pay app nor NFC
Galaxy wearables
Device have strange model build name, so most of the apps will be problematic.

Can you help me with it?
Tried with this beta: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...re-forked-and-ready-to-go-live-again.4510729/
but not success. It is enough me when it emulates for example S20 FE or similar.
Also tried with latest official, but the app, which is need to it still shows TrebleGSI.
because we need to change something in build.prop not via hide props. someone with root on stock samsung rom need to copy all strings from build prop and upload here. Changing name on settings do nothing, because on google accounts still show something like GSI-romish phone. And safetyfix only hides phone on g appstore and on gpay to simulate vaild phone.
of course no one cares to make full ported rom only some s**ty oneui ports, so we can only use GSI system image. Still - all cameras dont work even if you try to use via opencamera.
I flashed this to my s21 fe and it all went fine till I found out the fingerprint scanner doesn't show up at all in settings?? Is anyone else having this issue?
Can't download anymore as zippy share has gone. As of 26th April
if you want to root phone u need to extract image from stock firmware or put AP image to internal memory and in magisk patch it and flash. (or just extract boot.img, patch and flash via recovery)
So my recovery only gives me these options.
