Redmi Note 4 MTK Nikel overheat and Auto reboot after change thermal policy to 120c - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hello xda. i need your help.
as you all know that the redmi note 4 mediatek version is lagging alot when you play even only mid game processing aplication. when i play games for like 5 minute it starts lagging allready. what i know is that when this device temperature gets 45 degrees, the CPU hotplug will lower the CPU frequency or turn off the other CPU cluster to prevent the device gets overheating and drains too much battery. but this will cost out our gaming performance and cause lagging issue.
so i've modified the thermal policy to bypass the CPU hotpug to get maximum performance out of this device but it only last for 10 minutes and it auto reboots when it gets overheating, but i dont care if this device gets hot because it is common for a mediatek chipset
You can do it by editing the build.prop and change the line ro.build.type=user to ro.build.type=eng and then go to mtk engineering mode and change the thermal policy setting.
for me this device is like not capable of doing anything more than being just like an old device except for whatsapp and other social media. it's like the device has a powerfull processor but only for decoration.
The only problem now is that the device will auto reboot everytime it gets overheating and needs to cool down in order to be used again. and my only question is how to prevent the the device auto reboot when we use the 120deg C thermal ?

laggy gaming performance

i bought the zenfone 2 (4gb ram,2.3ghz)yesterday and after updating the firmware to WW-2.20.139 , some games like temple run 2 and asphalt nitro are running with lag, even at minimum graphics quality
I changed the power saver to performance but still nothing happened. Btw,i didnot try any game before updating.
please,help !
Try rebooting into Android recovery mode and clearing that cache partition.
Here is the process.

did you face the same problem?
still didnot work,i wiped the cache but still lagging
After the first update phone lagged and suffered from excessive battery drain. Wiping the cache partition cured my problem.

iam really worried, i had high hopes about this phone but all are shattered, can this be a hardware problem? or is there any fix to this problem
Same phone, no lag here. Maximum settings.
same phone and same firmware.. I don't play a lot of games, however of all the game I play, I never notice any lagging
Same phone, same update, but have lags too.
I did not have this problem when I tried CyanogenMod 12.1 on this phone, it must be the Asus firmware who has problem.
Wipe and reinstall only last firmware with a clean flash. It solved similar problems to me some time ago.

Gpu throttling
That because gpu throttling. I test with gamebench. I choose need for speed no limit. I let my phone heat up at start line and after a while. Fps and cpu temp drop. Because gpu is too hot and need to dropping gpu frequency to cool down around 457 mhz or lower. (default is 533 mhz) That's why the game lag.
The solution for gaming without (or less) gpu throttling is playing while charging or has fan blowing behind the phone. Kinda crazy but I tested and it's work for me.
pic 1: Cpu temp increase. (not throttle)
pic 2,3: Gpu throttling, cpu temp decrease, game lag and slow.
pic 4: Playing with fan blowing behind the phone. (not throttle)
anyone has any other solution fo this, please suggest !
I have this problem too try factory data reset,
Or if you unlocked install project t kernel
I gave factory reset but nothing happened , is this a hardware problem
i did some benchmarks though -
Antutu benchmark v6.0 - 62656
Basemark OS II - 1276
geekbench 3 - single - core score - 913
multi-core score - 2894
updated to the latest firmware version but still no cure
plz help !

Stop CPU overheating at boot (Media Scanner fix)

If you use CPU Temp monitoring (there is an Xposed mod) you will see some scary temperatures (+/- °80) coming from the Exynos CPU at boot, and it takes a while to cool down.
This is mainly caused by Media Scanner, the Android system service. It occurs with every Rom I have used on the Galaxy Tab T-700.
The best, and easiest, way to disable Media Scanner is with SD Fix Tool. Just use it for this function, I wouldn't advise using any other features.

Is my Note 4 defective?

I need somebody's help. The coolest my Note 4 CPU/GPU seems to get is about 53 degrees C and that's when I turn it on after it's been asleep on my desk. It is not a rogue app or anything like that because I have done both Factory resets and I have install custom roms, so everything has been factory reset multiple times. The water damage sticker indicates no water damage whatsoever. I know phones can get hot when gaming, my Note 4 gets to anywhere between 70 to 85 degrees Celsius and I am just wondering if that's normal I reduced my screen resolution to 720P and disabled two cores of the quad core processor and it does not seem to help one bit. Is this temperature normal or do I need to get rid of the phone?
PS when doing normal browsing it seems to hover around 60 to 67 degrees C
And the battery does not seem to go over 37 degrees Celsius

Okay, so I got rid of my Note 4 so this is off of memory (full-disclosure). My Note 4 always ran pretty hot when it had to do anything. When flashing ROMs I'd be lucky if the CPU was below 70 C and any time I'd be playing a GPU intensive game it would get too hot to touch. I never had a lot of issues with the battery temp being too high though despite this.
As far as solutions go:
1) Screen res might help.....but I would try my other suggestions first
2) I wouldn't recommend disabling cores, it just makes the other two have to work harder to accomplish the same tasks and may be worse overall.
3) Kernel adiutor will allow you to do two things: adjust thermal throttling and adjust max GPU/CPU frequencies. I always reduced the max GPU frequency on this phone to lower the temps and adjusted thermal throttling to 55 C. The only CPU adjustments I did were to make sure the CPU wasn't overclocked.
4) I know you said it wasn't a rouge app, but get a task viewer (this is a good one) just to make sure (I had Nova taking 25% CPU usage in the background because I restored it from TiBu).
I saw your post in the NSeven thread and decided to respond, but please in the future try not to post errors in other threads unless you have the issue in that ROM. It sounds like you might have the same issue in that ROM as well, but you didn't say so in your post.
Well first of all I would like to say thank you! I have been hoping for a while that someone would have some knowledge on the subject and I very much appreciate yours. Secondly, I apologize and I will try to refrain from posting the wrong thing in the wrong area in the future. Thirdly I have kernel auditor when I changed their frequencies on my CPU cores they just change right back. If I set a minimum it will stay but then if I try to set a maximum it resets them both to the default setting. I will turn my other course back on though thank you for that information do you have any idea why I may be having this frequency issue?

You're welcome, and no worries for the post . As for your third point it would be really helpful if you tell me what you're running.
Could you list: kernel, ROM, root method, Android version, and any kernel mods (govtuner, skynet, etc)?
Also, does the same thing happen when you set a GPU max frequency? Have you tried having the settings run on boot and then reboot the phone?
Yes I have tried that a couple of times I am currently running the nseven ROM with the CPU frequencies set at a minimum of 300 megahertz and a maximum of 1190 megahertz, or at least that's what I'm attempting to do LOL I have not tried changing the GPU Max frequency. The N7 ROM I believe is Android version 6.0.1. here is what I have tried
Wiping cache in recovery
Starting in safe mode
Factory resetting
Turning off certain settings such as WiFi calling, data Etc.
Using apps such as greenify to limit background processes.
Changing screen resolution to 720P
I actually installed this ROM hoping that it would make a difference because I have the same exact issue on the stock ROM before I ever unlock my bootloader or rooted my phone at all. And according to the sticker on the back of the phone it is not nor has it ever been water damaged. The picture I have attached shows my phone's activity just while writing this reply to you. In the bottom left-hand corner you can see the statistics. Sorry for the Inception lol

Since you're replying to both threads I'll keep my responses to your other Q&A thread to make life easier .

processor not running at full power

Is it a known issue that HTC One m9 phones are underclocked to prevent thermal problems? Because when I open up cpuz to see what frequency the cores are running at, the highest core 0-3 go to is 1.5 gigahertz. Core 4-7 never go higher than 700ish megahertz and only 2 of them are ever running at the same time. I have a custom rom installed that enables Vulcan support, but even before flashing the rom, cpuz was showing the same results mentioned above. Power saver is turned off, there are no programs that are changing the core frequency in any way, and high performance mode is turned on in developer options in settings.
Any suggestions on how to possibly unlock core 4-7 frequencies to go all the way to the advertised 2 gigahertz? Or did I just turn on a setting that somehow affects possessor max speed?
Yo boy i have a answear for you in kernel auditor go to cores and make sure you disable core 8, core 6 and core 3 and maybe set the governor to deadline and irq blance to 0
NOW you have to go to vendor folder in system or root folder / . and delete thermal.conf or so at 10 you need to go system root /vendor and delte the file reboot and now you have unlocked full performance

Question How to disable High-End-Mode on Red Magic 8 Pro?

I used Skyline to try out Switch emulation performance. In the otions i switched on "force max GPU Frequency", so the GPU always runs on full power. I was able to play Burnout Paradise in 1080p @ solit 60FPS. However, after about 15min the Phone gets hot like hell and starts throtteling the SoC. The Notificationbar shows a "G"-Icon witch says, High-End-Mode enabled, this will drain the battery faster and generates more Heat.
The thing is, i unchecket that option in Skyline but Android still goes High-End-Mode everytime i start up Skyline, no matter what I do. In the Nubia Gamelouncher I set CPU and GPU to ballanced but it didnt change. I uninstalled Skyline and reinstalled it, but still Android goes in High-End-Mode when I start the App. I know that there is a 4. Performance Setting on this Phone but its hidden like Dev Mode. I searched the whole Web but not even Google found something useful.
So, is there anyone here who knows how to get to this hidden performance setting?
This information would be verry useful, thx!

Try *#62742654# in the phone app, where you can make a call. This give you a possibility to enable and disable the ludicrous mode. In my opinion the phone should not throttle the performance with maximum cpu and gpu Performance enabled.
Damn, the code didn't work but seriously appreciate it, since I like to save battery in some or other way
