Question How to disable High-End-Mode on Red Magic 8 Pro? - Red Magic 8 pro

I used Skyline to try out Switch emulation performance. In the otions i switched on "force max GPU Frequency", so the GPU always runs on full power. I was able to play Burnout Paradise in 1080p @ solit 60FPS. However, after about 15min the Phone gets hot like hell and starts throtteling the SoC. The Notificationbar shows a "G"-Icon witch says, High-End-Mode enabled, this will drain the battery faster and generates more Heat.
The thing is, i unchecket that option in Skyline but Android still goes High-End-Mode everytime i start up Skyline, no matter what I do. In the Nubia Gamelouncher I set CPU and GPU to ballanced but it didnt change. I uninstalled Skyline and reinstalled it, but still Android goes in High-End-Mode when I start the App. I know that there is a 4. Performance Setting on this Phone but its hidden like Dev Mode. I searched the whole Web but not even Google found something useful.
So, is there anyone here who knows how to get to this hidden performance setting?
This information would be verry useful, thx!

Try *#62742654# in the phone app, where you can make a call. This give you a possibility to enable and disable the ludicrous mode. In my opinion the phone should not throttle the performance with maximum cpu and gpu Performance enabled.

Damn, the code didn't work but seriously appreciate it, since I like to save battery in some or other way

Auto adjust processor?

Hi!
I'm looking at Dell AXIM X30 with WM 2003 SE.
In energy config, i have the processor tab! I can setup the processor to Performance, Economy or Automatic.
Performance = Max clock: 624 mhz
Automatic: Change the clock automatic! (This option save much more energy than auto backlight adjust).
Somebody know if this is available for other WM? Or if exist a cab to install this?
Sorry for english!
nueDynamicClock?
Tested!
Working fine!
Thx!
On the lowest setting i dont get any sms notification sound (its set to keep the screen off)
what is your lowest setting? you shouldn't go below 112 mhz.
Lowest the program offers of course, 19,20 but since i didnt get my notification sound i set it to 61,44
Why not below 112?
Yeah, I wonder how because I can't see that the ROM that I've used able to make Video Telephony.

because below 112 mhz stuff stops working and/or strange stuff starts to happen.

you got it right what it does. install the cab and then restart your phone. under settings -> system you'll find a new icon, "Processor".
- set "on battery profile" to "Power Savings"
- click "File" and go to "Configure Profiles"
- choose "Power Savings" (surprise...)
- activate all settings and leave voltages on "Auto".
- from top to bottom set these 4 speed-settings: 528, 384, 256 & 122.88 MHz.
- set "after system is idle for" to 10000 ms
- "ok", "save" and you're done.
these settings save power but don't cause any freezes or lagging. [...]

So far nothing strange happening with slower speeds.
well, either wait for it or you're lucky. ^^
depends on what is going on = how much processor-power is needed. i just reinstalled and noticed that with 112 it takes some seconds to come out of standby. 245 and it's on instantly. but i'm running a rather heavy rom feature-wise, so slower values might work depending on your system. (rom and configuration)
for example, i remember 112 mhz to be the lowest setting where music-playback in standby was smooth, below it would stutter. also there were some people were sms-notification wouldn't play during standby with values too low.
bottom-line:
play with it. the settings above are a guide-line.
Ok my phone doenst really have anything to do in standbay except get calls and sms. Notifications didnt work with 19mhz but work finde with 60. I also tried calling me to see if it works.
But now im afraid it wont always work and set speed at 120mhz

huh? that's exactly what we've been talking about in the last 5 posts...
Yes, but is the original post! kkk
... not really, no. it's quoting mine. kkk?
not that it really matters anyway.
The profile exceptions dont work for me. I set some apps to Max Perfomance but the still work in the PowerSaving profile..
Any idea what i am missing?
Where you find "profile exceptions"?
"file" and the "edit loader" and set it to "max perfomance" or what ever you want..but doenst seem to work..

My SGN seems to have significant problems with 3D graphics performance in games...

Hello,
I am the owner of SGN since september.
I am really disappointed, because there seems to be a problem with 3D graphics performance: and to be precise with its FPS consistence. In some 3D excessive games (GTA in particular, but also Trials Xtreme 3, NFS:MW and other AAA titles) there seems to be a problem: there is a certain interval of time when a game works perfectly, and then for a few seconds it slows down WITHOUT A REASON and then plays good again. This seems to be particulary a problem in GTA games where the game slows down to a mere 4 FPS, and then continues to run flawlessly for 20-30 seconds, then slows down again for a few, and so on.
PLEASE help me xda, you are my only hope. Noone seems to have a clue on what can potentially cause this weird problem.

First of all, thanks for Your response.
Yes, I did triet turning the force GPU thingy on. Doesn't seem to help.
I think background apps are not an issue since I tested my phone after formatting it and it was clean.
Facebook syncing? What do you mean?
If you use the Facebook app, it might constantly trying to sync. You said you had the same problem on a clean install though so I'm thinking that's not the problem
I bet that the cpu is at 70 C, and the Thermal Throttle enter in function.
I had the same problem with dead trigger (i found that it automaically set up the Tegra effect)

Yes, the phone do gets quite hot after a while actually!
So is this behaviour normal? And how should I fix this, if it is at all doable?

When the cpu reaches the thermal throttal temperature (about 70°C) it slows the cpu down so that it cools down. When it reaches the 70°C mark again the procedure repeats. So if you would turn thermal throttle off it shouldnt happen again I THINK. But I dont recommend doing that. Stay safe, keep your baby safe (gnex )

Well, I cant find these "power saving" options mentioned in a thread above. Can anyone help me to find them? Are they even present in SGN?
And how can I disable thermal throttling, just for the test?
And thanks for all the help so far!

CPU possibly defective

I've been noticing something with my cpu that seems strange to me. I run an app called system panel to monitor my phone for various things and I've noticed for the past few days that my second core is constantly sleeping, even under a full load it stays at 100% idle and system panel says that cpu 1 is asleep. I downloaded kernel tuner and it says that cpu 0 is active but cpu 1 is offline. Was running stock rooted with no tweaks or other things added so i tried using odin to go back to stock but I still get the same info. The first screenshot is from kernel tuner with root and the sceond is from system panel with no root. Could my phone be defective?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Try system tuner in the play store. It has an option in settings to force the second core online, all the time. Set it to always on, and set it to boot that way. At least you can test it to see if it can be forced online. It is normal for the second core to be sleeping most of the time. In your first screenshot I see a toggle for cpu1 on/off at the bottom. You accidently toggle that?
Also, what's up with your CPU temp being 32°F? Are you in the arctic tundra?
You could also try flashing a new kernel. I believe there are a few for touchwiz based ROMs. IMO you should go aosp based ROMs. Slimbean4.1.2 with asdk kernel is the best performing rom/kernel combination I've ever flashed
there is no spoon.....
I tried flashing other kernels when my phone was rooted but it kept giving me the same thing. I tried the toggle in kernel tuner to see if I could turn the second core on after noticing the issue but it did nothing. System tuner was able to force the second core on for a bit but about 30mins after boot, the core went offline and has not come back on since.
Update: found out why core went offline. Apparently, if I touch any frequency settings such as core speed or governor for either core, the processor doesn't like it and shuts down the second core. Not sure if that's normal or not. Once phone is charged enough, gonna try flashing a different kernel to see if the same thing happens when I try to change the speed and governor.

Here is a long story, but please read it all as I really think it will help explain how the two cores work together.
I had/have the same thing. Exactly as you described it. Here is what I found (What I think anyway). I ODIN'd to stock, rooted, and installed Trickster MOD. That app showed only one core working. From reading up on Trickster MOD changing any CPU settings will apply to both cores. I changed the speed, and check the info panel. It showed both cores at the same speed that I changed it to, but the second core was still not moving. I reset Trickster MOD to default, uninstalled it, and installed Kernel Tuner. Same thing. Only one core was working. I started to think it was the stock kernel, so I flashed Tiberius, Jedi, and am now on Faux123. All kernels are doing it. It's not a kernel issue, but a kernel/Stock ROM function. Here is why I say that. I installed CPU Stats, and enabled it to display the CPU cores in the status bar. 99.9% of the time only one core was working (When I mention "99.9% of the time" I mean only one core would be working for about five minutes at a time. Which would lead a person to think somethings wrong since they normally wouldn't stare for ten minutes at the phone's kernel stats trying to catch the second core come on, and think only one was working.). I did catch the second core come on very briefly, so I knew it was working even for a split second. When I did see the second one on I tried to quickly open whatever kernel tuner I had to see what the cores were set to, and what they were doing, but by the time I opened the app only one core was working. I did some thinking, and I opened Lookout and ran a full scan, opened a couple more apps that use a lot of CPU. Then I opened, and kept on top my kernel tuner. To my surprise again 99.9% of the time only one core was working. Even if the CPU load was at 100%. The second core never came on, BUT it was because the first core wasn't at 100%. The CPU load would get to 90% when the first core would hit 100% under heavy load, but no second core was working at all. I finally watched it long enough to see a pattern (Like 15 minutes). The second core will only come on when the first core is at 100% AND the CPU load is at 100%. Then the second core kicks in. Once both cores were working at the same time the CPU load quickly dropped back under 100%, and once it did the second core shut right off to leave the first core do the work. So long story short your phone is not broken. That's the way it's meant to work. In my finding anyway. I'm running the stock ROM from ODIN with Faux123 JB release 1 kernel. That's all my mods are, and running quadrant I get an average score of 3730, so I'm thinking both cores have to be working to get a score like that. Here is the Play link to the CPU Stats app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.takke.cpustats
And here is what it looks like in the status bar (The last icon on the left showing both cores at max in one screen shot, and the second screen shot showing only one core working. Just to show it does show both cores working separately.):
Thanks for the explination. I watched everything like you did and same results as you. I'm grateful for everyone's input. It puts my mind at ease knowing that everything is like it should be.

It's easier to show in pics that type all the stats. Here you go:
Not sure if me forcing my second core to be on constantly did something or what but I just ran quadrant twice and I got a score of 5661 the first time and 5981 the second.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
damn dude. Now that's a score. Obviously your battery life will suffer with that kind of performance. If still using system tuner u definitely want to turn that second core back to default. You dont need all that muscle. I run at 1.18ghz/ lag free governor monday - Friday and 1.67ghz on the weekend. Battery life is more important to me. And everything is still buttery smooth. Glad all is well, your phone is back baby.

cpu going nuts for no reason

I'm on stock, rooted, s-off
my device is getting extremely hot during normal use.(i dont play games at all, just whatsapp, facebook, news etc..)
sync is off, auto brightness.no google location reporting and history, no google now or history.
and using bbs to see what is going on ,i have no wakelocks and looking at battery screen, screen on time and awake time are almost identical.so nothing is keeping my device awake.
but for some reason, when the device is idle, the cpu goes nuts!
i installed cpu status bar xposed module so i could monitor cpu on real time, and i see the device jumping allot from 300mhz to 960 and 1000+ for no reason.(without touching it, and no apps running).when i touch the screen it scales to maximum.
it drives me crazy because i dont understand why the cpu behave like that.there is no logical reason for cpu going to max when i'm typing text.
its unbearable, cause its getting really hot while i hold it.
i have tried various kernels(elementalx, skydragon, faux, ionx, hacker kernel, but all of them shows that behavior.
on my old i9100, i never got that behavior, ondemand governor was perfect and i could reach 4 hours of screen on time.with the m8, i can barley pass it , going for 4-5 hours, because its draing too fast.
any suggestions?
*EDIT*
tried a factory reset, and i just installed xposed with cpufreq status bar module, and the device is still going nuts.WTF?
Can I ask... are you sure this is abnormal? I mean, are you seeing ill effects? Is the device laggy? Is your screen-off battery time awful?
All OS's do stuff in the background, and "idle" doesn't really mean anything at all to be honest -- even when you "don't have any apps running" there are apps running, and you'll always see the CPU cycle from idle to low speed to high speed if you're looking for it.

i know there are background process and apps, and i don't except the device to stay at 300mhz all the time, but its quite annoying to hold on to a device and feel its temperature rising to insane levels without doing anything fancy with it.just texting.and every touch ramp the cpu to the max frequency, its weird.and unnecessary.
i don't know if its normal behavior, as i mentioned, my old i9100(galaxy s2) would not act like this. and i could get 4 hours of screen on time, and here, i get 4-5 hours max.it dose not seem logical.
I'm not using lte of nfc or BT.my reception is full(both wifi and cell).
i just want to know if this a normal behavior? anyone else having this heat buildup on light use?
I have a similar problem there on M8S. I killed half the background tasks, disabled syncing, auto backups, and then I open FBreader(or any other app) at 30% brightness and all the cpu cores go to 50 degrees C, heat up my battery to 43 degrees C. It results in loss of 40% of battery charge in just an hour. With screen off my device usually consumes 1-2% an hour. Whatever I do, I have never seen at least one core sleeping, they always work at 600-900MHz.

General Adaptive refresh rate, apps stuck in 60hz

First days, after I got this phone, I've seen that the refresh rate is adaptive between 60 and 120hz. The last two days refresh rate got stuck on 120hz, no matter what I did, it was only 120hz, except some apps. Today it's back to adaptive. Bug maybe?
Some apps are stuck on 60hz all the time.
File manager - 60hz
Google photo - 60hz (by comparation, the gallery app is 120hz).
Music app- 60hz
Mi video - 60hz
YouTube - 60hz (scrolling the comments).
Sometimes settings app and the entire UI is stuck in 60hz untill I switch to 60 and back to 120.
My s21Ultra and Z Flip 3 are 120hz on YouTube and Google photo and all other apps.
I know you don't need 120hz to view a photo or video, but it's about scrolling. And apps look ugly when scrolling on 60hz after getting use to 120 for a long time.
There's a list of apps that are to be stuck on 60hz .... Inside battery and performance apk
You'll find games , apps and whatnot inside all limited to 60hz
Benchmark apps are also there For that extra performance boost you won't actually be able to use anywhere else...
I'm pissed because I want to play mobile legends at 120hz and am not able to !
I unlocked FPS to 120 but all in vain , phone is permanently stuck at 60hz...
just buy a new phone... Non Xiaomi
My first and last time using Xiaomi
Ps. I tried everything! Nothing works as a fix , only thing I didn't try is editing battery and performance app and removing apps I don't want it to limit...
I mean I tried but it broke the phone ...
( Bootloop and after I got out everything else was broken like fast charging, GPS , Cellular... )
IF you have time you can probably figure this out , sit by ur pc and keep trying until you get the phone to be able to boot with modified app... It will require tons of reflashing probably a day or two of work at least. It's possible but I'm not gonna be doing that for mobile legends...
YouTube, Google Photos etc being 60 Hz is on purpose by Xiaomi.
There is also a bug where your phone gets set to 60 Hz randomly for all apps. When that happens, you have to set 60 Hz and then 120 Hz again, or enable & disable Battery Saver through a Quick-Tile, that's faster.

You can remove the 60 Hz limit and force 120 Hz all the time without Root & with Root:
Root method:
1. Install this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.iamaner.oneclickfreeze
2. Disable the system-app "Battery & performance"
Non-root Method:
1. Get this program for Windows: https://github.com/Szaki/XiaomiADBFastbootTools
1.1 It needs Java installed. This Open Source version of Java worked for me: https://adoptopenjdk.net/
2. Enable "ADB Debugging" in Settings > Developer Options & connect phone to PC
3. Launch Xiaomi ADB Fastboot Tools, and disable "Battery & performance"
Basically, the system-app "Battery & performance" is doing the Refresh Rate-Limiting. It's safe to disable this system-app.
You will lose the item "Battery Saver" in App-Info's, but you can still disable Battery Optimisation in Settings > Privacy > Manage > Special app access > Battery Optimization.
In return, every game and every app that support 120 Hz, will use 120 Hz now.

Removal or disabling of the app disables many features and breaks even many more....
Fast charging does not work , GPS is not able to track location real time and is messing up when it does report location... Cellular radio constantly turns on and off , that's only the few stuff I've notice before reflashing.
All on latest beta version ... I remember seeing the same on miui vn as well.
Refer back to my post above - either modify the app to remove the strings or don't touch it at all!
If you have free time try disabling it on the latest global beta with performance mode on and report back if the charging is gone ...
( This one likely requires flashing system to fix all of the issues following disabling/enabling the app... Even the simplest tweak to the adaptive refresh rate breaks the module completely - you get spastic switching between 60/120hz on touch in apps that render at 60fps . Correct behaviour would be for display to remain at 120hz for 2 seconds after touching screen but after pretty much any modification this behaviour changes and you get stuff like display going back and forward between 120/60hz WHILE YOU'RE TOUCHING THE SCREEN, or simply having it instantly switch to 60hz as soon as you stop touching screen. Both are insanely annoying and in both cases I had to flash system to fix all of this ... Clearing data will likely result in the same thing as well - like tldr. is don't disable/uninstall the app and don't touch it's data ! I'm yet to confirm whether modifying app while preserving data will be issue free or not ... But hopefully you get the point now )
It should be , only way I see it allowing for fast charge is if it's silently enabled for the background user ( Like when you enable dual app support ). In that case you'll have to test and see what works and what doesn't....
Overall I still do not recommend this , you probably will lose all the benefits from the performance mode toggle as it likely utilises this app for all the device tuning...

It never goes away trust me. I've disabled every single app on this phone to the point where I've butchered the system enough that it wasn't able to boot again - and still the display would always go down to 60hz when not touching the screen.
It's likely that no app controls that , is kernel related or something like that so out of your hands.

I think my method disables that! I haven't found a way to keep the "variable refresh rate".
Although I have to say, Poco F3 doesn't really have Variable Refresh-Rate Support. ^^ The term is not correct, even if people use that term for the Poco F3.
It's not hardware-supported like G-Sync or FreeSync monitors, so it can't adapt the Refresh-rate to e.g. the current FPS in games.
It just sets 60 Hz when you don't touch the screen, or when nothing is rendering on the screen. It's simple software-logic.

Which rom are you on ? Latest global beta with performance mode enabled or something else? I didn't have the issue on earlier miui before performance mode but now it's the same thing whenever I uninstall the app. I have it stuck at 2000mah charging ( Battery is basically not charging at all when gaming as those 2000 mah soon get eaten up when cpu and GPU ramp up so you end up actually discharging while plugged in )
Unless you use app like cpu float I can't really compare our results... ( It's asking me to recalibrate battery before I'm even able to use the app or see current and I'd rather not go through that when the battery is well calibrated already... )
I've attached screenshot bellow , now it's showing 15000 charging at 100% battery , it goes up to 25000 when the device is at like 20% battery. With original cable I've seen it go up to 35000/50000 current so definitely not correct metrics , but overall it's consistent.
Now when I remove the battery and performance app it drops all the way down to showing -2000 as current , and when a game is opened up it goes into positive 500 - 1000 range. ( Negative means charging, positive means discharging by that amount ).
I've had it happen last 2 times after removal of the app , instantly the fast charging works no more and phone drains while plugged in. ( I've uninstalled the app so disabling it might keep the fast charge but I can't say whether performance mode tunings will remain )

I use the latest Xiaomi.eu Weekly.
AccuBattery's "Recalibration" just means it does a little check. It will ask you to connect your phone to a charger. It doesn't modify anything.
The negative current in your screenshot means it's discharging. And yes I also think your mentioned 25000, 35000/50000 milliAmps or Amps are not correct.

Don't do my method! It's not safe actually. I found out that disabling system-app "Battery & performance" breaks some background activity.
I'm really sorry. I edited my posts to remove mentions of that method.

It's been two days since the problem disappeared. I have 120gz in all the apps and no 60hz drops at all. The only thing I changed is I logged out of mi account. I'm on EEA latest stable stock.
Just clear data on battery and performance. That locks display at 120.Im using phone like that for 20 days now. Didnt notice any problems after it, but use with caution. To revert you just need to reboot phone.
I won't be watching this thread further... But everyone that replied saying no problems with this / that - enable show refresh rate inside developers option and use it for a day or two while gaming/doing whatever...
It's not that there are no problems ... It's just that you don't know how to look for them.
I've used all these fixes before and now I'm not using any because of the aforementioned problems like what's described in my first post. Fast charging and GPS mishaps are new stuff that I haven't seen before this beta , you might not see if you're not on my software build but everything else like refresh rate acting spastically is old news and will happen if you mess with the app ... Reboot does "fix" the refresh rate by going back to enforcing 60hz locks but it still exhibits spastic behaviour randomly
If you need that 120hz unlocked for a specific app and you aren't able to modify the app instead of butchering it like this then go for it ...
Everyone else steer clear, you're introducing lots of instability to your phone all for that 120hz scrolling inside YouTube...
Well I'm on 12.5.3 eea. If its that bad maybe i wont update when it comes
In 12.5.6 stable, clearing data from battery and performance app isn't doing the trick anymore. Some apps are forever stuck on 60hz now.
Yeah. And i forgot to disable auto update
Im using youtube vanced now and have normal youtube disabled so at least that stays 120hz.
You can bug ouy normal youtube by going to recent apps ,then clearing them and doing that few times, but thats just bug.
We should pressure them to give us ability to enable that as an option. like fill their feedback app with that suggestion
Go to developer options, logger buffer sizes and set it to off. That fixed the file manager being stuck on 60fps for me.
