Problem connecting to Wi-Fi

Ok.. now that ive had time to cool off, here is the problem.
I work at a University. On a laptop, connecting to the Wi-Fi is a fairly painless process. Its a secure network, so it requires us to use our credentials (ie, our network login/pass phrase) to even connect to the Wi-Fi. Note that when i say pass phrase, that means its farily longer than a standard password. My own is somewhere in the neighborhood of ~20 characters.
The problem with my Touch Pro 2, lies in the final process of connecting to this network, where it will ask me for this information (login, password, domain). I get about 6 characters of my password in, before it pops up a message saying "Unable to connect", as if it thought i was done typing and went ahead and tried to connect.
Heres more info.
Auth: WPA2
Encryp: AES
EPA type : PEAP
Ive tried using Portrait keyboard, Landscape keyboard, and hardware keyboard.
edited for more info.
Seriously? NOBODY else has had this problem?
damn
my touch pro2 has this problem, too
anybody help us
I have connected to 3 Wi-Fi' with passwords of 8-10-12 characters and have no problem so far. Try making sure wifi is off before connecting??...Tj

umm.. then how will i see the network?
The issue is, in the way it asks for it. Its not something i can make a cert or something i can type before hand. Only thing i can do is try to connect, the Network will then ask me for a log in. If i manage to get it typed in, in time, i can save it and it will hold for a bit, until something happens like the network goes down. Which then, removes the saved log in, and i have to do the whole dam process over again.
No problem here and I use 20-character network keys on my WPA or WPA2 encrypted wireless networks (I manage or maintain several of my friends or clients networks)
Can you add and configure a connection to your network by pretending it to be a hidden network (non-broadcasting SSID)?
changing to hidden didnt work.
Ive also tried going into the Advanced settings, and on the LEAP tab, entering in my information manually, but when i do that and try to connect, it attempts to, then stops, tried to connect to a saved network that isnt in range, then stops like it didnt find anything.
LEAP - you need to configure to a domain network?
How did you try configuring for a hidden network?

Aye, we use a domain, and i have that info typed into it.
I just went though the network settings and check the box that it was a hidden network?
still having this issue. Trying to use the Enroll section by typing in my creds doesnt work, as it just tries to connect, sits for a second, then disconnects. At some point id like to try a cooked rom, but not gunna do that for a while (least till i read over it a couple more times) and even then can't guarantee the new rom wont have the same problem.
Any other suggestions?
bump-bump-bump
nobody know how to fix this hua
Anyone have any new info about this? i still cant type my password in fast enough..
Is their anyway to get it to WAIT for me to hit connect before actually trying to connect?

WiFi issues

Is anyone else having WiFi issues? Like my phone won't connect to public WiFi like at McDonald's or Kohl's or any place I open the WiFi settings pick their WiFi and right away it says 'failed to connect'. Even at my house it'll connect and after awhile nothing will load. Facebook, websites they just keep showing that their loading but never do. I have reboot to get it to work, and I'm on stock everything.

I'm having this part. Every now and then, especially when I leave my home wifi range for a bit then come back, the wifi will connect, but websites. email, etc will load forever and never get anywhere. I find that I don't need to reboot the phone entirely though. I just have to disable Wifi and then reenable it again. After that, everything will work correctly, but it's still not supposed to do this.
I have tried cycling the router's power several times, and it never fixes it. It's all phone related for me. Other than this though, everything else seems to work fine except for text messages occasionally taking forever to send (another issue for another thread).
I've tried rebooting the router but it does nothing. When things won't load on my phone my sisters phone works fine. Its just this phone.

Hmm, we could try some troubleshooting steps.
1.) Go to Setings>Networks>Wi-fi>Advanced Wifi
-Make sure "Internet unavailable" setting is unchecked under notifications then under "Useful Settings", try first to set "Keep Wi-fi on during sleep" to always, and leave unchecked "wifi signal weak" as well as "Allow Wi-fi scanning"
2.) You may want to change DNS settings of the phone
-Download a DNS changer app (set DNS, And DNS changer, Override DNS, etc). Next, try setting primary DNS to 8.8.8.8 and secondary DNS to 8.8.4.4 (Those are Google's public DNS)
3.) In terms of browser usage, you may want to observe on which browser (stock, or 3rd party such as chrome), does the issue occur more frequently. Then go to that browser's settings and do some re-configuration.
4.) If the problem is more evident when you connect to your home network, you may want to access your wireless router settings and change some settings such as the wifi channel, rts threshold, etc.
5.)By the way, what phone model are you using, and is it tied up with a carrier network?

Try it yourself, G4 unable to autoconnect to any open WiFi ('internet unavailble')

I would like to invite everyone to try if they have the same problem
For me, I have done a lot of testing, and I have found that, with any open WiFi hotspot (ones doesn't require wifi password to connect, with captive login or not), even G4 saved the network, half times it won't autoconnect.
When you go into wifi setting, the network is there, and there is an message below the nextwork saying:
"internet is unavailable, cannot autoconnect"
But if you tab it manually, it will connect and fine. I tested it with multiple hotspots and all have the same problem. I tried all different ways like delete the networks and re-add, nothing works.
Any of you have same problem please confirm below and let us know if you have found a solution, this is yet another ridiculous problem LG4 has and not fixing it, who are they to decide internet is available or not on a wifi hotspot?
my G4 is 812 10c
Any one encounter the same problem?
Yes I have this issue also. Don't know what would be causing the problem

Thanks for confirming,
Very annoying issue and I am surprised it hasn't be raised and discussed in here.
For me it is way worse than occasional touch issue
Any solutions will be appreciated

I can confirm I have the same issue with mine. Very annoying.
Thanks for confirming, again showing it's not an isolated instance.
Is this issue only for Hotspots? Or any Wifi device? I ask, because I don't see a problem with my WiFi router at home.

For me it is only for open Wi-FI (no password required to connect), the tend to be public hotspots.

That underlined bit is interesting.
so it seems this only occurs with open networks ie ones that don't require a userid/pass.
otherwise you have no problems connecting when there required login is required and is saved already.
eg. your home wifi ?
some more reading led me to this post.
My G4 doesn't have any problem with the open network at my work. It connects automatically as soon as I drive in the parking lot, if I leave and come back, as soon as I'm in range it re-connects just fine.

Have we considered this might be done on purpose as a safety thing?
You shouldn't want your phone/laptop connecting to any OPEN network automatically that you haven't vetted. This is how scammers skim passwords, etc., by offering 'free' wifi hotspots in busy areas.

Not quite, it happens on open networks that I have connected to before i.e. saved and as you put it vetted.
Connecting to saved networks that are passkey protected works fine.
Yes that's right, for me the network that requires password has no problem to auto connect
And the post you linked for refresh DHCP, I tested and it doesn't solve the problem

Then there is no problem here is there ?
I also have this problem.
To clarify, my situation is for open wifi where the provider redirects you to a webpage where you click "ok" or "accept" to proceed.
The first time I connect, it's fine. But, when my phone tries to auto-connect the next day, it gives the error described. So, I have to manually open up wifi connections, view the list, select the wifi name, and connect.
So it works fine after some manual intervention, but there is a bug I think in how the G4 handles these types of open wifi connections, once they are saved in the phone's history and you try to connect again later. So there is a problem here, but it's somewhat nuanced and easy to miss.

Your description sums up the situation well.
Doing what you want could create a problem of another sort. read this.

No this is not the same.
i only want G4 to autoconnect to network I saved before, meaning the one i have used before and want to use it again.
The problem you are referring to is having android auto connect to random networks, which of course should not happen.
Also G4 currently does not connect to open wifi that doesnt require login either. Even it clear have good internet connection, it wont reconnect, which is clearly a bug

see this is where it gets tricky, that post was referring to networks set up by a telco around the city. the ssid is the same its not a random network. This is exactly what you want.
you accepted it when you were in location a, now you are at location b and want to connect. so it should connect automatically ie no different than if you were to return back to location a.
You said home wifi works, so leaving wifi on, walk out of range and then come back in range and it connects automatically. And you expect the same behaviour with an open wifi that you accepted prior.
Way i understood it is that guy is complaining about what you want with open wifi
Thanks for clarifying.
I went back to re-read the post you pointed out. OP of the thread wants to block all the open wifi hotspots with paywall. It is not because he/she used one paywall network work in location A and doesn't want to use it again in location B. OP never used the paywall network (because it charges) and doesn't want to ever connect to it again, in that case, delete it from the saved network list should solve the problem.
In fact, Op also wants to use non-paywall open wifi, which is same as what I want here with G4. We both have the same need, which is auto re-connect to known, used, and trusted network. Here is exactly G4 cannot do and clearly having a problem. As I said before, even for network that is open, no paywall, and no log in required, G4 simply cannot auto connect, and claim "internet is unavailable", which is false and need to be fixed. Furthermore, even if there is a captive login, G4 should not refuse to auto connect before informing user so. While LG clearly has no problem sending tons of notification for their bloated LG smart notices, right now there is no single notice about WiFi auto connect failure, you will only discover the problem after you open WiFI set up page.
I copied OP's own words from the other thread FYI
"here are random open wifi networks everywhere that allow my Android to connect to their network but won't give internet access because there is a paywall"
"There are a wide variety of providers like BTOpenZone. I'd like to block them all, adding exceptions if I ever find a non-paywall connection"

Connecting to my college WiFi causes my entire phone to go unbearably slow

I have a zenfone 2 with cyanogenmod 12.1 which is android version 5.1.1. However I installed it to try and get rid of the issue no luck, the same problem existed on stock. The security method of the WiFi is wpa-tkip, using EAP. There's another wireless point but it gives an authentication error so I can't even try it. It does not happen on the WiFi at my parents house, nor does it happen on 4g. The phone goes increasingly slower until it gets basically unusable until Google play services and gapps stop responding and close. Is there anyway to fix this? My phone becomes unusable using the school's WiFi, and Google play services and gapps force closed twice while typing this. It only happens while connected to my college's WiFi, 4g and an unpassworded WiFi connection does not encounter this issue.
Try changing DNS in advanced setting of your wifi connection to googles DNS 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4
Wait for 5 minutes after connecting to network as some apps detect network changes and respond to that.
Try to find such apps if possible.Install adaway.

Wifi Tether Router

Hello,
Here is the problem.* My phone is rooted with CF-Auto Root. I downloaded SuperSU successfully and then downloaded the .APK for Wifi Tether Router.
It successfully downloaded! * I open the application and go to configure WIFI ROUTER, I then receive a notification from the program saying, "WARNING You are currently using Android 4.3/4.4 If the network is not transmitted, disables (UNCHECK) the 'Scan always available' from the screen that appears.*
That message was verbatim from what my phone was saying.
Once I close the message the phone automatically opens my phones IP settings. Network notification tab is unable to be turned on and of, it is currently selected as "ON", and Passpoint is currently selected as "off".
I press the back option on my phone and it takes me back to the configuration screen for "Wifi Tether Router". I then begin to change my device settings starting with method. I choose* Method 3-(HostApd) and press back. I choose WLAN0 as my interface. I scroll down to Prevents Stand By and make sure IT IS checked. after that I Make sure that HostApd Patch is checked off as well.
I scroll down to APN settings and my screen is completely grayed out with all the different Access Point Names unavailable. the ADD option is also grayed out.
I then set my Hot spot settings.
ssid- wififorme
encryption - wpa2-psk
wifi password -* ihatecheeseburgers
wifi channel- 1
*
Im done at this point. I press back and I am at the home screen for the program. I select ENABLE WIFI ROUTER and phone request ask me to grant* access. I do. The phone disables router then resets the radio and the phone is enabling WiFi Router.... waiting... phone grants access and it displays my wifi settings.
The program is now running at this point but is not sending data or receiving it. I jump on my laptop and the wifi network is not showing up either.
What did I do wrong and how can I fix this issue?
