[solved] decryption unsuccessful - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Questions & Answers

Hello,
I just unlocked my bootloader after waiting for 30 days.
Then I flashed official twrp via fastboot and booted to it with
Code:
fastboot boot twrp-3.2.3-0-whyred.img
I wiped Dalvik / Art Cache, System, Data, Cache but NOT internal storage
I flashed the PE extended 9.0 rom.
Now when I reboot it wants me to enter a password, I entered my PIN and it says:
Code:
Decryption unsuccessful
The password you entered is correct, but unfortunately your data is corrupt.
To resume using your phone, you need to perform a factory reset. When you set up your phone after the reset, you'll have an opportunity to restore any data that was backed up to your Google Account.
I click on Reset Phone and it reboots into TWRP and then automatically boots the system and again it wants me to enter my password.. and again the decryption unsuccessful message
In my first attempt I wiped everything including internal storage, then rebooted to recovery again and then installed the rom, but that didn't help. So I had to flash MIUI with the mi flash tool, then I did all the setup etc. and tried the method I used above..
But I always get stuck with this decryption unsuccessful.. What am I doing wrong?
//EDIT:
Solved the problem by TWRP -> Wipe -> Format Data -> Yes.
Now I feel stupid haha, I shouldn't do this stuff after working a night shift..

format data is the only way to decrypt

HTC 10 doesnt show up in Windows explorer apfter TWRP wipe

Hello guys,
I just installed TWRP onto my HTC 10. I unlocked the bootloader and flashed the recovery with TWRP. I backed up the default system and then wiped the Dalvik /ART Cache, the system partition, data partion and internal storage. As I now wanted to install LineageOS my device doesn't show up in the windows explorer. I tried rebooting the phone into recovery mode but it didn't work. So basically I can't accses my phone from my pc.
Can you give me some advice?

I booted into TWRP. I chose "wipe" and then selected "format data". The description of "format data" already says "will remove the encryption of your phone". So I formated my phone, insalled LineageOS and GApps and the system is running, no password needed.

So basically you wiped everything you could without knowing what you were actually wiping, and what wiping that stuff would actually do to your phone?
When you wipe the system partition you won't have an OS unless you flash a ROM directly after.
Place a ROM onto your extSD and put that into your phone. Boot to recovery and flash the ROM.
I'm aware of what a wipe does, but I wasn't prepared for this case. I flashed a couple Samsung Devices and after flashing them I still had access to the phone via my pc as long I was in recovery mode. But it seems to me, that I found the problem. The device is, as far as I know, encryped by default and a signal loss after wiping/flashing the device is common.

However, I managed to install LineageOS and GApps, and the system boots. But after the boot is completed I am facing a screen where I have to enter a password to unlock Android. And I dont know which password I have to enter.
Do you know how to continue?
Thanks for your help, I really apprechiate it.

Obviously you didn't exactly know, because if you did you would have known that wiping /system would leave you with no OS.
Not slagging you here. I did the exact same thing when I had just got my 2nd gen Nexus 7 and switched to TWRP from CWM for the first time.
For your password issue:
twrp > advanced > file manager > data > system ~ delete the locksettings.db files and reboot
Thank you for your reply!
Unfortunatley, the folder "data" doesn't contain any subfolder or file. Do you still know how to unlock my device?

bricked or not bricked ?

Hello,
I have received my z Play a week ago, applied last 7.1.1 OTA everything OK
Then i decided to start flash rom
First : i build Lineage for my own => fasboot boot twrp => Flash OK => boot lineage OK , nice
Second : i try Gzr Validus => fasboot boot twrp => wipe all / data and factory reset => flash OK
but impossible to start : it ask me a password , ok no problem but after : "Decrypt unsuccessful. The password you entered is correct, but unfortunately your data is corrupt. To resume using your phone, you need to perform a factory reset"
ok.... i have already done a factory reset but i re boot in twrp and re factory reset, same problem
I rewipe everything, reflash, same problem
i have tried to format Data and cache partition using ext4 instead f2fs, same problem
retry with lineage , same problem
it's like my data partition was still encrypted or like it was still corrupted even after a factory reset
i would prefer avoid to flash/downgrade stock as i have read lot of people are bricked
I have to say sometimes Twrp fail to wipe and is stuck, i have to force shut down and retry.
any suggestions are welcome

After flashing the sybria 9.0 rom into my mix 2, my phone stuck in the fastboot mode.

After flashing the Syberia 9.0 rom into my mix 2, my phone stuck in the fastboot mode. Every time I tried to reboot my phone, my phone will go right into the fastboot mode. I could get into the TWRP, and I perform the 'wipe' serval times.
This is what happens on my phone:
wipe the system---- flash the rom ------ reboot ----- fastboot mode
I don't know what happens with my phone. Pls help me guys:crying:
Could I try to use the official miui fastboot update via the mi flash?
Try installing again with "Clean Flash". Wipe System, Cache/Dalvik and format Data (don't wipe data).
Backup your data first, because your data will destroy.
I believe you should already have the ROM, Firmware and Gapps into internal storage.
Now boot to recovery.
Wipe Data (if u are decrypted, format data)
But be aware that formatting Data means that you have to again copy everything back to internal storage using adb. So my advice is to just wipe and see if that works out.
Install Firmware, ROM and Gapps zip.
Order of installation should be same.
Reboot - 1st boot may take some time.

Wileyfox Swift stuck/boot loop

Hi all.
I have a phone stuck in boot loop. It's a stock ROM, Android 7.1.2 (January 2018) but I dont have exact image reference (Wileyfox/switf/crackling 7.1.2/N2G48B/eeea277114 from recovery mode) . Secure boot is still enabled and phone is locked, but I have the unlock schema
When the phone boots, it stucks approximately 2 seconds after the lock screen. The screen then turns off and it reboots after a few minutes. If I am fast enougth, I sometimes have time to unlock but it freezes immediately after, and reboot after a while.
It started after the phone has been turned off. The last application installed is the GEEV application. Maybe it's the cause, or maybe the phone is full.
What I tried:
As stated in Facebook Wileyfox post ( unable to post full url: officialwileyfox/posts/1844545742523409),
I can access the safe mode (vol down at Wileyfox logo), but it does not change anything, it still stucks and I can not deactivate the last application installed.
I can access the bootloader and recovery mode, but I cannot access it via adb / fastboot (linux), I suppose because I cannot enable acces in devolopper mode in phone setting. I tried to update an older image from SD card, but the phone refused to downgrade to an older image.
I also tried to wipe cache partition.
Photo and contacts are backup, only SMS are not backup and I would like to access it.
Do you have any suggestion to access user partition or unblock the phone wihout wiping user data?
Thanks
If you can reach recovery mode there should be a phone reset option that can clear the apps.
Here are recovery mode choices:
-Reboot system
-Reboot to booloader
-Apply update from ADB
-Apply update from SD card
-Wipe data/factory reset
-Wipe cache partition
-View recovery logs
-Run graphics test
-Power off
I already tried wipe cache partition without result.
But I didn't try wipe data as this will also wipe SMS, won't it?
SMS should be saved to the cloud and restored when you enter your gmail account after the reset.
No it's not saved, that's why I need to access the phone if there is a way
If you can unlock the bootloader you could install twrp recovery which has an mtp mode which would give you access to your files. Suspect unlock bootloader will not be available to you.

Data Encrypted - Never setup any encryption

The so far...
Installed TWRP
Noticed I could not boot into factory ROM - TWRP boot loop?
Tried to factory reset from TWRP - failed; Data could not be mounted.
Changed the file system of Data to extf2; Repaired Data; Changed Data back to extf4
Factory Reset - completed
Still could not enter factory ROM - TWRP boot loop?
ADB sideload PixelExperience Custom ROM - allowed TRP to push app; boots into ROM to initial setup (G with progress bar) but doesn't advance after 15 minutes
Vol down + power -> Menu > Recovery
TWRP asks for password to decrypt data (**Edit - this is TWRP's initial screen after Logo)
*Edit* at no point in the life of this device (I bought it brand new) was it ever encrypted
At no point did I ever set a password or try to encrypt data. How do I fix this?

TWRP Asking for password. Please help. I've never set a password

.
Did not work.
Take a breathe...
In TWRP mount internal storage and select all toggles... Back to TWRP main menu select wipe / format data - type ´yes´
To wipe the rest go back to wipe / select all toggles and wipe it
Now you can flash like your way... If you want to sideload you must activate it in TWRP by Sideload /ADB... otherwise you can flash from external storage i.e. USB stick or whatever you want....
Format data partition is important to decrypt and wipe possible encryptions...
In future pls don´t change the data formats i.e. extf2 / exft4 or let repair them in TWRP in case you can´t handle it via ADB... TWRP is a nice tool but too many ppl bricked several devices by using this method or use unofficial shady versions...
If you try to flash PE you can push the rom on internal storage after fullwipe and after a recovery restart you can install it from internal storage...
I remember some strange TWRP times where we have to mount internal storage and partitions - and yes - before installing some stuff I´ve take a look on mounting points
