[ROM][UNOFFICIAL] LineageOS 16.0 for Nexus 6P (angler) - Nexus 6P Original Android Development

Heya, you may know me as harryyoud from some of the LineageOS blog posts, IRC or Telegram. Although I've been on the LineageOS team from the beginning, I'm quite new to the development game, so go easy on me I've also got a lot going on in my personal life at the moment, so this is going to be going slow for now, but I'll answer as many questions as I can
Some things that are different from 15.1/official LineageOS right now:
- selinux is currently permissive
- no root addon
- you don't need to flash a vendor image, this now comes with the ROM
- Security level is September, but blobs are currently still on August. No particular reason, just haven't had time to re-extract them
- I haven't found any bugs or regressions from 15.1, but if you find any, please let me know here (I will need steps to reproduce the problem)
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS GitHub repo. If you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit our Wiki.
Important Info
To flash this rom you need TWRP 3.2.0-0 or newer. https://twrp.me/huawei/huaweinexus6p.html
Make sure you have the radio, & bootloader img's installed, from the stock oreo 8.1 OPM6.171019.030.K1 Sep 2018 factory image.
They can be extracted from the factory image on Google's site here.

Good job ????? thanks for your hard work and time for this... ????????

have been waiting for this. downloading now

Good to hear, thank you sir

If you downloaded the ROM before the time of this post, you will need to redownload or it will not boot (copy on server was corrupt, and sha1 was of the corrupted file too). Apologies! Not off to a great start
Future updates should be available over OTA

Yes, downloaded, but not booted.
Nope.
Again i will..
Thank you for the information sir

still having trouble, phone is shutting down by itself? also bringing up pattern unlock which i didn't set up before
something similar being discussed in the 15.1 thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77754155&postcount=1251

Oh, boy. Gonna keep my eye on this development. Once it sounds like all the showstopper bugs have been mostly dealt with I'm jumping in for sure.

sweet!, formatting data in twrp seems to have gotten me past that unlock thing

Been looking forward to this day

Got it... just restarted my phone

Does this ROM currently have Adaptive Battery functionality? I've noticed that some Pie ROMs don't, so I figured I'd ask.

Clean installation, smooth ROM, but can not log in to Google account, can not play video.

Hello, welcome to the community.
Take all the time you need, no hurries.

Anyone that has been able to get this to work see any bugs? Im curious to know what's working and what isnt. And also i noticed it has its only su, does magisk not have support yet or do you have to flash los su first before you can use magisk?

1. Cannot sign in to Google/Gapps does not work
2. System UI keeps crashing during first time setup, a reboot fix it. maybe random though.
3. WebView does not work. use firefox or chromium instead.

Okay, I did the see the SystemUI thing once but never get it to do it again, how ever many wipes I did. Like you say, it's probably random
WebView, I can confirm here doesn't work. I'll look into that
Which gapps are you using? I'd personally recommend MindTheGapps 8.1 (those work fine on 9.0), but you'll need to delete the Google SetupWizard after installation (/system/app/SetupWizard), since I have found that to be broken on angler.

Reporting Bugs
DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

Nice!
so are any gapps packages safe to flash
Any secrets or step-by-step on how to flash? The reason I ask this is due to the difference of Pixel 2 XL (partition A/B) in comparision to other devices.

According to the OP: "DO NOT FLASH ANY 3RD PARTY GAPPS PACKAGES"
yeah but i was wondering if lineage has their own form of Gapps

I would surmise from the instructions in the OP, and given the size of the download(573.42mb) that there will only be the minimum required to allow one to have Google play services, and play story. The rest you can download on your own. Again, this is my personal assumption.

Hey RaymanFX. First, thank you for sharing your personal build!! 2nd, I would assume this is NOT substratum compatible, correct?
this is awesome because one of my favorite things with past phones was waking up to a new cyanogen nightly to flash. i installed pure nexus with the 6p before lineage built a 6p rom but now it seems like lineage is first for the pixel 2 xl. yay

Unless he went out of his way to break OMS, yes substratum is supported. Consider LineageOS 15.1 to be the same as your stock ROM with respect to substratum compatibility, atleast for now.
Edit: Obviously don't report force closes from bad overlays as ROM bugs, duh.

Yeah curious on what features are included. Changelog looks like it's stock.
**EDIT**
It's booting after a second flash. Not sure what happened, but after I reinstalled TWRP and installed the zip a second time, the ROM is booting. I'll update this post after I'm done with setup
Ignore this ============================================
Don't flash! Not booting! Wiped my TWRP!
Steps I took:
Boot to twrp
Format system, data and cache
Install zip
Reboot
What happened:
Stuck at google logo
Recovery is now stock
Guess I'm pulling my titanium backup and flashing system images

Awesome to see some good development paving the way; between Xposed and LOS, we're now on the right track! Thanks for sharing!

Having come from the OG PiXL, wiping system was a problem in the beginning and you always flashed TWRP after any zip, especially ROMs.
But good info to know!

I left my phone overnight and the lag seems mostly gone now.
Do note that I left it to charge overnight, and iirc since Oreo, if the device is fully charged, it begins optimizing the dex files to produce oat files which perform better. Now I am a bit rusty regarding Android ART internals so I may be wrong.
Either way, it's a night and day difference and my phone is much smoother now. (PS: I am also using firekernel, but I flashed that yesterday with the ROM)
---------- Post added at 08:10 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:06 AM ----------
Anyone else having issues flashing Magisk? More specifically, does TWRP (3.2.3) crash while flashing Magisk?
Do note that I use firekernel, so this is in no way a bug report or complaint to our awesome dev. I'm just asking if anyone else is having issues.
PS: I don't mind making a bug report on the stock kernel if someone else also has this issue on stock.

Important Info:
To flash this rom you need TWRP 3.3.1.0 or newer.
Make sure you have the vendor, radio, & bootloader img's installed, from the stock oreo 8.1 OPM7.181205.001 Dec 2018 factory image.
They can be extracted from the factory image on google's site here. Or you can use the ones linked below that I already extracted:
vendor, radio, bootloader img's: https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=286833
The vendor img is flashable with twrp or fastboot. For the radio and bootloader img, use fastboot.

If you don't already have them installed, flash the newest vendor, radio, and bootloader img's linked above.
Boot into TWRP.
Flash the ROM zip.
Reboot & enjoy.
NOTE: if you previously flashed gapps and/or the su addon, there's no need to flash them again. They will be automatically re-installed during rom zip installation.
If coming from a different ROM:
If you don't already have them installed, flash the newest vendor, radio, and bootloader img's linked above. also make sure you have the newest twrp, linked above.
Boot into TWRP.
Wipe system & data & cache partitions.
Format data.
Flash rom & GApps & su zips (GApps & su zips are optional).
Reboot & enjoy.

Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

Install Instructions
Grab our recovery from the peripherals section and install it.
Through TWRP Recovery:
Install Zip > Install Image > Choose ‘recovery.img‘ > Select partition ‘Recovery’ > Swipe to confirm flash
Through Fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Install the ROM and then wipe your internal data partition.
Through TWRP Recovery:
Wipe > Format data
Through Fastboot:
Code:
fastboot -w
Reboot into system and wait until the process finishes, it could take a little bit. After the installation is done, I suggest waiting before using the phone because it usually goes into thermal throttling after installing a ROM.

Another android 10 ROM for Angler . And this time it's Lineage 17 which is the best ROM I've used so far . Can't thank you much for your work !
Wow, this is fantastic, thank you @PixelBoot! I'll be upgrading from LOS 15.1 to this, but I'm having trouble locating Gapps for Android 10. Otherwise, I think I'm all set to flash and start testing!
Thank you @PixelBoot for keeping your word. I will flash it soon.

Face unlock has been officially removed in android 10 so that's not a problem . Same with battery percentage not showing . And regarding BLOD , just flash the updated BLOD workaround by osm0sis over the ROM not the 4core boot.img and there will be no lag . And does digital wellbeing and pixel launcher work ?

Google Camera 6.2.030.244457635 is the last version that will work with our device. Unless you use a modded one.
To offer some early feedback after playing with it for only a few hours, this seems to be working remarkably well. I installed with Open GApps 10 beta pico, and Magisk 20.1.
Battery life actually seems better than it was on LOS 15.1 (Android 8.1), though that could be because I dramatically slimmed down the apps I have installed (from ~150 to ~50). Overall, everything seems very smooth, fast, and efficient. It's a very refreshing experience, since this phone had been getting slower and slower.
I've had a couple apps freeze on launch, but closing and reopening always seems to resolve the issue.
I haven't figured out what GCam I'm going to use yet. I'm probably going to run through several of the suggested apks on Celso Azevedo' Google Camera Ports site until I find one that works reliably.
Visual voicemail in the phone app failed to setup, but that could be an issue with my carrier (T-Mobile). I haven't tried to troubleshoot that yet.
Everything else seems to be working great. Calls, GPS navigation, etc. No major issues.
This is amazing work, @PixelBoot. Thank you so much!

[ROM][10] LineageOS + PixelExperience // personal builds

This thread hosts personal builds of LineageOS 17.x and PixelExperience 10 for Mix 2. Full credits to Arian, Wight and others doing the actual bringup, allowing us to build upon the awesome work.
Small changes in my builds:
Default stretch-to-fullscreen (force apps to render in 18:9) - LOS official solution defaults to OFF, which complicates setup
Grey-blue DeskClock color scheme (when possible)
Navbar stays on the right side of the screen under 270° rotation (optional - set the behaviour with "setprop persist.ui.seascape.disable <true|false>" in a rooted shell)
Signature spoofing support from MicroG
Revived navbar layout tuning via sysui_nav_bar tunable
...
What's working:
Everything?
Instructions:
Use firmware Stable V11.0.3.0
Use official TWRP
Download the latest build and optionally GAPPS (PE comes with GAPPS though, don't use any from external sources)
Reboot to TWRP
Flash the latest build, GAPPS and whatever other additions you need
Reboot

I don't know for how much longer I'll be able to keep building these, but even if I do stop, these should still serve as a good basis for installing GSIs, so you can leverage many of them out there, including my own. As far as I've tested the only major bug on that front is the proximity sensor.
Compared to the test builds of last year...
- Now using official LOS device trees - you might have to clean flash even if you come from a previous test build by me
- IMPORTANT regarding PE - if you're clean flashing, flash the package twice so that /system can be populated properly. I have no idea why this is happening...

Have you changed your system font? Seems incompatible.
Have a problem while installing new PE.
Wiped everything (system, vendor, data). Installed zip (twice, as advised), no error messages.
TWRP warns on reboot that no OS is installed. Phone reboots to fastboot.
Tried twice with the same result. Tried re-downloading zip without success.
Ok, managed to solve the problem. As the device tree is from LOS, the solution is in the LOS thread. Need a recovery with support for SAR. Seems like official TWRP does not. So flashed recovery from the first post of LOS thread and the OS have installed just fine.

Thing is, I tried Wight's SAR TWRP and it's the same thing on my side - I really had to flash it twice (but not in the same queue/go).
This shouldn't have happened in the first place either, as LOS flashed just fine without this hassle.
@AndyYan
Nice to see you again being active, and thx (of course to all users who made it possible) providing LOS 17.
I know, this is probadly the wrong thread for this, but openGapps doesn't provide GAPPS for 10. The option is always greyed-out. Where do i get GAPPS then?

You can find them on Sourceforge: https://sourceforge.net/projects/opengapps/files/arm64/beta/
However, not flashable on LOS: Gapps detect SDK 27 (Android 8.1). @AndyYan, can you look into it?
Update: found that PE prop.default file is fine, but for LOS it's old (says SDK=27 and some stuff more). I think you forgot to include proper props to LOS build.

Aw, I don't use GAPPS so I didn't verify that...
Does manually changing prop.default make it pass? Supposedly there's nothing in the device source dictating that.

There are several lines that need to be changed (for instance, arch is set to 'arm' instead of 'arm64'). I decided to go with PE for now and don't want to reconfigure all stuff once more.
What a treat to start 2020 to! Thanks for the new build Andy. I'll be reporting back if I find something buggy or similar =)

Weird, I didn't had this problem yesterday. I used "open_gapps-arm64-10.0-nano-20191209-BETA.zip" on LOS.
@AndyYan Thanks for your build of LOS, it's working like a charm here.
Just gotta need a patch for my provider APN. (I'm on it)
Great news!!! Thank you Andy. Can i dirty flash from LOS16 to LOS17?
The problem is solved,thanks!

Thanks @AndyYan for the build. I have flashed the PixelExperience version and it is working fine. Using Parrot043's GCam version and the photo quality is also fine.
The major issue I have is regarding VoLTE incoming call support on my carrier (Airtel/India). Outgoing calls are fine, but for incoming (VoLTE) calls my phone doesn't ring at all, but on the caller side it looks as if it is ringing and I am not answering calls. For the time being I have switched to WCDMA mode.
Any input to solve the VoLTE issue is highly appreciated. I have tried creating an APN named IMS with type as ims, but that didn't work.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 10 (Q), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
Base source code is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to the project, please visit our Gerrit Code Review.

So thrilled to see this finally coming! Thanks!
My first experiences: among all Samsung devices that I ever owned, this one was by far the most complicated to achieve bootloader unlock and install TWRP - but after 1,5h I finally managed it.
Installing lineage-os via TWRP worked as expected, but ... after 1 min. booting with lineage logo the device stops and reboots into recovery. Anyone got an idea why?

If I read the Los wiki correctly I can flash/sideload without rooting. If that's correct, can I root after setting up the ROM?
Thanks in advance.
