Icons in folders gone after app update - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
I organized most of my apps in folders. But for me it's very annoying that after an app update the app icon disappears in its folder.
I'm not really sure if it just happens with app updates which doesn't come from play store or both.
I'm on the latest official OOS.

Same here. Happens everytime I update via playstore

Google Ears outside the US

Google Ears (like Shazam / Soundhound) is automatically disabled for Canadian (maybe other non-US?) Nexus 7 users, I guess because we can't buy music from the Play Store. It's in system/app, but it's frozen.
Titanium Backup will not allow me to unfreeze. I moved the existing apk and odex with Root Explorer and put this in it's place, set permissions, rebooted and installed. Works fine, but it doesn't stick around after another reboot. I can restore it with Titanium and it'll work again... until the next boot.
It's so quick in identifying a song vs Shazam. Any ideas?
I'm sure there must be an easier way, but it seems that converting it to a user app with Titanium after restoring does the trick.
It's disabled in UK too. I just set permissions using root explorer (rw, r, r), put the widget on my homescreen and it's stayed there through all reboots. Didn't notice any icon appear in the app draw though.

Strangely enough, it isn't disabled on UK Nexus S's (my friend has one, unrooted stock, I saw it there after he got JB update).
All I had to do was defrost with Titanium Backup.
I can't even get it to install .Works fine on my OneX side loaded the apk to the N7 and it just goes through the motions of installing then says failed

It's a widget, shows up as Sound Search. I'm amused at the propensity for Google to always have two possible names for one service... you never know for sure where something is going to show up in the app drawer / app manager.
Anyone having trouble may want to try the version from the Google Ears/Sound Search (From Jelly Bean) thread over in dev / hacking.
For users in Canada, Google has it disabled
use tibu to defrost it,
type this in terminal emaulator:
su
pm enable com.google.android.ears
then use this link to update it:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.ears
don't search, it wont work use the link. This worked for me.

"Ignore" App Update In Market?

Hi all
I was just wondering if it was possible to ignore an app update from the playstore, and not be notified of it or have it in the "update" list? Basically the new youtube app doesn't work properly so I uninstalled it via titanium and installed the previous version. Getting rid of the update request will allow me to batch update other apps without fear of restoring the broken youtube.
I tried the "detach from market" option in titanium pro and then rebooted but it didn't seem to work??
Cheers
I think once you have ignore one time it will not pop up everytime
Personally i do so

[Q] Prevent Play Store from Checking for App Update [NOT auto update] [update]

I want to keep google talk and not update (or as i see it downgrade) to the hangouts app. Does anyone know of a way to prevent it from appearing in the play store "my apps" list? I've tried using titanium backup to detach/remove from market with no success. I know I can just deal with seeing it in that list but figured i'd ask.
edit: using "detach from market" in titanium does work, but only until i reboot the phone. upon reboot it will show up again and i can go and detach again. so getting closer to a perfect solution; i feel like that may be as good as it gets. any other ideas appreciated though!
Uninstall your present GTalk and install GTalk from an external source then make it a system app if you want. This may stop showing you updates as you haven't downloaded GTalk from the Play Store.

U can find a Gtalk on mobilism and then convert it to a system app as Sherlock said above. I've had system apps still connect to play store before also, but that's ur best bet.

Aptoide works

The current version of Aptoide works fine on my 7" and installs apps flawlessly. I'm not so sure that I need the play store now - although there are other Google apps I'd like to get working. (I'm waiting a few weeks to decide if I need to root.)

You need go to Apps menu (Cloud/On Device), tap in "On Device", all the apps are listed there, keep touching an app and select "Add to Home", sorry for my english.

sideloaded apps did not go thorugh the Amazon "carousel" launcher, so you won't see a shortcut there. But if you hit the "app" section on top you should see it in the list.

Dragging apps from search bar broken Android 7?

Hi all,
Since Android 7 OTA, I can no longer drag an app from the home screen search bar, for example, to put it on home screen or get info / uninstall.
Maybe it's user error, but I wondered if anyone else has this problem?
It works fine if I go via main app drawer, but that's a pain.
Thanks.

I think they removed the feature from the Google Now launcher because it's also not working on my Nexus 5 running Android 6.0.1
Thank you! Thought I was going bonkers.
That sucks...it was a good feature.
