Unlocked Bootloader Workaround - Samsung Galaxy Watch

Hi,
Recently I have bought the Samsung Galaxy Watch and the problem is that the Galaxy Wearable app not available in my Play Store. After searching through the net, some advice from Reddit found that the culprit is my unlocked bootloader (probably the cause is the built-in Samsung Pay). With a little help from apkmirror, I have found a workaround for this issue and hope it helps someone have the same situation as me.
Step 1: Download Galaxy Wearable app at https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/samsung-gear/
Step 2 (important): Download Galaxy Watch Plugin https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/galaxy-watch-plugin/
After pairing the Galaxy Watch with the phone, the Galaxy Wearable app will automatically download Samsung Accessory Service app and finish the process. You're now good to go. Cheers
P/S: One down-side of this workaround is that you have to update these apps manually.

As far as I know, most of the Samsung app can be updated if go to Settings->About screen. Wearable app is one of them.

That only opens the Play Store page for the app.

Nope, I have tried it. If you have an unlocked bootloader, only the Samsung Accessory Service can be updated. The other two aren't available on Play Store so it's a no-go

It's available to me, and I have unlocked my bootloader on my Moto G5+. This could be more specifically about passing Safetynet, though this is just a guess.

I've been looking all over for this, big thanks!

Samsung Pay
Any workaround to use Samsung Pay with Galaxy Watch while the bootloader of the phone is unlocked?
PS: Non-Samsung Phone, No root, Galaxy Watch LTE.

Hi,
I have a Mi Max 3 6gb/128gb Chinese phone with an unlocked bootloader and Global Rom.
It is MIUI version 10.3.5.0 and Android 9 PKQ1.181007.001.
I have bought a Galaxy Active Watch 2, and am confused slightly about the correct way to get this working.
Does installing the apps from apkmirror as stated above always work?
Is the problem that the unlocked bootloader stops the app from being downloaded from the play store, and thus if you get the app elsewhere it will work?
Or is the problem that the app itself detects the unlocked bootloader? OR, is it that it all works if you load from another source, but the Samsung Pay part (I don't care much about this) won't work?
I have read that the only way to do this is to relock the bootloader (don't want to do as my phone will apparently brick itself if I do an OTA update) or to root and install Magisk, which I don't really want to do.
Any help/clarifications appreciated,
Thanks so much.

Can I Still Hide Root from Apps?

I just tried out root for my Note 7 using the Sprint ROM method and I noticed I can't use the gear app. I don't currently have my laptop with me so I can't manually push Xposed, so is there any way to hide the app from seeing root from my phone itself?
I haven't used a rooted phone since my S6 and I don't really know about all this new stuff, or why Samsung would block a simple watch app from rooted phones.
Samsung doesn't allow the Gear app to run on rooted devices because it can be used with Samsung Pay.
Chainfire has a new method to hide root from apps without requiring Xposed, but you better know what you're doing.
It has no UI.

Well that's not good news, but is there anyway you could link it so I can take a look?
I might just flash back to stock and wait for the U firmware if it's that much of a hassle.
I'm also curious about this. I would like to be able to use pay, but also have the phone rooted as well.

After fist launch there is NFC icon in IKO app menu but after tapping it, app will crash.
After second try icon just disappears.
Any ideas ? THx

There is a method to make the Gear VR think your N7 is an S7. It requires root of course. There was a thread on this somewhere here a week ago or so.

Problem: S Note

After flashing CM14.1 for my device sm-p605, S Note is no more available and can not be installed from play store. Does anyone know a modded S Note application that is compatible with CM14.1, or any other way to re-install it, please?
With the Galaxy Store app, and probably a Samsung account, maybe. But i want to stay clear from Samsung stuff and their lousy support.
Edit: Nope. S Note IS in Playstore! But I checked this with my S5(6.0.1)

I know it is there, but it still not compatible with the device after the cm14.1 flash. Even when I downloaded it as an apk file then installed it, it didn't start and continued to stop whenever I start it.
Then it's for Touchwiz roms only...

S8+ Update broke phone.

After the update this morning my device is official in settings but in play store it's uncertified and Google play thinks I'm rooted....
Sort of the same issue. I downloaded Safetynet check and it says CTS Profile mismatch. Now I can't use Android Pay to charge my car.

Also showing a mismatch so they screwed something up.
Mismatch here as well, accidentally updated this morning. ?
On another note do you think this could be an exploit used for root ?

I had that problem this morning. Couldn't do anything about it. I had to exchange my phone.
Great. Mine shows mismatch, BUT, just used Samsung Pay about 15 minutes ago
Mine too
Guys before you start to exchange your phones, I have the same problem with my One Plus 3T, my Galaxy S7 edge, and the motorola Z play as well. The only phone that doesn't have that problem is the Motorola X pure edition.

But it's an issue if Android pay does not work. I don't use it as samsung pay works fine. It's just the fact that Google thinks our brand new phones are rooted/modified.
Perhaps some devious plan on Samsung's part to force owners to use Samsung Pay vs Android pay.
I never use Android pay because not enough places have the right terminals installed.

Was just on twitter with T-Mobile help discussing this and they indicate they are aware of the issue and have a team working on it --- we'll see. It must be something that the phone companies are doing wrong with their software updates. Yesterday I could add a card to Android Pay and today after the update I could not.

I just talked to them on Twitter and she said there is no issue and that I must have altered my phone.... like really you guys can see if I rooted my phone on ur end.
Everyone!!!! It's not an issue with the software from samsung... If you download the latest Google play services 11.0.33 the device will pass safetynet check, store will show certified and Android pay will work as expected!!! I did this and it worked for me on my S8+.

How can you update? I currently have version 10.2.98 installed and the play store does not reflect an update.
Well it seems like they are changing their stance on the issue. I reached out to T-Mobile via Twitter Support, last night, and they have informed me that they are aware of the issue and will fix in the next update. (Hoping soon)
Hey there! Thanks so much for reaching out about this and bringing it to our attention. We have noted this issue down and we are making adjustments for when our next update comes out from Samsung! I sincerely appreciate the feedback and it will be sent in the right direction to the right people! Samsung Pay Touch in US? Seeking apk for v3.2.1

I'm in the US looking for a way to use Samsung Pay Touch on a snapdragon S9. I found an apk for 3.1.2 on apkpure but when logging in, prompts me to update the app to its most recent version, 3.2.1, on google play, which I can't use because it's not open to my region yet. Has anyone experimented with this and/or has an apk file for v3.2.1?

Question: Can I update Samsung Apps in the Google Play Store Instead of Galaxy Store?

Hi Everyone,
I've been searching the site and online for an answer, but no luck.
I have the Galaxy S20+, but this is really a question that pertains to all Galaxy phones. A lot of the Samsung phone's native apps (Camera, Gallery, etc.) will have a "N" icon in Settings, telling you there is a new update for the app that you can install. For this, you have to go through the Galaxy Store. I have disabled access to the store and most other Samsung apps I don't use (Bixby, etc.) because I don't want to sign up for anything Samsung and don't want to create an account with them since I already have my Google account attached to the phone.
Now, going to the Google Play store from the the Camera or Gallery apps, it shows that I have them installed and even allows me to open the app from their store. But unlike other apps that I actually downloaded from Google Play, it won't give me the option to update from Google. It just lets me open the app.
So my question in short is can I, or how can I, update these Samsung apps through the Google Play Store instead of the Galaxy Store? If they show up in the Google Play Store, there must be a way since they are linked.
Side note, I can't uninstall most apps (especially the Camera and Gallery apps) and them re-download them from Google Play, in case anyone was curious.
Any direction or help will be much appreciated. Thanks!
I did an update to the Samsung Members app in the Play Store just the other day after originally installing it via the Galaxy Store (S20U).
I know some of the Samsung apps appear on the Galaxy Store before they reach the Play Store and for apps I've checked I have both Uninstall and Open buttons in both stores. Don't see why it wouldn't be possible for certain apps.

Interesting. I just checked and I don't have the Samsung Members app installed to compare. But like you said as well, it should be possible.
Hopefully someone here knows how?
Just use samsung app store..

Short answer: Yes and no.
As you discovered, some Samsung apps are available in the Google Play Store. Those can be updated via the Play Store. The other Samsung apps must be updated via Samsung Galaxy Store or sideloaded (the best source is Samsung apk mirror).
Having a Samsung account doesn't force you to use their apps. I have a Samsung account, but I disabled all of their apps except for Calculator, Galaxy Wearable, Good Lock, My Files, and One Hand Operation+, and having a Samsung account doesn't affect my battery or usage habits whatsoever.

Thanks everyone.
Sublimaze, I think this is the most helpful answer. Thanks. I have a couple of follow-up questions from your response:
- I know a little about sideloading, but I'm not fully versed. But say I download the Samsung Camera and Gallery apps from Apkmirror, how do I install them if my Galaxy S20+ device doesn't let me uninstall Camera and Gallery? In the settings, I can't even disable them (it's greyed out). Maybe these two app examples are exceptions and I can't do anything about it? I will say many (if not all) of the Samsung apps I see on my device do not give me the option to disable or uninstall
- When you sideload an app, how do you receive updates or update the app in the future? Is it a one-and-done situation, or will I be able to do updates on Google Play moving forward? Or, will I be stuck and never be able to do updates, with the only way being is to just keep installing newer versions when they come out on Apkmirror?
- And finally, is Apkmirror reliable?
And thanks for clarifying the bit on the Samsung accounts.

That makes sense. I think what I'm just going to have to do is just tough it out and use the Samsung Store to updates the ones I can only do through there, then revoke permissions to the Samsung Store app after I'm done. Seems like the safest way to go.
Thanks.
