Make google pay work using Titanium Backup - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 / 5 Plus Guides, News, & Discu

I was just messing around with my vince when I got to know this.
Firstly, just try once to make google pay work in any rooted android device somehow.....using diff. versions of magisk using MagiskHideProps config method. And if it doesn't, then you're out of luck.
Once you have registered your account on google pay on a rooted phone, just backup the google pay app with its data from titanium backup.
Now install Titanium Backup on vince and now you can restore the app into vince even if magiskhide is not working....
And trust me......this method works.

Any way to back up all of my apps before rooting for the first time??

Hey guys,
I have already rooted my friends phone with the 1.47.651.1 ota update and everything went fine.
My only problem is I have a lot of apps I don't want to loose, paid ones as well. Is there anyway to back these all up?
Obviously I have no problem getting the free ones back but if I had to delete the paid one is it possible to get it back without paying again?
Don't quote me on this, but i believe i have read in a few places around the forums that say you can redownload paid apps without paying again.
Did you just get the phone / have to run any of the OTA updates? It might be possible that the original unrevoked method can let you use Titanium Backup to backup all your apps, then you can run a root + nand unlocker & just restore your apps.
correct, paid apps are tied to your gmail account, so as long as you use that gmail account then you can re download any app you paid for.
I agree with Veritas - Titanium Backup will be your best friend if you plan to root, flash ROMs and so forth.
I've been using Titanium Backup since I got my EVO and I love it. Very easy to backup all user apps/data to the SD card. Once a new ROM is flashed, install Titanium Backup (your license key is located on your SD card, so as long as you dont format that, you should be fine. You can copy that file to your PC as well for a backup). Once the new ROM is up and running, simply do a Titanium restore of all user apps/data. If it werent for Titanium Backup, I would not be flashing custom ROMs as often as I do.
This takes a while but you can backup apps with most of the file managers on the market without root access. All it backs up is the apk though. Just use it for the free ones. After you root then titanium backup is your best friend

[Discussion] Best way to backup and install aps.

Since at first we will not have access to the Market directly I was thinking that the best way to load aps would be with Titanium Backup. I have an Android phone now (HD2) that keeps the aps I use updated. By using z4root v1.3 or something like it to "root" I could just use my backup from the phone to keep my Adam aps up to date as well as to load them in the first place.
Any thoughts/discussion on this method or other ideas on how best/easiest to do it?
I plan on using dropbox and save all my apks there so I can access them from my Adam and install on the fly

Dropbox is an excellant way of handling it.
I plan to use dropbox to get my Titanium Pro and then use the Titanium batch mode to load the aps so I don't have to do them one at a time. I will have to see if I run into over write problems. Want to start with an initial Titanium full BU anyway on the Adam.
I will probably use mostly the same aps on my phone and Adam. The phone stays updated automatically from the market and I do frequent back-ups using the Titanium batch mode for new and updated aps. If I then did an ap restore on Adam they would all be current and updated as well. This method should keep me current until the Honeycomb market opens.
AppBrain Market Sync
AppBrain Market Sync will not work in this case because the device needs access to the Market for AppBrain to work. Just FYI. AppBrain is really a Market filter and search engine not an app storage depot.
Update: Other tabs have AppBrain working fine so I am sure the Adam will have it working as well.

I'm sure someone will get the stock Google Apps and Google Market running on the Adam in no time...
--edit--
Check out rothnic's thread called Eden Plus for an update.zip package for rooted access and stock Google Apps added.
First and foremost before we do any playing around, even after root, we should make sure full NAND is working. Having a NAND backup that is fully functional is very important. On camera Rohan seems fine with us tinkering around, but when it comes time for his company to pay out warranty costs they will no doubt speak out against rooting.

when i had my g-tablet i was able to do that with titanium. as long as titanium is granted super user permissions it should restore all our apps fine. ideally this is what i'd like to do.
Isn't it possible to just pull the apps from your phone by using ADB?
I know I where able to do this a long time ago, but I forgot how to do it, and I can't seem to find any info on it anymore.
As that would be easier than trying to get titanium backup working.
Yes it is
but Titanium Backup and Drop box are both free so why not use them? Then you can continue to use them to make BUps on your Adam.
Yea, i know there both free, but to use dropbox whit Titaniumbackup, you need the paid version, so it's not completely free
Correct
I don't use dropbox through Titanium. I use both for different purposes. It would be to slow to use dropbox to transfere all of those files.
I use dropbox to transfer the occasional single file and do any printing chores.
I use Titanium to backup my programs. Then I use the Nike network* to move the mass files between devices.
* The Nike network or tennis shoe network is an old computer term for using physical media to transfer files between computers. You use your feet to move from one to the other. I first did this on my IBM 5110 in 1979. The 5110 was an early IBM portable computer that had 8" floppy drives and a whopping 64k of memory. Portable in those days meant any computer smaller than a room.
You have to have root privileges to use titanium backup

Ah, thats the rub! I was going to use this method too until someone reminded me of this.
Awaiting my Adam. I'm hoping My backupPro does the trick for me.
It won't get flash or other pre-installed programs (HTC Incredible) so I'm sure hoping someone is going to put up a thread for "must have" apk's like Flash so we can get to them easily.

Looks like Rothnic has an update.zip package with root access and Google Apps added.
All Adams are shipped with root privilege access. Just need market and SuperUser app installed, access given to TB, install Busybox from TB, and then it should be good to go.
If someone wants to help speed up this process join ##adamroot on freenode.net and help the devs. They are waiting for someone with an Adam to spend about an hour or less working through the kinks.
Or you can send me ur Adam and I'll help get things working
If you have not rooted your adam you can extract and install your titanium backup files with astro. Fyi

A complete newbie question as the Adam will be the first android device I'll own -
Can you back up your paid apps with dropbox / titanium or are they activated by username online?
Yes you can back them up, but you have to be rooted first.

Once you've paid for and app you can always download it again for free from the market (as long as you use the same google account).
If you definitely want to back up the apk, than you use titanium backup or also ES File. Not sure whether you actually need root to do that though.

Android ID Backup / Restore Pixel XL Oreo

Ok folks, I've been googling for a while now and can't get a straight simple answer. I have an app, MoviePass, that once installed links to your Android ID and won't allow you to change but once per month. I didn't know this until already changing it once, so now I can't flash anything for another 30 damn days or the app won't work. Here's my question: How do I backup and then restore my Android ID? And before you answer , it has apparently changed in Oreo. I found a ton of posts showing how to do it with titanium Backup, but that method apparently no longer works in Oreo because of the changes made in how the Android ID is stored per app now or something. So please does anyone have a PROVEN method that you know 100% works that I can try ? I don't wanna downgrade to Nougat just to be able to do this lol. This app is holding me up from flashing awesomeness!
Stuck in the same boat.. I have to do a backup, then restore my old rom to use movie pass and then restore my backup. It's super annoying but at least it works. Hope there is a way to fix this for us who flash often

I actually managed to get it working. I have Titanium Backup Pro, not sure if you need that version or the free one, but I did a full backup of the app and then restored the app after flashing a new ROM and downloading Titanium Backup. The app restored, and MoviePass didn't give me any problems.

I've tried with titanium backup but it didn't work. I went from andoid N to O and my phone says it's a pixel XL (I have axon 7) so that may have something to do with it..?
Edit: So I just tried again and it worked! Thanks

No problem! Yeah they changed the way Android ID worked and how it is associated with applications in O versus previous versions of Android. Glad it worked !
If you want to restore the Android id of a previous version on the same phone then you have to just Backup "Settings storage" and then restore it.

Question Looking for an alternative full backup solution to Titanium.

As the title says, I've been using Titanium for quite some time now and it works very well for the task.
However, I'm looking for an alternative full backup solution to Titanium since it tends to freeze (even though it gets the job done) and the interface is really outdated (sometimes confusing).
Open source and free would be nice, but I'll take a paid app if the asking price is reasonable and app really gets the job done.
What about oandbackup? I used it only once but it did the job.
I use swift backup, it can backup directly to gdrive
I bought it many years ago, but it was fairly inexpensive at the time, it's an IAP so you can check whatever it supports now and see if it works out for you
I have just switched to swift backup from titanium backup because of split apks. Its pretty good and I use migrate for backing up and switching roms.
I'll look into these backup alternatives, I've tried Migrate and I really like it.
I'd like to only one all-in-on backup solution, but I don't mind having two really good apps compromising each other in features.
Can't go wrong with SwiftBackup. Works very well and has a lot of settings and customisations which you can use to adopt it to your usecase
I use Migrate now... I think so far it's the best... also I've Titanium Backup, MyBackup Pro (before)... In the midst of switching to other ones... then I tried Swift Backup... but if you want privacy... and avoiding using Google Backups... This is not an option... it is very annoying that every time installing this app, you have to make the app go online to phone home and tie to your Google Account first... even I just want to do offline local backup... I've decided not to pay for it, was intended to pay, after hearing all the praises about Split APKs. Also recently I used it (Swift Backup) to backup... I have problem restoring an app... with some error of an app. I won't count on this one too much.
Swiftbackup
Stupidly painless
No Google or Miui Cloud backups here...
Does TWRP backup work for the Poco F3 yet and how does it work exactly (never actually backup up with TWRP)?

The previous TWRP didn't restore my backup. I haven't tested the latest release however seeing the development discussions they've been focusing on ROM flashing and zip flashing so backup restore has not been prioritized so I assume it still doesn't work yet
Swift Backup + Migrate looks likes a good alternative full backup solution to Titanium Backup.
I'm still testing it out, but so far so good...thanks again guys.
Neo Backup (formerly OAndBackupX) can be a really good option if someone is still looking for backup tool. And Migrate-GPE for changing ROM and stuff.

Question Titanium Backup Android 13 issue

Hi all,
Has anyone else tried to use titanium backup to restore some app data with Android 13, the moment I restore the app data only the app then instant crashes when trying to open the app?
I have titanium but haven't used it in years. I backup with syncthing and multiple cloud solutions and let google one take care of the apps
Swift backup will work as it should. Tb was last updated in 2019. Maybe titanium isn't updated for a13
I have switched from TiBu to Swiftbackup. I suggest that you do the same.
titanium backup hasn't been updated since Nov 24, 2019, as previous comments suggest swift backup works well!
swiftbackup or alpha backup pro.
Swift back up for the win
swift for sure. I still use titanium for freezing apps tho.
Titanium started having issues on Android 10 and that's when I moved to Swift. Be careful of this recent change, if you use Google Authenticator then you need to manually Export the codes to another device, then Import them back in later or move to another Authenticator like Aegis, this is per the Swift Telegram Chan.
Yeah, thanks guys for your feedback, I had no issues with Titanium even in android 12, I will restore what I want onto an older Pixel 4XL running anroid 12 then try switft backup.
Thanks again everyone.

Yes I did notice this new change with google auth just yesterday when I was looking at it.
Microsoft Authenticator worked fine, and as you suggest google have screwed me over, will not longer use their authentication unless I have no other choice now, was previously the other way around
@danw_oz The change that screwed us over was made on Google's side. Google forced the app to encrypt the codes in a special way that Swift can't read it. Aegis was suggested by the Swift dev because it is directly compatible with Google Auth API and is able to do Exports and backups.
I have been able to restore a previous google auth app, which is why I didn't even think of looking into this, so really p!ssed about it, I think I have another backup, not the fresh one I took prior to factory reset with this new stupid google auth app, why we can't just auto back these up to google account encypted is beyond me.
LOL, have to laugh or I will cry. In big red writing at the top of swift backup, google authenticator. I wish titanium backup had stopped working for me years ago, and I wouldn't be in this mess with google authenticator

You people are all nuts for using closed source software (titanium, swift, etc.) for backing up your data.
This is what you SHOULD be using;
Neo Backup | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository
The open-source tool to backup your apps and data
f-droid.org
GitHub - NeoApplications/Neo-Backup: backup manager for android
backup manager for android. Contribute to NeoApplications/Neo-Backup development by creating an account on GitHub.
github.com
why care whether or not an app is closed source?? almost EVERY app a user will install is closed source software!
Swift works really good.
