Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe doesn't use the microphone jack from the Y cable - Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe Questions & Answers

I bought a Y cable that split the connector into two connectors one for Microphone

I notice it's not using that when I tested it out with a recorder that suppose to use microphone jack to record audio. All it does is use the built-in microphone. The phone is not doing this automatically.

I have the Huawei Mate 10 Pro with external DAC and it can do this without any issue. So I decided to test the and found out audio work but again external microphone is not being use. It continues to use the built-in Microphone. I'm guess its there but not set.

[Q] 2.5 mm headphones

2.5 headset
I have an o2 XDA Atom Exec and got an o2 in-ear stereo headset with it.
That headset is now faulty, one side no longer works and i cant determine where the problem is.
Anyways, i want an in-ear headphones to use with the pda mainly to listen to audio rather than to make calls.
I tried connecting it with 3.5mm headphones with an adapter but with any movement of the adapter, the pda would automatically stop the audio and load dial the first number on the dialed list. Its very annoying.
I tried both the small stick type adapter and the wire adapter with the same result.
So now i'm after an in-ear stereo 2.5mm headset or a solution to stop it from going to the phone mode.
Any help ?
Thanks
is it work fine be4?
perhaps There is some short circuit in your headphone itself or maybe in jack port. trying use another headphone to identify the problem
oftenly headphone for mobile has 4 intersection in its jack. and common music headphone only have 3 intersection, I think use the 3 intersection jack should be fine
you can use the nokia 2.5mm headsets. they are like the OEM ones but they sound better. they both use the 3 ring jack, instead of the more standard 2 ring jack.

HTCext to 3.5mm audio adapter mic problem

Hi!
I have this for some time: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938811&pf_rd_i=507846
(Actually, I baught it in a store so I'm not sure it's excatly the same but it looks the same)
Recently, I baught this one:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Headphone-HTC-VIVA-exclusive-Duragadget/dp/B001LIM8F0/ref=pd_rhf_p_t_2
When I plug the old one in my HTC Touch Cruise and then stereo headphones, to it's 3.5mm jack (without microphone), I can use phone's mic and plugged headphones to talk.
When I do the same with new one I can't use phone's mic. I can hear the other side through headphones but I can't be heard.
What might be a reason for this?
And can I fix this problem somehow so I don't have to unplug headphones each time I want to talk if I'm listening to the music?
Thank you very much in advance!
P.S. FM Radio works with both adapters.
there is no std for 3.5mm mini-jack with mic included
the org spc is only audio out
some headset makers add another ring which don't interfere with the
left, right and ground connectors
but there is no std they can follow
thumb rule is if mic is not mentioned in relation with the 3.5mm adaptor
mic is not supported as they use the pure audio out mini-jack std
thumb rule 2 is if mic is mentioned but it's not the same manufactures
in both end they may not implement mic in 3.5mm the same way and it will
only work with audio out
Thank you for your quick answer but I'm not sure you understood me.
I do not use external mic.
In first case I use 3in1 adapter and my stereo headphone with 3.5mm connector without microphone.
In second case I use this simple in-line adapter and same headphones.
In first case, during call, I can hear the other side through headphones, and the other side hears me through built-in-phone microphone.
In second case, during call, I can hear the other side through headphones, but other side can't hear me.
In both cases FM radio works well. I mention this because I saw that mic and FM antenna are on the same pin in USBext (if that's important since I don't use external mic)
about fm then all it needs is an antenna connected to to it
any stereo maybe even mono connected with a wire will do
heck you can cut off the airplugs from a cable and use it for fm
normaly when one connects a headset speaker and mic on the device itself
are muted
even if it's a headset without mic so cool that your fist case works at all
This first one adapter is original HTC. It has 2.5mm, 3.5mm, USBext for data and charging and USBext for headset connectors. And unfortunately it is too big for any other use except in car (to connect to car's audio aux input) or at home (to connect to home AV reciever).
So I baught this cheap simple in-line adapter. And it is suprisingly well built. And it works great as stereo adapter. Only problem is that it turns of microphone.
Anyhow I did some additional testing.
I tried SE Xperia X1 since it has built in 3.5mm connector. and it works like this first one. That means microphone works.
I also tried plugging this first adapter into my touch cruise and then plugging this second adapter into it's USBext for headset. The result is the same as if I plug second adapter directly into touch cruise. Microphone doesn't work.
Interesting thing is that in all cases (including Xperia) when I listen to the music with external headphones soudn comes only out of them. But when phone starts ringing sound comes from both headphones and from built-in-phone external speaker.
!!! Maybe the most important thing is that microphone doesn't work even if only second adapter is plugged into the phone, without headphones plugged in it.
Obviously this second non-HTC adapter doesn't work as HTC originally planned that kind of adapter to work and now I need a way to fix this.
It seems to me that this adapter is maybe stereo adapter with mic, but I don't have that kind of headset to try it. And if I had it I'm not sure it would be the right one since there's no standard for them.
As I see it when I plug in adapter phone somehow detects it and changes some registry key which mutes microphone.
Does anybody know what to change in registry so that phone doesn't mute microphone?
Or how can I see what changes in registry when I plug in the adapter?
Do you think if I manage to fix this, will that affect bluetooth headset also?
Thank you very much for any help!

What type of Headset jack does the Asus Zenfone 2 support?

I am currently using the Zenfone 2 ZE551ML WW model. I've phoned Asus support and they told me that the phone only supports headphone jacks and not headsets with controls and and in-line mic.
Is this accurate? Does the Asus Zenfone 2 not support 4-pin headset jacks?
If it does support 4-pin headset jacks which type does it support?
Thanks for reading.
It works fine with my apple headphones for mic, but controls do nothing.
Yeah. I mean the audio to the headphones works fine, but I notice the controls and mic do not work, with the exception of the middle button which seems to bring up Google now if long pressed, which is weird if it is a normal 3.5mm port.
I'm trying to figure out if the Zenfone 2 has just a normal 3.5mm audio port, or a 4-pin audio port that supports an in-line mic and controls.

External microphone

Has anyone tried connecting an external mic for recording? I'm going to buy one with a 3.5mm plug and I'm wondering what sort of adapter I will also need.
I use this and it works well. It comes with an adapter and I tried with and without it. The Axon does require the adapter to use this Mic.

Redmi Note 8 Microphone Problem

Anyone face the same problem?
I have a Boya BY-A100 External omni condenser microphone. I want to create an amateur home recording. for my bass trombone. The built-in microphone is too noisy and sensitive for me since I can hear "windy" sound when recording in my room, since there is no fan and silent enough. And there is vehicle sound which just passed in front of my house that can be heard clearly in my recording (rather than my trombone).
When I plug the external microphone, It's blinking in notification. And my recording has no sound at all. When I use the recorder app, my sound is just "skipping". It's annoying. I have another lavalier external microphone, but it has the same problem.. But the weird is when I plug my earphone (XIaomi in-ear HD) everything is working fine.
I have found the same problem in YouTube that the use of splitter may work. Then I bought a cheap U-shape splitter with the earphone and the external microphone plugged, then i plug it to my phone. But still, THERE IS NO SOUND AT ALL. It's annoying so much.
My Begonia (Indonesia) is Global MIUI 11 with Android 10 QGGMIXM.
having same problem mate
the same problem with the Boya By - MM1 external microphone
I have the same problem with the Boya By - MM1 external microphone. I read that the problem concerns all external microphones connected to the minijack socket on the Redmi Note 8 Pro phone. When a microphone is connected, the headphone diode flashes and the recorded sound is interrupted at the same frequency. I have reported a problem to Xiaomi technical support many times. I have been ignored. People around the world report a problem with microphone malfunction. This is a common problem. If anyone wants to use an external microphone, the Redmi Note 8 Pro is useless.
Is the problem due to a bug in the android system software or is it a technical defect?
Fix Found!!!!!
The trick is fairly simple.
I have a Boya MM1 mic and it was very very annoying that the mic icon kept blinking in note 8 pro.
Fix is simple.
1. Get a y split cable ... 3.5 mm male to two 3.5 mm female converter.
2. Connection 1 - input The cable with spirals (for DSLRs) to the smartphone to the mic end of the splitter.
3. Dummy connection- Input the smartphone end of the other cord into the other split cable end.
This fix works like magic, for more info
Type external mic not working in XIAOME now 8 pro in YouTube edwin bonus guy.
The video is Japanese but you'll get the gist.
Thank you
Man that was a pain but i luckily found a solution with some cables and adaptors i had at home:
I previously used IRIG pre to connect my condenser mic to my phone via 3.5 mm jack, so what i did from there is connect it to a cheap "ugreen" chinese mini soundcard/splitter (to the headphone/mic combo jack), i connected this to a USB to USB-C adaptor which i then connected to this stupid phone and TA DAM! it worked!
