So I chose the pixel xl as my Note 7 replacement and although it's not a bad phone, honestly it's not nearly as good as the s7 edge or even the note 5 ( I haven't owned only Samsung phones those are just my last two).
I thought Google assistant (the main reason I chose this phone) was supposed to be a big deal but is there really any major difference than using "OK Google" on any other android phone? Also, no wireless charging or microsd slot? Seriously, what makes this phone worth the sticker price?
I know this sounds like just a rant but after reading all of the positive reviews about this phone, I feel really let down after actually using it and I honestly feel like I'm missing something major here. Anyone else?

I think your perspective is right on. If your coming from a 3 year old phone, this phone is mind blowing. If your coming from a premium Samsung or iPhone, its meh at best. I upgrade every year and to me its just a small iteration. My Nexus 6 is still my favorite phone. The Pixel is a $500 phone.
My thoughts exactly. No micro SD slot (just to get user to store everything on googles cloud) no wireless chrging(though I give them credit for the 15 minute plug in giving 7 hours of use. The phone is efficient. I've gotten almost 5 hours of screen time with heavy use. The call quality seems to be better than Samsung. HD calls on verizon sound really good on my end and others have stated this is the clearest I've sounded to them in a while(maybe the design using glass at the top of the back for better antenna reception really does matter). I like googles launcher. But this phone starves for faetures like "Hidden folder" on the note 7, good lock thru galaxy apps, notification light blinks so slow i can unlock the phone before the light flashes. No always on screen. From the front the phone feels like i'm holding a galaxy S4. The chin is huge for no reason. 5.5 in screen is no longer "XL". Should make a 6 inch screen for the XL. CAmera is great. No numbered notifications(a little number in a bubble showing how many new texts or calls) no batter percentage option. Finger print sensor on the back is easier to use and it's fast. I guess all the fuss is about google assistant. To me it's not qite a flagship but lets remember. Google(like all other phone companies) need to you to give this 1 up when the next one drops. So guarantee the next one has wireless charging and or a SD slot. Just my opinion.

Thank you! I really don't think it's a bad phone but the price and the hype is just crazy! It seriously feels cheap to me. I know it's all metal but because of the different textures on the back it feels like plastic unless it's cold. It's not even water resistant and the top and bottom bezels are way too big to look like a phone that costs this much.
If Samsung or apple came out with this phone they'd be in serious trouble but Google does it and it's some kind of revolution? The assistant isn't going to be even close to useful until it's available in the Play store for everyone. It's just missing so much that phones released 6 months ago costing $100-$200 less already have.
I was really excited for this phone after the note 7 thing and I'm just really disappointed. I'm keeping my note 7, fire hazard or not.
Google's phones will never, ever, ever include an SD card slot, ever again. This will always be a choice you have to make with Google, because they religiously believe in the cloud. I just tell people to get a Moto if they want a Nexus-like with SD card support. However, the unlimited photos and videos at full quality for free offered with the Pixel is amazing.
As for wireless charging, now that I have quick chargers everywhere I stopped using wireless charging with my Nexus 6 months ago. It's just sooooo sssllllooowwwwww. And the Pixel charges quite quickly, even on non-QC chargers. For instance, it seems to be sinking quite a bit of current from my powered hub, which just supplies 5V but can source about 3A per port. It can basically max out any charger that's not that stupid OnePlus proprietary one. Not a big deal.
I even like the bezels, because they give you a place to put your hands when holding it in landscape.
I find the suggestion that they should have released another 6" behemoth interesting, because I remember when the N6 was launched there was a lot of grousing that there were no small flagships left. The common refrain was 2 models, one 5.5" and one 5". As someone who loved the Nexus 6 in basically every respect, it's just a tiny bit too big. I am a 6' tall person with normal hands for that height, and I can't reach nearly the whole screen with one hand. It's not a one handed device, at all. The Pixel, on the other hand, seems to be a perfect size, in addition to being better in every respect compared to the at-the-time brilliant Nexus 6.
Also, you can totally get battery percentage with System UI Tuner. Just hold down the settings icon in the notification shade.

I've held down settings in the notification shade but nothing happens. I'm trying to get battery percentage but it does nothing.

Do you mind if I ask what you like so much about assistant? I really feel like I'm missing something but I can't find anything that makes it better than Google now.

Does your settings gear now have a dim wrench next to it? If so open settings and scroll down to the bottom. You should see "System UI Tuner". Or, you know, you can google it yourself since I gave you all of the relevant information.

Now see here. This is a perfect example. It's all a matter of taste and perspective. The previous google phone users seem to love the Pixel/XL . I come from a long line of Sammy Note phones. Honestly I thought the Note edge was a great phone but with a case on it ..it was a bit to wide for me. actually to me the S6 edge plus was the perfect phone size wise and aesthetically. the 5.7 inch screen and the glass back were perfect. I also have the moto Z force just for the mods. When I think about it, with no bezels and a shortened chin the 5.7 inch screen of the S6 edge+ was basically perfect for me. As far as "wireless" charging I did have to have "fast wireless charging". It's not as fast as a cord with rapid charge but sometimes you just want to sit the phone down and get a quick boost. Not that I'm back to plugging in I do miss fast wireless. Again the assistant is cool, the camera is really decent. anyway.. to each his own. On edit.. thanks for the SUI heads up.. I like it. However,, that mini number in the battery is virtually unreadable.

The one thing I noticed straigh away was the crazy fast response everything on the pixel has compared to the note 7, there would be so many times that the Note 7 would visibly stutter even just a second here and there. Things like opening up and typing on the keybaord instantly would create this minute lag in the interface. I am very picky when it comes to that so I noticed straight away the Pixel is just fast, it doesn't stutter or lag like the note 7 did. Also small things like the speaker is FAR better than the Note 7, it's louder and fully than the 6p even. I hate edge screens too, I couldn't stand the note 7 in that regard, felt uncomfortable to hold compared to the pixel. I'm just so happy that I got a phone that just works ALL THE TIME. That's why I paid the extra $100 over the note 7 for the pixel. And I'm also betting on Google assistant (AI) becoming FAR more integrated and more powerful. All other phones will be missing out I think. Hardware can only go so far, software on the other hand....
Man who needs an SD card now?? I can finally video tape everything in 4k and not worry about memory or ever loosing the footage because it'll always be on the cloud! I legit video tape everything I can now!

I agree on the speed, the note did stutter on me from time to time any this phone doesn't at all really (although I have had a few force closes, possibly the apps fault). The assistant has promise but let's be honest, it's no better than Google now at the moment and by the time it is better, it'll be available on every android phone.
The phone itself to me is just last year's Cadillac with this year's Mercedes price tag.

A lot of people do. Really why drain your battery to access files on line rather than an sd card using less battery power and files on your sd card are a lot safer than the hackable cloud. And there is the extra data you use to access files on line. Sd cards use absolutely no data to access your files and do not eat up battery power so.
1. Sd card files safer than cloud.
2. Sd card uses no data to access your files, so does not eat up your data plan = saves you $$$$
3. Sd card files use less battery power than accessing files on the cloud.
I get that, I'm blessed with unlimited with Verizon but I always only upload to cloud while charging. If anyone is interested in true unlimited data with Verizon, I have an extra line available. I'll only charge 80 a month

Well hard to say, as it has cpu that is newer than last years phone, also has better cameras than phones from last year, and software you can't compare to those phones either. And when compares to phones this year, it's kinda the same. I agree it is overpriced, but they are doing it because they can. If you want the best android experience available, there is only one phone. If you don't want to pay that much then there are great alternatives.
Waterproof - Owned S7 and Note, never seemed to EVER need it unless I was showing someone
Wireless charging - have a stand and still use the cable 90% of the time since it's faster
SD Card - I could see this one as a big point, but most people I know never fill up their phones and the ones who do could easily clear up half of it and improve performance by deleting unused apps and cleaning up the gallery, plus with 120 gigs + unlimited cloud I'm goooood
Gimmicks have made people wanting stuff they use maybe once every 4 months. "I can't have it therefore I need it"
IMO Software performance / day to day use > everything else .
Note 7 is a beast phone but I could honestly say at least once a day I get caught in huge lag spikes when trying open snapchat for a quick photo or even the camera app.
Sacrificing gimmicks for day to day use is worth it 100%

I gave you what you want, sorry. Make the whole display bigger, maybe that will work. Or just open the shade if you need a specific percentage.
I own a note 9 and think it’s a great phone, great features but the camera lets it down.
I don’t use the spen much at all so that’s wasted.
I have a itch to get a 3XL but not sure if if should due to the issues with speakers, screen burn and video recording (mic). For the price you pay there should not be any of these issues out of the box.
Just wanted to hear your thoughts and if you have moved from a note 9 to the 3XL, was it a good move?

I actually had the Note 9 and just switched to the 3 XL. I must say I do not regret it. As much as I love Samsung, I did miss my pixel. The software is just so smooth, plus the camera and crazy call screen feature (which was my main reason) make this thing a beast. I must say the 4GB of RAM is my only downside so far. The battery life is nothing like with the Note9 but I really don't miss it too much. The ability to have working root and magisk is so nice. In the end you gotta see what features you're looking for mostly. I don't have any issues with my speakers or with the video recording but we'll see, I only had this baby for a week or so.
I came from the Note 9 about a month ago and have no regrets. As great as the Note 9 is I am enjoying the 3 XL much more. I had the Pixel 1 for over a year and bounced back and forth from the 2 and Note 8 for a while. The thing that really drove me back to the 3 XL was the camera, it's just so much better than the Note 9 in nearly every way. The zoom on the Note is a bit better but not by much. The only things I do miss is pro mode on the camera and headphone jack. But after using this phone I quickly remembered how great pure Android is with the stock phone and messaging apps along with the unlocked bootloader. The other things that were annoying to me with the Note are the curved screen and the taller aspect ratio it has. It's a beautiful phone but far too fragile for the money.
As for your concerns with the speakers Google has fixed them with the December update. Mine were a bit muffled sounding but sound great now. As for burn in I have none. The screen is made by Samsung so that should speak for itself. I do hide the nav bar though. I haven't recorded much video but what I have sounds and looks fine to me, nothing like the YouTube reviews I saw.
I say give the XL 3 a try. I don't think you will be disappointed.
These are the two phones I was trying to decide between coming from my S7 Edge. Being with Samsung for about 2 years, I did enjoy the experience, but I hated the duplicated apps and the software updates. The straight Android experience, same day updates and a great camera, even with this notch the Pixel 3 XL won out over the Note 9 when I put my money down. I do wish however that Google would get their crap together and release features in "North" America when they do and not just America. There is no reason why in Canada we don't have Call Screen yet. My phone is set to US English. Ridiculous. Great phone though so far.
I have both if that counts. They both do things differently and I like both in their own certain ways.
Note 9 does everything decent with exception to the exceptional screen (If you don't get bad uniformity/glue issues like I have). Note 9 screen brightness is crazy good, can see everything even in direct sunlight and colors and viewing angles are the best out there. Note also gives you sdcard, headphone jack, s-pen and a big long lasting battery. Note 9 aspect ratio is a little odd but that is something very minor to me.
Then there is the pixel 3 xl. I bought the 3 xl to use while Samsung is fixing my note 9 and did not expect to love it like i do now! While on paper it looks weak it is not! Cannot hold a candle to my note 9 specs with 512 gb of storage and 8 gb of ram. Pixel screen is decent, not quite note 9 great but clearly acceptable and a lot has to do with brightness just not being the same as the note. Colors are represented well though. Then comes everything else, you don't get sdcard, headphone jack, a fancy pen or quite of big of battery as the note but the camera. The camera with google's software is unreal. I was like it will be a little better then note and I will miss all the note features, NOPE. The camera is out of bounds! The sharpness, the colors, actual representation of your subject is spot on. Then comes night sight, wow it continues to impress. While it may not keep 20 apps all loaded in background with the lack of ram or last quite the time frame that the note does it is a treat to use. There is just something about pure stock android and a camera that is to die for. Also worth mentioning is you can easily root it. Running a kernel, setting up custom color profiles to make the screen look like note, squeeze function for highly used apps and shortcuts is extremely nice. Needless to say I am going to end up keeping both of them for quite sometime! Note for content watching and some daily use and pixel 3 xl for when I need to take photos and some everyday use as well. Hope this helps you
Switched from note 8. No regrets. The only thing I miss is headphone jack.

From my experience with the pixel 3 xl, is you're going to love it except for the battery life. it's average!
Everything else is premium including the screen. Speakers are loud but not as clear as my iphone xs. UI is zippy but does have its stutters sometimes. 4GB is ok, not a deal breaker by any means. The camera is amazing just like everyone says.
Ive compared it to the iPhone xs, and the pixel is guaranteed to get a better shot in all situations.

The battery life is very good for me especially for the battery being smaller then note. Yesterday battery went from 100% at 8:30 to 32% at midnight. That's pretty good in my book. Note 9 beats it still by a little but pixel has been great for me for smaller battery size

That depends on your usage . Last night my battery went from 88% to 68% without using it. I'm going to try a factory reset . But my biggest issue that I've noticed while watching YouTube is that the top notification bar is burnt in to the screen. I'm not sure if this will go away eventually or its permanent.

You have a photo?? My note 9 screen needs replaced due to screen issues and curious if my pixel will eventually have the same issues. But yeah that's way too much drop without using it. Should drop 10% max overnight without usage. I forgot to plug in one night at 15% late and woke up with it at 5% 8 hours later

I don't have a photo but it's only visible in a dark room. If it becomes much visible, I'll just have to get a replacement.

OP here. I took the advise and bought a pixel 3 XL.
Must admit, after few hours using it I had it back in the box ready to be sent back as I found it lacking a lot of features that the note 9 had. Main one was lack of notification LED.
Note 9 has every feature under the sun and one gets spoilt with these features.
I then tried the software notification apps like pixel pulse etc but they not that good and were hit and miss
Today I woke up and thought I’d give the pixel a try again and now having used it for the day I do like it very much. I’m using AOD which is fine and a good substitute to the notification LED.
Feature wise is doesn’t have all it all but it has enough and is fast and efficient.
I managed 7.5hr SoT today with AOD on and adaptive battery on aswell which surprised me, I hope it gets better or stays around this figure.
My note 9 is packed and ready to be sold. Yes I will miss the epic screen, audio, no notch, headphone jack, sd card but it was just the software side of things that lured me to the pixel and Timely updates.
I couldn’t get over the poor camera quality of the note 9, such a high end phone with a ok camera.
I welcome the smaller form factor of the XL. It’s noticeable in the hand for sure.

Must admit, after few hours using it I had it back in the box ready to be sent back as I found it lacking a lot of features that the note 9 had. Main one was lack of notification LED.
Note 9 has every feature under the sun and one gets spoilt with these features.
I then tried the software notification apps like pixel pulse etc but they not that good and were hit and miss
Today I woke up and thought I’d give the pixel a try again and now having used it for the day I do like it very much. I’m using AOD which is fine and a good substitute to the notification LED.
Feature wise is doesn’t have all it all but it has enough and is fast and efficient.
I managed 7.5hr SoT today with AOD on and adaptive battery on aswell which surprised me, I hope it gets better or stays around this figure.
My note 9 is packed and ready to be sold. Yes I will miss the epic screen, audio, no notch, headphone jack, sd card but it was just the software side of things that lured me to the pixel and Timely updates.
I couldn’t get over the poor camera quality of the note 9, such a high end phone with a ok camera.
I welcome the smaller form factor of the XL. It’s noticeable in the hand for sure.

Do you have brightness set at 20% or something?
I have mine set quite high as I hate looking at dim screens, but I never get anywhere near that kind of SOT. If I get to 4 hours I'm really, really lucky.

I keep mine on 50% or so and can manage 5 hours or so but not sure about 7.5 either

So as mentioned in the title, I'm wondering if it is worth it to get a Pixel 2 XL right now and I would really like to get the opinion of users that have been using the phone for a while.

I have the Pixel 2XL for now 2 months. It's a panda version, the best version with the orange power button it's look so cool.
I had a Nexus 6P during 2 years before the battery life goes down (the nexus 6p's battery symptoms) 90% to 0% in 1sc and a reload time of 30sc from 0 to 100%, and it's not a joke.
I had the choice between a Pixel 3XL or the Pixel 2XL. The 3 is and still expensive but the noth is not a issue for me. But after some weeks some issue appears on the 3XL and at the same time I could have -50% on a Panda version of the Pixel 2XL with a fabric case. My choice was done.
-Great battery life (before the january patch,thx google:crying I was between 7-8h of SOT, now with the january's patch is more like 5-6h.
- Still smooth
-Great camera but it has more noise than the Nexus 6p camera.
-Excellent screen, no burn issue and no blue effect. If you don't pass your time at full brightness, it should be good.
-No overheat (no game installed)
It's an excellent phone in 2019. Even 3 years old, my old and venerable 6P still smooth like the first day.
Its worth it only if you get it cheaper .. I came to Pixel 2 Xl after using many phones .. It has only three pro for me 1) stock speedy software and 2) camera which is excellent( best would be overstatement ) 3) battery is good( 6-7 hour screen on time )
If talk about negatives then
1) Speaker is ok but call quality from ear piece and mic is average ..I struggle to hear other side in noisy environment especially when using WhatsApp
2) limited storage 64GB and others devices with same price often have 128GB and some even support SD card
3) Design is boring
4) Display is bright only when you drag slider to 70/80 percent and even some midrange phone have more bright display than pixel 2 xl
5) get warm when using phone after hotspot is active
Its good device but far from perfect
If your avoiding the notch of the pixel 3xl then if go with the pixel 2 xl till they get ride of the notch.

Htc use to be the phone for me but the Nexus and pixel since they gone dual speaker is the best I've come across. Now wish they would add a ir blaster for those moments I can't find the TV/audio remote

Boring design ? What color did you have?
Thank you for your advices guys ! I'm sure the Galaxy S10 will be a much better phone in terms of hardware and design but I really got used to the google software especially the camera and google photos with the unlimited storage option. Maybe I should wait until the S10 announcement...

Reason i come back to pixel is because of software and updates..this fludity of software is missing in samsung and even there new software one UI is laggy and i have used all samsumg devices from S7 to S9
If we put pixel software in samsung hardware then that would be excellent device
Sadly pixel always have many basic issues about call quality/display/mic/speaker crackling etc even pixel 3 and 3 xl has some issues..dont know why google dont pay attention to basic functionality when charge premium prices
I came back to the 2 XL from the 3 XL. This is a really good device.

Yeah, the Pixel 2xl is worth it if you want to save some money. Perfect for those that don't mind not having all the extra features + latest specs and just want a good all-around phone with timely updates, smooth software and great camera. Really good phone if you can get one without any screen issues.

I've had my Pixel 2 XL since it came out. I've been pretty happy with it.
I like the design, build quality and materials. I think it's much better than the Pixel 3 XL because of the metal back instead of glass and no stupid notch.
Many people have complained about the screen. The screen isn't perfect. It does have a slight blue tint at extreme angles and there is some black crush and black smear at the lowest brightness. However, since I don't use my phone at extreme angles or at the lowest brightness I don't noticed those "issues". When it comes to color I actually prefer the Pixel 2 XL to the Pixel 3 XL. The Pixel 2 XL with "Boosted" color mode looks very life-like but with the Pixel 3 XL it didn't matter what color mode I tried it was still oversaturated.
Camera is fantastic.
Speakers are ok but not great but I don't use the speakers much so I don't care much.
The battery life of my Pixel 2 XL was stellar for the first 3 months but then I had 3 consecutive months of drops in battery life because of updates. Add to that the phone is now 15 months old and now the battery life is just ok. When it was brand new I got as good as 9 hours of screen on time doing basic things like browsing, Facebook, texting, email, etc on wifi most of the time with ~20 brightness with no gaming, Bluetooth, camera, etc and I could go like 40 hours off the charger with that usage. Now, the same kind of usage gets me maybe 6 hours screen on time over a period of maybe 18 hours. Not terrible but not great. On days where I'll be using it heavily(about 20% of my days) with mostly mobile data, taking pictures, streaming over Bluetooth, higher screen brightness (for use in bright sun), YouTube/Netflix, GPS, etc I have to take a battery pack with me which sucks and wasn't necessary for the first 3-5 months.
I did have an issue with the 3.5mm adapter and stock charger not working but it was a software issue that seems to be resolved now.
My only complaint now is the Bluetooth metadata bug that's been a problem since updating to Pie. The February update should be out tomorrow so I'm hoping maybe it will include a fix for that bug.
Overall pretty happy. Still not worth the insane price but no phone is.

Same here just purchased a brand new 2 XL after having a 3 XL. Actually like the 2 much better. Ended up with Fi promotion and trade-in getting it for $300. Hard to beat, especially when you get a 2 year warranty and two more Android versions directly from Google. Basically means I will probably get a 3 or 4 XL in eighteen months or so for free.
I had a extended sting with the OnePlus and initially that phone had it all. Performance, battery life, awesome gestures. Slowly little things like
1) annoying reoptimization of apps
2) missing very important alerts (home alarm notifications) because of the optimization
3) Lack of response by OnePlus regarding global issues related to
4) TuneIn radio app consistently does not start upon launch due to some connection issue (probably caused by aggressive doze). Persisted even after a factory reset and appears to be a global issue.
5) Lack of response from OnePlus regarding this issue as well.
I went back to my pixel xl 2 and the inefficiency of screen bothered me a bit coming from the OnePlus but since I installed OnePlus gestures (working a lot better than my 1st go round with the app) and I've gotten over that issue
Also i'm enjoying having
1) Always on Display back
2) Phone screen calling to give telemarkerters a taste of their own medicine
3) Better Camera especially with the night sight
4) Faster security updates
5) Faster access to the phone via physical finger print scanner
What is it with all those stories of pixel bricking itself randomly.

With the "boosted" mode, no problem for me
I had mine set to boosted but it still had the blue tint.
So have google fixed it?
I don't understand why people keep talking about the blue tint when the black crush is a much much more impactful problem.

What is the black crush?
First off I don't post often, so forgive me if I break rules. This topic is for discuss of current problems with the S10, S10+, S10E and there varients (Carrier/Unlocked). I will make some good points about the phone as well. Take it with a grain please.
I have the S10+ from Verizon and my phone is up to date as of March 8 2019, the day I bought the phone.
I have noticed a large amount of problems within 2 days of owning my device. Note, I switched from my Note 9 for this.
Here are a list of problems I have noticed, and how I remedied them.
1. Call volume - There is no more sound boost, and calls generally result in low output of the top speaker phone, resulting in a very hard time for me and no sure way to cure this problem as of right now. Note, I have hearing damage from the army, Note 9 was fine without call boost on.
2. Full screen for games is a now hidden feature almost, after some reading and digging, the solution I found is to manually go to phone settings -> display -> full screen apps -> select the app -> change auto to full screen default. Annoying given that my Note 9 and other Galaxy devices all had a toggle option inside each game for full and non full screen.
3. Substratum, A fonts do not install overlays anymore, Andromeda will bootloop your phone. Why... ?. Now I know this is more of Google than samsung, but man does it suck not being able to choose my favorite font and use flux for substratum to change those ugly indicators at the top. No solution, hopefully someone will find a workaround. I don't mind buying something that looks good, but theme store is literally filled with trash, Sorry.
4. Heating, pretty much all of my other phones never got anywhere near as hot and as often as this device did... I'm running the same settings and everything for the phone its self and for games themselves as well. My phone is constantly hot and even when not in use I can feel the warm device on my thigh whilst in my pocket. Solution, nothing.
5. Even though there is a indicators for the new fingerprint scanner under the display, it sometimes doesn't show and even if it does it's still hard to find. I find myself guessing most of the time with hope to get it right. Better indicator would be nice.
6. Fingerprint scanner, I have put several fingerprint on file of my right thumb and still have issues picking up the fingerprint to unlock without smashing down on the display for a clean crisp pickup. IDK what to say here. Kinda sucks but I still love it.
7. Display brightness outside, I cannot see the screen at all! When I'm outside and Max brightness is on. Help.
Nothing more as far as right now that's it.
Here is some ups thought.
1. Man that HDR 10+ is nice, I notice it right away with games and watching movies, YouTube, etc. Even with low lighting on my display, I can still see colors vividly and distinctly. GJ Sammy!
2. Better audio then the last as usual, distinctly sound with smooth crisp quality from both speakers. Makes great for gaming and movies ?
3. Fast fast fast fast, I noticed the difference and it is very much faster then the Note 9
4. Them cameras though.. ? dare I say more...
Not much more to say, again grain of salt. This is my first big post, let me know what you think and how you feel. Could any of these issues be fixed that I haven't already and how? Note, this was written on my S10+ so I'm gonna go put my hands in ice. ?
Get a replacement it should not overheat just be warm, especially if you are holding the device without a case and have max brightness the device is so thin you feel the heat from the display it is not overheating. if it is then get a replacement

I'm biding my time with it, I'm sure updates will fix everything. Thanks for your imput.
Display Problem
When I use Natural Display mode Everything is fine, But When i shift to Vivid mode.. Images get washed out and pale(Characters).
I tried multiple devices in the stores to check if that's only for me and realised its the same for all devices.
The S9 Image result is better than S10 plus(I was Shocked)
And then When i use Video Enhancer the Videos also get washed out
Frustated me tried to figure out the problem.
Opened an image in instagram, and the same image in Chrome(web insta), and one in GB insta(Mod app) The mod app looks closer the the real image. And When i open an image in Google Drive it was fine but when i download and open in photos app it has the same problem.
PS: its an image rendered personally by me. not a weird image that has some format issues
Tried to record a video with the difference, but it was not showing up on the video.
Did anyone have this issue?????

1. Call volume is fine for me. Just as loud or louder than the 9+ I came from.
2. I'm not much of a gamer, but clash of clans worked just fine when I loaded it up. Also worked fine using a game cloner with clash of clans.
3. This right here is why I stopped using things like substratum, magisk etc. Google ends up breaking them every update. With OneUI dark mode, I no longer feel the need to theme.
4. I have zero heart issues. In fact, even when I'd have heat issues on the 9+, I don't have them on the 10+. That's despite them shoving everything into a smaller phone with a bigger battery!
5. My fp icon works just fine. The only place it doesn't is using the Goodlock lockscreen.
6. The ASAB update helped a ton with the fpr. It's very finicky when it's wireless charging though. I'm using the pre-installed screen protector. I'd try turning on the display sensitivity.
7. Mine is perfectly bright enough outside. I'm using Lux for controlling screen brightness but it shouldn't matter.

Skins look very pale compared to my Note 9 and iPhone XS. I'm frustrated with this phone.

1. CAMERA: The cameras on the S10+ are worse than the Note 9, specially in low light conditions. Poor detail and blurry areas. Note 9 has Sony IMX camera sensors while the S10+ has ISOCELL.
2. DISPLAY: Not as bright as my Note 9. Whites are very muted and reds look yellowish/pale specially in human skins.
3. BATTERY: Definitely not better than my Note 9.
4. THERMALS: It gets hot so easily even when using low demanding tasks.
5. GAMING: It's impossible to run games at truly full resolution now that Game Tuner is gone. Also, in PUBG I notice constantly frame drops while in my Note 9 it's a smooth experience.
I'm sad. This device is so beautiful but it's a shame that Samsung didn't care about the actual performance.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's discovered that they are again placing different screens and camera sensors as in previous generations...

open your app switcher and tap the app icon.
I can't really help with the rest, but I figured this out when I updated my S9+ to 9.0.

So I have an Exynos S9+ that I can compare to my Snapdragon S10+ for this.
1. near identical for me, but I'm not a shutterbug. I do really like the ultrawide angle, though.
2. So I set my screen mode to vivid, and then all the way to cool. I can still see a warmer tone on the S10+, but it doesn't bother me. I almost prefer it. Brightness looks the same to me, but I have no way of measuring this. the other stuff, I just do not see.
3. Battery is waaaaaay better, but my S9+ has like a 3,500Mah I think.
4. Thermal feels fine. Didn't measure. Just seems okay to me.
5. I had this issue with every Exynos phone. My SD S10+ runs PUBG at max settings with zero stutter. My S9+ dropped frames a lot.
Honestly, if you're happy with your Note 9, save your money, but part of your issue may just be Exynos, not the S10.
I'm comparing to my previous S7 Edge, so the difference in generations is noticeable compared to people switching from the S9 or Note 9.
SPEED: The SPEED of the phone is truly amazing. No lag, no stutters, apps start very very quick. I don't do a lot of gaming except some card games and the phone never really gets hot.
I also noticed that there is no slowdown while charging the phone, which was a real PITA with the S7.
DISPLAY: The display is AMAZING, but compared to my wife's S9+ there is not that much of a difference. They're both great screens.
BATTERY: I had an ageing phone with a smaller battery so the endurance of this phone is stellar for me. I can easily survive the day. And because I charge the phone wireless in the car when going from/to home I never run out. I never charge above 80% btw to avoid battery wear as suggested by the developers of AccuBattery.
UNLOCKING: I'm not happy with the FPS. I was hoping that the new ultrasonic technology would work flawlessly, but I'm having 50% chances to unlock. So I use the (not very secure) facial unlock for now.
CAMERA: I don't really use the camera that much except for some occassional snap with friends, but I can still see the huge improvement over the S7. Not that much over the S9 though, although like I said, I don't really use it that much.
I've got the Exynos s10+ andhave come from a note 4 so everything is a pretty big upgrade.
My two gripes: the fingerprint reader is frustrating, but more importantly - no notification LED! I thought that edge lighting was going to be the substitute for that but apparently that's not how it works. Any solutions there?

I've been using the S10+ (Exynos) for a week and I'm very disappointed. I did an extensive comparison against my Note 9 and honestly I don't want to switch.
1. CAMERA: The cameras on the S10+ are worse than the Note 9, specially in low light conditions. Poor detail and blurry areas. Note 9 has Sony IMX camera sensors while the S10+ has ISOCELL.
2. DISPLAY: Not as bright as my Note 9. Whites are very muted and reds look yellowish/pale specially in human skins.
3. BATTERY: Definitely not better than my Note 9.
4. THERMALS: It gets hot so easily even when using low demanding tasks.
5. GAMING: It's impossible to run games at truly full resolution now that Game Tuner is gone. Also, in PUBG I notice constantly frame drops while in my Note 9 it's a smooth experience.

Yeah note was a better device for sure. Specially for gaming.

I honestly don't know. Everything I do is blazing fast, no stutters. (Except the FPS which is slowww).

My S10+ SD is One of the sleekest fastest feeling devices I've handled! ?
1. Call volume is fine for me.
2. Notch affects some games, but can adjust most by NOT selecting full screen. SOME don't work full screen even when toggled on
3. I have zero heat issues because the battery is SO BAD it doesn't last long enough to create any heat.
4. The FP is simply UNUSABLE! It's so unreliable it's easier to have it off.
5. Screen brightness is fine for me in direct sunlight , with sunglasses on even.
6. Noticing lagginess also the more I use it, specifically with the browser (chrome). Never experienced this type of lag with the previous 5 Samsung devices??
Kudos to anyone willing to wait through hopeful software updates, apply tricks to TRY to get he phone to work the way it should out of the box. I'm not that guy. This is going back. It's far more hassle to try to use it the way I'm used to. The Note 9 works much better than this crap.

I received the OnePlus 11 yesterday and here are my thoughts. For comparison, I've put it against a OnePlus 8 Pro (running clean OxygenOS 10), an S22 Ultra, and a Pixel 7 Pro.
What I Love:
+Build quality is exceptional, comparable to the Pixel 7 Pro but for $200 less. It's not quite S22 Ultra level but Samsung really sets the bar.
+The haptic feedback is hands down the best I've ever used. Vibration is strong, yet smooth and clean. The Pixel 7 Pro is very good too. The S22 Ultra is a bit weak.
+The screen is vibrant and crisp. It definitely beats the Pixel 7 Pro with saturation.
+80w charging is very convenient, especially compared to the Pixel 7 Pro which is under 30w.
+Speaker quality is quite good. Much more volume, bass, and fuller sound than its predecessors.
+Battery life already seems better than the Pixel 7 Pro and S22 Ultra but will have to give it time to calibrate.
+Surprisingly compact and lightweight compared to the S22 Ultra and Pixel 7 Pro; Other companies make you give up battery size and RAM to have more compact devices.
+The Aramid Fiber Case looks amazing, though it doesn't give much protection, especially around the camera bump.
What is Underwhelming:
-OxygenOS 13 is a disjointed mess. After using debloated and Pixel themed OneUI, as well as OxygenOS 10, this really feels like a cheap knockoff version of Android. Many apps and widgets use a different font, some apps follow Google's Material You design while others use OnePlus's color system. Many typical Android functions are buried deep in submenus. If I had updated the OnePlus 8 Pro from OOS10 to OOS13, it would have ruined the phone.
-Overall smoothness isn't that noticeably better than the OnePlus 8 Pro. Sure the Google apps and menus fly, but the OxygenOS 13 framework can be less than smooth at times. Maybe the OnePlus 8 Pro on OOS 10 was just that good, that even modern phones can't outclass it.
-No wireless charging. Yes, this was to keep the cost down, but I'd much rather they'd have included it, and maybe sold the charging brick separately instead. Charging ports do go bad, and it's nice to have a backup method.
-Not sure if it's a glitch or what, but setting a minimum DPI resets itself to default after a reboot.
What I recommend:
-Download a clean launcher such as Nova or Lawnchair. You can apply any icon pack to give a cleaner, more consistent look.
-Make sure the wallpaper you choose has colors you like or you may end up with really ugly themed Google Apps.
-Opt out of any optional "User Experience" software.
The main takeaways I got from this test is that nothing significant has changed in the past 4 years with Android and the compelling reasons to upgrade are less each year. All recent flagships are fast, all of them have great cameras, all of them get decent battery life, all are well built, and all will essentially do the same thing. Yes, 5G speeds are a big plus, but the average user won't notice differences in incremental processor updates, improvements to storage speed, or even to the camera. The biggest upgrade OnePlus could do is rebase OxygenOS on stock, like Motorola did with their UI. For the price, the OP11 gives you an amazing device that could get better with official or unofficial development.
Should you upgrade?:
If you're using a OnePlus 8 Pro or newer and all is well, I'd say no. Especially for those with a OnePlus 8 or 9 Pro that can flash custom ROMS, it makes sense to stay put.
If you want the latest and greatest, are on a budget, and don't mind a mediocre software experience, no wireless charging, and USB 2.0 only, the OP11 may be for you.
If smooth consistent software, and/or development is your top priority, go with the Pixel 7 Pro.
If you want an all around powerhouse with almost no compromises, go with the S22 Ultra or S23 Ultra. If you're willing to put in the effort, the vast customization options in OneUI allow you to create almost any UI style you'd like. A fully debloated Samsung running a full Pixel theme is actually the most enjoyable experience I've had with Android.
Yes. Wireless charging is not a caprice! It saves usb port !
Just like double tap to screen on or off saves power button . For me thats why OnePlus from 2015.

Don't look at the edges od the screen... You will be frustrated
As for me moving from OP6 to OP11 is a big and good step. Last android which i have it was Android 10 (without upgrade to 11) and all things which You describe as "bad" are good enough for me. I am little afraid that factory screen protection got a strange little scratches - i just put my phone on the board and almost do nothing...
Some updates after a few days. This phone is seriously buggy. I've been using Nova Launcher for a few days and there is an odd glitch where when I return to the homescreen, it's unresponsive for a second. If I try to open an app or swipe immediately after returning to the homescreen, nothing happens and I have to repeat the action. At first I thought it was an issue with the screen protector, but using the stock OnePlus launcher doesn't have this issue. As a test, I installed Lawnchair Launcher, and that repeatedly force closes. I've tried adjusting permissions and it made no difference.
The stock launcher is usable, with some odd bugs of it's own, but the fact that it doesn't play nice with third party launchers is disappointing.

You can probably fix this by turning on background activity and enabling auto start on nova launcher. I am using Lawnchair which is working fine, 98 percent of the time. Lawnfeed gives occasional glitches but all good so far.
I do not confirm, for me NovaLauncher works as soon as the fingers can click on the icons on the desktop.
No issues with Nova Launcher for me. How has battery life been for everyone?
Battery life is awesome. Way better than the OnePlus 8 Pro which already had great battery life.
Update on the launcher. I uninstalled Nova, reinstalled it cleared all data, turned on auto start and allowed background activity. It was working perfectly until I did some web browsing for awhile and went back to the homescreen. It required a double press of the app icon to get it to load. Granted it only occurs 1/10 times now instead of every other time but it's still odd. Two considerations, I use the Gesture based navigation, and I confirmed the problem is NOT present when using the 3 button soft key navigation.
Because you mentioned OnePlus 8Pro, how do you compare these two devices in cameras?

Have just upgraded to a Google Pixel 7 this week but not happy with it
I should have just got a oneplus 11 but 2 things are holding me off at the minute
No supcase (yet) for the phone I have to have this I work as an electrician
No custom roms Lineage etc
Tbh I might switch back to my OP7PRO running CrDroid it has been a great phone for the last 5 years the pixel is no match
The only reason I upgraded is for 5g and tbh that is no great shakes either

So far I really, really like the phone.
I came from a pixel 6a which honestly... I did not like much. So far this phone has fixed the things I hated from the 6a.
If the battery life is good without having to turn 5g off, I'll be very happy.
My only other OnePlus phone was a 5. Which they let me trade in for $210... It wasn't doing anything but sitting in my drawer anyways as it can't be used on most of the networks here anymore.

So far it's not even a fair comparison.
My largest issue with the 6a is that it couldn't live scroll video. It was horribly stuttery and generally unusable. I use video at work very often for troubleshooting and the 6a was very poor for that.

Cameras in these two models are different generations, of course with an indication of OP11.
When, three years ago, OP8PRO took pictures quickly and great after removing from the box, so after each Android update (at 11, out of 12, at 13) a photo with HDR take it for a long time:/
Restoring to OP8PRO factory settings did not improve the situation.

Comparing these two models, I am amazed and nervous about the fact from WiFi in OP11.
Both smartphones lie side by side on my desk. OP8Pro on WiFi flies like crazy, OP11 chokes, has a problem with internet access:/
It does not improve the situation (and even worsens!) turning on acceleration using dual-WiFi networks.
I hope that this is a matter of optimizing system software and after plastering applications, OnePlus will fix it.

I am really so surprised by the fact of weak WiFi in newest OnePlus 11.
Wifi has been great for me. Granted I'm using a Wifi 6 router which tends to perform better with newer devices. I haven't tried a Wifi 5 router.
I also use a WiFI 6 router and ran comparisons with the OP8 next to the OP11 and the OP11 slightly outperformed the OP8 in speed tests.
I have absolutely no issues with wifi.
One thing I am running into now is low Bluetooth volume.
I was finally able to leave 5g turned on all day at work. With the 6a it'd have killed the battery dead in 4 hours.
Another oddity is apparently I can't use the always on display when logged in to a secondary user/profile? The settings for it aren't even available.
I use a home and work profile.
In my case, the router is on the ground floor of the house and I work on the first floor. And in such a system in the 5GHz band, the OP11 model does not cope, and in the same place the OP8PRO model flies like crazy.
Theoretically, the network manager in OP11 signals signal strength as' "excellent". If I go down to the ground floor, the transfers are very fine.
The situation is improved by the change from the 5GHz band to 2.4GHz. Then on the OP11 floor it works decently.
Nevertheless, in the same conditions and place OP8PRO works much better than OP11. Without a doubt.
