iPhone w/ Pixel Stand - Google Pixel 3 XL Questions & Answers

I'm really tempted to return the wireless charger I bought and get a pixel stand, but I would like to know if the iPhone XS will charge @ 10w on it as my iPhone is my main phone and therefore the priority in terms of compatibility.
Thanks all

Dude check your attitude. I use both phones and was asking a basic question trying to figure out a way to have best of both worlds. Believe it or not, the Q&A sections is for asking questions. I know that might be difficult for you to grasp but at least give an effort.

I'm not sure he realizes how many people have multiple phones and I think there are quite a few people on this forum even have both the 3xl and XS Max in particular. Imo these are the 2 best flagships out right now and if I can get accessories that work seamlessly with both then that's what I'd like to do. Best of both worlds.

Good points, my bad. But I still think you guys are in the wrong forum

I'm not sure where you would post a question about the PIXEL STAND if this is not the right place?? Hey maybe someone in the iPhone forums bought the PIXEL stand cause they like the way it looked.
Let me know if you figure this out I would also like to know as I am waiting for $50 credit to order mine.

I know right!?! I mean maybe my rationale is totally off... But the seemingly logical thought process is that since the pixel stand is an accessory (which accessories don't get dedicated forums) specifically made for the pixel 3/3xl, that I would post a question about said particular accessory I'm the accessory forum of the device it's specifically made for.. crazy right!
Anyway, supposedly it will only charge the iPhone @ 5w but i haven't been able to validate this through any mainstream sources so I am highly considering just ordering one when I get my store credit and testing it for myself. Worst case it doesn't and I decide I don't like it and return it

Maybe this belongs in the accessories section. Mod move please?

I'd say the Accessories section is probably better but this section works just fine. I care about it because I also have an iPhone X as a secondary device and my with has an S9. I am was also curious if either or both of those phones would fast charge on my Pixel Stand.
Just ignore MArtyChubbs.
Regardless - The Pixel Stand is pretty great and even if it doesn't fast charge the iphone I'd say it's still worth it, especially for when you use our XL with it.

With lack of development going on, I have had a hard time ignoring FUD (like the CC ID stuff) and being significantly off topic or in the wrong sub section. That's all. Plus, why is everyone being so butt hurt? Agree to disagree, but ignore? Seems a tad self-righteous, but just ignore that...
Tip: there is a subsections for reviews here too... ?

Nexus Back Camera Swap with a SII / SIII

Hi there Nexus owners, I currently own a Nexus S, and I plan on switching to a Galaxy Nexus but I was wondering since the Sa Nexus camera is lacking in the numbers when it comes to megapixels, does anyone know of the possibilities of swapping the camera of an SII (8mp) with that of our phone?
My Nexus S takes good enough pictures at 5mp but I just want to justify the lack of a need for the SIII over the Nexus.
I found the back camera for an SII for sale here.

Because you can't just take apart 2 phones and swap parts frankenstein style. Just because they're both phone cameras doesn't mean they're "plug and play". These things aren't desktop computers, their parts are not interchangeable.
If you think that the camera on the GNex is that bad (it actually isn't), and a phone camera is that important to you, don't buy the GNex.
Thanks for the input, I brought it up only because I know a fairly similar act was successfully pulled off with the Galaxy S and the Galaxy S 4G, with the front camera swap. Maybe someone with better knowledge of the internals can give some insight on what differences exist if there are. I dont mind getting the GNEX to be frank, way to much pros over the cons, but I can't wait to be able to swap out parts off a phone on the fly like a computer. Now thats going to be the best thing that happened to the phone industry after Android.

Phones have been closed proprietary hardware systems since the modern smartphone. They're getting more closed and proprietary as time goes on. If you want better performance, battery life, and design you need them to be closed, sealed devices.
Even laptops are going this way. If you wanna swap parts get a dekstop computer.

The Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy S II camera modules are totally different. If the SII camera worked out of the box with the Galaxus' ISP (which is quite possible,) the connectors are completely different. It would require so much work that it just wouldn't be worth it by any stretch.
That and it probably wouldn't even fit inside the phone.

How many universal parts/standards do you see on the inside of phones? Even if parts were more universal your phone would be uglier than Frankenstein and look like a mummy with all the duct tape keeping it together so you have something usable. A lot of things would have to become standard before swapping parts in and out even becomes thinkable. Think when a thought pops happens upon your head.
let it be.
When i read threads like this or those "can i install Gingerbread on gnex? " i really think these are TROLLS trying to get people mad...
Makes no sense, you want a better camera? Get a nikkon camera... I dont even see the point on better cameras on a phone.. If i can take a picture to put a Face on my contact or to take any fast photo for a quick reference.. Im ok.. Now if I want really good pictures for a wedding, 15 years daughter party or any special moment.. Id hire a professional photographer.. Thats all about it
Ppl tends to be really stupid about this, like iphone fan Boys.. When they figured 4S its a piece of crap they only got left to say oh but the camera its awesome... Yeah?? Better than a nikkon 24mp / 300 photos per second / 2milles zoom 250gb internal memory 1 touch in screen per 300 photos?... I say go to hell

Thanks for ur inputs guys. That been said if you are a member of XDA then I will think you won't be one to comfortably accept what the manufacturer gave u as is, keep it in your pocket and feel satisfied, we are here to tweak, tinker and learn from these devices, some of us at least.
If no one challenged what manufacturers have handed down then there won't be a need for MIUI, Voodoo, Ezekeel etc. I was only looking to see the possibilities I am not an electronic head to know exactly what can be or cannot be done. But I sure can don't mind satisfying my curiosities by raising questions i am unsure about, so call me a troll if u want. "That don't faze me foo".

Even if possible, if. You got enough money to buy 2 phones just to swap cameras, or lets put it this way, the camera its so portant to you that you dont mind spending over 1k USD just to swap the camera and with the risk of damaging the 2 phones in the process (as you said "you are not an electronic head") so risk its even higher of messing all the things up.. And wasting 1k USD?? Ok thats your money its your problem but dont Think any decent person around here will lead you to that and as i said if the camera its so important, dude theres plenty devices out there with 8/12 mp cameras and you can always flash some stock/custom ICS room to that device.
So you can get your camera with ICS in a reasonable way and any1 could help you accomplish that

Don't forget the duct tape and jb-weld.
I still don't get why people are so worried with the GN's camera. I have both (GN & GS2) and can't tell from a glance "oh, this is the GN and this is the GS2" from looking at a picture.
- both are back illuminated sensors
- a 1920x1080 screen is 2 megapixels, most professional photographers say that 5 megapixels is more than enough, above is only useful if you *print* on large medias (eg. posters)
- both have the same sensor size
It is true that the GN had focus oddities and no image stabilization but this was fixed in 4.0.4. Don't forget that the GN has 2 CPUs (Cortex M3) dedicated solely to the camera subsystem. This is why there's instant shoot on that device.
Also consider that things change WAY too fast in this industry to develop standards. Intel can make a new CPU and ride on it for 2-3 years before they need to make a new one, even with AMD nipping at its heels. And when they make their CPU, they make it however they want, and the OEMs will build the form factor around it.
Smartphone companies do not have the same luxury. People want their sensor-laden connected supercomputers to fit comfortably in their hands, and they want it right now. If someone were to try to come up with a standard CPU, it would be obsolete before the ink dried on the standards page. Look how long it took them to agree on MicroUSB, and that's just a port.
Company: Here's your camera standard, the C5. Plug it into any board and you're good to go.
OEM: Only 8 megapixels? No backlight? Not good enough.
Company. OK, here's the C6.
Only 12 megapixels? NO CMOS sensor?
And on it goes.

Oneplus 3 or Oneplus 4?

So far I'm planning to buy a oneplus 3 on Christmas but earlier today i read an article about the oneplus 4 https://amp.ibtimes.co.uk/oneplus-4...-include-8gb-ram-merged-os-experience-1582897
They said that the oneplus 4 might release next year around april or may. So the question is should i wait until next year for the oneplus 4 or should i still get the oneplus 3?
Do you need a new phone? Buy it.
Don't? Wait.
It's not rocket science.

What i mean is if the op 4 will have similar or better performance, better design and better features as the op 3 to be worth the wait. To you it may not be rocket science, but for other people it could be a hard decision cuz you never know if the op4 could turn out bad than the previous one (although it might be unlikely).

Actually it's still a easy decision. If you honestly want a phone or need one now, make your purchase. If you wanna wait for something better to come out then wait. The OnePlus 3 is really not a bad phone compared to the OnePlus 2 and the limitations of the OnePlus X (Which I have)
Most phones have a 'shelf life' of 6 months before the next iteration comes out so it depends like everyone else says whether you need it now, or can wait. With any phone, you can keep waiting for the 'next' greatest one from any company... it just depends when you need it.
Just buy one used on Swappa for a good price and sell it and get a op4 if it turns out it's a good phone. Me personally I am going to sell my op3 when the pixel XL is released and drops in price.

Pixel Growing Old?

Ok so I don't know if I should have this discussion here or not but here it is.
How many are tired of their pixel I have a XL and Pixel both are unlocked and on stock they was originally on pure Nexus and at first I loved this phone but here lately I hardly even use my phone when I had my note 5 I always used it but idk if it's because I am getting older or what but I think I'm going to sell my pixels and move on to another device . Anyone else getting a lack of interest in the pixel?

The beautiful thing about the Pixel is that everything just works. I have an S8+ and don't really use it because it's just not a smooth experience. I also just got a OnePlus 5, and it's not really a match either (worse display & camera).

I think all you Pixel lovers are going to be in for a rude surprise when these start failing in large numbers like the Nexus 6P did. This phone is poorly engineered and runs way too hot internally. Unless Google has managed to reinvent the wheel high temperatures and electronic components have never been a good combination. The Pixel also has truly dreadful speakers. The 6P sounded so much better Google should really be ashamed. They're charging 300 dollars more for a device that runs much hotter than the 6P and which actually sounds worse than a garbage phone that my friend got for 30 dollars at the Cricket Store. I honestly think Pixel owners are in complete denial when it comes to this phone. Yeah the Pixel runs fast and smooth but the CPU gets so hot to achieve that performance that you'll probably have to buy a new Pixel every two years.
I have no problem with Pixel manufacturing or design, aside from the frame not being glued to the screen in the top right corner, which every Pixel device has, no idea why.
My problem with Pixel is that it is a dumb phone compared to something like Note or even Galaxy. All it does is browse the internet, that's it. It does browse very fast, but I could have gotten an iPhone if I wanted a fast dumb phone...
Not a bright OP really, stuttered to figure the English out anyway.
No, not tired of the phone, seven months old mine, and I love it. Best android phone I've ever owned, all I ever wanted was smooth android and Pixel is the first one fulfilling my need, so I'm gonna keep it for as long as I can unless I am really sold to the next iteration. Garbage UI like Samsung and LG's exists, making Pixel the so much better phone anyway.
Pardon the troll above mine, as always.
Lmao the fact people can't take a joke and differentiate between a joke and seriousness is sad.... my op was a serious question all of you who had to make a attempt at being funny ruined a real conversation. It's funny that's y'all was ok with being a prick till it got turned around on you. This is the internet so best not get offended over pettiness. I still stand by my op. It's sad you can't have a conversation these days without some smart as es who gotta ruin it for everyone.....

Sold my 128GB Pixel XL, got Oneplus 6 - bluetooth problems fixed. Advice, get rid now

So, I can now use my beautiful Huawei Watch again. Oneplus 6 doesn't have the BT bug, which I also knew Samsung fixed a while back.

Been using an OG Pixel XL since like a month after they launched and never had a single issue with Bluetooth. My Pebble used to disconnect from my Nexus 6 constantly, never on my Pixel XL and my Ticwatch E works flawlessly too.
Also, what does Samsung have to do with OnePlus..?

I have been happy with every flagship phone I owned since 2009. I also had a Note 7, which was an exceptional phone, aside from the sabotage that ended its life. Pixel XL has been the only crap flagship I owned, which I got to replace the Note 7. OP6 is a breath of fresh air compared to that Google garbage of bug nightmare.
But that's just my take on it, and why would I brag about bugs in the OP6 forum? Bugs belong where they originate, the bug swamp. Welcome to the party, and good-bye.

But that's just my take on it, and why would I brag about bugs in the OP6 forum? Bugs belong where they originate, the bug swamp. Welcome to the party, and good-bye.

I moved from OnePlus 5 to Google Pixel XL and I couldn't be happier with it. I am glad to have switched.

Why would he want to have bought a defective phone?

Good Lord you whine like a baby giraffe. I mean they probably whine. I have no first have knowledge. Let's assume. Anyway man, you're not adding anything to the forums here you're just complaining. I suggest you pack your bags and head on over to the forum of the phone you have and stop trolling. And I'm only suggesting out of love. Your father would've wanted it this way.

Will You Get the XL3?

I'm just curious how many of you plan on getting the XL3. I've bought a new flagship every year since 2011 but I'm not really liking the leaks I've seen of the XL3. Perhaps once I see one in person my opinion will change but right now I'm seriously thinking about keeping a phone for 2 years for the first time. I would consider the Note 9, V40, etc. but I'm pretty much sold on the Pixel line and don't really want a third party device. The smaller Pixel 3 looks nice but I don't want a small screen. Even 6in feels small to me these days so I know I wouldn't like anything less than 6.
What are y'alls plan this fall? Please vote in the poll.

I am on same boat, but most probably will buy Pixel 3 XL unless it is too ugly
Nope. I don't see the need or even want to get a phone yearly anymore. I don't even get people who switch multiple phones within the same year. The differences and advances are so subtle. Waiting every 2 years makes it more worthwhile.

Can't argue with you. It would definitely make a lot more sense to wait 2 years.
No, waiting for the notch fad to die, then I'll get a notchless Pixel 4 XL
And I don't think the new SoCs and features are enough these days to upgrade yearly. The benefits hardly justify spending $1000 (in Canadian Monopoly money) every 12 months
Like OP, I get a new phone every year and that trend will most likely continue when the 3XL releases. I don't mind the notch, so no big deal for me there!
Absolutely
No. To be honest Pixel 3 is more interesting for me. Quite compact, no notch. If it will has good battery and really new features I will think about switching from my 2xl.

Who knows until official release and hands on...
I'll be holding on to the pxl2 until I get the wife's permission to buy the next pixel! So pixel 6 probably.
