How to enable carrier aggregation (LTE+) on Redmi note 5? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi!
How to enable carrier aggregation (LTE+) on Redmi note 5 Global? Does it work on Linegae OS?
Best!

CA work by default. I got 4G+ (LTE+) all the time on my RN5P Global

@otonieru
How ? Which bands is it agregating ? I have never seen a 4G+ in my WHYRED"s statusbar

it's B40+B40 and B5+B40

So it appears that agregation is somehow limited co certiain bands and therefore works in some countries only :/
Here is Poland B1, B3, B4, B20 and B38 are avaliable. And how did You check which bands is Your phone agegating ?

Network Signal Guru App from Play Store,
and i happen to work in carrier company, so i know which band we are using and how we co figured it

@otonieru
That's a great news
LTE+ was available for You all the time or it just appeared after update ?
I'm asking because somebody tried to enable CA on WHYRED and it was partially succesfull (LTE+ was shown, but CA wasn't working). So now (as CA appears to be working) all that needs to be done is to change in Diag mode which band should be used (to enable CA for different frequencies)

it's been there since MIUI 9 (time when i bought the phone)
btw, the + sign wont appear to begin with if the band is not aggregated. so i think if u managed to see the sign, the CA should be working

@otonieru
I have never seen a 4G+ sign on my WHYRED Global. My guesses are, that CA is working (as it's working for You), but not with the bands that are avaliable in Poland. In about a month I'm gonna go into USB Diag mode and try to enable something more EU compatible (like B3+B7)

So i have tried to enable it. I managed to install everything, connect my phone .... But whenever i try to edit NVRAM value it giver error - cant read (no such file ...). I kept left cliking on that value, managed to edit it, rebooted my phone (tried to enable LTE CA on band 1 1+20). No 4G+ though and now QPST wont see my phone anymore :/
Why are those NVRAM values unreadable by QXDM professional and why cant QPST detect my phone (it is visible in device manager as a diagnostic device)
It appears, that those LTE CA items aren"t there. Wird. Is there any way to open a .qnc file to compare two different modems ?

you need to make a backup in .xqcn format, and compare it in software like Notepad++
also, it will help to have QRCT tools, not just QPST and QXDM
btw, some values belong to newer modems are no longer readable by older QXDM, you need new version.
no cracked one for that though. You either need to know some qualcomm guys, or work in a company that has access to newer software version (QPDT, QXDM, QRCT. I just happen to be quite lucky to be in the second group.

@otonieru
Yeah. Newer QXDM professional is needed as intra band agreagtion files aren"t readable as well :/
I"ve tried to read something from modem file.qxcn but ... most of it is digits and letters (hexadecimal code i guess)
Can You please check if Yours newer version of QXDM can read LTE CA files ? (they are in NV browser under category RF LTE)

@otonieru
Can You please check if QXDM 4+ (as this appears to be more up to date LTE capable version) can read LTE CA values ? I would love to now whether downloading cracked QXDM 4 from some dodgy sites and risking installing some nasty malware on my PC is even worth it

Converting a X727 to a x720, 4G bands supported ?

Hi, I´m from Portugal and my Carrier is MEO. For 4G they support band 20/3/7.
I want to buy LeTV LeEco Le Pro 3 X727 and it says he only supports 4G FDD-LTE: 2/4/5/7/12/17/29/30/38.
LeEco Le Pro 3 X720 support 4G FDD-LTE: B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/20.
IF i install Lineage rom, or another Rom for X720 on x727 model, do he gonna support the same bands as 720? the 2/7/20?
Thx in advance and sorry for my poor English.

Yes I confirm it has B3, I checked on the official LeEco website.

Also to answer your question, the supported bands are written to the NVRAM of the phone and aren't part of the rom. So no, if you flash a X720 rom on an X727 you won't unlock any addition bands.

Yeah, the baseband chip support all bands as it's part of the SoC. The modem driver is kind of generic. It reads a bit of read only storage on the phone called NV_RAM which contains stuff like the bands the phone supports, the IMEI, etc. So it is sometimes possible to unlock additional bands by editing the NV_RAM

So editing this in the Build.prop makes all x720 custom roms compatible with x727 (in theory)

I have the LEX 727 from Amazon but no working bands 2 or 4, any ideas to help me? changing the rom to the chinese version? something in the modem, baseband?

NVRAM isn't in the build prop, its a special bit of persistent memory in the phone. To edit it you need to put the phone into diagnostic mode and use QPST.
And yeah, Melbourne is pretty sweet. I hope to see you here soon!

Download QXDM/QPST then boot into Factory mode. Connect with QXDM/QPST and let us know what you come up with. I recommend you back up the NV memory first before making changes.
There is a thread around about how to boot into facory mode using ffutool...
Edit: Also do know that altering the QC EFS data can cause your phone to not boot or become unstable.

Is this one:

They say this in the specs:

So i'm afraid that i have no access to 4G network in Vodafone Portugal.
Even 3G, it sims to cover only one of the two frequencies used by Vodafone in Portugal.

Is the IDOL 4 Pro (EURO Variant) not available or too expensive to go with instead? That is the model that supports the needed frequencies for Europe....
EDIT:
Code:
Alcatel IDOL 4 Pro Specifications.........
[B]GSM Band 850/900/1800/1900
LTE Bands 1/3/7/8/20/28A/38
[/B]Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac
Wi-Fi Calling 1.0
Idol 4 pro is not available in Serbia, I for really long time use Windows Phone and I em satisfied with it. Friend of mine offered knowing that I love windows phones to bay me Alcatel Idol 4S North America version. Price is very tempting and I accepted but main reason is that I want to stay on Windows Phone for few years more.

The european version, sell in UK, for example, costs almost 500€ and the canadian/USA version costs less then 100€
I live in Serbia, Serbia is not yet part of European union so European model is not available in Serbia. Even if it's available it is to expensive for me ☺ . Mine only question is for supported basebands, it's confusing because on Microsoft store spec are umts bands 2,4,5 and people here are claiming 1,2,4,5 . LTE bands are even more confusing. Is there anybody that used this Phone ( Microsoft GSM unlocked version ) outside US and Canada to share experience.
Phone has arrived and I am truly impressed. I don't have lte band but it's not deal breaker for me. 2G 3G and 4G working great and I am happy to rapport so if anybody has doubt it will work in Europe.
Did anybody find the way to unlock more lte bands. I read that it is not so easy like on Lumia phones. It is necessary to unlock bootloader and after that it is theoretically possible to change modem configuration.

If your referring to the Idol 4s, I wouldn't waste too much time. There have been attempts to do this on the open market model that have failed. If you need the phone to work in European countries you should buy the Idol 4 pro.
You can still attempt it if you want but if you don't know where to start then you're already asking for problems..
Just do searches in Google and on XDA if you need more resources. Note that you risk bricking your device or making it unstable too.

Lte band 20

First, sorry for my english. I bought a Chinese version of MI 9 SE in China. So the device is without LTE band 20. Is there any possibility to unlock the LTE band 20? I use Xioami.eu Stable ROM.

It has nothing todo with the modem. Its Hardware site removed/restricted. Alot of people tryd allready with other phones to open band 20, with no luck.
Try this if you think it should work...but i dont think so..

Das ist Hardware mässig gesperrt/entfernt wurden. Da kann man nix machen. Bei Xiaomi falls LTE band 20 benötigt wird, immer die Global Version kaufen.

Code:
13. click on line 06828 (lte_bc_config); click the Read button
I tried all the methods available, no luck. Our phones doesn't have that parameter at all. LTE bands are configured somewhere else. I am leaning the way that we need some kind of modified QCN file. I got original QCN backup before starting mess with fsg and modemst1 partitions. But I think QCN is not restoring the original state. If only I could have EFS partition backup (didn't know what it is then). If you know somebody willing to share his/her EFS, it would be starting point.

Carrier Aggregation Band Combinations

Hi , Where can i find the Carrier Aggregation Band Combinations , for the Redmi Note 8 Pro Global Model ?
For exemple B3+B7+B28 or B1+B7 ....
I know it's 3CA , but there's no info about Band Combinations , inter-band , intra-band ...
About this Carrier Aggregation , is there a difference between global rom and EU rom ?
I just found this : LTE FDD: B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B20/B28
LTE TDD: B38/B40
but no info on CA .
With Engeneer code *#*#3646633#*#* , i can see bands , but no Carrier Aggregation Band Combinations .
I searched everywhere , but I did not find anything concerning the Carrier Aggregation Band Combinations .
I just found an option to activate CA .
Tengo el mismo inconveniente... B7+B28=4G+ (Chile)

After many tests, it is obvious that some applications like Netmonster are not always reliable.
The best way to check for the presence of any aggregation is to check with the code *#*#4636#*#*
You have to enable developer mode to use the code: Go to "Settings", "About phone", and click 7 times on "MIUI version" .
Hi
I think we can see carrier Aggregation Band Combinations available on Qualcomm with QPST Flash Tools , QxDM Professional , LTE Band Calculator ...
Is it possible to find the carrier Aggregation Band Combinations available on RN8 Pro Mediatek with Maui Meta , EFT dongle , SP Tool MTK + FlashROM ... ?

I have build CA Combo databases, but i don't have Xiaomi Redmi 8 Pro combos. I think closest i have Redmi Note 8 https://cacombos.com/device?model=M1908C3JG or Redmi Note 8T: https://cacombos.com/device?model=M1908C3XG
You can collect these from your device. I have instruction for that: https://mt-tech.fi/en/how-to-get-4g-supported-ca-combinations-from-your-android-phone/ (Check Xiaomi section) Can you then send logs to [email protected] (with your phone model number and provider name) so i can parse these and update combos to my site? If you also have any other device, you can try get CA combos out so we can build together better database.
There is also another database https://smartphonecombo.it/ but there neither have Redmi 8 Pro.
I think RN 8 Pro supports only B1+B3... I have problem with that because it is not enabled B3+B20 in this device. With RN 8T and Mi 9T Pro everything works fine...
With RN 8 Pro (EEA) I don't have nowhere 4G+ (B3+B20). I noticed in very few location that appears for a second 4G+ (B3 1800+).
If I disable B20 in Engineering mode, I get for a short 4G+ (1800 or 1800+1800 or 1800+2100 or 1800+1800+2100). If I disable B3 I get only 4G (but shows 800+1800 or 800+2100 or 1800+1800 or 800+1800+1800 or 800+1800+2100 or 800+1800+1800+2100). So definetely is some problem/ROM bug with B3+B20 in my case.
You are right - it support 1+3 and Intra-CA. I just got device on my hand and i can confirm these bands and combinations are supported: https://cacombos.com/device?model=M1906G7G
I also noticed problem with aggregation on B3+B20. My network provider recently added B1 in my location so aggregation on B1+B3 started to work, bot not at all 3 carriers like in other device. The same problem I had with other Chinese phone, but is was dedicated for Chinese market. I am surprised by such a savings policy in a not the cheapest model.
Question about carrier aggregation, is it possible to copy the LTE NVRAM configuration files from a phone with 4G+ enabled and replace them to another phone with the same chipset that has it's CA disabled using modem odem meta, I have been looking at this files but don't know where to start

- china_msim_restrictions.xml
- disable_nsa_mmwave_bands.xml
- lte_feature_restrictions.xml
regards

These files doesn't unlock B20 - this is hardware limitation. Bands are configured to nvitems but on 5G phones many things changed.
But could you please share to me your modem log file so i can list all hardware supported 4G bands to my cacombos.com website? I have here instruction how to get log file: https://mt-tech.fi/en/how-to-get-4g...phone/#Method_for_Qualcomm_Devices_after_2020 and you can send it to: https://cacombos.com/contribute . This help me understand what bands & combinations this device support.

Hello folks, i need your help to unlock the band 20 of redmi K30 5G. Currently i have Chinese rom installed .
Is a way to unlock the band 20 ? I saw new Xiaomi MI 10, if you change the rom will enable the band 20 . ( in that case is a software limitation)
In our case ?
Thank you !

If you change any ROMs from global to China and vice versa won't unlock the bands. This is locked down with hardware, not software. Older Qualcomm devices could unlock bands with Qualcomm tools/programs. This isn't the case with newer models.
