Possible to edit/replace boot logo.bin after unlocking bootloader? - Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Questions & Answers

I received my Mi A2 Lite yesterday (yay!). I have unlocked the bootloader and have rooted. I opted not to install TWRP since backups can't be restored. The only issue I have is with the unlocked bootloader...when I boot up I get the warning message that the system has been unlocked. Is it possible to edit the logo.bin with a different image so I (we) don't need to see that anymore? I am coming from a long use of several Moto phones where I could easily create a new logo.bin with a custom picture to hide the unlocked bootloader warning. I used a program called Moto Boot Logo Maker. It appears to be catered to the Moto line but may work with the Xiaomi. If anyone can provide the stock logo.bin I can try editing it. Or at least tell me how to extract the logo.bin from my phone. I tried extracting it with Terminal Emulator but it failed saying the location didn't exist. So what I need to find is the location.
Thanks!

inside stock rom there's a file called splash.img, that i think is the bootimage, but i'm not sure the warning can be removed, i think only the bootimage could be modified.
Also take care of what you are doing because flashing splash may brick your phone in a way that only edl mode can fix.
Let me know if you find a way

I found this for the Xiaomi Mi A1. I replaced image #5 with the same Android One image that starts off the boot animation. I then resized all the images to 1080x2280 to match our device, and had to compress image #2 smaller for the program to run...but it completed without errors and gave me a splash image! I am hesitant to flash it though - the path for most devices appears to be:
/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/splash
The path for splash image I found is:
/dev/block/platform/soc/7824900.sdhci/by-name/splash
I have included the resulting splash image for anyone brave enough to try. It is NOT flashable. It will have to be done manually through adb or Terminal Emulator.

I haven't been brave enough to flash my "new" splash.img yet. I have extracted the stock splash.img from the stock firmware download and am hoping/trying to find a way to extract/view the files/pictures on it before proceeding. I haven't had any luck using winiamge or other similar programs. Anyone have an idea to open/view the splash.img?

Success...kind of. I flashed the splash.img I posted in post #3. I no longer get the warning to lock the bootloader. Instead it boots up with a dark screen and a small linux penguin...which is really weird because I don't know where that image even came from. I used a white background that said Android One. It's better than the warning image though.

Wrong how? What would be needed to make it right?
I have replaced many logo.bin on Moto phones (qualcomm variants). It is easier though with Moto though since there is tool designed specifically for editing Moto logos. The tool I used from the Mi A1 may need to be tailored for the Mi A2 Lite but that is beyond my capability.

Does anyone know any more about how to do this? I found that when I flashed the splash.img from post #3, aside from booting with a black screen with the Linux penguin, it also messes up the image on the fastboot screen (which is nothing special as it is). That being said, fastboot still functions with ADB, just the image on the phone is messed up. I wound up reflashing the stock spash.img and am dealing with the unlocked bootloader message.

Yeah, its very annoying. I dont like that super bright white boot animation screen. I would just prefer and easily color invert :good:

I found this on Motorola One forum, it should work with A2 Lite. I didn't test it tho, I don't have unlocked bootloader.

I am using splash.img from

Flashed via fastboot, works on Oreo as well.

I am 99.9% certain that won't work. Moto phones use a logo.bin. The Xiaomi uses a splash.img. FInding a program to edit the splash.img is the problem.

HTC One m8 doesn't boot

So I recently got a European M8 and thought I would root it which turned out to be a bad idea. To start off with, it didn't root properly anyway so i carried on using it. Today I wanted to recover it back to stock (When I got it out of the box) I did a command using fastboot which was along the lines of fastboot boot boot.img but now my HTC will launch the screen displaying that it is a build for development purposes only and then it goes to a black screen but still turned on. It seems to me like there is no Operating System for the phone to boot from.
PLEASE HELP ME
Issue Solved - 22/01/16

Hard to help, if we don't know exactly what you did. Try to explain in detail (or as best you can) the exact steps (including file names, version numbers, etc.) of what you performed.

Again, hard to tell what the issue is, if we don't know exactly what you did.
Are you sure you didn't do fastboot flash? I don't think you would do anything permanent with the command fastboot boot.
What exactly were you trying to boot/flash with this command? What was the file name, where did you get it from, and what was the exact intent?
Did you get this idea from a thread or guide?

If you hold power + vol up for a long time (30 seconds or more) does the phone reboot? Then what, black screen again?
Do Power + vol up again. The moment the screen goes dark (but before the HTC logo screen with the red text warning) let go of those buttons, and only hold power down; and don't let go until you see the bootloader screen. If this fails, try again, you probably just got the timing wrong (started pressing vol down too late, or let go of it too early).
Once in bootloader, select fastboot (if not in that mode already) using vol keys, then confirm with power button. Connect to computer and do: fastboot getvar all
Post the getvar output (delete IMEI and serial numbers before you post).
Again, i am really sorry but i do not understand what i did. It asked me to flash the ROM Update Utility and then use fastboot boot boot.img which then screwed it up and yes when i boot up and reboot it just goes to a black screen.
Here is the info:

I seriously doubt that you can't remember any of the steps you did to try to root it.
Just sounds like you are too lazy to type. So why should I put forth more effort than you; when you are the one that wants help?
Describe as best you can, that is all I ask.

Do you have a file in your fastboot folder (wherever fastboot.exe is located) what is actually named boot.img?
And you really can't remember if you got this idea from a thread? You had to come up with it somehow.
What were you even trying to do here? What did you think the command would do?
Again, either you are just being lazy, evasive, or got hit on the head to cause amnesia; if you can't answer the questions.
So I was looking for tutorials on how to root it and I cam across a program (cannot remember the name) which was designed to root it with a few clicks of buttons ect. I already new how to unlock the boot-loader because I owned a HTC desire 510. I went back onto my phone it has twrp installed but I use root checker and it says that proper root access is not granted and I have tried to use SuperSU but I got the binary issue so I gave up. It was working fine but today I decided I wanted to revert it back to stock again but did something which completely messed it up.
Also, i decided i wanted to restore it because if it broke and i needed it to be repaired it would void my warranty. I was thinking when i reset the RUU it would make it stock again but it did not.
Now, that's more like it!

An Android app, or PC program?
Either way, one-click type root apps don't work on HTC devices. PC based toolkits worked at one time, but were never updated to support the recent software builds (outdated TWRP versions fail on Lollipop, and outdated SuperSU versions fail).

What did you think you were doing with the fastboot command (fastboot boot boot.img)?
One thing I can say for sure: Don't try mods, fastboot commands, etc. unless you know exactly what you are doing (such as following reputable instructions to the letter). The command you did just isn't right. You either got it from a bad source, or you decided to improvise or experiment (really bad idea). You made the issue much worse than it was to begin with (probably just needed to flash the updated SuperSU zip, maybe also update TWRP).

Fastboot boot means you are trying to remote boot something without flashing it. A boot.img isn't bootable. I've only seen this done with recovery.img
I think you meant to do: fastboot flash boot boot.img
The one different word makes a huge difference. The action is to flash, not boot. The "boot" is the location of where to flash to.
Also, even if you properly flashed boot.img, this is just the kernel, and wouldn't change much. To return to stock, you want to flash a full ROM. And kernel, ROM and firmware are not interchangeable terms, so don't for a second think they are.
Ok. Is it possible though to revert it back to stock and if yes, do you think you can help me?
Do the fastboot command: fastboot oem lock. Then download the 4.16.401.10 RUU from the following thread, and run it from PC: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376
Your alternative is to restore the proper stock TWRP backup. While the relevant files are on that same link, you'll find clearer instruction on the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860

The security warning just means you altered something in the stock software (root, kernel, etc.). It doesn't matter, as the RUU will write all partitions to factory condition.

NO. Its required to be LOCKED or RELOCKED to run RUU.

You probably just need to disconnect the phone and start again. RUU just gets stuck sometimes. It shouldn't take any more than 5 or 10 minutes.

some fix is to be done on script. meanwhile use adb method. I ve updated the thread.
Thanks for making the custom logos and this thread in particular.
But I'm pretty convinced that changing the logo on xt1644 doesn't do anything other than leave the "N/A" text on a black screen.
Actually nevermind, I was trying to flash the .zip not the .bin like in previous places I've read to do this

Than for the logo. It works fine and the stock black warning screen was really ugly!
Only one thing... I like a lot the arrow solution BUT.... may I ask for a better Z?
It's too left positioned in my opinion and really a not so nice font used for it... what do you think about a solution with a Z partially superimposed on Moto logo on the right bottom of it?
This way even the arrow would be more "integrated" in my opinion (and both will disappear in seconds during boot)! :fingers-crossed:
Let me know your opinion on this...

reCoded's Moto G4 Plus Boot Logo Pack
Hey Moto G4 Plus users! You may know the unlocked bootloader screen and it's quite annoying to see. Well, I created these boot logos and they hide the n/a text from the boot screen! Another thing is, these boot logos use the new "Powered by Android" logo at the bottom which all 2017 phones are starting to get.
How to install
Fastboot (.bin)
First, you need to boot into the bootloader. (Power off, hold power and volume down)
Plug the phone to your computer.
Put the boot logo file that you downloaded into your fastboot folder. (Example: BlackCircleMoto.bin)
Setup fastboot and type "fastboot devices" and make sure your phone shows up.
If your phone shows up then type "fastboot flash logo logo.bin" (Replace logo.bin with the boot logo file you downloaded. Example: BlackCircleMoto.bin)
If everything goes well, you can type "fastboot reboot"
Flashable (.zip)
Just flash it in the recovery. It's that easy!

Thank you Very Much for the Boot Logo's.
They are Greatly appreciated and they are ones that work for me.
I like darker ones that do not drain my battery.
I have been digging a lot lately trying to figure out how to make my own.

They are just pictures I found on the web that represent Freedom and Adventure to me, I have tried to get them to work but with no luck.

Question Unbrick tool for the 6/6 Pro yet?

So here's the story, TL;DR at bottom.
So I have been checking out gaming phones for a little bit and saw the RedMagic 6 Pro and was captivated by its glowing RGB, 16GB of RAM, high refresh screen, a delicate and strange but mighty internal fan and A BATTERY THAT WOULD LAST ME ALL DAY.
So naturally I ordered the phone as soon as it launched in NA and waited about a week and before I got it. Once I did, it was like Willy Wonka and I was Charlie with a golden ticket.
At first I didn't notice anything wrong, maybe these glitches were there all along and I just never noticed it. After some steady usage, I started noticing little things here and there that were annoying, like the app switcher not opening sometimes, not closing apps, notifications not showing, misspelled words in the Settings app. You know, annoying stuff like that.
Obviously I tried to do factory resets a couple times to see if it would help but nothing fixed it so my conclusion was that something was wrong with the software itself.
My next idea was to download and try to I guess manually update the phone in hopes that that would also reload part of the system...¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Went to the global rom page on redmagic.gg>downloaded the rom to my computer that matched my phone model>factory reset the phone>copied update over>manual install through settings>phone says installing... whatever>then reboots to the RedMagic boot logo and never goes from there.
So now I'm sitting here, clearly devastated by the loss of my little pocket heater, my side table light show, my phone I use to cheat on Apple and iPhone with (shh don't tell Siri).
Things I've already tried>
1) More factory resets through the recovery
2) Letting the battery die and then charging it.... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
3) extracting .img from payload update file and flashing through fastboot (always fails due to locked bootloader)
4) Reaching out to Nubia support, I don't think they like me because they haven't answered back yet.
TL;DR -- Is there a way to unbrick/reflash the 6 or 6 Pro with a locked bootloader yet?
waiting for same thing.... quite sad that i can't use my phone just from an update
Yeah, there is a number of us in the same position. We could start a club. The really expensive paperweight club or something. I've also reached out to support. They asked a couple of questions, I promptly answered, and thin it's been crickets since.
Are you unable to unlock the bootloader?

Are you unlocked? Did you flash anything?

So here's the story, TL;DR at bottom.
So I have been checking out gaming phones for a little bit and saw the RedMagic 6 Pro and was captivated by its glowing RGB, 16GB of RAM, high refresh screen, a delicate and strange but mighty internal fan and A BATTERY THAT WOULD LAST ME ALL DAY.
So naturally I ordered the phone as soon as it launched in NA and waited about a week and before I got it. Once I did, it was like Willy Wonka and I was Charlie with a golden ticket.

Where is everybody getting TWRP? I don't think there is one yet for the 6 yet. Not till there is kernel source available.
I have the rom extracted here for both the EU and NA/Asia releases. In each is an output folder. You need to flash the boot.img.
in Treble based roms the boot and recovery are in the boot.img. So you flashed over the whole boot image with TWRP that isn't working for the 6 yet, so it defaults to fastboot.

i was in same situation like you,,start RM6 only on fastboot but thie works ,download you rom from this page https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/1BE4FSGDcfXavYoJ3Kw3toGMiPHgCGakC?usp=sharing
extract boot.img to your folder with fastboot
start mobile in fastboot
and open cmd.
fastboot device
if you see your device try next command
fastboot flash boot boot.img
restart your phone and you have stock recovery,,wipe data and you have unbricked device
i download latest twrp but not working and after install twrp i was stucked in fast boot like you
I pulled apart the RM5 unbrick tool to see if I can learn anything that might help us that are stuck at the logo screen. So obviously this contains the RM5 rom right now.
It contains all the firehose files and script and such and obviously the image to the RM5. I was looking into if it could be used to recover the RM6. I've been slammed at work and not been able to dig into it as I'd like, but i have it located here if anybody wants to dig into it too.

That's what I was hoping for but worried it's going to take more than just that, like the GPT layout and some other things.
For sure you will need the partition table, rawprogram, & a firehose for the SD888; I'd be surprised if the one for the RM5 would work on the RM6.
