Still on stock android 5! - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So my wife’s lg g3 still running stock android 5. She complains on bad battery life. I replaced the battery but I think it is the rom. Before I factory reset it,
Any new faster battery friendly recommend rom?
Thanks

Is the ROM rooted? If so you could run a utility like Better Battery Stats to determine what's draining battery while asleep. Stock ROMs usually have a bunch of stuff running that can suck down the battery. Some unneeded items can probably be turned off or controlled in some way.
If she prefers stock you could probably update to Marshmallow which may or may not be better as far as battery. There are some custom stock ROMs based on MM like Fulmics and Clean ROM. The latter still maintained/supported I believe. It's leaner with less cruft than standard stock.
As far as AOSP/CM/LOS ROMs go there's a lot to choose from. From Lollipop up to current Pie. I wouldn't know what to recommend. I run old stuff but there's no support so Oreo or Pie would be the choice as far as dev support. Maybe Nougat, too.
I'm sure other users will have some good recommendations.
Oh, and don't forget to specify your G3 variant.
LG G3 D851, AOSPA-L ROM, Nebula Rev9.3 Kernel, microG (NoGapps), MultiROM, XDA Legacy

All stock d855

Update
So the phone has no root and I see that the OS and the kernel is taking a lot of battery.
Any suggestions for fast and battery friendly ROM?

Since the phone is not rooted you'll have to tackle that first before looking at any ROMs. Could be wrong but I think the D855 has a locked bootloader. If so it's gotta be unlocked, get TWRP recovery installed, and rooted.
Over the years I've only followed the general and T-Mobile (D851) G3 threads so I'm not sure exactly of what methods to use on your phone.
LG G3 D851, Mahdi v2.9 ROM (4.4.4), microG (NoGApps), MultiROM, XDA Legacy

I can install kingsroot and after that autorec and then twrp
Question is: what best rom do you recommend?
Pie or 15.1?

I have not tried Pie on any device since I multiboot. Due to hardware issues (failed sdcard slot) on my previous G3 I only recently tried Oreo, crDroid 4.6 and Liquid Remix 9.1.3. I am way late to the Oreo and Pie party so I can't recommend anything.
Check the G3 Development subforum and see what folks are saying about the various ROMs.

Moto G5S Plus XT1806, MSM-Xtended v2.5 ROM, MultiROM, XDA Legacy

Thanks but there are so many...
I would probably install lineageos 16 and see.
I will update when done

That is what I am asking. I have no idea if Android Pay works on Fulmic
Based on other threads, android pay will not work on any unlocked bootloader which is needed to boot into a custom rom. Search for more info.
Sorry

I have Android pay working on my d851 running a custom AOSP 6.0.1 rom (brokenOs which is not allowed on XDA).

Which cfw ROM 6.0 is best for D850??

Which one is best in these regards..
Performance, Battery Timing etc,,
ROM Based on 6.0 with UX 5.0
1. Flumic
2. Limitless
3. Other if you know,,,, please share your experience......
Thanks in advanced..
Fulmics is the best for g3 in performance and look.others are cyanogen based and doesn't compete with the lg Rom. So go with the fulmics.

Can I flash a custom rom on the phone after oreo update ?

I have updated to oreo but the phone has terrible battery life even after trying to disable some wakelocks , using greenify , forcing doze etc. I was wondering if I could flash lineage os or let's say resurrection remix on the phone while it has oreo firmware .
I also would like to know

Of course custom roms can be flashed after stock Oreo update.
BUT:
You need to read the requirements in the thread for the specific rom you wish to flash.
There is no single answer for all cases/roms.
Each rom is going to be different, based on whatever blobs were used during rom compilation.
If the rom was built using Oreo blobs, then Oreo firmware is required.
If the rom was compiled using Nougat blobs, then it would require Nougat firmware, despite the actual version of android it is...
So...., read the OP of the thread for the rom you want to flash.
If that doesn't answer your question, then read the last 5-10 pages of the thread.
Still no answer found, then ask in that particular rom thread, what firmware is required.
It's actually pretty simple and typically requires a little reading.
(eventually, all Oreo based custom roms, should be using Oreo blobs and would then require Oreo firmware)
Things are in what I consider a transition phase currently....
TL;DR: LeeDroid 5+ is your only option ATM.

LG G3 D855 custom Rom??

Is anybody still using a LG G3?
I love mine, I rooted it recently and install Lineage 15(android 8.0)
I keep getting the Magisk safetynet fail.
Should I flash a different Rom?
Is there a better Rom?
Or can anybody help me with the safety net?
Thanks
Maybe try flashing latest version of magisk if you already hadn't?
I had resurrection remix for a day or two which is pretty similar ROM but I forgot if I had any problems with safetynet.
I have Magisk 16.0 installed and it says it is upto date.
Someone told me, it should be 16.1.
Mgisk 16 is the latest version as of today.
The only thing I can tell you is to download a bunch of top roms and try each one...
I'm using fulmics, which is based on stock rom and is outdated af, but SafetyNet is passing.
I just want to have everything run as its supposed to and be able to delete blot wear etc.
The stock Rom was OK, but I thought I'd give a custom Rom a go and see what it's all about.
The safetynet is the main problem I've found so far.
If you want a debloated stock based MM ROM, I recommend CleanROM, works great - fast, debloated, choice of kernel and which apps to install or not and more in aroma installer. Magisk is included.
About safetynet: as others have recommended, use magisk 16. Works with every ROM I tried, Fromm MM to O.
I'm on Lineage 15.1 now, with CleanROM as secondary via multirom (for the stock camera, but safetynet won't work on secondary). But the other Oreo ROMs work nicely, too.

LG mobile is not updating to the latest version of Android 9

Hi,
Is it possible to fix the problem of LG g3 cat6 to update from Android version 6 to Android version 9
Which is the latest Android version on 18 may 2019.
This is specially because pressing update button not working, and even enabled auto updates don't work.
How to fix this problem.
Best regards.
It's not a problem and nothing to fix. Marshmallow is/was the last for the G3. There was no Nougat and no Oreo. Why would you think there would be a Pie? The G3 is EOL, plain and simple.
My favorite device and daily driver but that's the reality.
Essential PH-1, /e/ 0.6-n ROM, microG (NoGapps), XDA Legacy
@plo6g9, I forgot to mention, so even though we never got any stock past Marshmallow there were a lot of custom ROMs to enjoy. Pie included. Not sure of your variant but you can check out the G3 Development threads and maybe others specific to your variant.
