i did not start the topic .. the thread isnt mine .. check your glasses and stop crying
as to my description of the subject : the signal bar is not a constant thing .. it is variable it differs across place and time .. i used to get full signal all the time on my note 5 but despite this reception was not that good .. on mate 20 i dont get full signal most of the time and hence i wrote 3-5 signals .. but the talk quality is good and no dropped calls or reception .. so i dont know why my comments seems to offend you ?! but i dont care
as to post owner : did you try to fiddle with your network settings and try the 3g network instead and see if that matters ?!

horrible signal

I cant understand why a 200 dollar phone has such horrible signal strength. I have stock rom gb ( i am rooted though) running on my incredible 2, and my db level is always between -90 to -102 showing 1 bar or none while my wifes droid x shows -72db to -70 at all times all over our house and everywhere we go. It gets even worse when I put a silicone case from verizon on it. Is there anything I can do"? I had a thunderbolt that had slightly better signal but this is ridiculous, anyone else experiencing this?
I think if this continues , I might not have a choice but to trade this phone for something else. I would really like to keep this though so any suggestions would really be appreciated thanks
Unless the devices were calibrated on the same equipment, you can't rely on the accuracy of their signal strength measurements.
Are you having any REAL problems or do you just not like what your phone displays and perceive a problem? Mine shows between -80 and -100 usually and I get great call and data performance out of it.
Try going into settings-calls-then network. I changed from global to cdma and it seemed to help. Ymmv

Try a different back cover. The antenna is in that. May have a bad cover. Mine came with two and one of them gave me better signal than the other. Take it to verizon, they should switch it out for free. Mine gets awesome signal everywere.

that's really interestiing.
Can anyone confirm or have you tried factory reset after GB? On Froyo I had decent/good signal, but after GB it's been horrible. I am steady with 1-2 bars even in areas I used to get full bars and my dBm is around 90-102. My battery has seriously been crap since and I keep hearing and have been told by HTC/Verizon to do a factory reset to fix it but I don't know if I want to. Just curious if anyone has done it.

that is correct. the antenna is in the back cover. try removing the back cover and watch as it loses signal completely. to make things worse though, it seems the antenna is focused at the bottom of the case.. so similiar issue to what the iphone 4 was having.
i wonder if there's small booster antennas you could stick on to the phone somewhere(sure sounds like nonsense but i'd give it a try).

yeah of course they are going to tell you that b.s. just like if you go to the geek squad with a pc problem and they'll say "oh you need to reinstall windows".
i just know if you did a reset it wouldn't fix anything.

Yea, it's the answer to solve anything just like Windows "Reboot the machine" fix.
I don't think I'll do a reset but it'd be nice to know if this will be addressed or if there's a manual fix we can do.
ok, for the hell of it i decided to buy this "cell phone signal booster"

apparently it'll come in 3-5 days so once it arrives i'll try it out and let you guys know if it actually works or not.

They still sell those? You know it's just a sticker with some ink, right? It's not going to do anything for you. They've been around for something like 20 years now and have been proven to be junk...

that's how desperate i am...
i used to have these 'radiation blocker' stickers i put on my old moto razr. doubt they did anything either but my old job was throwing them away so thought 'why not'.
Mine is horrible as well. Just got the phone 2 weeks ago b4 unl. data went bye bye. My old samsung rogue got amazing reception but this doesnt. I have not dropped a call yet though so maybe the reception bar is just a "dummy" graphic?
No difference from froyo to gb either

This signal bar is definitely conservative. I've set the phone exactly next to my Galaxy Tab, both showing signal strength within 2 db of one another. The DInc2 showed 0 bars while the Galaxy Tab showed 2.
I know the extended battery with back cover gives me better reception then my standard cover. My phone loses signal, drops calls and isnt able to send texts or make calls sometimes while my wifes phone is able to and the wifi has been losing signal as well. On craigslist it goes
very interesting to know that the antenna is on the actual battery cover. i removed my cover and i wasnt able to see it (i assume it is built into the mold?)

Why do you think the cell phone signal booster is junk? Actually, I have got quite a good one which boost the signal at my apartment immensely. maybe you can go to their site and take a look. Their site is jammerall.com , hope I can be of help.

What I called junk was not a signal booster. It was a sticker to be placed in the battery compartment purported to boost signal when it does nothing at all. They use to be very expensive ($20-$50) until it was proven they didn't work, then the price dropped ($1-free).
Real signal boosters (pieces of hardware which will actively boost/relay a signal) actually do something to boost signal, and they really work. They also tend to not be cheap.

Different from other electronics, cell phones have become the necessity of every one's daily life. If someone still has no idea of mobile phones, you must say that "Out!" of course except the senior citizens. To be honest, cell phones really bring us lots of benefits. We use it for talking, sending and playing. With it, our life can be modern one, without it, we will be live in the Mars, you know, know nothing about each other. But do cell phones have no disadvantages? Of course not, more and more people are using cell phones at the cost of other interests. Noises are everywhere, especially the one of mobile phones. What should we do, throw them away? It is a stupid behavior. Have you ever heard cell phone signal booster? It is a new kind of device to solve this problem, effective in blocking the signals of your cell phone and its nearby base station. one side, the mobile phone really benefits us a lot, but another side we also benefit from its noises for a long time, so the fight between the cell phone and cell phone jammer has been a hot topic in society now. Which side you stand by, jamming or not, it depends on you.

better radio for t-mobile us?

my baseband right now is i9250xxkk1 and i'm getting absolutely horrendous service in my home. i'm constantly on 1 bar of edge and even worse than that, almost everytime i'm on a call it'll just randomly lose service for 30 seconds and come back.
Never had any issues like this on my nexus one, i always had to shut 3G off so it didn't get stuck trying to switch to edge, but once it was on edge it worked just fine. this phone is just getting to the point where i can't make phone calls in my own room.
it's not always though. it had been good for like 4 days, but today now i've tried to make 3 calls and eventually i just gave up and used the house phone. i can even leave it in the same spot with 4 bars of edge, and as soon i pick it up and move it drops to 1 bar or loses service. and i mean move it by only a couple inches. or hell, i can just leave it there and it'll fluctuate between no service and 1,2,3,4 bars.
really hoping someone can give me some help here cause this is getting really annoying.
Have you tried the radio UGLK1 ? It is optimized for North America.

thanks. i'll give this one a shot. i don't mind being stuck on edge, i just want to be stuck on edge, not losing service every few seconds.
There's no perfect radio for a specific carrier. It depends on your location as well.
I'm personally using xxkk6 on T-Mobile US and getting great service and speeds.
i'm not asking for perfect, just to actually have stable edge service in my home.
so far the radio posted above has worked good. was on a 30 minute phone call with my phone in all the locations it used to drop and it stayed at 2-3 bars. only dropped to 1 a couple times and quickly went back up.
looking forward to seeing if it improves my 3g speeds at all later today.
I'm on T-Mobile and prefer XXKK6.

Sounds like you are experiencing the "bug" that me and many othgers have been experiencing after flashing 4.0.3+ AOSP ROMS... I have a thread dedicated to it with some solutions.
Take a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1487239 and read through. You will see that there are certain Radio / ROM / Kernel combos that fix this issue. The issue is NOT all RADIO related.
Hope this helps...

Note 4 Issues?

I currently have an HTC One Max that I will be returning after basically leasing it for a year from Sprint *sigh*. I am interested in picking up the Note 4, and am curious to what issues anyone that currently owns one is having. I have seen reports of GPS issues and dropped calls, so can anyone confirm this or mention any other problems that they may be experiencing. Also interested in the overall experience with the phone, besides few developers. Any input would be appreciated as it will either be this phone or the m9, but I would like to keep a larger screen .
Thanks in advance
A few people saying they've dropped calls doesn't mean anything imo and I haven't read anything about gps problems either. I love my N4. No regrets.

Yea I know. Something I thought about before getting it. That's one thing I'll miss a lot coming from my s4.

This is the same with my One Max, which I haven't ran into to many scenarios where its been an issue. Would be nice if Sprint were to fix the problem with voice and data that they created. I have read articles about them rolling out a volte solution in the near future, but I am not holding my breathe.
I've had mine for a week or so now and I've run into several situations where people say they've tried to call me but my phone never rang nor did it notify me that I'd missed a call. Still working on trying to figure out if it's the phone or Sprint or something wonky with the rom I've been running.

[Q] Signal loss issue according to battery stats

Is anyone else seeing this on their battery stats? So much red spots? I am on 2G/3G auto mode. Check attachment for screenshot.
Does anyone know how to switch basebands? Or even what different kinds of basebands are there?
FYI I have 3 other devices which never experience this issue.
Replying in my own thread: So no one experiences weird signal loss?

Try to set only 2g.
Mine suggestion, use 2g when you don't use internet too much, and switch to 3g when you really need it.
Also 2g/3g switching drains battery, bacause when there is bad 3g signal, device disable it, then switch to 2g and then device need to find network again.. Too much battery drain.

My dear friend, this is a common issue in all Zenfone 2. Even I had raised the same Question here in XDA once, but nobody else agreed with me.

Yes I have got this problem still..
We have tried everything already. Like, swapping SIM1 and SIM2, trying different carrier SIM cards, taking new genuine micro sim cards...etc.. but no help. But some say that if you make it, 2G only then it works fine. But I did not try and not bothered to try such a stupid solution. Hope Asus will fix it in a future FW release..

Hey,
I'm not sure if you or anybody else does still care, but try setting your preferred network type to 2G/3G or only one of those.
I missed several calls on my ZE551ML due to signal loss and doing this solved the problem.
I'm not sure if it was ASUS's or my operators fault, but this helped me a lot.
Resolved
If your Zenfone lost signal sim card sometime and drain down battery.
Here is my solution, just ROOT your Zenphone and install that app for keep your battery alive: "Zenphone fix" app on google play
Share that app if you fixed this problem.

Poor Reception

Hello,
Is there any modems that I can try loading to improve reception? I had a Moto Z Play before this and got great reception. Now, when I visit my second company site, sometimes I wont get texts or calls for hours because I am not getting reception... In my main company location, I struggle to get reception too, but it works...
Maybe any Rom suggestions that may improve my reception?
Thanks!

well i'll go ahead and tell you that Oos will give you slightly better signal than most custom roms (at least in my experience). but thats not saying theres not anything out there that I haven't seen...... but AFAIK no.
Stay on OxygenOS, but you can't do miracles because our op5t is not exactly a champ in signal reception. In my experience it's easily beaten by Xperia xz1 and Galaxy S7, and that is something the "reviewers" forget to mention, though.
Agreed with the latest 2 comments, nothing much you can do, but I've tried several roms, and found out the best experience is yet with OOS roms.

Hey All ,
I dont really have bad reception but when my signal drops like gone and I get back into a better area it takes forever to reconnect. Sometimes i just toggle flight mode but it's really annoying . Is this my 5t having a hard time or could it be a carrier thing ? Using O2 in Germany
Thanks

Same here, I feel your pain, my car is parked in my garage where I have no reception at all, every time I get out with my car it takes forever to reconnect and for Waze to find traffic information.
Not your device bro, not your carrier either, just regular OP5T daily issue. Using Orange in France.
