S5 Aroma installation roms - Galaxy S 5 Developer Discussion [Developers Only]

Isn't there a better way to install stock based custom roms that uses Aroma installer other than changing TWRP back to an old version such as 3.0.1?

There is no possible way that Aroma installation would support on klte due to some issues. Sorry.

Well, do to the Facts, in which, using "Aroma" to install a whole Rom is not supported. This has not been fully supported from just about the beginning. As of Recent, early 2018...It was not being updated for really doing this! Also, As of today, I really have no clue why one would Need it, to install an App. Or Rom!!??!!?!
Now, knowing this, YOU pretty much Answered your Q! Rolling back to an older TRWP, would do the trick (I am not sure which one did ..at this time..been a while since I used Aroma..)
One would have to Roll back or use a Different and older Recovery Build. Seeing that you have asked this, here on Galaxy S5 thread. There are many older Recoveries, that "Did" Support that feature. Would have to look through the Threads.
Second, I am aware of any "...stock based custom roms ..." Really can't even think on one off the top of my head. There are other ways ( look through XDA- Galaxy S5 ) to install a custom Rom (Free-Droid) But again, Aroma was not, really meant to do a complete Rom (Yes, Google does have Apps, in which, one "Could" use Aroma, However, that is Installing "Their" Stuff.) Really not doing a whole Build! I Would actually Question a Rom, (Now a days) that would be installed that way.
Hope this helps you. Just trying to answer you Q

I am not sure which rom you already flashed since that information was not in your post.
If you have the "Wicked 7" rom flashed, then all you need to do is to start the flash again as usual
& then the AROMA installer will display a choice of only changing the options instead of flashing
the entire rom a second or third time.
The Wicked 7 rom is the only Tmobile M919 Jellybean 4.2.2 stock based custom rom which is available
with that special option not having to re-flash the rom just to change the select different options.
It's like having 2 AROMA installers, one for flashing the rom itself & the other for changing the options.
The "Wicked" roms is what I have been using for years now and I have not found any other roms
which are as excellent and full of new and useful features and options.
It is also the most reliable and error free rom I have flashed.
( I have flashed and tried them all and found nothing better)
Good luck!

[Q] Upgrading to lollipop / unlocked / rooted /xposed working /deodexed

Since lollipop is out now for the z1 compact there are a lot of threads about upgrading, rooting, xposed working - not working.
Just as many of you I'm running on kitkat / unlocked / rooted and I make use of xposed modules.
I've been looking through some of those threads but once you think you know the way to go there will be somebody else experiencing problems with that specific method.
I'm looking for a broader perspective.
Just as there are threads about how to upgrade there are also a lot of bugs mentioned but not everybody seems to be impacted by them.
And there are of course the custom roms, some kitkat based some lollipop based.
Before switching to the xperia I used a HTC One and there was a custom rom developer who would stick to the options foreseen in the original one but he changed the code for speed and reliability, it was also based on a aroma installer that gave the choice to leave some bloatware out at installation time.
This is something I would like to see happening for the z1c, not just adding new features but streamlining the existing rom.
As of now I'm running on the xzdualrecovery on a rooted and unlocked kitkat and I'm using some xposed modues.
I consider upgrading if I knew more about the bugs, will I be impacted and I'm looking for a complete guide on how to.
As far as I know the Italian customized rom is the one with the least bloatware in it, so that is he one I'd like to use as a start
Some people already have reported zip files you can flash from recovery and they seem to be pre-rooted. Do I need to use one of them or is it possible to
flash a rom
unlock or do I need the unlocked bootloader from the beginning?
root it
make sure xposed runs, xposed seems to need deodexed roms, are they available?
So I like to see a plan on how to
Unlock
root
upgrade
make xposed running
have a correct bootloader
and have a recovery (xzdualrecovery or something else)
I know this is a list of questions but such a guide would help a lot of people like me, I'm not a complete newbie but I'm neither a rom developer so I like a guide on how to accomplish things.
If the stock rom is bugfree and stable enough that's the one I'd stick to, otherwise I need to have a look at custom roms and then I think I need to consult the custom rom developer on how to install his/her custom rom.
All the above mentioned questions will be related to installing / unlocking / rooting a stock rom.

At least I have one guide
http://techbeasts.com/2015/04/20/root-xperia-z1-compact-d5503-14-5-a-0-242-5-0-2-firmware-plus-recovery/
This seems enough for unlocking and rooting, don't know about xposed, they don't mention it.
Even then they talk about how to unlock your bootloader.
I've done it this way in the past but I'm unsure if the bootloader for KK is the same as for Lollipop, I have no idea if this is changed. There is a thread about an unlocked bootloader, I'll ask over there if they know about differences between LP and KK, if there are none then we have guide explaining all the steps
I do not have any info yet on the bootloader but I do have some more news on Xposed.
It's not only the Xperia that's having problems with xposed on lollipop, other phones are impacted as well.
Once a certain number of apps is installed the bootlooping starts.
Xposed seems to open too many files at boot time.
A solution is to find out how many apps may be installed on your phone before it gets into a bootloop.
Another (and better) solution is to increase the upper limit of open files at boot time, but this is only available on an unlocked bootlader since it requires a modified kernel to be installed.
A lot of posts can be found at Xposed for lollipop.
Since xposed is still in an alpha phase I think rovo89 will fix this in a future release of xposed.
If you want to fix this right now you can have a look at this thread
The post about the changed kernel is this one
I am on stock RU version, heard it was the best I have also had some bootloop experiences with xposed. Some guys have reported success but their method requires a "bloatware" script that removes ****load of useful apps. Bleh!
Right now it's just wait and see. I miss xposed but am also really enjoying this lollipop update, the performance (too soon?) looks better than the custom roms available. IMO

[APP][SNAPSHOT]Dual-Boot Patcher - Even On /Data!

REMEMBER THIS IS A SNAPSHOT BUILD, THAT MEANS THE APK IS BUILT AS SOON AS CHANGES ARE PUSHED FROM THE MASTER HIMSELF @chenxiaolong
I'm proud to present the first dual boot project for the Qualcomm-based Samsung Galaxy S4! This project started off as a feature in my ROM, but not anymore. This will allow any two ROMs (soon, three) to be installed at the same time. It works by patching the secondary ROM's installation scripts and boot image to load the ROM files from an alternate location (/system/dual, /cache/dual, and /data/dual). Because of the way this is implemented, no changes to the primary ROM are necessary

Tested Personally myself @ktetreault14 with the G920T Xtresolite 5.0.2 ROM (found here) as my primary rom. I then used @eousphoros 5.1.1 Debloated V2 ROM (found here) as my secondary. I even have a Sprint OE2 rom I was testing in a third slot. You might wonder how this is possible. All thanks to chenxiaolong's brilliant multibooting system. He has now added in the ability to install roms straight from your /data partition All without touching your primary rom. You could be stock rooted and have no problems as long as it isn't aroma. (In which case I think you could alwasys use flashfire) The S6 Edge didnt have a very large /system partition (only 4.05 gb ) and /cache was nothing to brag about either (for those inquiring minds it is 304.7mb) So naturally I asked the amazing quick chen if there was any way I could Install it to my ~25gb /data partition, within days he whipped something up... But enough with the story get on with the tutorial and show me the downloads... Ok Fine.. Here. We. Go!!!!!!!!!!!! :fingers-crossed:
TUTORIAL AND PICS AND VIDEOS
I'm Assuming you have the apk downloaded and installed. Also you have the rom and, if you need it, the kernel already downloaded on placed on your phone's memory.
Step 1| Open the apk, Swipe right from left edge, Patch Zip File.
Step 2| That is obvioulsy not your phone so lets change that. Click jflte and select zerolte in the dropdown. (BTW all those other phones are supported too.)
Step 3| Change where you would like it to install too. (Most likely going to be /data unless the roms are heavily debloated or AOSP) For the purposes of this tutorial it is going to /data
Step 4| Name your ROM. Pick Your ROM.
Step 5| Ignore The Information Here, Scroll down, Tap to begin patching. Do as many times as you would like
Step 6| Open hamburger menu, ROMs, click the FAB (Floating Action Button), click +, pick patched rom.
Step 7| Keep Installation Location or change if you are not sure. Do as with many zips you would like to install.
Step 8| Click checkmark in top left corner.
Step 9| Reboot and you will boot up into new rom
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SWITCH ROMS
Step 1. Open App
Step 2. Click ROMs
Step 3. Click Rom you want to boot to
Step 4. Reboot

Nope. You only need root for the app if you want to flash in-app. Just patch rom and install from recovery

App sharing problem
I didn't check the box that it says to check if you want to share info from one partition to another but it is sharing. How do I stop that? I want to have one ROM for work and one for personal without the info of pics crossing over.
s6 edge?
This is posted in the tmobile s6 edge forum but you only mention using this with the s4. Is this actually usable on the s6 edge? I checked the threads of chenxiaolong from post #1 but I only saw reference to the s4 in his threads as well.
I'd like to dual boot my phone but this thread doesn't make me believe it works for us s6 edge users.
Yeah using it noe
It seems arter kernel not supported.

Jsut need to know if this is currently working for S6 Edge
I have the g920 flat s6t and haven't have any issues duel booting. Always had Sickness roms as my primary and with all his versions i had no issues with duel boot but now in his latest v9 built i am unable to duel boot. When i reboot secondary rom it stays at samsung boot logo, it does not go into recovery. When i flash the utility zip to switch to primary rom it boot loops and goes to recovery and none of the roms boots..so i reflashed sick as hell v7 and its duel booting good. The rom developer told me he have no change anything from v7 to v9 he just added some tweaks and xtra apps, don't understand why is not duel booting with latest rom. I did flashed the log file. I will attach it.

BLN-L24 links have bad key in the Honor 6x Repository thread

Need to rollback, or be advised of any custom ROMS that work..
Try Elite ROM from ROM section. it should work fine.
I personally would not recommend installing Elite ROM as it is more hassle than it is worth when you try to switch ROMs. It re/debrands your device and even after restoring a nandroid your audio will not work nor will your camera function properly. What files have bad keys? I put a lot of those up and the keys should work fine....
@shashank1320 check the links in the BLN-L24 section....something got messed up when you copied my links as mine work.
@ghostair is your device bricked? IMO none of the ROMs for this phone are worth installing on a main phone because there is too much functionality lost, no disrespect to the devs. Elite ROM does have the least amount of bugs but it is a hassle as I mentioned earlier. My main gripe about it is when installing and uninstalling apps you must restart the device in order for the apps to be added or removed from the app drawer....its a major annoyance.

No it's not bricked, actually I am on TWRP 3.1.1-0, it was only EliteROM's version that didn't work. I haven't even been able to use the phone at all, for a week, and am currently on LineageOS 13 as it was only release that works for my model it seems.

Im confused....your original post says you need to rollback but you say you are currently on LOS 13?? Rolling back refers to downgrading from Android 7.0 (Nougat) to 6.0.1 (MM) but you are already on MM if you are running LOS 13. You also say your device is not bricked but then in the next sentence say you havent been able to use it at all for a week.....and lastly you say LOS 13 was the only release to work for your model yet every single ROM in the development forum can be flashed to the BLN-L24, I know because I have done it.
What exactly are you trying to accomplish here? Your posts are contradictory and make no sense. Id be glad to help but you gotta give me something to work with here.
Im assuming you did not make a full backup in TWRP before flashing any ROMs, in which case you have learned a valuable lesson....always have a backup. But since you dont we will get you back to EMUI which I assume is what you mean when you say roll back.

I understand, I probably should have just used, "go back," to EMUI. Since LOS 13 isn't usable in the least, as I can't make calls, and it drops LTE.
If they work then how? I followed everything, flashing vendor.img with fastboot, then flashing the respective zip?
I'd rather not go back to EMUI, it's why I haven't been able to actually "use it as a phone," since purchase.
Why would you not want to go back to EMUI? Its smooth and everything works. EMUI is the reason you havent been able to use it as a phone?? There is not one single ROM for this device that works entirely and has full functionality. You're always going to be missing something whether its the camera, LTE, calls, etc.
You're going to have to go back to EMUI so you can update to Anrdoid 7.0 (be sure to make a full backup) and then flash away all the ROMS you like and you will see they are all broken in some way. This is most definitely not the phone to use if you are looking for polished ROMs.
My last tip before departing......download the flashable vendor zip if you still want to mess around with the ROMs, it makes life much easier. Its in one of the threads in that forum I think AOKP

Which Roms can be installed with QI15 firmware

I have purchased yet another note 4 for the grandson. His firmware is QI15. Original plan was for me to use it, but since my Pixel 3a XL is still yet a lease I might as well use it. Plus it is a lot faster anyway.. His mother does not have the money to buy one for him, so I figured what the hell, he can have it.Which roms can he use.. I no longer have mine, but will root this if it is still possible.. From reading you can't downgrade from MM to LL. But can you downgrade to a earlier version of MM? Thanks.
inYes, that is correct but also cant downgrade the bootloader/modem. That is because of fused 5, binary 4. and te old official stock 5DQ15 .tar md5 can be fashed via Odin. Any other stock firmware below that has a fused 4 and flashing will result in a bricked device.
If your already on 5DQ15 and wish to flash customer roms then use TWRP and make a back up of all partitions to external sd. The any custom rom for Sprint Note 4 (sm-n910p) on Marshmallow are/should compatible. Basically, follow the instructions provided by the rom developer but do not flash a different bootloader or modem. Other than that follow all other institution. For best results, start in setting , sustem update and turm of automatic updates then update PRL and Profile beforehand. Developer Option and usb debugging enabled.
Rooting the Sprint Note 4 on 5DQ15 still possible? Yes 100% SuperSu or Magisk are the preferred root methods.

then reboot and give it time to properly set up set up. Check if hotspot is visible setting and check your apn settings. If all looks good and it should the return to TWRP and once again make a back up and rename (2019-10-05-deodexStockNoroot.....) so not to be mistaken with any other backups. After that flash root .zip and/or a custum rom of you choice.

I 100% agree that not being able to downgrade sucks big time. I hear all the hipe about new Android OS updates but there are advantages of older versions. In 2018, I searched for a replacement with a lower bootloader but simply couldn't find one. Knowing that peope were bricking there device and Odin fails I decided to get one in fair condition. Being the type to mod and flash yet unsure of what ir how to do that as custom roms are specific to bootloader and modem. I figured, I'll practice with a cheap on incase I hard brick. At the time there didnt seem to be specific information on what rom worked with 5DQ15. I started out with Stockist Plus tidbits Q15. My old Note 4 was on [MOAR v2.1] [ULTIMATE Note5 Hybrid] on lollipop 5.1.1. and had lost of customizations prebuild. So going from the Mother Of All Roms (MOAR) on lollipop to Stockish Q15 on marshmallow, just sucked. It didnt take long before I started taking calculated risks with flashing and porting, even from other models and variations. Stepping out side the box but within boundaries. For instance, the n910f is an international version but much of its software is compatible with the n910p. For instance, this one works on n910p with most stockish roms on Sprint Note 4. With Custum roms it may conflict depending on the setting. If stockish rom or custom rom come with a "rom control"app (interface) and .zip in the link bellow come with "rom control" app thin it is not compatible. One cool feature is it adds "multiple user" in setting.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/themes-apps/utility-rom-control-note-4-stock-roms-t3586944
These n910f worked for me and has the advantage of separate .zips moding specific parts but warn that one of these .zip in the link , I believe its the "settings theme" .zip when flashed removes "hotspot" from the settings. Just 6.0mm zips are compatible on dq15 n010p.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/themes-apps/theme-customize-galaxy-note-4-n910f-t3017621
The GRX is one of my favorites for stockish roms. It can be compatible with custom roms but its a complicated process. Im guessing it should work with the N7 hybrid rom. Its relatively easy and offers nice smooth customizations. Its a good idea to chech the setting of both settem and "setting GRX" as to avoid conflict. If you find it on XDA even better. For me, I find it to be the best thing on 6.0mm.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/androidfit.com/grx-touchwiz-mod-v8-apk-for-any-samsung/amp
And the PK1 hotspot mod will work as long as the hotspot is in the main settings.

Good luck to you and your grandson rooting and moding.

And the PK1 hotspot mod will work as long as the hotspot is in the main settings.

If you install Busybox with the N7 hybrid kernel I offer a suggestion.
Busybox by Stephen (Stericson)
I never installed the Dr. Ketan rom but I did look at the Touchwiz launcher provided in the .zip and it is a MM. Dont know why you got FC's . Most likely its our latest firmware that to blame.
Wish I could remember what it was I flashed to get that in my settings as I think I remember you wanted that feature.
