Hell yeah. That looks really sleek. Can’t wait to get mine on Monday. Still debating on whether to keep it or ceramic white though.

I have no pics yet, but mine s10+ 10 years edition arrived yesterday, 1tb rom, and a whopping 12gb ram..i think i stick with this one for 1 year??

Show Off Pixel 2 XL

Just got my phone and I'll be around my iPhone toting in-laws later today. What apps/features do you use to highlight/show off your phones awesomeness?
Just take some pics and squeeze it a few times they'll be real jealous.

Screen saturation not balanced

Hi there ,
I've got a new redmi note 5 pro yesterday. Took a day to set it up and transfer all the data. My previous phone is redmi note 3 and I find it's display way more balanced than the note 5 pro. Particularly the greens are very dull.
Is that just me ? Should I have to run to the service center?
Thanks in advance
Same here.... I thought I was the one having this problem.
Whatsapp chats look very bland. Overall it ain't nice.
Ya whatsapp green is not dark

Not only whatsapp green or facebook blue every color is bland. Will post a pic of redmi note 3 and note 5 pro side by side. It's pathetic.
I have a RN 3 Pro, RN 4x and a relatively new RN 4 (SD 625).
The Screen of the RN 4 is much worse than the first two devices. Xiaomis new Displays aren't as good nowadays on their budget midrangers.
If you compare recent youtube comparisons, you will see, that the new RN 5 Pro screen seems be even worse, but a Software update could probably fix this.
Check this video out and look for the color reproduction, especially the green colors.

I checked in the display settings and saw something as "Contrast And Colors"
All the settings provided doesn't do much difference. Assuming either display unit is flawed or some adjustment has to be done in the software

I don't think it's flawed. It might be a more softwarish issue than hardware. Hope Xiomi corrects it with a update ASAP.
Meanwhile must search for a workaround.

Yep. Let's wait and see
Use standard setting it better
Same issue for me too. Green is not solid green. Blue is not solid blue. Looks so dull.
I personally experienced it too when i played games and watching videos, color saturation seems washed out in some games like in PUBG the grass and trees looks dull and sometimes i cant see my friend, i can only see the name running around.
Has there been any update on this? I got the phone yesterday and like you all noticed how desaturated the screen appears compared to my old Elephone P9000. Is this a white balance issue or what? Clash of Clans seems like it's got a opacity filter over it.
honestly I got my device yesterday and I thought the same. but after using it all the time .. I just don't see it any more, it looks fine to me now. I don't have my redmi note 3 anymore for a comparison. I still hope there will be custom kernels soon with color calibration like on radon.
Same problem noticed here - had old Redmi Note 3 side by side with the 5 - white is so much whiter on the Note 3!! Looks like a step backwards.
It's not the display it is the software. I had redmi 4prime when i shifted to Note 5 Ai, both Indian and International version believed
to have same display, i immediately noticed faded green and yellow colors. Not only the colors, but also at 40pc redmi 4 prime was way brighter than Note 5 AI at 70 pc brightness. I was so disappointed then I decided to try LOS 15 and immediately it fixes the whole problem. Not only it was brighter, just like redmi 4 prime, but also it fixes its colour contrast. However, later I rolled back to Miui 9 since Los wasn't stable enough and it had many bugs. Now I am counting on Miui 10 hope it would fix the bugs.
I am also a bit disappointed with the colour reproduction. First I thought it is pleasant to the eye, but after some time now I feel it's a little dull.
Huge color problem in Redmi note 5 pro. But if I switch to second space then Colors are amazing but If I switch to first space then Colors become to bland.
Guys any solution for this?
Please help
What ?????

Ok..... I hope some if not all of you can start to post homescreen pics right here.... let's see what you are talking about...
I going to post a few... and you tell me if you think these are really dull... IMO... They look fine to my eye considering this is not a SuperAmoled screen..
I can't wait to see what your devices are producing.. I would not want my colors any more saturated than this.
That's a reproduction of the signal not a reproduction of the actual screen.

OEMs for the displays...

has any info leaked out on who is making the screens for the pixel 3 and pixel 3 xl? last year wasn't it LG for the XL and Samsung for the pixel 2? does that trend continue this year? I know LG needs to step up their game on many fronts for the mobile displays, especially OLED tech, but wondering if Samsung is making either display for the Pixels. the power consumption for Samsung OLED is great and less likely to burn in.
Lg again... Apparently
Where do you get apparently from? Many reasons Google should go for Samsung on the XL version but corporations and their pennies. If I had image retention right after I bought the phone, especially not using high brightness often, I would not be a returning customer. LG LCDs apparently are very bad too. You should see the ridiculous burn in and image retention on the V20. That kind of IR is hard to do with LCD but apparently LG aced it.

Nobody does tbh, but looks like pixel 2 and 3 are exact same sizes, so my bet is definitely on LG again, posted a link for u, dont take anything for granted
I honestly don't think Samsung has time right now to build another screen for another phone. They are building s9, s9+, note 9 and all the iPhone screens right now. I'm not sure they can throw a pixel device into the mix now. I'd be willing to bet they are behind right now on screens

Samsung is an absolutely super mega insanely massive company. I'm sure they have the resources to make screens for their phones plus many others.
techradar was one site that reported that the pixel 3xl would have an lg screen. That is an old rumor, haven't heard otherwise though. I'm betting it will be a good one who ever makes it. We'll know soon.

its going to have to be good after last year lol
They said in the event that the screen would self-optimize for better viewing at all angles. Some other thing they said about it too. Hoping that means the screen will be a lot better than the 2 xl.
The Verge confirms it has a diamond PenTile subpixel arrangement. No word on manufacturer yet.

Interesting that Anandtech has the screens listed as AMOLED on the small one and P-OLED on the large one. This seems like last year but I'm wondering if Anandtech didn't just assume this.

You are correct. The smaller pixel 3 does not have the shift. It funny how everyone who says the PXL3 does not have the shift is not angling the phone while on a screen with a white background so you can check the blue shift !! Thats the most telling way to see the blue.
There was no shift so how do you know there's still a problem?

so far from the comments about this phone , people usually say " this is the best phone i have ever had" , one thing i wanna ask about is how is the clarity and resolution compared to samsung 2k note etc, do you see any pixelation or whatsoever ?

I like the whites much better on this panel as well. The Samsung's panels were slightly pink when cool and yellow when warm. Especially that they have now implemented 30% less blue light filter .

ok great. you can use nova launcher with no issues since you are on the global version right ? ever tried to change the dpi or is it even possible ?
this is the only phone on the market that attracts me and makes me wanna leave my note 5 specially this year with all the new phones all seem disappointing and nothing worth buying or spending too much like the note 10+ or even the new iphone pro LOL. so i am actually fine with my note if i wouldnt be getting the mate 20x so in your opinion, is it worth spending 600 euro on it ?

The evr-l29 that I have can utilize launchers , I tried it and it works. Evie launcher and Microsoft launcher.
I haven't changed the dpi, just the resolution , I set it to 1080p all the time.
If you're happy with the note 5 then keep it, however if your itching for a change then by all means go for the 20X. BTW, what country will you be using this device? I don't think you're in Europe since the note 5 wasn't sold there.

thats good to know, but how terrible is the huawie launcher as in customizability as from the forum people seem to really hate on it quite a bit?!
i would definitely set it at max resultion for sure all the time. i change the dpi on my note to get more into my screen.
to be honest my note now has a few issues ( fingerprint reader is dead, the pen is stuck most time, and the lag starting to show quite often with screen freeze and am still on nougat lol ) but the main reason for wanting this phone bc it fits my design aspects and an all around winner ( I am an architect ) so the ginormous display yet fits in my big hands ( i made a dummy ) , Flat display ( no useless curves ) ,symmetry matters to me, the loud speakers, getting the wide lens , sure faster than my note , the IR blaster , the physical fingerprint reader ( i believe the under display ones arent good enough yet ) and its not as mad expensive as other phones, plus has an mpen thats a normal sized pen,i dont care if it doesnt go into the phone etc. so from all that sounds like the perfect phone but am just being cautious with my interest due to the google ban bc i do like to keep my phones for a long period of time etc.
Am currently in egypt and soon will relocate to germany and i bought my note 5 from saudi as i was working there.

I just checked the dpi setting under developer menu and I changed it to a higher value. Menu items etc became smaller as they do but the icons on the home screen appeared to be the same I think. I am actually the opposite I have mine set large so my current dpi don't laugh is 360dpi.
I definitely like the flat large screen and its size, although like everything in life it has its downside being this device is definitely a two handed affair.
I normally stick to stock launchers on my devices, I haven't noticed anything too bad about the stock Huawei launcher to be honest. It reminds me of iOS. The only thing that I don't like is the when I press and hold an icon I am not presented with options like app settings etc like the Samsung when hold icon. On this device when you press and hold icon , you are presented with less app options than on a Samsung. To get further information one has to drive through the menu system for that particular app.
I think the choices for you are the global version of either western Europe c434 I think it is or C185 UAE which is the one I have. From my initial research some region versions don't fully utilize network options depending on what country sim card you may be using. Example I don't have a volte toggle on my device using it on T-Mobile USA.

Nothing to laugh about man, my note comes set at 411 ppi and i was asking about the dpi bcuz i seen some say that it reverts back once you restart your phone which is kinda stupid if true.
I set my note at 599 ppi which is the max i can ever go to before tablet ppi which makes some apps not so good like facebook etc
i dont mind stock launcher either, i do have an ipad pro and i dont mind it at all ( actually i believe it saves my time so i dont keep changing things around lol )
i like nova bc i can do whatever i want and i like to have a much bigger grid than only 5 columns and 6 rows and i dont know if i can use iconpacks on huawie launcher so yup.
my fav option so far is from amazon uk ( am hoping it gets discounted more with the launch of the mate 30 series so by the time my wife is coming i could get a good deal ) and i believe its the global model uk version.
my note 5 worked well in saudi and same in egypt, also in romania and istanbul when i was there for a short visit , so i dont think i would have any major issues network wise .

That article was most interesting. My favourite bits... none of which I intend to agree with. Although a ppi boost would have been nice. None of those strip down videos or webpages mention who makes the panel either.
