AT&T OTA and Non-OTA Updates G975U - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Guides, News, & Discussion

See Post #2 for the Link to Odin Files
It doesn't appear that Firmware.Science is updating their site any longer. I'm removing the link since it's useless to us now. I'll continue to try and get the Odin files as they drop and add them to post #2 for everyone
Understanding the Firmware labels
Here's a better understanding of how these are broken down
G=Galaxy S series
975U or F etc, the model of device
SQ, FX etc = CPU and model specific
U,S,E = Update, Security, Engineering, respectively
1,2,3,4,5 etc = bootloader rev(this is important!)
A = Pie rev 1(This starts off with "A" as the build that is the initially shipped on the device. S10 series is Pie)
(If you ever see a build that contains a "Z" such as this: U5ZSBA, that means the build is part of Samsung's Official Beta program. The "Z" in this context replaces the Android Version letter which hides what OS it actually is.)
R,S,T = Year (R is 2018, S is 2019, T will be 2020)
A,B,C etc = month (January A - December L).
1 - 9 and then A - Z =build compilation. This basically means how many builds there are in a month. They start at 1 and go to Z.
So G975USQU1ASBA would be
G975-U-SQ-U-1-A-S-B-A
G975U (Galaxy S10+ Carrier version), SQ (Snapdragon), U (Update), 1 (Bootloader version), A (Build Pie), S (2019), B (February), A (Build)
**You CANNOT downgrade to a lower Bootloader. So if you are on a Bootloader 2 rom, you can not go to a Bootloader 1 rom.

I think it can also help to go into recovery and do a couple factory resets before flashing a Firmware.

Might need this one too, you never know

How come when I check for an update it's says I'm up to date but I have build ASAT?

They can roll them out in waves. You can try to clear cache and data in the Software Update app

It should typically not take TOO long. I would recommend a reset if you're having issues

I do not know what changed..... I can't find the changelog. I'm with AT&T still on Feb, 1st Security patch as well.. Anybody know what has changed????

Not if you've flashed G975U1UEU1ASBA, that is a Unlocked Firmware. G975USQU1ASBA is the Carrier version and you would get OTA (AT&T/Spr/T-Mo/AZW)

I had read that, aside from the basic security patch, they made some improvements to the fingerprint scanner (and I'll have to go look for what else, I dont remember right now)

With my unlocked phone will there be any issues if I download and flash the G975USQU1ASBA version?
Thanks

They made some tweaks to the camera to improve quality too.

ARGGG! Thought I might have included the front camera ring notifications simpler than the APK on the Play store.

If you've got an AT&T SIM, then there should be no issues at all. You will get the AT&T bloat, but you can disable it and you will also get the "features" like Wi-Fi calling...

Yes, exactly. There is a performance issue with the Gear VR and Lollipop and NK3 is required for the Gear VR, it won't work with N910AUCU1ANIE. That would be excellent if you could.

New Security Patch Today

Just checked for AT&T updates a few minutes ago on my Note5 and low and behold a new security patch update is available for the phone. It is a 77.77mb file. My current patch level is 2016-02-01 . . . It auto downloaded but gave me the option to hold off on the install until a later time and I did not install it. Does anyone have any information about this new security patch?

Sorry!
I just completed the install. It updated with a new baseband and build as follows:
Security Patch Level = 2016-05-01
Baseband = N920AUCS2APE3
Kernel (unchanged) = 3.10.61-7085450
Build Number = LMY47X.N920AUCS2APE3
Interesting... I wonder if the pressure from the FCC forced them to release this update? Doesn't make sense with their Marshmallow build OTA being developed as a PB2 to PE# convention...

So the security patch is still a month behind BPE6, which is June 1.
I wonder if those of us on BPE5 or BPE6 will have to revert to APE3 in order to get future OTA releases of 6.0.1.
And I'm curious what happens if we're on BPE5 or BPE6 and check for an OTA update now (I can't check for another several hours). Does it get confused, or does it just say we're still up-to-date?

Today's OTA is APB2-to-APE3.
So downloading that would be the same as waiting for the ota to come out?
I've tried to install it twice but after my phone restarts it comes up with a message that the install was interrupted. So I don't know what's going on with this update as I'm on a good wifi connection.

Updated: Get your milk ready for official Oreo release (later)

4/23/2018 Update:
Seems Big Red made a big snafu in their announcement on their update page about the latest OTA being an Oreo update. Whoops!
http://www.androidguys.com/2018/04/2...alaxy-s7-oreo/
Also, they have fixed their software update page and removed all references to Oreo from the latest OTA:
https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/samsung-galaxy-s7-update/
It looks like we'll be seeing it before the end of May possibly:
https://androidcommunity.com/samsun...0-oreo-update-coming-in-a-few-weeks-20180424/
=========================================
Per Android Community, the finishing touches are being done on Oreo for the S7 family which includes those of us on Verizon's version of the phone as well as unlocked phones.
No firm date has been set yet, but it could be any day now.
https://androidcommunity.com/samsung-galaxy-s7-s7-edge-to-receive-android-8-0-oreo-update-20180418/
Per SamMobile, the US variants have been certified with Oreo.
https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-s7-oreo-update-inches-closer
For many, this may not be a big deal, especially if you root and flash. But for those of us that have no need to root and flash custom ROMs, this is big news. But sadly, it probably also marks the last official upgrade for the S7s. We'll probably get one more year of security updates and then we're on our own at that point.
FYI: https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/samsung-galaxy-s7-update,
the update hasn't been release just yet

Yes, there has been some misunderstanding at Verizon. The changelog for the BRC3 says Oreo and lists all the features but it's actually still Nougat OS. Can you share the screenshot from your device of the software info screen showing the Android OS and build no. both?

I definitely had an update applied in last two days at least that is BRC3 so looks like wrong changelog. Verizon support is clueless but is forwarding it to their IT team supposedly..
Edit: Also they mention April 1st security patch in Oreo/BRC3 changelog, I do have that as well but I think those can be pushed without OS update. None of the Oreo features are anywhere to be found though and still 7.0 according to about this phone.
or maybe its a multi-stage update.
an update to prepare for the update.

Hello guys, in advance I apologize for my ignorance, but I have my cell in this version: G928AUCU1AOGG, that is, it has never been updated. This method serves me or should I first upload to a different version?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

This is full firmware, you can flash it with Odin
Might add to use Odin version 3.12
Is there any way to root 7.0?
Thank you so much for this post.
Last month I did the update following your instructions and I did not have any problems.
Now the life time of the battery is almost tripled and applications run much better.
Make a change to the WiFi configuration, so that it will not be disconnected every time the screen is blocked.
In general, the performance of the equipment increased considerably.
Again thank you very much.

Dear sir please tell me can I flash Indian firmware on it ?

Downgrade Security version

Guys, currently I'm on October 1st, 2018 Security Patch. I have the system image of April 1st, 2018 for flashing through fastboot, both android 8.0.0.
If I flash it, will my phone get stuck in bootloop or will it work?
My last phone got hardbricked because I unintentionally flashed android 6 Marshmallow after updating to Nougat, so now I'm afraid of hardbricking my new smartphone just because of the security patch.
Please someone give me an advise. (If there would be a link for a system image of october 2018 I'd appreciate haha)
My device was on Oct security before I unlocked it, I am now on the stock April patch firmware with no issues. However, I wish to relock my bootloader now and this is not possible because there is no later firmware than April available. When trying to lock, it fails with security downgrade.

Thanks for your feedback, however there IS a later firmware, more precisely the October firmware.
Thanks to @Junior Passos for this: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=11410932744536987421

Please, do it at your own risk. I just shared the link, credits go to Junior. If you care about the file's source, this is the link:

Should be fine, I am on OPSS27.76-12-25 which is April. The October patch was on my device before unlocked.
Although there is an extra S in this one. Mine is OPS27.
Could you show where the junior shared the link?.

Sorry, he didn't share on the forum yet, however it's in his afh. He took from the last link I shared here.
If you pay attention to the image below, which is my smartphone settings, the version has 2 "S", and it's the stock one. I've never unlocked this phone. So it's okay, the october patch has the second S.

I see, so the other S could be something with the new security patch. Unless we have different Z2p. Mine is UK one, but I am sure I read somewhere that there is only one line of firmware for this device, unlike my G5 plus before this that had several versions of the G5 plus.
Yours is Brazil retail mine is Vodafone UK which is a different software Chanel. But the device is same I am sure.
