Android 9 Pie / LOS 16? - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Any chance we'll see LOS 16 or other ASOP Pie 9 ports to Galaxy Tab S? I have unofficial LOS 16 on my 2013 Nexus 7 tablet and it works quite well.

To get Pie, someone (read - me) should invest 2-3 months of spare time to make it production. The team is basically silent, and I am more concerned about my paid job and keeping N security up-to-date. I am also building 16.0 internally but it is not even alpha for me (like, not completing boot on chagalllte)

Anyway to help out ?
I've just put Exynos5420 LineageOS 14.1 vanilla onto a tablet.
Also just setup a build environment, grabbed the Exynos5420 git repo's source code and built successfully the cm-14.1 branch.

LineageOS FAQ
Why did Cyanogenmod end?
This statement from the CyanogenMod team explains where the company is headed from here. As far as why they has to discontinue Cyanogenmod:
The company is downsizing and will focus on a new project (the “Cyanogen Modular OS” program), and they are merely cutting off services that they believe they can no longer maintain. As a part of their consolidation, the company announced that many of their employees, including Cyanogen (Steve Kondik) himself, would part ways with the company.

What about nightlies?
As of 12.13.16 all cyanogen nightlies will no longer be supported.
As part of the ongoing consolidation of Cyanogen, all services and Cyanogen-supported nightly builds will be discontinued no later than 12/31/16. The open source project and source code will remain available for anyone who wants to build CyanogenMod personally.

What is LineageOS?
LineageOS is the successor to the popular CyanogenMod ROM. With an emphasis on openness, community development, and improvement of the stock Android experience, CyanogenMod supported dozens of devices officially with nightly updates, and unofficially, by the efforts of developers in the community, dozens more devices. LineageOS intends to pick up where CyanogenMod left off, but with a redoubled focus on being a grassroots community-focused development effort.
Where can I find LineageOS Builds?
We have not started doing official builds yet. One of the benefits of this being an open source project is that anyone can build it, but please be careful flashing builds you’ve downloaded from other sources. We will have some more information on when weeklies (or possibly nightlies) will be starting soon.

When builds of LineageOS start to show up, you can expect them to pick up right where Cyanogenmod left off and be nearly identical to the latest CM builds.
How can I participate?
LineageOS is looking for people to build slaves and build mirrors. If you have hosting resources that meet these requirements, then you can contact them here.
I will be updating this FAQ as more information comes out about LineageOS.
I loved cyanogenmod, i hope lineageOS keeps up cheers ! waiting for a build for Oneplus 3
So this may sound terrible dumb but I didn't find a clear answer around here, is Lineage based on 7.0?

CAF ROMs have nothing to do with Cyanogen Inc. Anyone can build their own ROM using CAF (Code Aurora Forum) which is led by Qualcomm.

Not yet, but it will be sooner or later. Mostly waiting for proper infrastructure for build servers.

Well :good:
there are so many unofficial lineageOS and cm, so which UNOFFICIAL lineageOS can we use among them as official rom?
i'm disappointed because the redmi 2 and the redmi 1 have roms before de mi3 i mean.... come on..
also still the same ui as cm14 the only new is the logo. well like shibba quote me in the lineage page.
I understand this disappointment which is because of too much of expectation from LineageOS. You need to understand that hundreds and thousands of developers are working on LineageOS to make it up and running even compromising their Christmas and New year celebration for this year just to make all of us happy.
Rebranding CyanogenMod to LineageOS is important. At this point of time it is necessary to make the infrastructure stable and hence most of them will be concentrating on that part while other individual developers contributing to the device tree they support which is eventually slowing the overall development process of LineageOS as a whole.
For now yes it will be no different to CyanogenMod but eventually you will get new features added to it. I hope you understand the complete picture.

You have to read more I guess.
CyanogenMod 13 Official = Android 6 rom supported by cyanogenmod (Lineage now) and receiving nightly via ota, directly from them.
LineageOS 14.1 Unofficial= Android 7.1.1. supporting by developers here in XDA merget by the code same as official versions.
Theres two different versions of android. It's unofficial when its not realised by lineageOS team.Anyway a lot of devs here making unofficial builds which are very stable as daily drive. When come official builds again u will be able to recive them over OTA.

I can't try as preformance, battery drive because is probably for not my device BUT. I would say yes, for me personally CM/LineageOS official or unofficial is much better than cm 13. Better battery life and preformance. Yeah, well Facebook is little bit buggy but I guess need time to be optimized for Android 7.

Cyanogenmod14 vs lineageOS14 (both of them are UNOFFICIAL builds)
Wich one is better than other one between those?
Or are both of them 100% similar?
Bugs are normal in testing roms

LineageOS community build ROM for OnePlus 5T ?

Why official LineageOS community don't build ROM for OnePlus 5T ?
It is some thing wrong on OnePlus 5T hardware driver ?
Until the unofficial builds have everything worked out it will not go official. Second they are only building Oreo builds at the moment, and there are no Official LOS 15 builds at all at the moment. So if you want an official Lineage build, someone needs to start building a 14.1 build for dumpling. Which honestly in my opinion would be a good thing, as many features are still missing for 15.1.
So:
1. There are no official builds for LOS 15.1 yet for any device.
2. The unofficial builds are not bug free, so they would not meet official build standards yet.
You have to wait. Give it time.
You can watch developers' progress on 15.1 for the OP5T here:
https://github.com/LineageOS/android_device_oneplus_dumpling
But notice, the last commit was 6 days ago, and compared to the OP5, it has a long way to go:

A note by @wileyc
These builds are created every Saturday night from a 100% unaltered LineageOS repository, which is synchronized with upstream every day. I must stress that there are NO MODIFICATIONS at all; if it worked/didn't work in the last official Cyanogenmod/LineageOS releases, it works/doesn't work in my builds. At Apple we called these "sustaining builds" -- they keep devices in sync with the latest security patches, but receive no new features.
with android 16.0 a device as with 2gb ram started hanging. Even with the These Zram Compression Tweaks , this device still wasn't performing optimally. Wiley already creating ROMs for many other lineageOs devices for prior generations. So I, had asked him for same if that can be done with HONOR 5x also. And he did that. And as from community i am very thankful to him.
Notes: This flashing procedure is same. If you are coming from any other ROM clean flash is needed. And obvisouly latest gapps.
Please do not ask anything in official to official lineageOs thread. And neither do I or Wiley will be looking at any error. These are builds are coming directly from lineageOs sources.

Unofficial Lineage 16.0 for Samsung Galaxy S10+ (Exynos)

Hi!
I have been looking some time for a Lineage 16.0 device tree to build Lineage 16.0 to this phone and as I forked the 17.1 repo made by whatawurst I started to change it accordingly and the reason for it is that I intend to build libhybris with Lineage 16.0 as a base since there's no hybris-17.1....... YET (It's coming though).... to it so that I may boot Sailfish OS as well.
I had to change the standard local manifest and make my own repos for obvious reasons.
Now here's the fun part.
I extracted the blobs from the phone and put them in my vendor repo and synced without a problem.
I then ran source build/envsetup.sh && lunch lineage_beyond2lte-userdebug and it worked OK.
As I started to build Lineage I got an error about a missing ril file and YES I suspect that it's missing a lot more files as well.
I have no clue why ./extract-files.sh in /android/lineage/device/samsung/beyond2lte looked for files that aren't in the stock vendor directory.
I guess it differs from Lineage version to another.
I also know that Lineage 16.0 won't boot on a Q bootloader, but I don't intend to boot Lineage after it's built.
I'd appreciate if someone here would be kind enough to help me fix any missing files so that Lineage 16.0 will build.
When I can confirm that it builds I'll start to try: https://github.com/mer-hybris/hybris-patches/tree/hybris-16.0

Port new lineage os to mako(LG Nexus 4)

Hi. I want to try to build lineage os 17/18 for my old phone. I have env and I already build package for other phone. For Nexus 4 there and only some old lineage os 15 builds. How to prepare lineage os 18 based on lineage os 15? Is it possible or maybe it needs to be done from scratch. Is there any instruction how to do this?
Porting a ROM means there's a similar device with a working LineageOS on it. Which means it's already built, and only small modifications to make it stable for you.
Porting doesn't work the way you described. You can't build Android 12 on top of Android 8, every new major Android update, Google releases a new source code.
Then, manufacturers/developers modify it to their sweets. What you want to do is to build LineageOS 18/17 for an unsupported device. There's a lot of guides online about it. The context matters.
Can you share some links about building lineage os for unsupported devices? Will it help somehow when there are some old versions builds?
