[Tool] Frija - Samsung firmware downloader/checker - Samsung Galaxy S10+ Guides, News, & Discussion

* * * PLEASE UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE INSTALLING TO YOUR DEVICES AT ALL TIMES AND ME AND THE DEVELOPER ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY SORT OF DAMAGE TO YOUR DEVICE * * *
Hey Guys
Frija is a new tool (successor of now depreciated tool SamFirm) which allows users to download latest firmware for their device which can be flashed with Odin.
Frija can download Firmware for any Samsung Devices at High Speed.
Auto mode detects any Samsung Phone Model and CSC and finds all the required information directly from Samsung Server.
Frija downloads firmware directly from Samsung FUS (Firmware Update Server) without any third party websites being involved. It can pause/resume firmware downloads, even after network interruption, or app restart (if download was interrupted).
Frija comes with built in Support form, through which you can reach out to developer about any issues or bugs. Frija has built in App Updater, whenever new release of Frija is available users will be able to update to latest version of the app.
Frija does not have any Background or Startup services, which some users might be concerned about.
It also comes with Night theme, for those who prefer Night Mode on the app

Fun fact about Frija: Frija is named after wife of Odin who can see future (In Norse Mythology) can download latest firmwares which can be flashed using Odin which uses Heimdall (A protocol that connects to a mobile device over USB) and Loke (low-level software running on the device). It kinda added a missing piece to the naming convention Samsung has.
This tool was created by wssyncmldm with contribution from CrazyApe and eragon5779. Devs receive all the support message directly and they are actively working on the app to fix any bugs or issue.

Will there be a linux build or is it windows only?
Also it would be nice to have the sources available to audit the code and make sure it does no nasty stuff.

For now the software is for Windows only. As for now the developer doesn't have any plans to release the code to the public.

I have been a long time user of SamFirm, it was always the best way to get firmware as soon as it is avaialble. I really appreciate your work on this project. I tested it out for myself and it works Great! Thanks!!!

That's sad to hear. I''m not willing to setup a windows installation somewhere just to run some closed source code. Opening the source would make it possible for others to port the code to linux or at least have a look at it and audit it. Not only for security concerns but also to hunt bugs and report them. I'm really uncomfortable running closed source software from a random guy on some random internet forum.

Looks cool! I would prefer it to run on my Chromebook... someday. Cheers

Making source open is not going to help someone port it, since it uses 3 libraries made by Samsung to get info about download link and download the firmware which are only available for windows

I'm also a Linux user. I do have Windows on one of my partitions, but I'll have to wait for more users to report on Frija before I trust it enough to run it. With that said, I appreciate the effort and the work put into developing a useful program like that, and I hope its developers don't take my distrust as an insult.

Virustotal report for the zip

I used it yesterday to download the Odin package for my s10 plus. Worked liked a champ. Thanks!
Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

OK when its finish the download i cannot find the zip file in the PC i choose other location and same problem

Will this trip nox or is it just a quicker way to get updates before the OTA release?

As it is downloading original, Stock Firmware, it will not trip KNOX.

Thanks for developing this tool, but sorry I got this error "frija has stopped working", I installed "c ++ 2008, c ++ 2010 and dotnet 4.5" is there anything I lack?

I use windown 7 64b, configure the machine, intel core i3, 3320 3.3ghz, ram 8gb, and SSD for windown drive, and 4t for storage, I use the samfirm completely normal, is there any problem here ?

Its probably me not doing something right. But Frija does not recognize my phone. Does it need to be in recovery? Debug mode etc?

This tool is great I typed in my model number gm-975F then the CSC that I wanted ( I found an online list of them by googling it.) Then bam it downloaded the fw file really fast over 120mbit down. I love the tool thank you so much

it's for those who use korean models, but if e980 is KDZ-compatible with korean SKT/KT models, then this will work. if not, this will not work with yours.
Nice work mate. Good luck with the development of the ROM. I like how you have covered everything and used diagrams, almost like a school project
Perfect OP, just for that Thank You very much!!! Hopefully soon it will be compatible with the att e980.

Great rom, but does it allow auto update to 4.3 or 4.4 when they are released later?
Is there a modified LG g2 camera apk to install with this or in general?

if you mean the ota update, no, gomdolight deletes all components related to during its installation process. this is because an ota update on a custom rom is likely to break the system down (probably not being able to boot). the only way to update/upgrade the base firmware is via your pc (lg mobile support tool, or kdz flasher)
however, i plan to create a twitter account, and post update information on there. update notices will be in english too (as well as korean) so you can know when the rom is updated.

not as i know. and if you want a high quality picture, you should get a g2, since that is a hardware difference which cannot be compensated merely by a camera app.
Still reading your instruction... but I have to write a quick comment: " Thank you very much about your sharing ".

[Release] JOdin3 CASUAL Cross Platform and Web-Based Flashing For Samsung Phones

JOdin3 Web Browser Based and Offline flashing tool
This is the official support page for JOdin3, a CASUAL-X project. JOdin3 allows you to flash Odin files on Linux, Mac and Windows. It is powered by CASUAL and @Benjamin Dobell 's Heimdall tool. Using the power of CASUALcore, LibPit and Heimdall, it enables flashing of Odin files in the same manner you'd expect from the offical Samsung Odin tool.
Read more: http://casual-dev.com/2014/01/04/jodin3-web-browser-or-offline-flashing-tool/
Website: http://Jodin3.casual-dev.com
Download:http://goo.im/devs/AdamOutler/JOdin3
Never download from anywhere except the link above. I won't have the CASUAL name tarnished with malware. Also, verify that your download has the proper signatures with the "jar-signer -verify" command.
Easy flashing
We expect this to be relatively trouble-free. However, there are some stumbling blocks. First, JOdin3 requires a PIT file, which can be automatically obtained, but it requires a device reboot. Jodin3 will walk you through this process. On windows, drivers should be auto-installed. On Mac, Heimdall will be auto-installed. On debian-based Linux, Heimdall will be automatically installed and you will receive in-app instructions on all platforms.
With that said, 99.9999% of problems should be solvable with the simple troubleshooting guide below
Troubleshooting Guide
Mac: Visit the Heimdall Website and install the packages for your distribution, then reboot: http://glassechidna.com.au/heimdall/
Linux: Visit the Heimdall Website and install the packages for your distribution: http://glassechidna.com.au/heimdall/
Windows: Put your device into Download mode, install this driver and reboot. http://android-casual.googlecode.co...ALcore/src/CASUAL/resources/heimdall/CADI.exe

About
This is a CASUAL-X project. CASUAL-X projects are based on or around CASUAL but not part of the main stream. This CASUAL-X project will be updated alongside of CASUALcore and will be available as long as our servers can handle the load. You can read more about CASUAL at http://casual-dev.com

Greetings,
I haven't had a chance to use JOdin3 yet. I am super excited and hoping it will help get my bootloader unlocked. I was worried I wouldn't be able to get there after taking the Dec 20th OTA. The forums seemed pretty barren for those with bootloaders still locked =/. Plus, the Note 2 is old enough now that I am guessing support is falling off.
Just a two, hopefully helpful comments:
It appears the JOdin3 link on the bottom of the post on the homepage has a typo. It is currently "jodin.casual-dev.com" which 404s.
Another smaller but possibly still important issue is: the link on casual-dev.com to this post "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49133090" doesn't appear to be in an <a href> tag.
Thanks for all the hard work!
Edit: I tried to follow the youtube tutorial and JOdin seems to think my pit file is corrupt. I also tried to create a pit file manually using Heimdall and still had no luck. I suspect it is due to me having taken 4.3 OTA (I605VRUEMJ9). I was able to get root using safe root ("Based on the CVE-2013-6282 exploit by cubeundcube"), not sure if that helps. Also not sure if it's relevant but, while I can get recoveries installed but, on reboot phone complains and i have to flash stock to continue.
I had to lit. download odin for every flash... this should end the days for that. Great! thanks @AdamOutler and team. A compatible odin, I wonder how this works with models like galaxy wonder etc.
Thanks for your hard work. So is Odin opensource ? How did you accessed to download mode protocol ? Really interesting..
Hey guys, nice work. Now I once thought about something like that, too, but I had another idea: Maybe it would be somehow possible that you don't need to download a firmware but just paste a download link or something like that in jodin3 to flash it. Just a crazy idea
Gesendet von meinem SM-N9005 mit Tapatalk
I use a Mac and only heimdall is available on it. It was very difficult to use and odin was not compatible with it. But now with JOdin3, I can easily root and flash my devices. A huge thanks to all the developer team.

Many thanks for your continued efforts to make customizing and fixing phones THAT much better! Truly next level work. I've never had issues with regular Odin that wasn't my fault or the wrong download, but awesome that we have options like this to work across all the major platforms.

No way, but Heimdall is an >90% perfect implementation of download mode.
It also requires manually matching partition image filenames to partition IDs or (in the official GUI version) loading a package -- both require a little manual work to convert from Odin format: this tool is an alternative UI that does the conversion on the fly!
first of all HAPPY NEW YEAR TO @AdamOutler

Its exactly what it sounds like. You go to a website and flash your phone. If you want, you can download the app and use it like that.
The difference: This works on Windows, Linux and Mac. This works from a website or a download. This will auto-install drivers on all platforms except Mac ( @Benjamin Dobell needs a Mac Developer ID signer). This is a self-contained single-file executable. This provides better errors and will troubleshoot and fix problems for you. This is a single file rather than multiple ones. This provides way more detailed logs rather than a simple failure like Odin. And its open source.
Its not all roses though.. This can only flash a single device per-start-button-press and not 8 like Odin. Heimdall also has a problem with extremely large files like Note III system images.

What an accomplishment! Brilliant work guys!
As a Ubuntu-Linux user I was waiting for an easier solution for flashing our Samsungs. This will be awesome. Thank you for the fantastic work.
I have an updated Ubuntu system with:
java version "1.7.0_25"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.3.12) (7u25-2.3.12-4ubuntu3)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.7-b01, mixed mode)
But upon launching JOdin3 I get this message:
"This application requires a newer version of the Java runtime"
Is this a known problem?
(I'd prefer not to install the Oracle version ... if this is indeed a solution for this, hopefully temporary, problem)
Thank you so much.

May be let each other build separately. Still they are worth as we have two devs working on flyme. We can encourage both. Why not ? They working alone is it?

Oh no.. why u are worried of safetynet?
No problem in installing on L22. My observations are:
1. During first boot-
a) it used 25% of battery juice
b) enormous heating on back cover.
2. Now all Chinese apps are replaced with English Global apps.
App store - In english now
Theme app - does not show the images of wall-papers & themes.
Fonts - No fonts are available now.
3. Camera after effects are very good.
4. 2nd sim problem is sorted by taking the 1st sim out and in again.
5. additional setting for sim networks is working.
Though flyme tools 3.02 version did not worked for me (coz it requires xposed & I dont have that)
İnternational variant ?
---------- Post added at 09:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:52 PM ----------
Apparently you have flyme official. The standard is compiled as a variant of china in rum.

I'm also preparing for Android 9 here besides starting from Scratch. The new Patch will be universal again Thanks to AROMA, so no Device or OS Limits anymore. All in one Zip. You can check out My Git over this Link: https://github.com/Miustone/SOSP
Not much happend the last Time but this is to a lack of Android 9 on My XZ Premium. I'm currently working on a new AROMA and Updater Script which will be up soon. The rest comes when i get Android 9 :fingers-crossed:

Have you tried to reboot it with power button after flashing? I'm not sure if E5273T uses exactly the same hardware, can't guarantee that the firmware is compatible with that model.
I have just reflash the WebUI firmware and got it back to where it was. Thanks for your help. the reboot didn't help I don't think so perhaps not Compatible. Oh well.
Thanks for your help though

Maybe you should read readme?
For some reason this firmware does not expose /dev/ttyUSB0 device when connected to a router running Tomato and huawei ethernet driver. I flashed E5372_Update_21.290.17.00.1087/Update_WEBUI_17.100.05.01.1087 files (I can provide on request) and LTE (HiLink) mode started working fine, but I really miss the option for running without battery.
Is it possible to modify this firmware? Or fix lack of /dev/ttyUSB0?

I think this firmware version has different USB PID/VID which is not known by Tomato. Try to set "AT, Network" option in "USB Mode" screen in Advanced menu.

Try to select only one of the frequency bands in the web interface and see if that helps. If not, something is wrong with the hardware probably.
