I do not give stock ROM installed. - Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Questions & Answers

Hi! I am the owner of a Xiaomi Mi Max 3.
I tried to update it to a stable official ROM using Miflash, instead of checking the box flash_all I marked flash and lock. I blocked the bootloader.
The phone does not start, it only goes into the recovery mode and a message appears in red at the end of the recovery menu "this miui version can not be installed on this device"
(This version of MIUI can not be installed on this device)
I can not change the ROM using Miflash.
Can somebody help me?
Thanks greetings.

Hello
Yes there are other programs you can try and use: QUALCOMM / QFIL
I had a similar problem with a Lenovo Tab4 8 Plus (8704x) device and this QFIL program and the right ROM files solved the problem for me on that Lenovo tablet when it was hard bricked i.e only went into fastboot or recovery mode.
You need to find all the right version flashing files for your device before commencing, i.e you cannot downgrade a MIUI rom it has to be the same as what was / is on your device or an upgraded version. Unless your bootloader is unlocked :good:
https://en.miui.com/thread-432217-1-1.html
https://androidmtk.com/download-qualcomm-flash-image-loader-qfil
Also maybe you can try adb fastboot program if QFIL doesnt work
https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/how-to/tool-xiaomi-adb-fastboot-tools-t3887359
One last thing I remember is make sure your Xiaomi device is recognised by the computer in all modes if possible; fastboot, recovery for the ADB drivers or QFIL drivers to work properly. A pop up ballon bottom right PC screen will show if drivers are recognised and ready.
All the best with it

Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Fixed! Entering EDL mode and following these steps.

Can't flash fastboot developer MIUI 9 7.9.22 or MIUI 8 Global Stable 8.5.3.0 ROM

It is weird situation I cant flash any stock ROM even with unlocked bootloader. I've installed TWRP custom recovery and rooted succesfully all from fastboot but now I want to flash MIUI 9 developer 7.9.22 with latest MiFlash Tool and it wont do nothing. Device is recognised normally when "Refresh" button clicked, downloaded Fastboot ROM with .tgz and extracted it to PC put the ROM path in MiFlash and start flash but error occured something like "Cant find MIUI dir or something". I'm logged into MI account, and device is connected to Mi account in developer options, USB debugging is ON but nothing helps. I tried to update to MIUI 9 directly from updater app but it says "Verify failed, it's not allowed to flash rom between different android version". Instaled USB drivers and fastboot files so flashing custom recovery went fine. I'm running Global Stable 8.5.3.0 ROM Android 6.0 right now and tried to flash the same ROM from fastboot but also no luck. Any suggestions?
Mine did the same, are you sure your copying the correct path ?
I found you need to click the box of the folder on the top left twice to get the correct file path.
I dont understand what you mean? I'm giving correct path for sure.
As long as it starts C:\ then it's the right path.
It took me multiple attempts for it to work tho.
I'm on the beta rom.
Hmm, maybe you are right, I've extracted rom on partition D:, I'll try what you said.
Did you try this ?
I've extracted fastboot rom on C: and all works! Thank you all!

MIUI 10 Update from China 10.0.6.0 OEDCNFH to Global 10.0.1.0 OEDMIFH problems

Really need help!
I successfully unlocked my Mi Max 3 using the official process. 14 day wait. No issues...booted back into MIUI 10' restored backup from MiCloud and was back to normal, except now it showed "unlocked" on startup screen.
It was running CN MIUI 10 V10.0.6.0 OEDCNFH
I had been reading that it was possible to flash the device with the global version of the ROM
I had several Google related issues with the Chinese ROM so I downloaded the MiFlash tool (2018.5.28.0), got the ROM from here: https://xiaomifirmware.com/roms/latest-official-miui-roms-for-xiaomi-mi-max-3/
and tried to flash it with Global 10.0.1.0 OEDMIFH
Result was the error "flash crclist error"
screenshot here
https://1drv.ms/u/s!ArN9mSbbMVT8gohpA03ob7X2FhjspQ
After this, the device is stuck in Fastboot mode and seems to no longer have a bootable ROM. Booting into recovery mode with vol up + power and restarting that way also just boots back into Fastboot.
I downloaded the Fastboot version of the ROM the phone was originally running 10.0.6.0 OEDCNFH and tried to flash that.
It also failed with the same error.
This user had the same issue with a Mi8:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-8/help/failed-to-install-global-rom-via-mi-t3851636
The thread did not help me. There seems to be almost nothing related to this issue "flash crclist error" on XDA
My phone is not bootable now. No idea what to try next, I am a total novice in this area. I have since been reading about Anti Rollback Protection, I just don't know if this has anything to do with my issue. My device is not dead....it is booting into Fastboot, and I can still see it in MiFlash. If anyone could advise me I would be very grateful.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max-3/how-to/to-youre-stuck-edl-mode-black-screen-t3837846/page2
See my post there on page 2. It should fix your issue.
The path of the rom seems too long.
Create a new folder at the root of your C drive and give it a name without spaces, move all the contents of the extracted rom to that folder and try to flash again
opasha - thanks for reply

Hi and thank you for responding to my question.
I have tried the steps in your thread as follows:
1) Download Global Stable fastboot 10.0.1.0 from this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-...-t3827503/amp/
2) Open MiFlashTool and navigate to 10.0.1.0 fastboot rom. At the bottom select 'Clean All Only' (do NOT select clean all and lock).
3) Hold power, volume up and volume down together for 10 seconds after plugging into PC. Your pc should detect your phone in EDL mode. Hit REFRESH button at the top of MiFlashTool and it will show up as COM XX or XXX for your USB connection. Try whichever USB port works. Then hit refresh. Then click Flash.
When I try step 3, what you describe does not seem to be the behaviour I am seeing. If I hold volume up + volume down + power simultaneously for 10 seconds, the device reboots straight back into the Fastboot screen (the one with the bunny). Is this normal? If not, what screen should be displayed on the device? There is no sign of MiFlash tool detecting the device differently at this point (COM XX or XXX)
When I refresh MiFlash it detects the device as pictured:
https://1drv.ms/u/s!ArN9mSbbMVT8gpEJOYos6rGjNSM8vQ
If I flash it, it produces the same "flash crclist error" pictured here:
https://1drv.ms/u/s!ArN9mSbbMVT8gpEIec-cB8pUMAVqLg
FYI the only way I can get the device to start in anything other than the Fastboot screen is to hold down the VOLUME UP key + power. This boots it into the Mi-Recovery 3.0 screen where I can see the Main Menu with 3 buttons: Reboot - Wipe Data - Connect with MiAssistant
Reboot goes back to Fastboot
Wipe Data also just reboots into Fastboot.
Connect with MiAssistant prompts to connect to Mi PC suite with diagram of device + USB cable + URL (I tried this but PC suite (version 3.2.1.3111_2717) does not recognise my device....this was also the case when the phone was working normally). If I don't try to connect with USB cable at this point it times out after about 30 seconds and boots back into the Fastboot screen.
The remaining steps in your thread did not seem to apply after step 3 failed.
No idea what to do. I posted this on MIUI forums too. Some people are suggesting I use ADB and install TWRP but I would need an idiots guide, I don't have any experience with either and would have no idea what I was doing....and I'm finding it extremely difficult to unearth anything useful from the **vast** number of Android related sites and forums relating to ROMs etc. For example, I can't find anything helpful about "flash crclist error". Maybe I should ask Xiaomi support?
At this point I just need to get *any* working ROM onto the device. I would not have unlocked it and attempted the switch from Chinese to Global if I hadn't read so much advice that this could be done very simply and without issues as long as the bootloader was unlocked. If you have any other advice for me please let me know!
Thanks again.

Sorry, didn't realize this was new to you. Your fastboot mode is fine. Ignore my step 3 (my apologies for not clarifying since this step is not needed for you since your phone is in fastboot). All you need to do is have your phone flash this version of miui global through Miflash Tool. Let it reboot on its own.

I can not flash the ROM Global Stable fastboot 10.0.1.0 (or any other ROM I have tried)
In the MiFlash tool I get the error "flash crclist error" as I have tried to explain in my previous posts.

You're not extracting properly. Use 7zip. Then extract the folder and point Miflash to this extracted folder. - make sure inside this folder there are simply files and no other single folders - single folders within single folders usually means you have to extract again.
Just run the damn flash-all.bat for God sake...
SOLVED thank you!

You were right. I extracted using 7Zip instead of Winzip. Pointed MiFlash at the extracted folder. 10.0.1.0 Global flashed successfully.
**HUGE** thanks to you for your replies and help. Painful learning curve for me. Very happy to get my phone working again, this time with the ROM I wanted.
Thanks again

so im on the same version but xiaomi.eu... 10.0.6.0 can i go downgrade that global? using same method?
flashed over x.eu 10.0.6.0 with Global 10.0.1.0 using Miflash with fastboot rom, it rebooted into recovery screen saying "this version cannot be installed on this device"...at this point i started crying lol.
Plugged into mi suite to see if i could recover back to original china rom it shipped with, discovered the BL was locked again, unlocked again via mi tool and hey presto, it booted up with fully working Global rom!
I'm now in a good place.

International 6/128GB Version - fake unlocked Bootloader?

Hi!
I´m not new into flashing mobile phones, but with my new Mi Max 3 I´m not sure to do the right things.
I bought the 6Gb/128Gb Variant (so Chinese or international Version) and the Seller (from Gearvita) sent me the Phone with unlocked Bootloader and GlobalRom. It seems to be the official Global Rom, because there are normal OTA Updates from Xiaomi and they work.
I tried to flash TWRP via fastboot mostly for enabling Camer2Api and for changing the DPI with root-access, but there is no responding from the phone while Fastboot Mode
ADB Driver are installed, Developer Options and USB-Debugging are enabled. If I start the CMD or PowerShell it recognized "adb devices" as normal and with the command "fastboot bootloader" the phone goes into Fastbootmode, but then there is no reaction anymore to any command. "fastboot devices" says "no device found" , "flash recovery .img" says nothing or sometimes it says image "size too large"
So what is the best way to get a save unlocked bootloader official from Xiaomi? Mi Unlock Tool don´t recognize my phone, too :crying:
I know I should go back to normal Chinese Rom and locked bootloader, than unlock the bootloader official way and then flash GlobalRom and install TWRP, but how to get back to CN Rom without doing any mistakes?
I´m on latest 10.3.5.0 since yesterday - I hope there is no problem with ARB in that case.
Thanks in Advance
In the meantime I checked the fastboot behavior with an older Notebook (Windows 7) and now everything is working correctly.
I had to use adb sideload in TWRP and was able to install Magisk and Camera 2 API Enabler.
But I tried soooo many Driver Setups with Windows 10 and nothing was workling as it should
I´m not sure if I have still a fake unlocked bootloader, but everything is working for me now

Interesting. I have a somewhat similar experience. Got a China phone with global rom (4/64GB variant.) The phone updated to 10.3.5.
I immediately rooted it (using TWRP boot; did not flash TWRP - with a magisk Zip) an all seemed fine.
After your post I tried to test the process again - and to my greatest surprise
1. I see the phone with fastboot devices but
2. The same TWRP I booted in before (with the same software version) does not boot any more
I get an error message with adb and the phone reboots.
Not sure where to go from here...

Unbrick realme x

Hi it's me again
i've bicked my phone last week, it only shows the image of realme and then a text that says the boot/recovery image have been destroyed, the problem with this brick its THE BOOTLOADER ITS BLOCKED AND THE PHONE CANT START THE RECOVERY, so the options are pretty limited, plus my device is china version.
The things and tools that i've been trying are:
*ADB FASTBOOT (i know i already said that the bootloader it's blocked but i had to try)
*Qualcomm snapdragon flash tool QIFL
*Qualcomm premium tool
*XTM Inferno tool
*OPPO download tool
*MSMDownload tool
Yeah, i've tried a few things already (not too much to be honest), but with everyone theres a problem.
Adb dont recognice because its not in fastboot, QIFL needs a xml file but the roms don't have it, and i dont know how to program it, XTM inferno tool dont recognice the device, and oppo and msm download tool needs an account, if anyone knows what can i do now, please let me know, i'm a little bit sad cause i haven't made it to unbrick
So sad that you can't enter fastboot. It seems that means you can't send commands to your phone.
Recently, I saved my "soft brick" China version RMX. I also get "boot/recovery image have been destroyed" notification, but I can enter fastboot mode (power+Volume-), and my fastboot is unlocked. I used "fastboot flash recovery" cammand to flash TWRP and another command for vbmeta (https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...very-unofficial-twrp-realme-x-stable-t3959556). However, the response in "Windows Command Prompt" is "Failed unknown error".
So I decided to power off and charge my phone. After power off, there is thunder icon, a symbol for charging in powe off state, on the screen. Sunddenly, the phone boot into TWRP automaticly. I connected it to my laptop at once and find TWRP MTP service works which means I can copy the 2.6 GB stock Color OS zip (RMX1901CN_flashable_A17.zip, https://forum.xda-developers.com/realme-x/how-to/guide-to-stock-rom-stock-recovery-t3974607
, https://sourceforge.net/projects/rmx1901/files/custom_recovery_StockROM_flashable_files/) to internal storage (/sdcard), and I installed it successfully, though there was "Unmount to mount storage" error when I wiped Data in TWRP.
Reboot to system succesfully and showed Color OS setting guide, which showed at the first time you turn on the phone. Recovery changed to oppo stock Recovery, but the unlocked fastboot mode didn't change.
I am not sure wether the link is useful for cracked MSMDownload tool :https://www.techoxygen.com/msm-download-tool/

Flash official ofp format stock ROM in EDL mode might be helpful. The links offer ofp ROM, guide & password for download tool. An XDA post also mentioned this link. But I'm still confused about the difference between RMX1901 and RMX1901EX model. Some custom ROM is universal for India and China variant on XDA .

Hi dude, at this time I have not found a way to do it without realme tech support, or remote flash tool.
This device needs a “permission” of realme servers to get flashed. If your device is India version you can ask to boy cracker staff, if your device is China version maybe combine file staff can help.
If you have the option of send it to realme tech support, you should take it

Question no access to phone

when trying to install a new ROM, I completely locked out myself
- fastboot leads to (new ?) orange FASTBOOT screen but
- device will not be recognized via adb/fastboot
- TWRP leads to screen teamwin Recovery Project 3.7.0_12-0 and then goes into bootloop to the same screen
any ideas?
last thing I tried was changing the filesystem inside twrp

Would be nice if you can share a photo of the "new Fastboot screen".
You mean TWRP doesn't function properly?
Did Fastboot work before? What have you done exactly?
If you need more direct help I can give you my Telegram or Discord
It doesn't properly start. These are the pics of the three possibilities I have now.
Fastboot was working before.
Last thing before was the changing the filesystem to (i thing) ExFat

Orange fastboot is fastbootd, first somehow get your pc to recognise the phone , then to reboot to normal fastboot you gotta use "fastboot reboot bootloader"
From there miflash
Fastbootd can only flash certain partitions - if you run miflash from it , it'll fail I think

If the Windows installed drivers are the problem, this will fix it:
Boot Windows with Driver Signature Enforcement disabled by doing this:
Open Windows' Power Menu, and while holding SHIFT-key, click Restart.
Select "Startup Settings" > Restart.
Screenshot
Click 7 for Disable Driver Signature Enforcement.
Screenshot
Get Mi Flash, extract the folder, and run Mi Flash.
Click "Driver" in the top-bar and click Install.
Screenshot
After doing this, the drivers are correctly installed and Fastboot and ADB commands should work.
Then you can proceed to temporarily boot a TWRP or OrangeFox that actually works.
"fastboot boot twrp.img"
I recommend OrangeFox.
You can install a recovery with "Install RamDisk" (both have this option).
If you want to flash MIUI or a Custom ROM, flashing the Recovery-flashable ZIP for MIUI or for the Custom ROM, should suffice.
My problem is, that (even after new driver installation with Mi Flash) the PC doesn't recognise the Poco F3 (but recognises without any problem my old Mi Mix 3).
So I concluse that the problem is on Poco side but I have ho idea what I can do it the phone isn't recognised.

Does device show up in device manager ? Did you setup adb tools and issue "fastboot reboot bootloader" command ? If this doesn't work, what about "fastboot devices"
Come back when you do this , don't use mi flash untill you reboot phone into bootloader ( blue fastboot )
Maybe even check if adb commands work through twrp as a last resort ... "adb reboot bootloader"

Orange fastboot is fastbootd, first somehow get your pc to recognise the phone , then to reboot to normal fastboot you gotta use "fastboot reboot bootloader"
From there miflash
Fastbootd can only flash certain partitions - if you run miflash from it , it'll fail I think

The Orange Fastboot isnt fastbootd, its normal fastboot. The icon changed from the doll miui 12.5 to this orange fastboot on miui 13

My problem is, that (even after new driver installation with Mi Flash) the PC doesn't recognise the Poco F3 (but recognises without any problem my old Mi Mix 3).
So I concluse that the problem is on Poco side but I have ho idea what I can do it the phone isn't recognised.

Download mi unlock tool and run it. Click on the settings icon on the top right corner and download its drivers, it'll ask you to connect the phone to the pc. (connect it on fastboot mode)
If I connect the phone I get the message, that the usb-device isn't recognised, no problem with poco f1 and poco f3
mi unlock tool gives (also after driver installation) this

try changing the cable and also try changing the usb port on pc
if still no problems, then the phone port could be faulty
btw, i only meant to say is to download the drivers from mi unlock tool, after that, you can try and flash the stock rom in mi flash tool

Did you do my steps including the Driver Signature Enforcement part?
I'm asking because otherwise I'm out of ideas lol
Kinda fked up that Fastboot isn't working for you...
Since Recovery isn't booting for you. Only Fastboot may be your last chance. So try and see if it works with other PCs... other cables... whatever. You gotta make Fastboot to work.
