I'm following /e/ since few months now. I was pretty impressed with the developer. However I'm just not sure about the stability and ofcourse, by now Pie should have been released.

Pie is in the works, stability is relative & for me it has been stable enough (both Nougat & Oreo) that I use it (Oreo) as my main mobile OS.

Installation is similar to LineageOS & no Gapps are included because /e/ OS provides alternatives to Google helping you free yourself from data slavery.

So, to have access for play store, Gmail and google contacts, what to do after flashing the ROM zip?
Please provide the information in OP and link if possible.

There's an app store included as an alternative to play store or you can also install Aurora app store, to access Gmail you can login with your account in the preinstalled Mail app & similarly you can login with your Google account in the contacts app.
The install instructions:
1. Install latest stable firmware.
2. Install latest /e/ OS.
3. Boot into the OS.
After flashing /e/ OS you setup your device as usual with a few exceptions.

Does this ROM support sideloading of apps like google camera.

Last time I used I was not able to use applications like uber which is obvious(no play services). But I like the concept. Will be flashing it.

I think it might be because apps like Uber use Google Maps.

Just out of curioisity: why do you place a source build rom in the how-to forum instead of the development forum?
It's confusing according to: https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/thread-t3333345

Introduction
microG GmsCore is a FLOSS (Free/Libre Open Source Software) framework to allow applications designed for Google Play Services to run on systems, where Play Services is not available. If you use your phone without GAPPS this might become a useful tool for you.
microG GmsCore is one of the two core components of the microG project. His job is to replace the Gapps (you'll continue to use the PlayStore), thus giving you a longer battery life and performance without loss of resources.
This is not software developed by me, I'm just sharing the file.
Note: Only use crDroid 7.1 or Xposed (Use this module Fake Gapps and ignore item 3 on guide)
GUIDE – DO NOT INSTALL ANY GAPPS PACKAGE!
1. Install MicroG.zip via TWRP
2. Reboot system
3. Go to Settings:
→ crDroid Settings
→ Miscellaneous
→ Allow signature spoofing (Enable the option) (Look!)
4. Open the microG Settings
→ System grants signature spoofing permission (Enable the option) (Look!)
5. Close the app
6. Open PlayStore and add your account
7. Enjoy

i couldn't find any setting to restore my google contacts from the cloud, so to restore contacts i downloaded the vcf file from this page https://www.google.com/contacts/u/0/?cplus=0#contacts
there you can find all your google contact and you can select the ones you want to restore:simply select the contacts you want, click on "other" and then "export", select export as vCard. then you have to copy the vCard (it's a .vcf file) on your phone and you can restore it trought the dialer app hope it helps!

Hi, CM14.1 it's an Android 7.1 ROM, and there is no xposed framework for Android 7.1 yet
Edit: To clarify, if I didn't misunderstood the o.p., you can make this work on crDroid ROM without using xposed
Was a bit confusing at first. Had to read the OP carefully. The steps in the OP and MicroG will work on crDroid 7.1, BUT for other android 4.4-6.0 roms (with xposed support) OP suggests to use the FakeGapps Xposed module with Xposed Framework installed and skip the Step 3 in the guide.
For details, MicroG requires Signature Spoofing which CM14.1 does not have. This means that crDroid 7.1 must have been pre-patched with signature spoofing enabled. I tried to apply a signature spoof patch for my CM14.1 using Tingle but it failed because CM14.1 is odexed. I have no idea how to deodex it, so I will try crDroid 7.1 rom and follow OP steps.
Edit: Success! Thanks for the guide!
For Google contacts and calendar sync, install DAVdroid and use the following details to setup the account:
1. Select "Login with URL and user name"
2. Set Base URL: "https://www.google.com/calendar/dav/[email protected]/events" (replace [email protected] with your account)
3. Set User name: Full Google account ([email protected])
4. Set Password: Your Google account password

Close app and clear it from Recents. Then try again. After a couple/few times the Play Store would kick in properly. No problems after that.

This works only if the rom allows signature spoofing. Lineage 14.1 does not have that and xposed is still in development and not released for nougat. So cant use with lineage 14.1.

Oh no.. why u are worried of safetynet?
No problem in installing on L22. My observations are:
1. During first boot-
a) it used 25% of battery juice
b) enormous heating on back cover.
2. Now all Chinese apps are replaced with English Global apps.
App store - In english now
Theme app - does not show the images of wall-papers & themes.
Fonts - No fonts are available now.
3. Camera after effects are very good.
4. 2nd sim problem is sorted by taking the 1st sim out and in again.
5. additional setting for sim networks is working.
Though flyme tools 3.02 version did not worked for me (coz it requires xposed & I dont have that)
İnternational variant ?

This is my daily driver that I have decided to share. With the increase of big tech and government overreach in our lives, I felt more of a desire to move away from Google and the like. OnePlus 5 & 5T was built with lineagos and microG/LineageOS source and is fully functional.
What is this?
This is LineageOS with all closed-source binary Google blobs removed and replaced with microG. I.E no Play services or GAPPS. UnifiedNLP is used as networking location provider vice Google's NLP. F-Droid is installed by default providing alternative app store. However, with Aurora store you can still install Google Play store apps with ease (requires additional installations).
It is strongly recommended not to install GApps as this ROM contains a replacement for them.
Known issues
You tell me!
Installation with lineage recovery:

Dirty flash (Update)
- Backup your data (recommended)
- Reboot to TWRP - Flash new firmware (if needed) and update the build (followed by no-verity if you were decrypted earlier)

Dirty Flash (OTA)
Updates can be downloaded and installed on your phone via lineageos_updates.
See under settings/system/advanced.
If it is not possible to install the update automatically, or if you want to install it manually, please follow these steps,
select install in twrp/ parent folder/data/lineageos_updates.

Other information
Google Play Store Alternative If you want full access to normal android Play Store apps do the following: Open F-Droid app. Search for Aurora Store and install. Once opened select the appropriate option, generally option #1 will be the most common used with this ROM as long as it has not been modified by the user. Once setup you will have access to all applications as normal. Some apps require Play Services and cannot be used, This requires Magisk, which is not provided in our base rom. Once you have reached Magisk, you need to read and install NanoDroid, which can be found here.

It's not "official", but there is a fork of LOS being maintained that incldues F-Droid amd MicroG by default and adds signature spoofing support. It takes all devices that are officially supported by LOS and builds a MicroG-fork.
This is why I don't see the point of this here.

I use the official MICROG fork version since the beginning, great ROM
How's the battery life with this rom, compared to Stock? (running OxygenOS 9.0.9)
Why does this ROM have Fakestore preinstalled? Who actually uses that? Plus, it's a system app so you can't easily delete it without modifying system partition.

It's not meant to be used. It's an empty placeholder so apps don't complain about missing play store

I know, but I would like to use the patched playstore from nanolx instead and this blocks me from doing so.

Well if you would like to use setialpha's patched play store you need to flash the NanoDroid zip anyway, I don't see the issue.
Does the rom supports mirrorlink

Android Open Source Project for Moto G60 & G40
About AOSP
Android is an open source operating system for mobile devices and a corresponding open source project led by Google. This site and the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) repository offer the information and source code needed to create custom variants of the Android OS, port devices and accessories to the Android platform, and ensure devices meet the compatibility requirements that keep the Android ecosystem a healthy and stable environment for millions of users.
As an open source project, Android's goal is to avoid any central point of failure in which one industry player can restrict or control the innovations of any other player. To that end, Android is a full, production-quality operating system for consumer products, complete with customizable source code that can be ported to nearly any device and public documentation that is available to everyone.
Just as you can contribute code to AOSP, you can also contribute to AOSP documentation—and we want your input! Android's flexibility and ever-changing codebase means this site needs your feedback to keep content fresh, accurate, and relevant to Android implementors. We encourage you to check the changelog for details on recent AOSP updates and to report bugs or offer suggestions using the Site Feedback at the bottom of every page.

Just because you we able to enjoy Android 12 and now Android 13 you are great sir thank you very muxh
This is absolutely bananas!
And you sir, are a wizard.
Many thanks for this!
By the way, from the description, it looks very similar to the PixelExperience ROM. Is there any difference?
Also, I see VoLTE mentioned as working (as with all your other projects). Is VoWIFI (WiFi Calling) working, too? Cause that would be amazing!

Yes works perfectly!
Thank you for confirming! How about twrp? Which version should we use? Can we use Android 12/12L version?
Which recovery I have to use 11_or12/12L b'coz I m on stock11
Google removed the ability to use custom fonts in Android 12? Looks like Motorola decided to keep this feature (and I'm glad they did). But now I'm wondering, is there any way to bring that back with custom ROMs? Or any alternative methods to achieve the same effect (without rooting the device)?

You can use the 12/12L TWRP recovery to install this ROM. Tested, working fine.
Potential bug: when trying to restore the backup from Google, it gets stuck in the "Just a few moments" screen.
Screenshot below.
Update:
If anyone else encounters this issue, it looks like the problem is...permissions.
If you get the Google Play services error, you need to change settings according.
Basically this is what needs to be changed.
Alternatively, you can simply go to Settings > Apps > Google Play Services > Permissions, and allow permissions for Contacts, Phone and SMS.
After that, you can go back one step in the restore flow (in case it's stuck in loading) and try to restore again. This time, it should go through.

It's only been a couple of hours for me. But yeah, it's working great so far.
Ok, one thing that doesn't work so far: Google Pay (Wallet). Can't add new cards to it.
The ROM is not rooted. But...I think it's missing NFC.

Yes, you only need to flash the ROM. No need for Gapps.
Something else I've noticed.
The camera app seems to be the default AOSP one (of course). Would be nice if it could be built with maybe Google Camera or Moto Camera... Just an idea.
I tried to install Google Camera from the Play Store, and it does install...but it keeps crashing.
I managed to install GCam from here though.

Haven't tried LineageOS on this phone. But....so far so good. I mean, battery life depends on a lot of factors. Screen brightness, games you play, apps you use, network signal...etc etc etc. So...it might be great for me and awful for you. Also, I haven't used the ROM long enough to get an accurate idea for the battery life.
I'm posting here as I'm discovering new things that either don't work, could be improved on, or just my thoughts using the ROM. Everything I found is already posted here. But battery...that might take a bit longer to determine. And as I said, it depends.

Yeah, I agree. Although I noticed that lineage os has a superior battery life under the same day-to-day conditions as compared to PixelExperience which is why I was concerned
