Bootloader Unlock and Fastboot Commands? - LG G8 Questions & Answers

I am planning to get the LG G8 soon. I will probably want to unlock the bootloader at some point. Are all variants supported for bootloader unlocks officially? Do all variants support fastboot commands? I will probably have to get the Canadian variant LMG820UM2 . I have V30 now and LG was only supporting them on select variants for V30. Thank you in advance.

I've got the T-mobile variant but I'm not expecting it to ever be bootloader unlockable but it would be nice.

I'm wanting to get the korean model because it has the 3 camera setup. I'm hoping that this variant will be able to be with unlocked BL and root.

Issues unlocking LG G4 H815

All,
I'm having issues unlocking my H815 LG G4. I enter the proper IMEI and device information into the location on LG's developer website to unlock it but then I get an error which I have attached.
This has been discussed many times before.
You need a region specific H815 in order to unlock your bootloader. A specific EU variant is the only one that LG supports unlocking right now. My Taiwanese specific G4 is not supported. If you'd like, you can msg LG and pile on the requests to unlock all H815 variants, but I believe they said they wouldn't.
Good luck!

Any Ideas on how to root without bootloader unlocked?
Im having the same issue the only difference is that my LG G4 h815 is the EU open market variant which is the one that can only unlock bootloader im getting the message saying everything is correct but cannot unlock bootloader, i contacted lg support dev, the answer from them is that i cannot unlock my G4, this is bull**** i pay i want full control of my phone. hope someone can come up with a way to root this device without unlocking the bootloader just like with the G3 model.
Returned mine and bought another straight from a site in the UK. Went without a hitch.

LG G4 Marshmallow Root w/ out unlocked Bootloader

So I was finding my my Device-ID and IMEI so I could unlock the bootloader, but LG'S website said Singapore models weren't supported. My model is the H815. So knowing this is there any way to root my LG G4 running Marshmallow without unlocking the boot loader? Or if there's anyway to unlock the bootloader for Singapore models.

Question - factory unlocked H815- will oem bootloader unock etc affect carrier unlock

Simple question but can't really find the answer online.
Bought an H815, no carrier label etc. My ATT sim works in it.
I want to unlock the bootloader (OEM process) root, add TWRP and flash custom ROMS. Will this affect the factory unlocked carrier status?
How is it carrier unlocked btw , at the hardware level or bios type process? I see the H815 comes factory carrier unlocked?
tia
Assuming your phone was purchased sim free, then no, bootloader unlock shouldn't affect it. You can always make a backup with SALT first (bootloader can be locked when you take the backup) so if for whatever reason it does get removed then you can restore it.
Btw, LG's don't support fastboot oem unlock. You need to do it via Official LG bootloader unlock website or UsU (look here in the threads) if your device isn't supported officially - if it is an EU H815 it official should work though.
fr eBay sim free. I'll look into the SALT backup.
I did a bit of work already and signed up as an LG dev and do see the LG website process which I was going to do to start.
So then adding TWRP and a custom rom will not affected the carrier unlock as well?
thanks

Root LG G8 THINQ?

1. Is there a method to root g8 thinq???
As far as im tracking right now there is no TWRP recovery image of the LG G8 ThinQ. I read This Post, and This Post, but didn't test it yet. If anyone rooted it, please let me know.
I have AT&T model. It has the option to enable OEM unlock. The phone is network locked to AT&T.
2. Also, are there any firmware available (e.g., clean one without bloatware)?
I have found This One but skeptical to actually try it out.
Despite the fact that Enable OEM Unlock is an option in Developer Options, when I try to boot into the bootloader, it is unsuccessful. Apparently LG has blocked access to the bootloader on this, as well as other phones.
For the record, I'm on AT&T as well.
Thats kinda lame. I thought that LG wont have same practice with keeping their phones locked as Samsung... Anyway, THIS POST shows supported devices to get to bootloader for LG. Looks like wont have any root any time soon.
What about that firmware without bloatware. Looks like it doesnt require the bootloader?
Hello, can you unlock the bootloader of the LG G8 ThinQ ANDROID 11 AT&T

LG G8 models LMG820QM7/LMG820QM8(Amazon). Do both boot up without a carrier screen?

LMG820QM7 Is US Unlocked, so hopefully no carrier bloatware on this.
And I should be able to flash this If I'm on a Unlocked Sprint model with OEM Unlock enabled?
