This is exciting!!
On another note, people have mentioned that there'll be 3 versions, each coming with some extra bands separate from the other versions.
Could affect how this firmware can be flashed. Hopefully people can figure out if all versions support unified flashing of a custom ROM without any major differences.
EDIT: looking at some past zenfone unlocking and relocking instructions on XDA, I found that if you do the official unlock the serial number gets recorded by Asus and you won't be able to get OTAs even if you relock your device. Some people have found ways to unofficially unlock the bootloader but not sure it gives any freedom to flash custom ROMs, TWRP or even Magisk.

Good question. I was wondering about the same. Hopefully it's not like with Samsung and LG devices where it's a disaster to mess with them unless the development isn't for that specific device.
Regarding the bootloader, I'm not sure if it counts that much if you receive OTA or not once you've unlocked it because you can flash it manually. Not sure how it works with Asus though... It's a problem if you want to sell it later, but other than that, I don't see any reason to worry.

I have asus m1 pro i unlocked bootloader unofficially and i can flash magisk or twrp and roms. And it doesn't void warranty of you come to stock and lock bootloader,
While unlocking official way will remove access to future ota s and warranty will not be valid.

[HOW-TO] How to unlock your Redmi 5 Plus

What is this How-to for:
In our Telegram-group, I've seen quite some questions on what to do to unlock a Redmi 5 Plus.
There are a few different states a phone can be in when you receive it, such as 'Fake' roms, China stable, China DEV and so on. Below we'll try and make sense of it al and explain what is the best way of getting about unlocking your phone.
Update: With the release of the global Development rom, some people have successfully unlocked their device without having to perform the testpoint method. The rom can be found here:
http://bigota.d.miui.com/8.3.15/miui_HM5PlusGlobal_8.3.15_e69c117bf5_7.1.zip
After installing global development, please start unlocking by beginning at step 1 below, but skipping step 2!
Step 1: (needed for everyone who wants to unlock their phone, regardless):
1: Goto: http://en.miui.com/unlock/ and follow the steps there to apply for unlocking:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This requires creating a MIUI forum account and entering a mobile number on which you will receive your approval. This number does NOT need to be the number you are going to use on your Redmi 5 Plus. As long as you create a MI account and hang on to that, you're good.
Getting the approval might take a while. The best way to check if your approval has been passed is to regularly revisit http://en.miui.com/unlock/ (while logged in with your forum account) until the page changes on opening to one that allows you to download the unlock client app:
This is it for this part for now.
Step 2: Knowing what ROM you are on and taking the steps to get to the right one if needed:
Basically, the following 'states' are possible:
China Stable Rom
Official Global Stable
'Fake' Global, locked bootloader
'Fake' Global, Unlocked bootloader; If you are part of these happy few, go directly to step 4.
For the first 3 options you will need to flash to the China dev rom: Which can be found here: http://bigota.d.miui.com/8.2.1/vince_images_8.2.1_20180201.0000.00_7.1_cn_bd9ee1a88a.tgz
This needs to be done via the so called 'Test point method', and it is the only way to do it (as of now).
Information on how to do this you can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVG3Ip6UPGE.
After this, you are ready for the next step.
Step 3: Binding account and unlocking:
Note: If you have problems binding your account on step 1, use PlexVPN, setting the connection to a China location, or use the attached APK vpn service (in.invpn_2017-08-15.apk).
1: After you’ve applied and received unlock permission from MIUI you can use the account to sign into your Mi-Account on your phone.
First though, we need to establish if you need to do additional steps, so hold on to this for now.
2: Enable “Developer options” on your device by tapping few times on MIUI version.
3: Go to “Developer options” and enable “OEM Unlocking”, then go to “Mi Unlock Status” and tap on “Add account and device”.
4: Download and install the latest version of MiFlashUnlock from this page and install it on your pc (unlocking with MiUnlock 1.x version won’t work).
5. Install MiFlashUnlock, open it and press “Agree” button, sign into your Mi-account.
6: Turn off your phone completely and start it in fastboot mode. Press “Power” and “Volume Down” buttons at the same time until fastboot logo appear on the screen.
Connect your phone to PC in fastboot mode and press “Unlock” button.
7: And now this is where it gets a bit silly. You most likely will be confronted with a wait time between 72 and 360 hours. There is currently no way around this and you have to sit it out.
Once the time has passed, you can unlock your phone and are ready to flash TWRP and be a happy camper.
EDIT: There is a way around the 360 hour wait. Check this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...ageos-15-1-t3780298/post76304194#post76304194
Step 4: Flash TWRP
See this topic on how to do this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/-t3727162.

Should the phone used to receive the unlock SMS be the same as the one on the device being unlocked?
I have tried my phone number but I didn't receive an SMS, so I had to use a U.S number and successfully got it.

In that case, you already have permissions to unlock.
Damn, is the test point method really the only way to unlock the bootloader? I want to install Lineage but I'm not willing to open up my brand new phone and start bridging circuits..
How many devices can I unlock with one account?
And what if I sold my device?
Damn!
is this the only way to unlock the bootloader!
i just wanna root my device!
i'm on Global Stable ROM V9.2.6.0.NEGMIEK, do i need to flash to the China dev rom in order to unlock the bootloader?

i have the same problem 86006 all the time on official global rom......
i know test point flashing chinese dev rom and later adding account with VPN will work....but its my girlfriends phone. she will freak out if i tear it apart.
has anyone found any other soulution for this problem ?
370 hrs...
We must really waiting for ?
Yeah no way around it, the annoying part is that I already had a Xiaomi account that I used for unlocking other phones but apparently now you can't log in with a phone number anymore so the account is lost. See y'all in 2 weeks.
And china stable doesn't allow to unlock, neither?
I thought the problem was only in global roms...

Bad screen casting on Android Auto

There is a 1.5 cm black margin between the Android Auto (AA) content and the top of the car's display, which is only visible when I connect Xiaomi A2 lite. It didn't happen with my previous phone. Moreover, the bottom part of the AA content is not shown at all, so that this app became not usable at all.
This happens also when casting with Google photos to my home smart TV, so I don't think that AA is the problem.
Any suggestion of how to fix this issue?
i can confirm the issue. i already read about xiaomi had this problem in conjunction with the MI-UI.
with stock android one on the a2 lite it's obvious this is a general xiaomi problem.
by the way, the mi a1 didn't have the issue...

the problem seems caused by the aspect ratio (18:9)
There's on solution out there, quiet uncomfortable but's working:
- root your device with magisk
- install "SecondScreen - better screen mirroring for Android Braden Farmer" from play store
- create profile in secondscreen and activate:
Resolution: 800x480
Density: 120 dpi (hpi)
-> android car is fully working on HUR but the screen on handy is due the bad dpi very wired
may be some dev can provide a solution which only changes resolution and dpi on the HUR and keep the device screen on native resolution / dpi
hello, i can also confirm this issue.
attached is two snapshots. The first one is with My Samsung Galaxy S7, here is also good.
The secound one is the snapshot with Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite. Top and bottom have a black border.
I testet this device in a Hyundai i30 (Bj 2018) and Seat Leon (Bj 2018). Also the same problem.

Guys, A2L phones come with an app named something like "comments" (in Portuguese it's named "comentários", not 100% sure of its name in English) with an orange icon. This app allows you to report bugs directly to the dev team.
I already sent the navigation bar issue when using some apps (such as Spotify).
Try sending the photos you posted here so they can fix that issue sooner or later.
Also, the more people send all those issues, the more they will realize how critical the fixes are.
I can confirm this issue on a Mazda 2 ?

solved by flashing lineage os 15.1 - treble
I found a rom which makes Android Auto working.
Upfdate: I also tried out ASOp from phh treble https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...-development/experimental-phh-treble-t3709659
- Android Auto is also working
- the notch is working here!
I downloaded lineage os Image for ARM64 A/B device with gapps from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pr...evice-development/lineage-phh-treble-t3767690
I followed instructions from section "Flash GSI without TWRP": https://www.xda-developers.com/flash-generic-system-image-project-treble-device/
So what did i do exactly?
1. Unlock bootloader (my was already unlocked)
2. Download https://github.com/phhusson/treble_...load/lineage-v21/system-arm64-ab-gapps-su.img
3. Reboot to your device’s stock recovery using either a button combination when booting or issuing the following ADB command when booted in Android: adb reboot recovery. Once here, use the volume keys to navigate and the power button to select the factory reset option.
4. Once your device has been factory reset, reboot to your device’s bootloader using either a button combination when booting or issuing the following ADB command when booted in Android: adb reboot bootloader
5. With your device connected to your PC, open up a command prompt or terminal window in the same directory where you downloaded your GSI of choice.
Enter the following command: fastboot erase system
Enter a command in the following format: fastboot -u flash system-arm64-ab-gapps-su.img
Allow the image to flash, it could take a few minutes. Once it has completed, reboot your device either manually via power key or by entering fastboot reboot.
P.S. the rom doesn't know the notch, bust rest like camera etc. is working!

Billion Capture Plus

Billion Capture Plus
Flipkart phone with SD625
There's also a global version now for only 65€ that can be found via Chinese resellers which is a bargain.
According to 4pda the Bootloader seems unlocked since a user was alble to flash mido TWRP with no working touchscreen unfortunately.
The phone has been updated to Oreo with Camera2api enabled which makes Gcam ports work well
Unfortunately there no official downloadable firmware, unbrick guides or custom ROMs, which is surprising considering the great custom ROM community India has
Gcam with everything working except Slowmo:
*Works only on Android 7.1.2
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/NoHex_MGC_6.1.021_xcam_5_beta20.apk
According to a user at 4pda forums mido TWRP can be flashed but there's no working touchscreen.
Since there's no way to find the Oreo update zip file we can't get the display driver yet
Be careful - unlocking the boot on this device leads to impossibility of OTA update to 8.1. (status 7 in recovery). Fought with this phone for almost a month, and no lucky chance to catch the update in "mid-air"(while it's being downloaded) or make the updater's apk to download the firmware in other place instead of data (owner: root). Still going for a vicious circle: we don't have root to pull the OTA update out of the phone to make a custom recovery... And we don't have TWRP to root it.
We didn't exactly flash mido TWRP, just booted it. Hardware buttons are working though, but again we don't have CWM.

I'm not Russian so I'm using Google translate to understand .
Should I upgrade to Oreo any downsides?
Can you upload the Google camera config files?
How can we make twrp work?
Isn't there any firmware dump tool for Qualcomm phones?
If we can get the stock boot.img we can have root without TWRP
Also has anyone tried flashing treble ROMs via fast boot?
Edit: Found this tutorial
What I wanna say is: Dumping the stock boot.img
Modify it with root via the Magisk app
Flash the modified boot.img in fast boot in order to have root

Interesting tutorial, but the program in video saves files in unknown format. What do we do with them after we got dump?
1. Oreo update contains one little bug - it slightly interrupts the touchscreen's work. No noticeable in everyday usage, but still having its place. Can't attach the example 'çause I'm newbie here.
2. The only way to build up the TWRP is to get kernel source of stock rom (boot.img). The problem is that we can't pull it out of device - this partition is hidden under "root" privileges.
3. You can dump anything with ADB, but there is no way you see the most important partitions like data, system, boot, recovery and so on.
4. Nope, see second line;

4. Nope, see second line;
5. No, because the chance to catch a brick (to get an empty device which won't load the system/recovery/adb/fastboot) is too high.

So far we can't see another ways to get TWRP or root. Couple of configs (remove space in the end of links):

Google Camera works pretty fine, especially on 8.1. But the seventh droid has fancy photos too. Search for the gcam on the 4pda thread, there are some examples of Google Camera photos.

Any Custom Recovery for Billion Capture Plus??
Is there any working Custom Recovery available for Billion Capture Plus (4GB+64GB model). I have tried some available recovery from TWRP and OrangeFox and it stuck in Boot screen where it just show "Billion logo and powered by Android". In this mode if I connect to my PC and using fastboot I can still access mobile and whatever I try to flash it is not working.
Any help in getting Custom Recovery or Original Bootloader so that I can use my mobile will be helpful for me.

Uf... never had a chance to build a ROM like this... I'd like to try to "create" one for XZ2C since there are almost no other custom ROM there...
Although... I'm already trying to port OrangeFox recovery from akari to xz2c (first dirty mods works fine!)

So far, the only issue is netflix playback specification, DRM widevine: L3, max playback resolution is only SD. I have tried crdroid feature, spoof netflix, but no luck. Any solution for this?

you loose DRM once you unlock the bootloader,
I don't think there is a way to get widevine L1 back on unlocked bootloader
Thanks for making this. I had Docomo device and this is the only flash-able ROM at the moment.
If possible, may I request a brightness slider on statusbar? Not on quick settings. Its where you just slide anywhere on the statusbar to control the phone brightness. I miss this feature.
Also, whenever I pull down the quick settings, it feels quite jerky/lagging. Is it just me?
I only have like 5 tiles.

Xiaomi&Redmi is one of the only vendors that still gives you Widevine L1 even after BLU. Not gonna happen here on Xperia phones.
Hello,
I would like to know, if the known Front micriphone Software issue is fixed in this OS Form?
Thanks. EW
Thanks for your awesome work!To my surprise, the touching bug that has been bothering me for long seemed to has disappeared after burning this ROM.
Excellent ROM! Thank you so much for making this, I can now finally actually Use my XZ2 Compact.
One small problem - and it might just be me, but I can't seem to get 4G connectivity, only 3G/H+. I checked the bands this device has and I should be able to get a 4G connection with the provider I use in Australia but no luck. Not a big deal right now as 3G hasn't been shutdown here (yet) but just wanted to see if anyone else who uses this ROM has the same issue.

Does 4g works for you on stock rom?

Yeah I did try manually adding an APN (if that's what you were meaning) but yeah no luck.
I'll see if the SIM works on the stock ROM when I have more time.

We don't recommend installing this on your main device, and especially if you're not familiar with development or alpha/beta testing. There are quite a few known issues right off the bat:

Developer Preview 1
WLAN malfunctions in certain scenarios
Connection fails when casting to a TV display
Red screen is seen when switching from Guest mode to Owner mode in certain scenarios
Manual connection fails after the phone is disconnected from the tablet
WeChat calls may not ring with Bluetooth headsets
Red screen flashes when creating a new calendar
Screen freezes when taking picture with the front camera in WhatsApp
Which devices support the preview?
OnePlus 11 (all variants except carrier-branded e.g. TMO/VZW)
Where can I get the preview?Before installing, be aware that installing a developer preview carries a risk of bricking your phone. Make sure you know what you're doing, and backup your files/media before proceeding. Also ensure your battery level is at least 30% and you have at least 5GB space left on your device.
Refer to the forum threads for more information:
OnePlus 11:
Developer Preview 1
Can I revert to the stable version of OxygenOS?Yes, please read the forum thread of your device as linked above for detailed instructions. Rolling back will completely wipe all your data, so please take a backup before proceeding.
Below is the rollback/downgrade packages for the OnePlus 11. Make sure you choose the correct rollback package for your device and region. We are providing these links purely for your convenience, as rolling back isn't natively supported by our app. After downloading the correct rollback package, move the file from the "Downloads" directory to the topmost directory of internal storage (the same directory that the "Downloads" folder is in). You may also have to rename ".jar" to ".zip".
Then, open Settings -> About device -> Version and tap "Build number" 7 times. This will enable Android's built-in "developer mode" (you might have to enter your phone's PIN/password too). Once this is done, "Local upgrade" will once again be visible in Settings -> About device -> Software update -> top-right button. It it doesn't show up, download & install OPLocalUpdate_For_Android13.apk, and use that to install updates locally.
Rollback packagesThe following packages will rollback your device to Android 13, and will wipe all your data. Note that these rollback ZIPs will take you back to A.09 even though the latest OOS13 stable version at the time of writing is A.10. These are not the packages you should download if you're looking to update to Android 14/U.
OnePlus 11 / Rollback packages :
OnePlus 11 NA Version (A.09)
OnePlus 11 IN Version (A.09)
OnePlus 11 EU Version (A.09)
OnePlus 11 GLO Version (A.09)
Thumbnail and image credits: Google/AOSP/OnePlus
Source: Oxygen updater/OnePlus firum
Rollback packages can be very helpful to convert CN Modele to IN, EU or GLO and also to be flashed to solve softbrick devices.

The rollback packages are very fresh, so untill someone try, it is difficult to say.
But theoretically it could work. At least with 2551 you will be able to get full OTA updates

Hey finally I can convert my phone back to the US firmware.
My OP 11 is stucked/rebooting in fastboot mode after flashed 14 beta EU. Booting to black screen. Can reboot to fastboot mode.
Tried to repaired via Fastboot Enhance and roll back package with no success.. I have to ignore some partinations. Any solutions?

Sorry for not making myself clear, I mean, downloading the apk from the forum and take it to a CN color os device and forcefully "downgrade" it to the 13 ROM - could it be even possible?
Or forcefully for to DP1 NA first and then, down?
