Billion Capture Plus - Device Reviews and Information

Billion Capture Plus
Flipkart phone with SD625
There's also a global version now for only 65€ that can be found via Chinese resellers which is a bargain.
According to 4pda the Bootloader seems unlocked since a user was alble to flash mido TWRP with no working touchscreen unfortunately.
The phone has been updated to Oreo with Camera2api enabled which makes Gcam ports work well
Unfortunately there no official downloadable firmware, unbrick guides or custom ROMs, which is surprising considering the great custom ROM community India has

Gcam with everything working except Slowmo:
*Works only on Android 7.1.2
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/NoHex_MGC_6.1.021_xcam_5_beta20.apk

According to a user at 4pda forums mido TWRP can be flashed but there's no working touchscreen.
Since there's no way to find the Oreo update zip file we can't get the display driver yet

Be careful - unlocking the boot on this device leads to impossibility of OTA update to 8.1. (status 7 in recovery). Fought with this phone for almost a month, and no lucky chance to catch the update in "mid-air"(while it's being downloaded) or make the updater's apk to download the firmware in other place instead of data (owner: root). Still going for a vicious circle: we don't have root to pull the OTA update out of the phone to make a custom recovery... And we don't have TWRP to root it.
We didn't exactly flash mido TWRP, just booted it. Hardware buttons are working though, but again we don't have CWM.

I'm not Russian so I'm using Google translate to understand .
Should I upgrade to Oreo any downsides?
Can you upload the Google camera config files?
How can we make twrp work?
Isn't there any firmware dump tool for Qualcomm phones?
If we can get the stock boot.img we can have root without TWRP
Also has anyone tried flashing treble ROMs via fast boot?
Edit: Found this tutorial
What I wanna say is: Dumping the stock boot.img
Modify it with root via the Magisk app
Flash the modified boot.img in fast boot in order to have root

Interesting tutorial, but the program in video saves files in unknown format. What do we do with them after we got dump?
1. Oreo update contains one little bug - it slightly interrupts the touchscreen's work. No noticeable in everyday usage, but still having its place. Can't attach the example 'çause I'm newbie here.
2. The only way to build up the TWRP is to get kernel source of stock rom (boot.img). The problem is that we can't pull it out of device - this partition is hidden under "root" privileges.
3. You can dump anything with ADB, but there is no way you see the most important partitions like data, system, boot, recovery and so on.
4. Nope, see second line;
5. No, because the chance to catch a brick (to get an empty device which won't load the system/recovery/adb/fastboot) is too high.

So is there another way ?
Have you discovered anything new?
Also as I said can you upload the Google camera config files?
You can upload them via a PC using the paper clip icon
Also how's the camera quality with Google camera?

So far we can't see another ways to get TWRP or root. Couple of configs (remove space in the end of links):

Google Camera works pretty fine, especially on 8.1. But the seventh droid has fancy photos too. Search for the gcam on the 4pda thread, there are some examples of Google Camera photos.

Any Custom Recovery for Billion Capture Plus??
Is there any working Custom Recovery available for Billion Capture Plus (4GB+64GB model). I have tried some available recovery from TWRP and OrangeFox and it stuck in Boot screen where it just show "Billion logo and powered by Android". In this mode if I connect to my PC and using fastboot I can still access mobile and whatever I try to flash it is not working.
Any help in getting Custom Recovery or Original Bootloader so that I can use my mobile will be helpful for me.

Dev on 4pda forums are still working on it

Anyone got enough language skills to translate some 4pda instructions into english? Ofc we got google translator, but personally I would feel more secure having those steps in english.

Thanks, nice and good info
Nice! Looking forward to seeing it here.
Hello,
Is it ok to update via the update function on the device, even the mediapad has unlocked bootloader and twrp?
Are there any precautions?
Thanks

An OTA update always ships with a new firmware as well. I'm running, and ran, a lot of devices, using TWRP. This I'm really sure that it still is admit always has been: TWRP won't be able to flash the firmware part. Sometimes the ROM update part can be flashed using TWRP, but in general a stock recovery and stock untouched system image unneeded to update through the build in update functionality.

Thanks a lot for the helpful information.
So i'll find a way to prepare myself ?
It's actually the first time in 5 years, that I end up with a device where there's no custom rom available.

Thanks this update:good:, finally its comming..
anyone found a downloadable image of the firmware yet? It's two weeks since official release now, but i can't find the image anywhere.
I've been looking like a crazy person also...
http://consumer.huawei.com/jp/support/downloads/index.htm
Japanese site.
http://m.huawei.com/enmobile/consumer/support/downloads/index.htm
English site.
Maybe if we find a Japanese 5.1.1 firmware, flash it and manually search for update it might work . Can't find one though... :/
Nothing found so far, I have looked for the image too but nothing...hope to find it, or we get the OTA update soon.
One guy in a german forum posted, that he got the update yesterday. So we are maybe not far away.

as he wrote that he had the korean b019 installed before, this sadly gives no clue about the release in other regions. :\
So the options are being patient and hope that the rollout will continue soon. Oooor....just put the korean version on my tab (which hopefully has english language sets anyways), fetch the update and up it to my GDrive. Oh the struggle....
Ah... So Korean or Japanese...
I live in Myanmar and the internet here is so crappy terrible.. Won't be able to download the big files anytime soon.. Would love to test it. :/
But think of how happy you would make us all by being able to upload it to gdrive
i won't find the time today, but i think i might play around a bit with those foreign Firmware installations tomorrow and see how far i get. I really love this piece of hardware, but 5.1.1 is just way outdated and i strongly hope that 6.0 also boosts the overall speed a bit.
Oooooh I hope that they have added multi users and the Screen Pinning feature, which is a Lollipop feature, that they for some reason also have removed.
hmm....i am bit shy to install the downloaded asian rom since i got the Wifi only version (m2-801w) of the tab and all b019-roms i can find are for the LTE version (801l). Anyone knows a download location for 801w b019?
[edit] nevermind, found it on needrom. Just downloading...
So here we are: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B765h62rQ81INUp0WHVvUFh5VzA
Steps i took, coming from a rooted 5.1.1 (version CUST<something>D003 i think)
- download 5.1.1 Asia release B019 from needrom (M2-801w-V100R001C233B019.zip)
- extract all img files with Huawei Extractor to a dedicated folder
- uninstall superSU
- fastboot to bootloader
- fastboot flash system, recovery and boot img from the extracted file
- reboot
- launch Update Tool
- be scared by some weird asian Update Notes
- install anyway
- success
after installation, the system language is still set to german (as it was on my tab before), so there seems to be no need to work through korean menus for setting the localization back.
You can surely skip those steps above and put the update.zip directly into your /dload folder or on the external sd card, but remember that you need a stock rom for it to work. If you tempered /system or had some custom recovery, you should fastboot flash the extracted img files directly.

Guide:
Go to Developer settings and enable oem unlock
power off the device and boot in download mode with power + vol down buttons and plug in the usb (make sure usb cable is connected to the pc)
in download mode you see the long press vol up option for unlock bl
unlock the bootloader (that will wipe your device so be sure you made a backup of your data)
after bootloader unlock boot up the phone and make sure it is connected to the internet or he triggers rmm prenormal
setup the phone without google account etc
reboot in download mode and flash twrp tar for your device with odin in the AP field (if you want to patch twrp byself patch the downloaded tar in magisk manager. patched tar is in downloads folder after patch)
hold vol up + power button while odin is flashing until you are in twrp.
format data in twrp
flash the disabler that is on TWRP download link
flash my kernel avaiable here
press reboot to system in twrp.
so since i am not all the time here on xda here is a telegram group link. use it for report bugs etc since i dont read all the time the complete thread here https://t.me/twrp_n10
so multidisabler is updated to v2 and stock rom boots again normaly sammy added 2 more encryption in the n10 that needed to get disabled
Magisk Patched builds are now uploaded too for the one that dont wants to patch byself
Great work! Stuck with the snapdragon hopefully something pops up for us.
Thanks! For some reason it doesn't detect my sim after flashing this. Anyone else have this issue?

Hello,
I hope you're fine sir,
I just got my Note 10 plus and about to root it,
However, I am a bit lost when you said magisk prepatched and unpatched, what is the difference...?
Also, for the multidisabler , there are formatting steps, so should I do your steps and do the multidisabler thread steps, or yours are enough...?
I just want a perfect flash, I had a terrible experience with my Note 9 unfortunately due to misunderstanding the steps...:crying:
For now, I'll be backing up and completing all the steps required before I move on the new phone...
I do hope you or anyone else sees this and guides me through...:fingers-crossed:
Bless you and all developers and helpers :good::angel:

Okay. I have solved it by flashing the original firmware downloaded from Sam mobile, after that I repeated the steps but I changed the AP file since I had downloaded the one from N976, download the correct ones for N975 and it was fixed. I already recognized the SIM
Help, cant backup the system image.
Hi, i need some help.
I had n975 and twrp 3.3.1 ASHE install with magisk patched.
I still on stock rom with magisk. I tried to backup using twrp. When backing up system image(about 6 gb), it failed.
I am manage to backup others like modem, recovery and others.
What should I do to backup system?

Additional installation instructions if coming from stock MIUI:
In order to install a custom ROM you must have an unlocked bootloader. You can apply for this at Xiaomi's official site: https://en.miui.com/unlock/
You then need to install a custom recovery. Official TWRP builds are available, and the official maintainer has a thread with installation instructions here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...covery-unofficial-twrp-xiaomi-mi-mix-t3941867
Once you have TWRP installed, boot into recovery mode. Wipe cache, dalvik, system, vendor partitions.
The official TWRP for Mix 3 5G cannot decrypt A12+ encryption scheme so if you see scrambled filenames in recovery mode and want to access your files then use my unofficial build (version 3.7.0-12.0).
https://sourceforge.net/projects/xiaomi-andromeda/files/twrp-3.7.0_12-0-andromeda.img/download
You are strongly advised to flash the latest modem firmware. You can grab that here:
https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/firmware/andromeda/
This only needs to be done once, once the updated firmware has been flashed you can forget about it. If you get any warnings while trying to flash the firmware just delete "compatibility.zip" from inside the firmware zip.
WARNING: You will lose all saved files on your internal storage in the next step, make a backup of important files before proceeding
Data partition must be formatted (not wiped) to remove MIUI encryption. Use the bottom right "Format Data" button in the Wipe menu. You will be asked to type "yes" to confirm your choice.
At this point your internal storage will be empty. Copy the ROM from your PC to the phone, click install in TWRP and select the ROM. If you wish to install magisk or any other zips, copy it to the phone and install after the ROM. Once you have flashed the ROM and any add ons, you must format internal storage again as it must be completely empty for the very first custom ROM boot.
Reboot back to system and enjoy custom ROM goodness
To finish off the true Pixel experience, most users would like to install Google Camera. Unfortunately most gcam ports don't work very well on this device. The most compatible version that was found by the testers on the Mix 3 5G telegram group (https://t.me/mimix3_5G) is this build by Urnyx: https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/cfiles/gcm1/GCam_7.3.018_Urnyx05-v1.9.apk
This version has full 1080p/60fps and 4k/30fps support on the rear camera, but the front selfie camera will cause the app to crash.
The stock camera works fine with selfies and also starts when you open the slider. If you really want gcam, I would advise to install Urnyx's port and set the slider to open stock camera. Best of both worlds
Great ROM phone works better than ever. One question though, I'm unable to update Chrome, is there a work around?
Yes just go to apkmirror and download the latest chrome APK sorted it for me
Custom rom installed, I'm starting testing
Hi,
First of all, thanks for your work. I have 2 question, first I saw that this rom seems to in selinux permissive mode, do you intend to try to get in enforcing mode?
Second, I'm new to Pixel Experience (more used to lineageos) what is the difference between the normal an the "plus edition"
Thanks
ARCore doesn't seem to be working (incompatible) with PE currently without rooting the device and changing the fingerprint. Any fix soon?
Also a port of Gcam that works on the device is called pixelcam 2.0 and the gcam it is based on, although you have to mess around in the settings to recognise both the telephoto and rear camera. The only things that don't work is blur and focus tracking, although the gcam port it's based on does do these correctly, it doesn't detect the telephoto lens. (The front 'selfie' flash doesn't work on both)
[EDIT]: FOR THE PEOPLE THAT GET INTO A SOFT LOCK AFTER FORMATTING YOUR PHONE.
You have to use the official miui tools (miflash) (https://androidmtk.com/download-xiaomi-mi-flash-tool) as well as appropriate fastboot miui rom (the file you want ends in .tgz)(https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/archive/miui/andromeda/).
After downloading your files, put miflash in the root directory of your C:\ drive. Then keep on extracting the rom archive untill you end up with a folder and also put it in the root directory of your C:\ drive.
Reboot the phone into fastboot mode and connect it to your computer.
Then use miflash, select the rom folder, and completely wipe and reflash your phone (remembering to select the option to not relock the bootloader). If the flash fails, try changing your cable.
You then allow for a couple of minutes for miui to start and format the internal storage.
After the set-up screen appears, you go into fastboot and flash the custom recovery (TWRP) (https://dl.twrp.me/andromeda/). Go into the recovery and copy across your zip files for PE and optionally Magisk. Then wipe the dalvik, system, and cache. Then immediately flash your zips.
Don't format your data otherwise you end up back at step 1.
Then restart and boot back into the recovery and wipe data and internal storage. Then boot into PE.
Edit 2: Or you can just flash vbmeta as shown further in the thread.
Inkypen said:
You have tripped AVB (Android Verified Boot) which can be disabled by flashing a modified vbmeta image. All of my ROMs contain the disabled vbmeta image, but when coming from MIUI for the first time sometimes the enabled vbmeta persists and you got this load error. The following steps assume you have working fastboot and drivers, which must be true otherwise you wouldn't be able to install TWRP lol
Download this: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=2188818919693780960
Reboot into fastboot mode (hold volume down button while resetting phone)
Connect to PC and type the following in a terminal:
fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
The authenticate error will now be gone and you can try to install the ROM again.

Question for Mi Mix 3 (no 5g)
Good evening everyone. Quick question. I search at the official pixel experience site for Mi mix 3, and I only find Mi Mix 3 5G.
Is it the same? Compitable with Mi Mix 3 (no 5G)

The Mix 3 (codename perseus) has completely different hardware (Snapdragon 845 vs Snapdragon 855) compared to the Mix 3 5G (codename andromeda) which makes them completely incompatible with each other.
Phone doesn't want to charge when it reaches zero battery (device shut down) unless its booted into recovery mode (TWRP).
Not 100% sure where to report bugs so I'm putting it here.

Yes I have experienced the same issue plus my phone isn't fast changing with the official charger and usb cable supplied.
I'm aware of the offline charging bug and I already have it fixed in my testing builds. For now just hold volume up button when connecting charger so that it boots in to recovery mode.
You should use anx camera with this Rom instead of Google camera
To anyone using this rom, anxcamera is a must have! It's the miui camera ported over to AOSP and everything is working fine (incudes front flash, 960fps slow motion, 4k h265, filters and effects and the lot) I haven't experienced any bugs with it either and the quality in on par with the Google camera app. Download from the official website as the developer closed his xda forum

I have the ROM on my phone. It is great except for sliding the screen, and no 5G.
I flashed the latest build 185 and the "ANXCustLibs For Q" although I tired the "48MPFixQ_181.GlossyIntelligentCock.zip" file too which also worked perfectly. I installed it using magisk

adb devices -l gives this:
Code:
device usb:1-2 product:P40 Pro+ model:U2 device:Smartphone transport_id:1
Code:
[ro.board.platform]: [mt6580]
[ro.mediatek.platform]: [MT6580]
complete getprop:
https://pastebin.com/h66R0mNk
So, MT6580 and probably a Lollipop. Could be worse.
There is some jlinksz (maker of these) threads here.
Also at 4pda, where there is more info and stuff.

I would not do much to it if it works well enough as it is. But if you do take a backup first as finding correct one later can be really really hard...

I have the exact same phone, same issues as Ronny has. Have made a backup image of the phone but it's quite large in size ( over 5gb broken into 3 files). Would this be of use in in figuring out how to Root the phone?

Hi Ronny, you can backup the files on the phone by entering Recovery mode. Switch off the phone. Then, at the same time, hold down the power and volume up buttons down until a small menu appears in the middle of the screen. Choose the recovery option, volume up scrolls through the list, volume down selects which option you want from recovery, fastboot or normal. You'll have a android image pop up, maybe with the message "no command " , just wait or press the same button combination again and the recovery menu should appear . In the list will be the system or user files backup. I see from your images though that you have already figured most of the out.
That only gives us no. 3 of the files that Seppppx needs so I have asked him how to get the bootloader dump.

Any update on this? I have received a phone to use as back up until I get my own and it's the same type of deal as far as chinese phone goes.
Also, I forgot to mention that I was looking through the adb pull screen shot and even though I do not currently have root I can still cd to /dev/block/platform/mtk-msdc.0/ without viewing contents but when i try to cd by-name there is no directory by that name.... I want to be able to achieve root and also possibly make a custom rom for this device and I'm willing to follow any suggestions anybody has. Clearly the boot.img and such are in a different directory but I'm going to have to do more digging.

You would run the erase all partitions batch file, then run the recovery batch file, the recovery file flashes the partitions over for you. I have not tested these yet, these are the stock images provided from nvidia, and well, their quality control is questionable to me as far as maintaining their drivers and providing all the partitions needed
So I just do the same step as in your root tutorial but I run those 2 instead?

Correct, so, just go into fastboot mode on the shield like at the very beginning, then you should be able to run the wipe first to remove the root, then recovery.bat, if you have any trouble, you can right click the batch file, select "edit" then you can see the code used. So you could type cmd into the Recovery folder's toolbar to open a command prompt there and paste individually to see if it fails anywhere. I included the code to relock the bootloader if anyone needs it for refurb or return purposes
But how do I run a img file like the TWRP 3.60 img file? And the reason why I want to remove the root is because my Bluetooth headphones connected to the TV makes YouTube and Disney Plus don't want to load YouTube only buffering and like the same thing with Diseny Plus

you would run the command: fastboot boot the.img file name
so if it was twrp.img
type fastboot boot twrp.img and it will boot in team win

It does that to me when I remove and readd the hdmi. But yeah, the original method I taught people used lineage and that image is old, they do nightlies. I think using the rooted stock image would be better but again the stupid drivers are limiting me :/

If you would like to keep your root, I would advise giving those files a try. NVIDIA just updated them like 3 or 4 days ago, so they may actually work correctly this time, and just skip the TWRP this time, I put NVIDIA's recovery and boot image in there that should supposedly be rooted already, meaning when you flash, reboot, then run the system, in theory, you should have your shield back to stock, except now you should be able to install magisk without trouble by whatever method you choose
And have you have the same problem with Bluetooth headphones connected to the device if you have tried?

I haven't tried, but I would imagine the complications come from the method we used to root last time. Last time we used twrp to flash a new operating system. So instead of Using Android 11 like NVIDIA does stock, we used Lineage OS, which does not have the same apps, build.prop, etc as those that come with NVIDIA'S Android OS. So, if NVIDIA did Their job in properly sharing these rooted images, then yes your bluetooth should work as it did originally and that should also fix the AI Upscaling issue for those who asked about that in the past
So this time, you should only have to wipe, then flash the files, no TWRP is required
So all I need to do is to have root on a stock OS the Android 11 file and I basically can install root apps? And try the problems again? And how do I check for root then with Android 11?

For this model of shield, yes, all you gotta do is use the "dev rooted" stock images from nvidia, the ones I included in the Android 11 Root Stock Image: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BxehjouEO0vw1EhMv5QN8k8nKEy63TI-/view?usp=sharing
The easiest way to check for root is with an app that requires it. For instance I use an app called "root explorer" and it will tell you whether or not you are rooted usually on boot.
How do I Flash the Stock Image? I understand how I do EraseAllPartition and Recovery bat but I'm not that good with flash image from computer with fastest and I should pick EraseAllPartition first? And should I uninstall the Android Bootloader interface?
