i start thinking to sell it but i will wait a little longer, maybe.

SnapDragon makes the shot to this phone. Usually is exynos models the one that have development.

Hold on a little bit ,the phone isn't that old yet ,and source codes has been recently released so it will take some time for developers to pick up , especially that SD675 is a very new chip

Oddly there are two different versions. Even more oddly, searching for "970" (the generic number for the Optimus G) the Sprint version is the only one available, even though the International and AT&T versions have already been released.
I don't suppose this will help much in getting the bootloader unlocked but good to have at least. Will be useful if we do. No one is worse than HTC about releasing source.

Most devices don't get the resources that sextape gave us, so they rely on guesswork primarily. We are very lucky to have thecubed also who is doing all of the actual unlocking and has experience with lg devices and bootloaders.

And I grabbed the kernel source before I saw this and I will build if someone can pull the ramdisk. I need all the init and ueventd files and everything in sbin.

I have my G pre-ordered on Sprint so if you still need those I'll be happy to do what I can as soon as I get the phone. I'm not super smart with this stuff but I can follow directions on adb

Hey, i want to ask something, is that possibilty to get "an unlocked bootloader" is just for spirint,at&t or something related to carrier? I'm living in turkey and probably i will be able to get international one but i don't want to live with lg updates forever, so could you guys give me an idea?
Sorry for my awful english and ignorance...

I'm assuming that if one gets unlocked, then the process for unlocking the other variants will be fairly the same if not the exact same. So if one gets unlocked, then they should all be able to be unlocked, assuming that all of the variants are locked down the same. Someone please correct me if I'm mistaken.
Awesome. I really wanted a Nexus 4 but I guess I'll settle for it's step brother.

Great news- about to pre-order, think a non-removable battery is a deal breaker? Invariably seems I need to pull the battery at some point.

I don't think it's a problem. I have a Nexus 7 with a sealed battery and I've never had to worry about it. Any times that it completely locked up (including while in fastboot), I can hard reset it by holding all the buttons down for a while.

Thanks, never had a phone with a fixed battery- don't need an expensive-- but good looking-- paperweight.

Agreed. Same for my galaxy tab 10.1. You'd think it'd be an issue, but there are other ways to enhance the juice pack and other ways to force reboots.

Am seriously considering this for my next phone. Does anyone know if any devs will soon be supporting this device? I'm not one to have blind faith.

I doubt it. If you want roms, you should look at the HTC one, gs4 or note 2. This phone isn't popular enough probably because it launched so close to the other big ones and is only available on att.

I dunno. @thecubed doesn't own this phone and @designgears mentioned that he bought it because of the locked bootloader, implying be didn't want to flash stuff. Then again, he essentially let cubed brick his phone so apparently his addiction still had him in a strangle hold.
It will happen, but how long and when it does how many roms will we see.
I'm mainly looking for the ability to restore my phone if I bootloop which I already have.

G3 development be as good as G2?

I use to have G2 and got a Flex right before the G2 got KitKat since I got a deal on it. The Flex development seems like it's dead already or never really took off. I'm just wondering if the G3 development will be as good as G2? LG is making it harder to unlock the bootloader right?

No, the most powerful recognized developers in their monthly meeting in a secret location decided that the G3 will be ignored and all mentioning will lead to a permaban.
There will be no development for the G3!
Like the phone never existed.
It name equals to an iPhone in these parts.
....You can't predict those things
However the G3 is not a worth bump for most of the ppl in here.
Would say you should have stayed with the G2 in the first place.
But my best guess G3 will have a better future in here as the current Flex. Hopefully not as good G2 because I do not plan to go to the G3

LoL. ^ I never keep any phone more then 6 months to a year if that. I'm a phone junkie and that's what I do plus I have Jump to use. I'll probably just do the same thing I did last year G2 to Flex. This year G3 to Flex 2. Or maybe even a iPhone 6. Haha

Lol I would have to strongly disagree, unless you were indeed being humorous.
LG G3 will have an similar of not better development than g2 and Ohhh more recognition also.

Can someone please explain this to me? I am confused as to why there is so little development for the phone. Not whining, because The phone works pretty damn well as stock. Just find it odd there is little to no development. I came from a Note II and there was a TON of options for that one.

Honestly though that hasn't really been my experience in the past. My sprint Note II had all kinds of development! I am just extremely surprised to see little to no development for the flagship phone - especially no CM. I havn't checked, but do other carriers have more development for their s6? Does CM exist on any s6 variant?
As a side note, I am very happy with the phone either way. I got the free hot spot mod without root and I live in an area with sprint spark - which is insanely fast. I think Sprint has come a long way with their service actually, and I am quite pleased for the most part. But still curious about the lack of dev.

I honestly think we would have a good amount of rom development because of the price of the phone and the specs you get for the price is pretty much unmatched. In some cases our phone is better than the 7 Pro.
I honestly wanted the Pixel 4 XL but once I saw the specs and the price I was like no way. Just have patience and I'm sure you'll be rewarded.

haha! The phone barely came out. Just wait. Official ROMs will come and then the developers will move to it and we'll have an abundance of custom roms you can pick from all day long.

Android 10 has changed a lot with devices launched with it, so development such as TWRP will probably take some time.
However, kernels can be unified with the 7 Pro series, ElementalX has added test support for 7T series.
