My configuration - LG V30 Guides, News, & Discussion

(FOR LG -H930)
Hello,
I want to share the configuration with which I have been more comfortable with this phone. as always the customs roms have their risks
After trying the following roms & kernels:
Stock rom + lg package disabled
Ion Ios Pie
Havoc Os
Crdroid
ResurrectionRemix 7.0
Bootleggers ROM 4.2 Pie
Pixel Experience
I think I've found the configuration that works best for me:
ROM = LiquidRemix 10.0
KERNEL = AK3Tachyon Enhance EAS T110
OPEN GAPPS = Nano version
CAMARAS
GCAM FOR THE WIDE LENS - DAY PHOTOS - PORTRAIT MODE
GCAM - NIGHT PHOTO
OPEN CAMERA FOR VIDEO RECORDING
* the gcams give me problems with the sound in the video recording, so I use this app
MAGISK MODULES
I know it is designed for other stock versions, but the sound is achieved in both speakers, a non-functional camera app will be installed, with no use of it.
AnxiousV30
OTHER MAGISK MODULES
PIX3LIFY
XMLPAK
YOUTUBE VENCED BLACK
WEB BROWSER
MINT BROWSER
DEVICE CONFIGURATION
Inside Settings we have the liquid lounge section, I have configured this to use the mobile with gestures:
Activate the gestures in: Gestures / Edge gestures, there are different options but this is the one that works best for me
In the screen settings I have the background color in black
With this configuration I get the following:
Stability: I have not rebooted or frozen my phone
Speed: Much difference with some other roms based on aosp and above all compared to stock
Battery: Here one of the main reasons, before almost didn't reach 4 hours screen .. now, usually reach 6, great change!

I run the stock US998 20H on my V30, rooted with Magisk, no modules in use. Hardly anything is really customized I suppose, I do use dark mode wherever possible and I do have the Dark G8 Theme installed from the Play Market. My brightness is always set to 50% unless I'm watching videos (75%) or outside (90%) but I never go higher than that - 100% brightness is bad for OLED technology especially wherever pure white is shown so I avoid full brightness always.
I keep my cellular radio off at home because I only use Google Voice - I don't give out my carrier number to anyone (there's only like 3 people + the carrier that have it) and since I'm always on Wi-Fi at home (Gigabit connection) I have absolutely no reason to have that active. Google Voice does all my voice calls, SMS/MMS, Hangouts (SMS), etc so I'm good there.
Typical SOT? 9+ hours on a charge and that is without using Battery Saver, which I never use, and that is also with a charge from about 88% down to 5% give or take a percentage point either way. The other day I actually got almost 12.5 hours of SOT but I spent a lot of time watching some TV shows ("Billions," a fantastic show, and I basically marathoned the entire 1st season so that was most of the screen on time).
I don't use a lot of things running in the background, in fact I tend to close out apps when I have no reason to leave them in the background whether they go idle or not. I have never thought that using apps like Greenify can help since it's yet another program that does use resources and does require background operation - it's just easier to close the apps I'm not using and be done with it and know for a fact they're not consuming battery.
I use Flipboard quite a bit every day, LiveNewsOn for watching MSNBC/CNN occasionally, Google News multiple times a day, Discord and Hangouts for chatting purposes, not a whole lot else really. I don't do "social media" stuff so no Facebook/etc kinda crap. LG Package Disabler Pro (purchased a long time ago) was used after a clean install of the OS to ensure what I don't need to be there and running isn't there and running.
Only phone that's ever given me this kind of battery life - and I plug in to charge once every 2-3 days, seriously - was a Samsung Galaxy S Active 7 with a 4000 mAh battery, I could run that device for 3+ days with 14+ hours of SOT most every single charge and I really do miss it.
Anyway, I do love this V30 for a variety of reasons but that crazy 9+ hours of SOT on a charge is probably my most favorite aspect so far.
Pics or it didn't happen...
First one was from a few weeks ago with ~9.25 hrs/SOT, the second from a few days ago with ~12.5 hrs/SOT, and again, I don't use Battery Saver at all, if I did, or if I lowered the brightness to 50% or less when watching videos, I'd probably go well past 15+ hrs/SOT without breaking a sweat. The ~9.25 hrs/SOT did have me charging it from my laptop's USB port for about 30 minutes, had to plug it in to move some movie files over to the device so that's why you see the slight rise in the middle there, but the ~12.5 hrs/SOT was done straight off the battery, the charge it had when I disconnected from the charger was 89% so, if it had been a full 100% charge, that would more than likely be close to 15 hrs/SOT. Might have to test that sometime and see if a 100% to 5% run could do that much SOT.
No issues with the stock ROM, no crashes, no force closes, performance is great, I have no complaints whatsoever.

Great post. Thanks for sharing your setups, I will give these suggestions a try once I get mine rooted.

After 2 days of owning a defy ... my thoughts and a n00bs guide

I only got the phone 2 days ago, coming from a Nokia 5800 (which I loved), its worlds apart and a very worthy upgrade. I'm totally new to Android and everything about it, but I'm fairly sure I've digested enough information over the past 2 days to set my phone up properly.
So for any other n00bs, this is some of the info I've setup on mine.
Rooting
This is a must, the z4root (1.3 version) app will take care of your permanent rooting needs. Be sure to leave the "USB Debugging mode" on for ever.
Blur
Love it, keep it, I don't think there's any performance hit with it running. But if you don't like it, don't go to the lengths of removing all the apk's manually - just don't register/sign-up when the phone is very first turned on (or if the phone is set-up, then you can backup with TB and factory reset the data, but don't set-up Blur).
Overclocking and undervolting (ie. Battery!)
800MHz doesn't *quite* cut it, the phone is a little laggy and unresponsive. The app to get first is SetVSEL (on Android market), I've got mine setup and stable with:
300MHz / 26
600MHz / 34
1100MHz / 58
And a priority of 60%. Then enable the setting to limit to VSEL1 when the screen is off. A priority any higher than 60% makes the phone really lag when trying to turn the screen back on/answer calls etc. from an idle state.
This took the phone immediately from a 5hr maximum battery life on idle to over 13 hours (still not impressive, but miles better!).
Then upgrade the ROM to the JIT enabled version http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893291
Backing Up

5 hour battery life on idle... that's why people don't like Blur!
I don't use any Blur widgets at all - although I have't removed them - and on the stock ROM will easily get 2 days battery life on idle, hell I can get 2 days with moderate usage!

If you are coming from U.S. t-mobile, there is no way you can bypass Blur, other than flash to "foreign firmware".
Once you registered and use Blur, you got bunch of useless app running on the background, news/weather/social and etc that can NOT be stopped, unless you root and remove them. ( it seems to be constantly u/d link your status to the world, I rather have my own privatcy control )
Blur Contact also another quick way to confuse the crap out of my contact and produce annoying double list.
Plus, unless you are on Froyo, you don't get to disable "Data Enabled" under Data Delivery. ( yes, you can install APNdroi or similar app to stop Data access when not in used, but it will just be another program running on the background )
Anyway, I really appreciate all these genius in the forum who creats so many different custom ROM and firmware for me to "upgrade".
I don't think it is possible to skip the blur account setup.
Other then that I am not convinced that any deep customization is necessary to make the DEFY a great phone.
I rooted the phone to rename/remove some unnecessary apps (e.g. amazonmp3). but after the earpiece problem I got my phone back with the original firmware restored. because I was lazy I didn't bother rooting and renaming/deleting. just installed launcher pro and advanced task killer. result: same performance improvements as with the rooted one before!
I just run a quadrant benchmark: 1073 points!
note that my defy is not really de-blured. I just installed launcher pro to stop that terrible blur launcher. even my task killer settings are conservative.
battery life is also not that bad: weekdays it is just a bit over a day (~30h). weekends depending on what I do. this weekend I am sitting home and still have 40% battery after having it disconnected from charger on friday morning.
bottom line: rooting is recommended to do some maintenance stuff (backups, firewall, etc.). using an alternative launcher is a MUST (launcher pro works best for me, but there are others too). however, renaming or deleting apps is not a good idea because of the heavy system integration of blur crap motorola did.

hey just a tip, install recovery, or, as your phone is just very young.
connect it to a power plug everytime when charging (not pc-usb, real power supply) and let i load as long as possible (3-4 hours max is enough) try to repeat this process 3-6 times and you'll get the maximum battery life.
works great! :=)
i resetted my battery stats once after a rom upgrade and the battery lasted for about as u said, 3-5 hours... i thought that i had destroyed my phone or similar, but after these complete charges, everything worked as it should again
would suggest it for any power driven device
My handset has the custom Defy recovery installed already (first thing) as per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893291
Its only charged off mains power, but to be honest, I've only had it 3 days now, and I've been using it so much in the past day tweaking it, that I haven't had a chance to see what I'll get our of it.
Those talking about de-bluring, theres a really easy non-root method to do it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=943134
You don't realyl need to OverClock unléess you're playing a game on PSX4DROID...
i use 1200 mhz @ 58 and it's quite stable tbh. Haven't done much testing but the temp stays at 42°c
I'm actually concerned about the temperature of CPU...how high can it go until cou is likely to get effected?
I am a noob too. I came from spica, so i used android before and flashed some roms, but i only playing for the Defy for a day and i have some question. I bought one with 2.21 DE with blur, the phone was fast but the unlock slider lagged like hell, and after a call, the call summary was displayed for at least 10-15 seconds.
I flashed a 2.51 CE firmware on the device and it is generally much faster, but the call summary is still locking the phone for too long time(I rooted the phone overclocked, factory reseted done everything, but nothing helps, somtimes it is better after restart). Does anyone knows why?
Another thing, i know that 2.51 is undowngradeable.I read that i cannot flash most of the cooked ROMS and the chineese and beta froyo ROMs, but th phone is fast, and i got enough of cooked and alfa, beta ROMs during my spica period, and no way i want to go back to 2.21 so that is not a problem, but when the official UK or CE Froyo comes out, i will be able flash the sbf with RSD lite or I am locked to that firmware forever? And if someone updated the Defy to 2.51 with OTA, not RSD lite made the Defy undowngradeble?
Sorry for the lot of talk and thank you for your answers in advance
Just a note if you update to the new Blur you won't be able to use z4root. You need Super1Click (ver 2.51). Here is a post on it from Moto. https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/44255?start=0&tstart=0 And here is another from XDA. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11151470#post11151470
Thank you for your tips.
I came from 5800 either

Press the Menu button (the hardware button with the 4 squares) and a menu pops up with "Skip Setup" listed. ^^
very good info, will try Titanium Backup Pro
You can use the phone without being logged into Blur. Shut the phone off and then go to myblur.com and change your password. Follow the directions and when done turn the phone back on and you will get an error that either the user ID or PW is wrong. All the other functions will work. For me the phone seemed real laggy running like this as it was trying to call home all the time.

Yeah there is something wrong then if that is happening. I use a Defy and a DHD, and days I only use the DHD, and let my Defy just sit there, it can go three days before it even gets to 80%.
3 days before it gets to 80% ....yeah right
my defy eats 5-10% per 6hours in idle ... and thats at 300/16vsel setting, stock 2.1 rom, and skipped blur setup
and with moderate use ...i get around 48hours out of it
so how could yours be at 80% after 3days being idle is beyond me ...what rom are u using & what idle settings?
Mine only uses 4% battery when idle for 8 hours over night with the alarm clock programmed to go off so i guess that would be around 12% / 24 hours if left in standby / idle.
Running stock 2.1 but overclocked and undervolted with setvsel.
300 / 20
700 / 32
1100 / 56
75% threshold.
I also use droidwall to enable only what i want to access wifi or data but not sure if that would help when the phone is idle.
I use
300/16
600/36
1000/56
80%threshold
droidwall wouldnt help me since i dont have 3g connection set up and i only turn wifi on when i need it ...
does your 2.1 rom come with motoblur or without?
I wish my defy would eat only 4% per 8hours =/
Hi,
Yes mine has Blur installed & I normally only have the weather programme running.

How my G3 went from 1h SOT in 6h to 4-5h SOT over 17h period

I use and love LG G3 D855 international version
I almost went completely mental trying to discover and fix what caused my battery to drain from 100% to zero in 5-6 hours with about 1 lame hour SOT. Believe me i tried freaking everything, from obbsessing about wakelock (everytime I killed one i was rewarded with 4 or 5 new ones in return) to installing multiple battery savers every week to try if they worked, Most do not! I searched XDA Threads and reddit, i even started few threads asking for help, nothing worked. Until I changed my thinking and demands for useless (but cool) tweaks.
Here's what i did, or did not do :
I installed CloudyG3 Rom version 1.2 I got rid off all battery savers/tweakers, i did not install Xposed Frameworks (witch was the hardest one to get rid off because im heavily used to some tweaks available there) I know Xposed by itself does not drain battery, but i've learned that many of the tweaks are not coded good enaugh so they drain alot. (while others are perfect and work fine) but i don't feel like sort out the good from the bads, i now know that all of them can be lived without.
I also got rid of all battery monitoring software, many of them do take to much juice by monitoring my system.
The rom is rooted, i got "superSU", "Busybox", "titanium backup", "root explorer" and some other root apps for the basics. I leave all system or ui tweaks apps out, they're easy to live without and some drain alot of juice. I even skipped installing Greenify, wich has done amazing job on my previous devices, but somehow was not on my G3 (i know i couldn't belive it myself)
I on the other hand have Android device manager active and screen on "auto" with the slider in full. For the first week or two i had all systems on, i had wifi and data both always on and gps and location services, i want to be able to use the device to it's fullest, but that can cost juice. It was fine, i got about 2.5 - 3 hours screen on time over 15-17h period, witch did not fully satisfy my needs, though it was a step up from the 1 - 1.5h I had before.
So i figured to use tasker to automate everything i liked, but i don't find tasker user experience good enaugh, it's too much too learn and get right for a "player" like me. So after googling for few minutes i installed app called AutomateIt Pro (there is a free version but i bought it to get more triggers, like cell tower based trigger. AutomateIt Pro i use to turn on wifi and disable data when im home or at office, and when i leave those places it does the opposite (wifi off, data on) , I leave Location disabled but make it enable when i open apps that uses it like maps, (and of cource disable it again when apps closes) and if i loose the phone i can enable both gps and sounds by sending a password by sms, that way i can use Android Device manager if it's gets lost.
I have few more tweaks there but those are the ones that saves my battery, the others i use for my special needs like disable screen rotation unless apps of my choice are open. and some others probably not worth to mention. I find this app easy to use and does it's job well. There are actually many apps that can do the same, like Tasker, Trigger and some others, but this one worked for me.
The results are quite good, i get 4-5 hours screen on time over 17-20 hour period, thats more than a day so usually it's about 30% battery left when i plug it in and go to sleep. the 4-5 hours suit my usage so im really happy after trying almost every trick in the book, and even trying to discover new ones to fix my horrible previous battery life.
In ending i want to say i am no expert, I know quite little about Android insides or how it works. But i´m a heavy user with more knowledge of the basic stuff than the people around me. Feel free to try out what i did, but i can in no way guarantee they will work or if they are useless. I share all the stuff that i did, some obviously are helping while some are not and did not need to be done, but my device is now as i like it to be and i don't have the time to go into finding out witch ones are doing the trick. All the changes i did are pretty basic so you shouldn't be able to damage anything, unless you're an idiot of course
Sorry about my english, it's not my first language and it gets rusty when not used regularly.
I hope this way to long madness will help those in same problems that i was in....
Interesting post. As what I've seen in the play services greenifying thread, Cloudy rom users have already an amazing battery life, looks like all the debloating is useful.
I have debloated my F460 from all the korean crap and compared to my girlfriend's, which is untouched, it is noticeable.
I get easily 2.5 or 3h of SOT, with location reporting on, and tasker for automating things like wifi on/off, measuring my commuting time from my car bluetooth to my house/work wifi, or refreshing some custom zooper widgets when screen is on (namely how long I have been working).

Yeah im really glad i finally got things going with this great device...
But Zooper widgets? are they worth it? i tried them (some time ago) and it jumped to nr 2 or 3 in battery usage list. When i see something like that i instantly delete, i have zero patient for useless (often cool though) tweaks that drain my juce.
Believe me i will be the first one to say yes to bigger screens and faster hardware, but the battery life has to come first, otherwise all the goods are completely useless
I agree, but Tasker and location reporting are one of the things that I most want to keep in my device. I have verified that mobile data consumes way much more than wifi connection (maybe because tasker needs to query more and for longer time for my location based events?). Anyhow, today I am at 75% of battery with 45 mins SOT and 8h35m running on battery. I am satisfied, yet I always try to improve this time.

[SETUP] Share your Current Rom Status Honestly?

This is a general discussion thread. You can share your Current setup of Robin, it would be helpful for us to know which ROM can be used as Our daily driver.
_____________________________________________________________
I'm currently using OmniRom's last build with Magisk module cross-breeder lite edition.
It's giving me Quite decent performance and Battery life.
Normally on continuous usage, it lasts almost 5-6 hrs on single charge.
_____________________________________________________________
If anyone getting a better Battery life, don't hesitate to post below.?
Post-Credit: @me ?
Thanks for sharing, I cannot give screenshots for everything here. I might have them but have to dig into the folder of screenshots but for now here is my battery experience over all.
I have used PA, Carbon and Omni extensively. So everything below is not a ROM review but its battery usage over all with them.
P.S. : For all ROMs, I use Greenify and Doze mode (within ROM, if not available then via NapTime).
PA for me has always been close to stock nothing great maybe a bit better. But because of its roaming issue I stopped using it. And switched to carbon.
Carbon is far better than PA and has very little standby/idle drain but it started giving me a weird 20-25% battery cut off issue and device used to shut down randomly anytime below 25% so I switched to Omni.
Omni has fared pretty well for me. Unlike other ROMs I get consistent battery life i.e. 3-4hrs SOT over a period of 10-15hrs. The ROM seems far more stable and there aren't any random battery drains. Omni sometimes behaves a bit erratic when using new camera apps i.e. first few times it would drain battery a lot but later it works fine. Its the device or ROM I don't know.
For Duo video calls it isn't so great after 30-40mins of call the battery is down by 30% maybe. But that is fine I guess the video call is on data too. So Robin isn't so great for that sort of heavy use in general I guess.
Here is my most heavy use day (on all ROMs) for which 10-12hrs is most the device can sustain.
Morning (for the device) starts at about 6:30-7am.
Its day starts with 96-100%; no matter how much juice it has I make sure I unplug anywhere above 95%.
My usage isn't heavy but I use data(3G/4G) 90% of the time,
Location/GPS is ON for about 40-80mins,
Voice calls ~30-90mins in total, (Most are cellular, 5-10mins VoIP calls)
60-90mins podcast/music, Podcasts which I listen are downloaded before but music is streamed via NewPipe ,
Mail, Twitter, Excel, Pocket app, Camera is used in between randomly.
I don't watch much YouTube on the device maybe a couple of 2-3mins clips, I mostly scroll YouTube to add them to watch later for watching on desktop,
SOT ~3hrs
I have to plug the device by 6-7pm with all that usage. Because by that time its about 15%. And for me Robin at 15% means about 10-15mins of use.
For not so heavy use days the device lasts from 7am to 9pm with SOT of ~3-3.5hrs + voice calls of 30-60mins + 40-60mins GPS/location.
Since Android N I haven't touched 4hrs+ SOT over a period of 10-15hrs of usage sadly.
That only happens if I unplug the device and use it continuously for 4-5hrs reading maybe with no waste in idle drain or data or wifi or push notifs etc. But that isn't a case of regular use for me so I will disregard that.
I have recently started using interactive governors like GlassFish and FairPark but can't say they have helped much. Standby/Idle drain is as low as 1-2% over 4-5hrs.
If you are getting 4hrs+ SOT over a longer charge time of 10-12hrs, I am all ears and want to know what different do you do.
I use Omni with Unicornblood kernel and Hawktail profile in Ex Kernel manager. I also use greenify and naptime. I'd say on average I can get between 3 and 4 hours SOT. On the lower end will be days where I'm out and about a lot so I'm on data, lots of idling, random browsing, reddit, messenger, etc. Usually have spotify running in my car through bluetooth. On the higher end will be days where I'm playing on my phone most of the day, with little screen off time, I can probably push over 4 hours on those days.
Today I've been off the charger for 10 1/2 hours, I have 1 1/2 hours of SOT. I spoke on the phone for about 15 minutes, browsed the internet a bit, some instagram, messaging, etc. and I still have 54% left.
I've tried Paranoid Android and LOS.
With PA the battery on my Robin drains like crazy and I noticed some heat problems as well.
As for LOS, it gives me quite decent battery life but had issues with the power button, the phone struggles to wake sometimes.
Should I try Omni then?

Sadly there is no perfect ROM every ROM has some issue. The only question is if you can live with that issue.
The only reason for me to stop using PA was it won't work on roaming. But if PA has been stable and battery drain was the only issue try using Greenify and Naptime. The combination of both can drastically bring down your battery drain. And then use some interactive cpu governors aimed for battery life it should bring down drain to as low as 1-2%.
If you are looking for a different better ROM to try then surely try omni, Omni has been great for me so far and has no major issues as such.

Omni, however, doesn't have Qualcomm's hotplugging solution, so both big cores are always on all the time and draining battery whenever your screen is on. Gandalf also messed something up with the kernel sources and broke NFC, requiring you to flash a kernel from an Omni weekly from around June-ish or July-ish to restore that functionality.
If you're patient enough, javelinanddart and Sultanxda will soon figure out how to fix the wake-on-plug lag in LineageOS. Hopefully, they'll also start on figuring out the power-button-not-waking-device issue afterwards.
EDIT: oops. Though javelinanddart proooobably found what might be causing the power-button-not-waking-device issue? Haven't had it happen on his LOS 15.1 unofficials yet so...
I am currently using Lineage 14.1-14.1-20180321 and eagerly awaiting the 'official' release of 15.1. I typically do not update to every weekly build. I usually watch the change logs and update only when the new security patches are released. Provided that update is stable (i.e. fast, everything works, no crashes) I will continue on with that build until the next security patch is released. More often than not, there are no issues, as I have found Lineage to be stable and fast.
I am running non-rooted, and I re-locked my bootloader. As a result, Google Pay is working well, without the use of Magisk.
I run Nova Prime launcher, and do not have a vast amount of apps installed:
Music - Google Play Music, Spotify, Amazon Music
Email and Calendar - Outlook, GMail, Google Calendar
Assistant - Google Assistant
Office Suite - Docs, Sheets, Drive, MS One Drive, Word, Excel, Google Keep, One Note
Camera - Stock lineage OS camera, Snapseed (editing)
Messaging - stock AOSP / Lineage OS messaging app
Video - YouTube, Netflix, Hulu (I only use YouTube to be honest... have the other two because of Chromecasting)
Misc - Google Home, Amazon Kindle
I list all those apps to say that given the relative few apps I use, I have all day battery life, for the most part. I am not a heavy user, but I check email multiple times a day, as well send/receive a LOT of MMS/SMS messages throughout the day. I generally only watch video on my phone (YouTube mostly) at home, and I generally cast it to my TV so that the Chromecast does the heavy lifting.
Overall, I have been very happy with Lineage. I finally settled on Lineage after growing disgruntled with AOSPA. The stock ROM (I gave it a good, honest shot at one point) could not cut it because of the lack of stability, heat issues, Bluetooth issues, and no updates.
I have only run into one issue (on a previous build) where by no doing of my own, the screen went blank on a full battery and would not turn on. I though the phone was essentially bricked. Held down power + volume down for 60 seconds (actually had to do this a few different times) and all was resolved. Still do not know why this happened.
Hopefully this helps someone...

Thank you for replying with so much detail. But a bit of numbers would help in terms of battery life you get from your usage and setup.
Typical phone idle time and SOT. Gives a rough idea of the battery drain in standby.

I am more curious about this. So after flashing LOS you flash back the stock recovery and lock the bootloader? But when you flash back TWRP to install the updated LOS do you lose all your data again or what? Can you tell me the process you follow, I would love to do it but I find backing up and restoring everything for every update is tiresome and a little annoying. Even if one opts to only update for major releases once a month or few months I am not a fan of backup and restore process quite often.

I do not have any detailed battery metrics, but I will start tracking this and get back to you.
Regarding your question about re-locking the bootloader... I am still running TWRP, just with a locked bootloader. I did not flash back to the stock recovery. After unlocking the bootloader, installing TWRP and ROM of choice, it is simply a 'fastboot oem lock' command. I cannot remember off hand, but I do believe that the OS was reset when I did that.
My setup. Works very well. I think omni is the best ROM available.

Same ROM version, same Magisk version but I still get the SafetyNet API Error.

Do you have /system modified? Or xposed installed? Those will cause safetynet to fail.

Not using xposed.
Does using EXKM for CPU governors constitute to being a /system modification? Then I guess that would be the cause.

Samsung Galaxy S20 - Fast Battery Drain..

Hello.
I bought my S20 few days a go, with device everything is great but, my battery is terrible,
I use it every half hour to see do i have new notifications, messages, new posts on instagram and thats it.
I dont play android games or etc.
But with this minimal usage im losing 50% of battery @ work, and i use phone max 1h SOT in 7h of work time.
I tried Naptime but naptime only save my battery when phone is locked, but when im using phone im losing % very very fast.
My settings: Location , bluetooth, NFC disabled. Facebook in hibernation, and i disabled all bloatware with ADB uninstall.
And im using 120hz.
Normally with my settings on other phones i get very good battery life.
I do not want to root my phone, but is there any solution how to get more battery life on S20?
Thanks
Disable all power management except the screen setting which should be set to Optimize.
Disable all cloud apps, all device feedback, Google Transport, Goggle Transport Framework and Playstore. All autoupdates.
See my other posts on this ( good luck with that).
A package blocker is more effective for troubleshooting on the fly. I'm running Pie and Q gives you less tools to see what's going on.
Karma Firewall* is useful to lockdown Goggle Play Services* (a known serial offender) and others.
Nonetheless you need to find the troublemakers as you're burning up the battery.
Play with it... this may take a while.
*you lose its logging ability with Q I believe. A major hit if so.
**toggle on/off as needed.

I looked up every aplication, service and everything is ok, maybe device need to adapt to my usage.
*Device is 2 days old*
But, i did not fully discharged battery on my first use. Can that be the problem?
I know i had to do it but i forgot that.
I had S10+ before this device.
Im using same settings and apps. But difference in battery life is big.

Unfortunately you'll need to track it down; no one size fits all. You need to figure out which system and 3rd party apks are responsible.
Use what tools are available and ones you can find for that OS.
Even with all syncing disabled on my 10+ Goggle Play Services relentlessly connects 4 times a minute with the internet. Blocking it toned it's battery usage down.
Brave browser is a hog and will run in the background unless forced stopped; closing its window does nothing.
Fun times... Google did nothing to address this and in fact has been making troubleshooting harder with each new OS using security as a ploy.
I ran Kitkat until last year. In 6 years I've never been forced to reload due to malware... bite me Google. Yeah viruses, trojans, etc are real and can/do infect Androids but almost always it's the user's fault. Transparency is what's needed not scoped storage and more user/apk inaccessibility.

Let it settle in for a week. You shouldn't need to disable any packages to get good battery . My s20 gets 6.5-7hr sot without disabling anything and just using the 120HZ medium power saving Bixby routine trick , 5.5-6 hrs on optimized . Don't listen to those who say you have to disable a **** ton of stuff and basically cripple your phone...you absolutely don't .

Depends on the device, the firmware and what's loaded including carrier and Sammy junk.
I've tried it every which way and now have about 86 apks blocked. Some like Playstore and Galaxy updates get toggle on as needed which isn't often.
Every time with power management when it was used it seemed to work but within a few days it became the problem with excessive power consumption.
Plus and even worse it will screw up phone functionality constantly and inexplicably at times.
Android will manage power and go into deep sleep with all buckets active; no power management needed... at least on my configuration.
Because of the time and trouble invested as well as trash features like scoped storage I refuse to go to Q. This 10+ will most likely run happily on Pie and many of its factory loaded google apks.
Yes updates can and will screw things up; update one or two at a time, observe.
Having a fast, stable, predictable system that runs well with good battery life and does what you want is all that really matters with Android.
Security is very rarely an issue even on ancient software if you aren't inept.
As is I'm ready to do a full reload if needed, be back and running in 2 hours and 99% fully configured by that day with bare minimal internet connection required.
My S20 (Exynos) battery life seems to have improved since the Android 11 / UI 3.0 update.
For sure it isn't perfect but : about 4h SOT and 25% left.

Disable all power management except for screen/power mode.
Android does nicely by its self.
The only thing you should have toogled on is fast charging if you use it. Try it.
Once you got it running well be very careful of updates especially firmware. At least wait a while to see if it blows up the phones of others using it.

Question Anyone getting bad battery life?

Hello, i've got this 12X for a few months now and i'd like to ask if i'm supposed to get more than 7 hours battery life SoT and (sometimes around 4 hrs with the annoying gallery bug) because people told me they could make it last over 2 days watching movies, playing games etc and i can barely bring it home after school. Please reply, thanks
Switch 120hz to 60hz and find out, which app takes the most energy. My phone needs the most energy for the display.
which rom?
I'm on Taiwan rom ( basically is global rom with MIUI dialer). Already deloated and turned off xiaomi ads & other sync services. I can easily reach 30h+ and 9h SOT.
Things you should try:
- Get universal android debloat. Uninstall things you don't need. Recommend tab won't cause bootloop.
- MIUI has built in ads. Google it and disable them
- Use Naptime to fix battery drain during sleep
- Turn off services that you don't need (cloud, sync, google)
- Read and do this (this is only recommended on new phone or rom, in your case it might not be helpful but worth a try) xiaomi.eu/community/threads/tutorial-battery-drain-lag-after-os-update.58011/
Using Xiaomi.eu 13.0.7.0 and i go to work with 100% at the morning. I come back with ~50% with 5G always activated and 120Hz. My usage is TextMessage, social network, and listen to music. I think it depends on your usage. What is it ?
