Fast download of official firmware - Samsung Galaxy A50 Guides, News, & Discussion

Most of the sites listing Samsung firmware provide "Unlimited Speed" download as a premium option and limit the free download to a pitiable 15 KB/sec.
IMEI.info allows you to download the firmware at full speed. It will initially download a 11MB file called Samsung Hard Downloader after you select the CSC which then allows you to download the latest firmware for that CSC, presumably directly from Samsung.
At the time of this writing, for A505F, the Indonesia/Thailand/Malaysia firmware are at ASE6 whereas others are at ASE3, ASE2, ASD6 and even ASD5. Hence, I always end up flashing the firmware from one of these CSCs and they work fine. Moreover, the bloatware is far less compared to something like INS and all of the region-specific apps added at setup are uninstallable.

Why download a third party untrusted app when you could download at full bandwidth from Samsung servers directly through Samfirm?

SamFirm is also a third party tool which is officially marked as deprecated by the author, though it still works in most cases. The download source and file is identical for both, so there is no benefit either way.
Just posting another full-speed option since a lot of people would land up on SamMobile or SamFrew when searching for a firmware which have premium unmetered download options. Also, it is easier to check the latest firmwares for various CSCs from the website.

Hi
Can you please give me a hand finding a link to the stock Rom for Galaxy tab 3 8" so that I can restore my tablet back to default setup, I could find practically every ROM under the sun but I cannot find the United Kingdom variant
Please Help
Miko
The closet i could find is this..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2547412
bin droid - it's stock rom OC to 1.8 but with aroma installer so u can remove bloatware.
You could install this and remove nothing and install non of the addons and be pretty close to stock.

I'm hoping to restore the tablet to factory stock! So ideally I need a link to the official Samsung UK ROM and as I said I can find every variant but not UK.
As a last resort! What would happen if I installed a Different countries ROM on my tablet ? Would it just not be compatible?
www(.)sammobile.com/firmwares/
just enter your model number and region on the webpage.
If you're flashing official stock rom, it doesn't matter what country it is, there could be just different bloatware.

If it's Wi-Fi model, T310 see here - http://fileom.com/2p6cexm0dxnw/T310XXUAMF1_OXXAMF1_BTU_UK_Android_4.2.2.zip.html

Download that and checked the CSC. By default it is set to NEE (Sweden) so thats not the BTU (UK) version.
It seems to work OK though. Better than the custom Rom I've had. Any implications in terms of updates and stuff like that as a result of potentially having a NON UK variant of the software?

What is the difference between the XAS, and SPR versions of the firmware?

Hi
every time i search for a stock rom i find XAS and SPR versions , what is the difference between them ?
i read a comment that the XAS version is kinda for developers builds, is that correct ?

I don't have enough information about the difference but my device was on SPR and now it changed to XAS.
No thing is different except that Yellow sprint logo changed to Samsung logo and some csc features changed.
My device still working.
I think maybe if any subscriber of sprint network could notice a little more changes.
Since I am not a Sprint subscriber so I don't notice any difference.

They are they same except for csc settings.
SPR will give you sprint branding and csc.
XAS will give you regular samsung branding.
If your using your phone global or gsm like me, I prefer XAS.
I notice most apps that unlock your sim will make it XAS to. So I believe xas sets csc to work better unlocked but don't quote me.
Did it remove that annoying hands free activation???
Which should world or GSM user choose;Sprint or XAF Samsung Note 4 firmware versions?
Hi, am a world/ GSM Note for user. My firmware keeps requesting for update just 60 seconds after prior update. My present software is SPR. My phone heavily discharge and i feel as incriminating the present firmware version and its regular demand for firmware update.
Someone, proposed i download and flash up my phone with latest firmware. At SamMobile, there are options for Sprint and XAF versions of firmware. Please anyone with an advice on selection choice and maybe a little comment.

Still there on the XAS version.
And for the boot sound it has the Note 3/ S4 version instead of the normal S5/Note 4 one.

BRJ5 to Android P Beta

What is the upgrade path from BRJ5 firmware on the G960US?
Does anyone have a reliable link to the Odin files and flashable zips I will need?
TIA.

On another note, just check http://firmware.science for the latest pie updates. Very easy to use, just select your phone model (for example SM-G960U) and then select your current firmware version, and it will give you a list of pie updates. Also as a note, most of the updates branch off from 2 "base" firmware versions (at least this is the case for the SM-G960U). If you happen to have this phone (as I do), I suggest going this firmware route, as its constantly being updated. Get BRJ5 combo firmware (from a site/app like updato), as this will be your restart point for future updates, most update branches start here and stem from BRJ5. From there, you can update to pie with one of the simple " 1 step routes" like (BRJ5 to "pick your update.zip".... Or if you want a more active firmware branch which stems a new update more frequently, start at BRJ5 and download the BRJ5 to BRJ6 update.zip. Then once on BRJ6 there are constant new firmware updates regularly. The most recent I believe at the time of this post is CRLM, so BRJ6 to CRLM. It's easy to figure out once you prod around a little bit, read a bit, and learn a bit.

Sha256sums and firmware obtained online

Right to the point - Sammobile doesn't give you any checksums to cross-reference what you download, and updato tells you even less. How is anyone supposed to confirm beyond a doubt they aren't flashing a complete mess on their phone?

Absolutely, but their authenticity doesn't account for any vulnerabilities I may or may not have when I click that little download link. There being no way to verify would be pretty embarrassing, and I knew XDA would be the place to find out

You're a hero. Samfirm looks a bit depreciated, is Frija still solid in your opinion?
EDIT: By the looks of it, Frija can only be used to download the most current firmware versions? But beyond that, I set it to auto, input "SM-G960W" and "TLS" as the CSC, and it's unable to find anything at all...

Hmm... my input is identical to yours, and version 13 as well, yet nothing... on the topic of recent firmwares only though, is it possible to use the most updated BL, CP, and CSC, while retaining an older AP with the objective being holding my security patch back? That's what I'm really after here, but only if there's checksums involved. If it's possible I'll either keep troubleshooting or go check out samfirm. You've been a ton of help by the way

I wouldn't want to guess, not tried that personally and it's possible it could brick the phone, I know I tried to flash back one older release without wiping and the phone would not log in without SystemUI crashing each time and putting me back to the lock screen
Any reason you want to update BL, CP and CSC?
BL is just bootloader, the latest security patch requires the latest BL, and once you increase your BL version you cannot downgrade again
G960WVLS5CSEA << Version 5
CP is the modem
CSC is just the region
Tbh if you want to stick to the previous AP I would just stick to the full previous firmware rather than risking damaging the phone

Ahh, I was under the impression the android security patch was tied to the AP, but no I'm currently on 3ARH3 and I'd like to keep it that way. But hypothetically doing just CP for possibly better radio service would be okay? AP is essentially Android though right? Flashing a newer AP would increase it as well then correct eh, and don't laugh, but I like keeping my patch (and android 8) rolled back just to reduce the amount of hassle it all causes.
Pretty long reply now, but you seem to know what you're doing, so in short could you give me your best opinion on which of BL, AP, CP, and CSC, I could flash while keeping my android security patch and software version? I'm on this one right now https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s9/firmware/SM-G960W/TLS/download/G960WVLU3ARH3/233729/
EDIT: I've always been able to get out of bootloops and other trouble, is a full blown brick a real thing? Where it's essentially a papweight

AP is the only thing that contains the Android system, so by not flashing that you would avoid the security patch, the BL of the latest patch is required for the latest AP though, so what I am saying is you might run into problems flashing a BL designed for the latest AP but not having the latest AP flashed
Unlikely you will receive better anything by doing this tbh, most likely the CP, BL and CSC updates are purely compatibility updates for the latest AP, perhaps some fixes but nothing mentioned in the release notes other than Bootloader has been updated to meet requirements for latest security patch, all other fixes were for the OS itself (AP)
And I just re-read your post, if you are planning on flashing Android Pie (9) BL, CP and CSC to an Android Oreo (8) AP, you will 100% brick your phone
You cannot mix and match Pie and Oreo firmware
Do not do this

Yea pretty much, but most specifically you cannot partially update to another Android version 8 > 9 and hope to keep some parts 8 and others 9, they are not compatible
It would be like wanting to keep bits of Windows 7 when updating to Windows 10, things would break

If you can put up with me a bit longer I feel like I'm basically wasting a thread now. So wait, so if I stay in android 8 territory there are certain portions I can update? Kind of important but I forgot to mention from the beginning that google play services, the lowest version you can be on is tied to android security patch right? Like for example, I'm on aug 1, and can't go lower than 12.6.89. I just want to keep that, and my security patch, and update all I can

You can update to the latest released Android 8 firmware available for your device, if Aug 1st is the last Android 8 version you cannot go any higher with any of it unless you completely move on to Android Pie 9
Looks like June 2019 is the latest available for the G960W
As for things like Play services I would not know, you could update them manually from apkmirror but might end up having compatibility problems too
Just wanted to post saying I flashed the following via ODIN successfully:
AP: 3ARH3
BL: 3ARH3
CP: 3ARJ6
CSC: 3ARJ6
I stuck to firmware from the same bootloader and android version, as well as used CSC instead of HOME_CSC, if that makes a difference.

Thank you for this. Flashed it after reading this. Working flawlessly.
For those who have already installed it, can you tell me if all the Good Lock modules are still working? In particular, I'm using the larger 10 x 7 Home Screen grid that's only available in HomeUp. I'd appreciate if someone can check if this still works under OneUI 5.0 on the S7+ ?

All Good Lock modules are updated to One ui 5,You just have to install the update after updating to One UI5, worth the redundancy.
I can concur, updated to One UI 5.0 (Android 13) and all seems uber stable and no loss of functionality.
Just received the update on my S7+ in the US. Installing now.
Still no update for my unlocked Fold4 though...

Same, nothing for my ZF4 yet. Not really convinced there's much benefit to OneUI 5.0 on the Tab S7+ so not sure it's such a big deal the ZF4 is laggging a bit.
I installed One UI 5.0 on my regular Tab S7 (11 inch, EUX) and have to admit that I am very dissapointed. Samsung promised way more fluent animations, no annoying start-up lags anymore and an overall improvement in System stability. Non of that happens to be the case. My Tablet feels more laggy, compared to One UI 2.5/3.1.1. Even the Android Easter egg only gets shown on one side instead of full screen, which seems to be bug (No the pictures are not edited)
In my opinion, they rushed this update too fast, so that they can prove the point of releasing updates quicker than ever before now.
I will try out two things this week:
1) Reset the Tablet and see how it performs with 5.0 being freshly, clean installed
2) Downgrade to One UI 3.1, which, for me, was the last update that really changed something noticabely on my Tablet.
I miss those older days (2016-2020 especially), when new Android versions really changed things and introduced cool new stuff. Nowadays, I feel like we're stuck with the same Design and the same features with little to no changes after all.

Android 12 was a big one. But yeah, I also noticed the Easter egg. It doesn’t even work.
Hi all,
I found myself opening a lot of tabs on XDA to figure out on how to upgrade my Tab S7+ Wifi - SM-T970 to newer Firmware versions while retaining Root (magisk). This is why I made myself a short guide. Then I decided to share it with you and the short guide went from short to medium sized.
I hope it helps. (The resources/drivers/programs I used can be found at the bottom of this comment. (no links, but Google will help you out)
Firmware Upgrade Guide Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ | SM-T970 | CSC:EUX | while keeping/retaining Magisk Root.
1.Download Latest firmware on PC via Frija (CSC:EUX & Model:SM-T970 for me)
2.Extract ZIP Open extracted directory and delete ZIP.(I like to keep a clean overview, so optional)
3.In the directory you find BL, AP, CP, CSC & HOME_CSC files. If you use the Wifi only version of the Tablet, you can remove the CP file.
This leaves the BL file (should be left untouched), AP file & CSC & HOME_CSC files.
Choose one of the two CSC files to keep.
4.a. Want to Keep your data? Use Home_CSC....tar.md5 file using ODIN, other file can be removed.
4.b. Factory reset? Use other CSC file instead.
5.Move (not copy, but move) AP file (AP......tar.md5) to Tablet and patch whole file in Magisk (I am using the latest Canary Magisk version)
When this is done, move the patched AP file called magisk_patchedsomethingsomething back to the first extracted directory (step 2) AP-file name does not matter.
Connect tablet to PC with USB.
Using Terminal in ADB directory, use " adb devices" to check if PC can find tablet when tablet operates normally. Use command " adb reboot download" to boot the tablet directly into download mode.
Open ODIN (no settings need to be adjusted in ODIN other than selecting the correct files)
In ODIN,
Select AP ---select ---> magisk_patched.#######.tar
Select BL ---> BL_####.tar.md5
Select CSC ---> HOME_CSC_####.tar.md5
OR use CSC_####.tar.md5 if factory reset is required
Click Start. Wait. And enjoy!
