No Panorama Mode in the G8 Camera. What App are people using instead? - LG G8 Questions & Answers

This has really surprised me as my V20 and V30 both had that option in their excellent camera options menu.

Got it on mine. LG820UM

I have it on the US T-Mobile version, which version do you have?

On the Camera app, swipe the text (Camera, Video) to left and select more, then you will see Panorama.

We even have 360 pano as well, and you can take a vertical pano with the phone held in landscape.
When you tap "more", all the other modes appear. When you tap the pencil icon, you may rearrange the modes in the sliding menu, as well as in the More menu. I have only 5 sliding menu options, so I can see them all without swiping: Pano, AI Cam, Auto, Night, More. Then when I tap More, I have the manual modes at close reach.
Only two issues bother me here (well, 3 really). First, the More menu can sometimes rearrange itself. No matter how many times I try, it still forces AR Stickers to the closest menu item. This wouldn't be an issue if they'd address my second problem and let us hide modes we'll never use. I hate AR stickers, Food mode, and will likely never use Youtube Live. For me these are just overcrowding the menu and wasting space. My third issue is that they never had to redesign the camera app in the first place. The text-based swipe mode menu is a huge waste of space, and it often thinks fine tuning the sliders in Manual is actually a swipe to the next Mode (unless you're jjjuuuuuuust perfect with thumb placement).
LG should not have jumped on the Apple style bandwagon. If we wanted a Korean Apple, we'd buy Samsung. With how un-Apple the restvof the phone is, and how well-designed the app was before, the choice here is a little baffling.

Instructions, including the in-app help text, are incorrect on panorama. DrivenKeys has it right.

In my case (Canadian G8), the panorama and time lapse mode were not installed by default.
When clicking "More", at the top right corner, beside the Pen icon to rearrange the order of the icons, I have a download button.
This brings straight to LG SmartWorld store where pano and time lapse mode are downloadable.
Hope this helps!

Zoom Bar Hacks Wanted

I'm assuming that the zoom bar is just an extension of the resistive touch screen beyond the visible screen, so what are the chances someone will make a program/hack that will let you use it for other functions, like a dpad and a mouse?
TD2 users already have it sort of working as a scroll wheel.
I've been watching the M900 on Pocketnow, and while I'm not swayed, the potential of the navigation functions of the biosensor do wow me. It'd be a welcome addition I think. I'm new to xda-dev, but whenever I've come across the name/link, it's always with effusive praise and admiration. I figure if anyone will, it will be someone here.
Bump for this one!!
As soon as I saw the zoom bar on the TD2 and TP2 and the limited functionality of usage only in messaging, web browsers and pictures, it just screamed hack hack hack
I was also thinking gestures like the Palm Pre...
ooooh... I'm intrigued! I'd like to see what some developers can put together for this. That would be a sweet feature to hack.

Agreed. The zoom bar seemed like a good idea when I first read about it, given the multitouch zooming was a no go with the resistive screen. But then in the reviews, it just seemed so under-utilized.
I'd love to have a configuration utility that let you use it in different ways in different applications, kind of like some screen rotating apps let you set up rotation differently for different apps.
Or like the Jog Dial on the hermes. (only wished the TP2 had that, and it would have been perfect. One handed control of the device...). But it will have to be pretty precise, and it isn't yet.
If it can register touch pressure (tapping) I would like 2 see 4 sectors (up down left right)

D2 Zoombar as buttons request asks for 3 buttons. Hopefully someone will do more.
Would LOVE to see 3 or 4 buttons on the zoom bar!!
(And maybe sliding button 1 to the right or button 4 to the left still means scrolling)

The main screen can tell the difference between a press and a flick, so I imagine the zoom bar could have assigned buttons and still scroll.
Hi All
For my TP2, i'd really like to have Zoom Bar that zooms ....everything!!
I would like to just zoom the screen (any screen) to a larger size. I did kinda think (or at least hope) that it was what it was going to do anyway, not just zooming pictures, browser etc.
I would like the simple (??) funtion of being able to zoom any app, any screen, anything - to be able to read stuff maybe a little more easier.
I do use glasses for reading only and it is a real drag to have to get them out to read a text clearly, or see whose calling or just to get a better look in daylight etc.
A zoom 'anything' or 'any screen' would be really awesome and a supremely useful utilisation of something that is already there. Then you couild just drag the screen around to get to what you want to see better (yes, just like a picture, so basically i guess, the current screen becomes like a picture).
The other ideas of buttons, d pads and so on all sound great too, but this would probably benefit so many people get better use out of their devices.
I wonder if it can be done...????
Cheers and happy TP2ing.

Probably better than just magnifying the screen, for readability in text heavy apps at least, would be setting font sizes to the zoom bar--zoom up, Font Sizes get larger, zoom down, they get smaller. I think that might actually be enabled in some text apps already, but I'm not sure. The touchpad on my Acer Aspire One does this in some word processors.
For things like Caller ID, a screen magnifier would be needed. I'm guessing you'd need a resident program to be able to do this anywhere and everywhere.
Thx fortunz
All true, but wouldn't the simple 'magnify the whole screen' thing be a really (really) good thing to have - and logical too. Just an extension of the way it works for images. Just seems like something that it should do.
I did notice on the HTC Manila 2.5 demo video from Germany, in the Settings area, under 'Other', there was a setting for 'HTC Magnify'.
Uncertain of any further details, but it could be just what i am talking about, maybe!
Cheers to all

I don't disagree at all.
zoom as scroll and on manila start screen not only inside
I just wish the zoom ball zommed in on pictures (going towards center of picture) rather than how it works in opera (the upper left corner)
Bump...
Anybody anything?
i would be interested to know if this is possible too.
I would luv the zoom bar to wash my car and mow the lawns for me... any chance?
....LOL....
Yeah, the zoom bar is really under-utilized. I often forget it's there and go to screen -> larger text to increase my fonts... Guess it's because it only works in a few apps. Without realizing, I've gone to settings -> screens before I realize I have a zoom bar...
Would love to see some gurus here hack this to a mini d-pad, or at least and up/down arrow. Currently, I have the vol up/down to do this using AEB.
i agree with all of these .. we need a genius programmer to make some kind of super aeb where you could have different button profiles and set a shortcut to profiles on the homescreen .. my perfect setup would be to have zoom be able to switch open applications and somehow map the back conference mute thing to play/pause in music player .. or have zoom button be able to switch songs for you (like with screen off/lock on) and hold for running applications list ... then have it all skinned pretty like some translucent palm pre thing .... lol .. just dreaming..
games
they can also utilize in racing games like as steering wheel instead of touching the screen

Separate shortcuts to video/stills cams?

Is there a way of having separate shortcuts to the video and stills camera modes? I'd like to have quick 1-touch access to either the stills camera or the video camera, without having to go into the camera settings and select the mode once in the app.
Yes. spb Mobile Shell (well worth the money...get rid of Windows default and TouchFlo 3D). Once loaded just hold your finger down on the home screen to enter edit mode. Then click the + button in lower right corner. Then choose the Shortcut icon. hen choose Multimedia. Then choose Camera. Now you have the option of choosing either Photo or Video. I have the two icons side by side and can pull up either Camera or Video with the touch of one button.

Camera: Tap to focus and snap no longer works

What can be wrong? I've rooted and use G3's Tweaksbox. In camera settings, I just disabled shutter sounds and low battery warning. It no longer snaps instantly when tapping on the screen once focused.

I have the same tweaks on mine and working fine have you tried restarting the phone
Are you using the immersive mode? Without all the icons on screen. Tap to shoot should work then.
Warcow is right... U have to hide alll the icon in the camera's app to have touch to shoot working
Thanks everyone! That worked fine! Have to hide all the buttons
Now that this issue is settled.. got a question:
Does anyone know how to force navBar to show in camera? I hate how the back button on the camera is on the left, whereas I configured my back on the navBar to be on the right. while cycling back from sharing a photo, I tend to accidentally tap on the gallery icon on the cam.. as I keep tapping on the right side of my navBar (back).
Forcing the navBar to show would be the best solution though..
Hello guys!
I have problem like in TS.
Back camera don't focus.Use settings Mode->auto. Tap on screen and don't see focus. Tryed hide all icon on the top and with them, all foto without focus.
Front camera make beautiful foto.
It's "brak" camera?
Have Lg g3 F400k.

[Q] Quick Thread: Remove 90% toggle, add flashlight (xposed)

Hi, first post, great forum!
Thanks to this forum I managed to root and install xposed on my AT&T G3. VERY happy, and I highly recommend this.
There are two small issues that I'd like to change without changing the look a lot. I really enjoy the stock look and feel of the phone.
First is the brightness toggle in quick settings. Right now there are four settings. 0%, 50%, 90% and 100%. With 100% being labeled as such on the toggle. I'd like to remove the 90% option completely so it would just go from 50% to 100%. Is this possible without adding some entirely new quick settings app?
The other thing I'd like to do is add a flashlight to quick settings. Xposed allowed me to add one to the power on/off menu but that's as far as I could get.
Also, the two faces in selfie mode, what are those? It's definitely not dual camera. One mode they face each other, the other they face away. I can see no differences.
Thanks so much!

Hi. To answer your question about the "two faces" in the camera... If you set it to where they're facing each other, the camera will save the picture as flipped. This means that it will be a mirror image of what appears on the screen when you take the picture. If you set it where they face the same direction, the picture will save just as how you see it on the screen. Hope this helps!
If you have xposed download G3 Tweaks Box. You can add the brightness slider in as seen in my screenshot. Also if you hold volume up it will turn on the flashlight(one toy enable it). The tweaks box has a lot of great features just look around in it.
Here is the option for the flashlight.

Fullscreen apps in landscape mode

I figured out that here would be the best place to ask.
I am struggling with the crappy fullscreen mode in landscape - the area around the camera is always either black or white. Did some tests - the most of the apps to not utilize the screen, where only the notification bar (being on the long side in landscape mode) does. Strangely enough, Google Maps and Google Translate DO utilize the whole screen in landscape mode, where as hangouts or gmail don't. This is with setting for full screen apps.
Did some reading and it seems like there are 2 ways - either the app forces the fullscreen or the OEMs. Did some tests with my own app at it looks like the only way for the app to appear fullscreen is to be allowed in the app. Is that so?
Does Gmail also have this blank area on other phones?
As you say, some apps use the full area, others don't, I believe the issue resides in the apps, not the device
