ulm pie kernel source released! - LG V35 Guides, News, & Discussion

http://opensource.lge.com/osSch/list?types=NAME&search=v35

Wow, hope that we will see the kdz this week.

Forgive me for being a n00b, but what can skilled devs do with the the ulm pie kernel source? Will it enable custom roms? Root? TWRP?

TWRP and custom ROMs. But only if there's enough interest.

Bump! +1
I have interest, please and thank you.

Thanks! Do you know how outdated the following guide to ROM building is?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/chef-central/android/guide-android-rom-development-t2814763
Anything that is more update out there?
Cheers!

Man I hope this happens soon. As far as I know there is only a Korean Pie version, no ULM or AWM... so looking forward to at least the ULM, Fi version...

Really Need This
I am very looking forward to this. An optimal ROM can show all the power that a V35 ThinQ can do. Especially, it can be used on all V35 versions. for everyone to be able to experience. Sincere thanks to the developer ...

yes yes please lemme get a pie TWRP on this rooted, bootloader unlocked V35 thinQ. love it so far my God what a custom ROM could do for this great phone! with the right programs, its not far iff from a pixel experience as it is...

The bootlaoder can't be unlocked yet so no, there is no way you can put these or any AOSP ROMs on the G3.

I don't agree, with a 2nd init hack it can be done. For some sony devices with locked bootloader it was used.

Nope afaik
What about now?
The bootloader is already unlocked!!
waiting for cyanogen! it could be one of the best devices for it on the market
Bump! is available which is a bootloader work around, not an actual unlock. And there is a developer who is busy building a bunch of AOSP ROMs for the LG G3. Paranoid Android seams to be the closest to being finished.

Downgrade H815 (Taiwan Version) from MM TO LP?

Well, I thought buying this phone would end my terrible relationship with ATT's Note 4 for good... Hell it's even an H815 for christ sakes....
But it seems like it can't be rooted on MM due its bootloader being locked :/
Yes, I did try using the official unlock tool but, as some of you know it doesn't work for the Taiwan version (Just my luck).
However, I looked around and saw that the Lollipop version can have root/twrp installed WITHOUT unlocking the bootloader.
In conclusion, my question is............. will I be able to downgrade from MM to Lollipop?

From what I know the H815 model can be unlocked. But I think it's only the International one. There's an unofficial unlock in the works, just look around on the forums, haven't been that interested 'cause I'm rocking an International model

I tried using the Official unlock tool but, it doesn't support the Taiwan version, even though it's an H815 :/
I did see that an unofficial tool is in the works but I mean....I just came from an ATT note 4 ........
...........I've been playing the wait game ever since November of 2014......

I got help the other day on reddit:

It seems like the best I (we) can do is get root and flashfire.
No custom roms

Lollipop, or LP, is version 5.1. Just look at the KDZ files that are Android 5.1
Nope.

You have to downgrade to LP if you want root.
If you go to the thread, he explains it pretty well.

Well, moto live chat sayed that Ende if november oreo for g5 will be dropped. If u have bootloader unlicked, u cant update anyways, As it WILL hardbrick.
It's available on G5S Plus via Lineage OS n I'm assuming OTA Stock Update. Wonder if any of the Devs for G5 Lineage OS are in process of updating.
New to forums n XDA so not really sure how it works etc.

Are you sure that installing an OTA update with an unlocked bootloader will hard brick? It seems like the problem would be the custom recovery and not the unlocked bootloader.

Can anyone else confirm this? There is no reason just having the bootloader unlocked should break OTA.

p8tgames - thank you for the link. In fact, I have read many threads and I do not find clear or consistent answers. It seems to me that some of the problems are not necessarily related to the unlocked bootloader, but to a custom recovery or space issues. I thank you for trying to help out, but I am still not clear from your posts and those of others what the real source of trouble is.

New G4 owner, question on Root

HI, I have a H815P (on Nougat) got it for the great camera, and I know the bootloader cannot be unlocked but am I right to assume also that I therefore cannot root or flash any custom ROMs? thanks
I'm a recent H815P owner too and after searching for a few days I've come to the conclusion that it is impossible. That sucks for someone like me coming from a no-limits Galaxy S3.

Refer to the following thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/lg-g4-100-root-success-directives-root-t3180586
Note: Your ability to downgrade to 5.1 with LGUP-NEW will depend on the anti-rollback version of your current kdz ... google it on how to find out or start by clicking on steadfasterX's signature in any of his threads - he has listed all currently known in one of his threads.
