How to: Enable HDR mode - Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 Guides, News, & Discussion

We do indeed have HDR support, but it may be disabled by default and can only run on select apps.
1. Install a custom launcher like Nova or activities shortcut creator
2. Create an activities widget or gesture shortcut
3. Go to Settings
4. Find and select ’Video Enhancer’
5. Launch it and it will reveal the hidden setting
Alternatively, use the Magisk module HiddenSettings and modify the setting: hdr_effect 1
How to test if HDR is real:
Download an hdr video from 4kmedia.org. Change to full brightness and set screen mode to Adaptive. Hide navigation bar (use the quick shortcut). Play the video in the native video player. You'll then slowly swipe up on the Recents button, but without taking your finger off.
You should notice UI and graphics appear vivid. This indicates presence of gamma being applied. When you release your finger HDR is switched off. Saturation is a hue value, while gamma is brightness (how light or dark a pixel is). The real test would be to know if they are doing real-time processing, which is how actual HDR on TV works.

Hy is it possible doing this without using magisk ? or should we root the phone

Hello! I have the Ugoos UT8 Pro, android box. HDR only activates when watching an HDR video, but when the video is off, the screen goes back to SDR. This method you speak of, can it be done on my device to force enable HDR?

Full screen display tester - v1.4

Hi!
This is a simple display test tool which gives you the oportunity to test your LCD/OLED display. It is designed to allow full screen testing in ICS and Honeycomb devices by hiding the soft buttons.
Tests:
1.) Dead pixel test: detect "dead pixels" by displaying a series of solid background color pages
2.) Color tests: contrast, gradient (banding) and saturation tests
3.) Gamma calibration tests
4.) Viewing angle tests (This is useless for OLED displays)
For activate the soft key hiding in ICS/Honeycomb use the preferences menu.
Gestures:
* Slide left-right: change test image
* Slide up-down: change brightness
* Long touch: switch between full screen and normal screen (only Honeycomb & ICS)
Download it from the Google Play Store

Just did. And I'm happy to say my LTE GNex has no dead pixels. Do the two grey screens look dithered to anyone else? Is that an effect of the pentile screen?
I tried the app ... it is working as intended.
There is one typo on the last contrast test screen ... it is written "conrast"
v1.2 is on the market. Gamma calibration test added.
how do i read the gamma test to adjust my gamma levels?
Look at the gamma testing image, and take some bigger distance back from your GN's display such that you don't see the individual pixels/lines or squint your eyes. Now search for the vertical color bar which has the same lightness/darkness as the background color. If you found it, then just read the number written in that bar, and you have your GN's actual gamma value. It should be 2.2.
I don't think, you can change the gamma of the GN's display. Not with the stock kernel/system. (But I read about a sollution with a custom kernel and a custom app for that: Improve Screen Performance on the Galaxy Nexus.)
Upgraded to v1.3:
* Redesigned GUI
* Gamma test now works forr all kind of displays
* New LCD viewing angle test (pointless for OLED displays)
Very nice, thanks. My only difficulty is when the nav buttons are hidden it is very difficult to advance to the next screen. Maybe some use of a long press could make it easier?
Edit: after playing with it I got the hang of it a bit. First tap to make the buttons appear, then a quick swipe for the next screen before the buttons are covered again. Works for me now.
I can't download from the market it just hangs. Can you post the apk
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium App
New version v1.4 is on the Play Store.
Latest changes:
* Sliding gesture for brightness change added
* Long touch on screen schanges full screen/normal screen on Honeycomb/ICS devices
* App can be moved to SD card (of course not on GN)

GCam photos at night with Custom color RGB flash light (Without Root)

Asus has limited the use of Secondary RGB flash (which is the second flashlight, which never turns on by any means). It can only work if you have an armored number case. It is pretty much useless otherwise. There are apps developed for Customizing RGB flash but you need to root your device before doing anything.
But now, you can use that secondary colorful flashlight in Gcam while taking photos or videos and even in night sight
the only drawback is that you cannot use Gcam in fullscreen mode!!!
let's get into it:
prereqs
Make sure you are on the latest firmware version.
download and install gcam (Wichaya preferred)
Steps:-
1. Turn on system lighting from armoury crate
2. Set the screen on condition and choose static / color cycle or your preferred lighting condition
3. Select the color you want (if you selected static) and click save.
(check if the rog logo is lighted up)
4. open Calculator (you read that right) and type .12345+=
(your phone will enter SMMI test)
5. Find and select Aura and bump led at the bottom
6. click start After 5 cycles (Max) of RGB test the RGB flashlight will dance per condition
if you close this app the Bumper led will stop So...
7. go to recent page Select multitask window.(the RGB will pause momentarily Don't worry)
8. open Gcam it will open at the top or bottom of the screen and the RGB will function as long as you have the SMMI test app running at the top
9. Now you can shot beautiful pics with the color of your favorite as your Filter/ background without editing
10. Enjoy...
ASUS stock camera doesn't open in multiwindow mode. so we can't able to use that...

Question Is there any way to disable max brightness in Camera app ?

As title, whenever I open the Camera app, the brightness changed to max level, is there anyway to disable it ? Thanks
It is really inconvenient to hv forced max brightness when using stock camera app. I cannot find a way to turn it off, but you can temporarily fix by openning the cam app, scroll down from the top and adjust the brightness, then, the brightness will be normal until you restart the cam app. You may also consider to install Google Cam app mod, which is available here in XDA (thx for the developers)
You can override it using other app, called Applock. It has function to override app brightness setting. It also can lock your app using PIN, password and biometrics.
I just updated to Android 13 and the Camera app seems to fix this there's also a setting to activate/deactivate "more brightness" in Camera app

Themes / Apps / Mods [ROOT] Tune saturation, white balance and enable HBM on your Pixel!

[BIG UPDATE]
User Adrian got inspired by this and created a Magisk module to make things even easier and without the need to keep apps running on background, check it out!

Hey!
I'm in love with my Google Pixel 6 Pro, however, I don't like the screen at all, I wanted to be able to customize how it looks.
Been looking for a way to modify how it looks, CF.lumen fixed the white balance, Sa2ration changes the saturation of your display, you can decrease it all you want, or make it as saturated as you want.
All this apps should/may work on other devices too.
CF.lumen - Apps on Google Play
Adapts your screen's colors based on sun's position, sleep pattern, and sensors
play.google.com
[ROOT] Sa2ration - Apps en Google Play
Alterar su saturación en Android Oreo (descripción leída!)
play.google.com
[Paid app, HBM to use the max brightness of the device without auto brightness]
Enable HBM in app and then enable and disable auto brightness in phone settings, not app settings, that way you will have the absolute maximum brightness of the display, you can enable on the app settings restore hbm after screen off to have it at max brightness always. *There is a QS hbm toggle too*
High Brightness Mode - Apps on Google Play
See your screen in bright sunshine. High brightness mode for your phone
play.google.com
For CF.lumen, enable location, set permissions for the app and do the following:
1 - Location, tap to update or input manually any location, that's only to avoid crashes when manually changing white balance, disable location after that if you don't need it.
2 - Master filter mode, custom, there you can modify RGB values to your taste, I use 0.955 on Red, 0.975 on Green, 1.000 on Blue, but feel free to try until you enjoy how it looks.
Now, for Sa2ration, after installing, simply move the slider until you like that you have, if it does not change, use the setting "enable color management" it's kinda glitchy and may requiere it or not on your device, I use 1.10, really like how it looks!
[Bonus, under developer settings, you can fully hide the display cutout, I also recommend to set the dpi to 410-430 with or without cutout as it will make some landscape animations a single slide instead of two, try pulling down notification panel when landscape mode, try all animations 0.5x too, you may like how it looks, if you see an app crashing disable developer settings as it may create issues like that sometimes]
[Bonus 2, try Iconify magisk module, you can customize your Pixel with that, even enable pure dark oled theme, thanks to Facundo Holzmeister from @howtomen on tiktok!]

Hey, the only way to customize it is to use the service.sh file and modify it before flashing. That's all I know so far.
