GCam photos at night with Custom color RGB flash light (Without Root) - ASUS ROG Phone II Guides, News, & Discussion

Asus has limited the use of Secondary RGB flash (which is the second flashlight, which never turns on by any means). It can only work if you have an armored number case. It is pretty much useless otherwise. There are apps developed for Customizing RGB flash but you need to root your device before doing anything.
But now, you can use that secondary colorful flashlight in Gcam while taking photos or videos and even in night sight
the only drawback is that you cannot use Gcam in fullscreen mode!!!
let's get into it:
prereqs
Make sure you are on the latest firmware version.
download and install gcam (Wichaya preferred)
Steps:-
1. Turn on system lighting from armoury crate
2. Set the screen on condition and choose static / color cycle or your preferred lighting condition
3. Select the color you want (if you selected static) and click save.
(check if the rog logo is lighted up)
4. open Calculator (you read that right) and type .12345+=
(your phone will enter SMMI test)
5. Find and select Aura and bump led at the bottom
6. click start After 5 cycles (Max) of RGB test the RGB flashlight will dance per condition
if you close this app the Bumper led will stop So...
7. go to recent page Select multitask window.(the RGB will pause momentarily Don't worry)
8. open Gcam it will open at the top or bottom of the screen and the RGB will function as long as you have the SMMI test app running at the top
9. Now you can shot beautiful pics with the color of your favorite as your Filter/ background without editing
10. Enjoy...
ASUS stock camera doesn't open in multiwindow mode. so we can't able to use that...

How to: Enable HDR mode

We do indeed have HDR support, but it may be disabled by default and can only run on select apps.
1. Install a custom launcher like Nova or activities shortcut creator
2. Create an activities widget or gesture shortcut
3. Go to Settings
4. Find and select ’Video Enhancer’
5. Launch it and it will reveal the hidden setting
Alternatively, use the Magisk module HiddenSettings and modify the setting: hdr_effect 1
How to test if HDR is real:
Download an hdr video from 4kmedia.org. Change to full brightness and set screen mode to Adaptive. Hide navigation bar (use the quick shortcut). Play the video in the native video player. You'll then slowly swipe up on the Recents button, but without taking your finger off.
You should notice UI and graphics appear vivid. This indicates presence of gamma being applied. When you release your finger HDR is switched off. Saturation is a hue value, while gamma is brightness (how light or dark a pixel is). The real test would be to know if they are doing real-time processing, which is how actual HDR on TV works.
Hy is it possible doing this without using magisk ? or should we root the phone

Hello! I have the Ugoos UT8 Pro, android box. HDR only activates when watching an HDR video, but when the video is off, the screen goes back to SDR. This method you speak of, can it be done on my device to force enable HDR?

[APP] Arc Lighting - Custom Navigationbar for Galaxy Note 10 (hide chin)

(note to galaxy note 10 users set samsung navigatiomode to gesturemode then go into arc lighting and move the buttons up vertically as they are outside of view using gesture mode will make the bar much thinner than normal, force navbar color to black then change the buttons to a line and push them to the edge, this will hide the chin by causing an illusion of the button being closer to the edge than it actually is, the upside to this is that you both get gesturebased navigation and tapbased, by forcing button size it's also relatively easy to hit the buttons)
Download (xda members get free access, will provide unlock codes to any xda member who asks)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.symetium.arclightingnavigationbar

i wanted to update everyone on what happened, the app simply died because the developer i worked with simply vanished, i wanted to post this as many of you have noticed i haven't sent out free codes as i should to xda members, my app arc lighting which i put years of my life in including money died, the person i worked with just disappeared, i am not accusing him he said he had corona so i am trying not to think anything i tried to be considerate but i asked whats been happening, i paid money last year to make changes to the app changes which haven't been made and it ended up just dying because it's broken
the last few days i received strange emails from someone claiming they have the sourcecode for something and wanting to sell it to me but they never said for what so i asked what this was about they refused and eventually when i said i'm not interested i received this

i've had contacts with admins on this website who promoted my app, and some people have helped me in the past i wonder if anyone can help me as i am clueless on what to do, the developer i did work with simply is missing, and i don't believe he would do anything to me, i know two people who have the sourcecode, and i do trust them so i don't really know whats happening, i also have no idea why anyone would even want the sourcecode, the functionality is 5% of competing apps that does exactly the same thing, what people seem to like is my ui design and that can easily be copied.

[APP] Arc Lighting - Notification Light for Oneplus Nord

Arc Lighting adds a highly customizable ring of light around the camera cutout of your phone. You can use this light with various indicators such as audio visualization, notification lighting, critical or low battery warnings, as well as a charge indicator. The ring can also appear on your Always-On display. (to make aod work you need to make sure you have downloaded always on amoled and activated it, you also need to make sure samsung stock aod and samsung edge lighting is disabled under samsung display settings you also need to make sure that aod is enabled under arclighting with override set to off)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FibMTD5Mdx8
Features:
- Highly customizable lighting for the Galaxy S10, S10+, S10e, and Note 10. Select a variety of colors, animations, and styles. (nord is not officially supported but the app now comes with a custom alignment adjuster so it should now be supported by just adjusting this under cutout settings make sure realtime adjustment is set to off when you're finished any help on official support will be granted a tier 5 code)
- Always show ring with various gradient effects (add multiple colors and make them spin for a visual experience)
- An adjustable glow effect that can be turned on or off (sometimes this can cause the light to freeze to a white glow this will be fixed)
- Notification lighting both when the display is on or off (update planned for only the lockscreen or only inapp)
- Music lighting that syncs the light to your music (does not work together with other indicators so other indicators will stop working if you enable music lighting this will be fixed)
- Battery indicator lighting for charging, low and critical battery states. (note it will not work until you configure the zones you want the colors to appearm, not configuring zones can freeze the light entirely this will be fixed)
- Device overheating indicator for gamers and power users (note it will not work until you configure the zones you want the colors to appear, not configuring zones can freeze the light entirely this will be fixed)
- Arc Lighting can be configured to match the color of your wallpaper, the app you're currently in, or both! (this only works for the only show ring and only when you set it to a solid color the option is not available for gradient colors which will be added later)
This app requires certain permissions to function correctly.
Accessibility: This permission is used for the ring to appear over your lock screen, always-on display, and for accessing the color of the current app you're in. This permission is required for the app to function properly.
Draw Over Other Apps: This permission allows the ring to show on top of other apps. This permission is required for the app to function properly.
Microphone Access: This permission is used to analyze the internal device audio for the music lighting. You will not be asked for this permission unless you choose to enable the Audio Visualizer indicator for the ring.
Storage Access: This permission is used to get the color of your wallpaper. You will not be asked for this permission unless you choose to use the color of your wallpaper for the ring.
Notification access: This permission is used to change the color of the ring after notifications
Burn-in concerns: Some Android displays may suffer from mild burn-in if a single item is displayed on the screen for an extremely significant amount of time. If you are concerned about this, feel free to enable the rotation animation in ring settings. That will ensure the display is constantly changing. Alternately, you can disable the default effect to only show the ring while an indicator is being triggered. Note: Samsung Galaxy devices come with burn-in protection that moves the pixels a little each time.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
how do i disable individual notifications: currently this is a planned update, you can go into custom colors and set each app you don't want notifying to 100% transparent
light is constantly flashing even if i cleared all notifications: sometimes theres forced notifications such as when you're charging it will force a notification that says you're fast charging, the light will pick up on these you need to hold on these notifications and turn them off to stop the light there should be nothing at all in the notificationpanel, if you still have a flashing light with nothing in the panel contact me.
frozen light: music lighting will disable all other indicators same with battery indicator or battery temp indicator, you need to set custom zones otherwise the light will be frozen, glow also tends to freeze the light so turn that off if it's frozen (this will be fixed in a coming update)
I will test the app as soon as I have the phone tomorrow
This could be exactly what I'm looking for! Could I get an activation key for both please ?

I've tried the free version, for now. Can't seem to get the ring elipse-shaped to go around the front camera, also the app keeps crashing on my Nord
Hello,
application works but notification ring appears at the top middle. Could you send me activation code.
App installed but I can't see battery indicator. We need something different from a circle to surround two cameras.. It's possible?
Activation code please.
i like the idea a lot and love the feature where i can preview position etc. But, can it support shapes other than circle? Node does not have circle camera on front. i was hoping that i can overlay on the outer edge of front camera.
Trial time expires, hasn't been able to move ring to the cameras, got notification ring but on the center

Looks to work but I can only get it to display a circle ring, which didn't help on a twin camera!
i bought the premium version but can't really use it cause of the shape of the ring. How can i change the shape that it fits the OneplusNord Cam?

Hardware test (RGB flash)

I have a speaker issue with my rog 2. I asked about speaker replacement from Asus. They have sent me hardware troubleshooting details for that. It was cool, as you get to check if every hardware works fine.
Rog 2 is packed with many features like (air triggers, RGB flash, RGB logo notification, good stereo speakers, dual vibration, and so on) that you won't get in other flagships. If you are rocking 8 GB variant. You won't probably have an armored bumper case. So you won't possibly know that the secondary RGB flash is working or not.
Find out in this way
(Make sure that you have enabled system lighting in armory crate)
1. Open calculator (there is secret access in it)
2. Type .12345+=
3. That's it, you are in
Find the RGB section at the bottom of those hardware tests
And see the RGB light comes to life (maybe for the first time)
You can check only the primary colors with that!
Edit: You can set any colors now
Cool, thanks for posting. Mine didn't have an RGB test. Maybe because I'm on an older version ?(SMMI TEST v6.0.74) I don't really care about the RGB anyway.
RGB works only on latest SMMI Version (v6.0.89 or newer)
Thanks to MyronAz for pointing that out
This Mod can customize the RGB Flash and Logo.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/rog-phone-2/themes/app-asus-rog-phone-2-rgb-t4124299
hey guys check this out, If you need the secondary rgb with custom colors (other than RGB) without root. Just go to lighting condition from armoury crate and turn on "Screen On" condition set it to static and choose any colour you want and close the app. Now go to SMMI test and follow the post
the lights will blink as per the test and in between those intervals your selected colour will flash. and after (5 max) you will get the selected colour will flash as long as you keep your screen on and in SMMI

General [experimental, probably useless?] Guide: how to spoof P6P (Raven) to P7P (Cheetah) and get new camera feature

First of all I'm not sure if this method is common knowledge around here or not, but I didn't see any posts about this, so I thought I'd share my findings.
I realize most people don't care about this stuff but it's a little experiment I did on my P6P, mostly for fun, and also because well, we don't know for sure if previous Pixels will get ANY feature from the 7 series.
And yes I know that at some point, we are most likely gonna get modded GCam builds that bring us some of the features from the Pixel 7 series.
Working features:
- faster Night Sight with exposure slider (choose between default/longer exposure time), works on all lenses (wide, main, tele, selfie).
- portrait mode (no apparent changes in functionality)
- video (no apparent changes)
Broken/not working properly:
- cinematic mode: it does record and Google Photos does recognize videos that were taken in this mode as "Cinematic", BUT no blur is applied whatsoever.
- switching lenses in CAMERA (normal) mode: cannot switch to ultra wide or telephoto for some reason. Switching the lenses works in video and Night sight modes.
- 10-bit HDR: Yep, this one doesn't work either. Viewfinder becomes completely black when 10 bit HDR is enabled...
Before we get started, here's what you need:
- a rooted Pixel 6 Pro (obviously )
- MagiskHideProps module, can be found here : https://github.com/Magisk-Modules-Repo/MagiskHidePropsConf/releases
- Termux app
- printslist file (.zip containing the file is attached to this post)
- latest Google Camera .apk https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...ra-8-7-165-479933554-19-android-apk-download/ (get the SPLIT version, it can be installed with SAI - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aefyr.sai&hl=en&gl=US)
Now that we've got everything we need, how do we do this?:
1. First thing you gotta do is take the "printslist" file from the printslist.zip and simply place it at the root of your storage.
2. Next, open up Termux. Type "su" and press enter. Now type "props" and the Magiskhideprops menu will appear.
3. What we want to do now is change the device's fingerprint to the Pixel 7 Pro one. Type "1" and press enter. Now "f" to "pick a certified fingerprint".
4. A long list of phone brands will appear. We are looking to add a CUSTOM fingerprint, the one that's in the "printslist" file we moved earlier. "3" is the command for "Custom" fingerprint. Press enter, and finally, type "1" to pick Google Pixel 7 Pro. Type "y" and enter.
5. When asked whether you want to reboot for changes to take effect, choose "n" (we'll reboot in the next steps)
6. Now go back to the main menu of MagiskHideProps, using "b" (three times to be exact).
7. The option we're interested in now, is Device Simulation. Enter "3".
8. In device simulation, enter "s" and then "y" to enable basic device simulation.
9. Finally, type "1,2,3" (with commas) in order to select ro.product.brand, ro.product.name, and ro.product.device.
10. Enter "1" to enable. And now you can pick the option to reboot.

10. Enter "1" to enable. And now you can pick the option to reboot.

I hate this, how do I get my working camera back?!?!?!?!!!111
Easy peasy, all you gotta do is disable Device Simulation. You disable it the same way you enable it. Just enter "3" in the main menu of MagiskHideProps within Termux. I'm sure you can figure out the next steps.

Can I use this for my pixel 6?

I think it's something to do with needing some exclusive on-device app to enable it.
Ah okay here's what's missing.
- Macro Mode
- 10 bit HDR
- EIS Zoom (see this video here
).
The pixel 7 pro engages EIS when you zoom to 15x which this does, but fails to lock in
- Zoom ML upscaler (look in Google Super Res Zoom blog, it engages at 20x zoom)
That's what I noticed, could be wrong
I cannot really test Fusion Zoom just yet as well. Blog post here https://blog.google/products/pixel/super-res-zoom-google-pixel
It does have a better zoom UI imo
You can try to use BSG's gcam, set the model to Pixel 7 Pro, and the UI interface will be completely changed to be consistent with 7Pro. 10-bit HDR sometimes "works" for me, it outputs a video with the HDR logo in Google Photos but mostly it's the other way around and I can't confirm if the HDR video captured this way is real.

The 10 bit HDR will activate, but it doesn't produce a 10 bit HDR video (based on my findings)
