non root adblockers always get disabled on this device - Xiaomi Mi 9 SE Questions & Answers

whats the trick pelase for the mi 9 se?
tried block this and dns66 as well, non rooted, they always get turned off or turn off themselves?
thx for any tipp to get adblock non rooted working)

You need to lock an app into memory. Menu/last apps button, hold an app, tap the padlock.
Or
Install Miui Hidden Settings app from playstore, set private dns: dns.adguard.com

great, thx
should be done with antivirus and fitness tracker apps that are wanted permanent too then?

[APP] Cisco Anyconnect VPN for Android

Don't know if everyone knows this. Cisco Anyconnect app is available in the Android market. You will find two different versions, one that says is for Samsung devices and the other says it is for rooted devices (no mention of brand).
I downloaded the one for rooted devices, installed correctly, and after complaining that the tun.k module was not found, I loaded it in the kernel and the app is working just fine.
tip: If you're on a kernel that has tun support just open a terminal and type:
su
modprobe tun
profit (no I'm kidding, don't type that
that's it.
My phone is running non-stock (Darky 9.5, Dark Core 2.4), i9000T from Mexico.
EDIT: Cisco...phew....they think they're the center of the universe. The VPN app places an icon up in the notification area and it stays there even when you're not using the VPN connection. Sometimes those guys can be so annoying.
Control notifications
Hello,
Thank you for the information, I searched a while ago and am happy to see that they released it after all
But this notification thing is so annoying that I download it to use it when I really need it and then uninstall it... Kind of a p*** in the a**...
SO, I was wondering, does anyone knows a way to disable notifications for a specific application ?
Or an app that would manage that, maybe an app that would control the permissions given to the applications (if the ability to display notifications needs a specific permission..) ?
Thank you
Yeah, it's a royal pain in the butt. Simple way to get rid of it is just force close the app. Go to settings-> Applications -> Downloaded and look for Anyconnect there and force close. When you need it again just run it as a normal app.
I keep it on my tablet but tbh uninstalled it from my phone.
That app still on?

Block YouTube ads on unrooted FTV?

Does anyone know how to block YouTube ads on an unrooted Fire TV? I tried installing ABP but I couldn't set the proxy in the network settings. There doesn't seem to be an option for that. Any help would be appreciated. TIA.
ABP on Android requires root for hosts file access.
I have a good one for WiFi (no root required) that I am still using since the other blocker apps (which require root/I have root access) started failing to block the ads.
https://app.usb0.net/wifiadblock.en.html
Read all of the details on the page,it is a good read before clicking the link to the download page.
And yes,I know the screen images are not in english,I can confirm that I have used this amazing app with no issues.
It works perfectly fine on my FireTV,even before getting root!!!
It even worked via SDK on the unrootable GTV I used to have,my original time I found the app!
A few minor issues that can be easily avoided, after getting it working properly,it can sometimes refresh your connection to update the blocker condition.
You can simply enable the blocker, exit the app,and then "force stop" it to keep it from causing random and brief disconnections to update the condition.
For the issue that it fails to work at first, you may need to let it modify your settings so it can change your DNS numbers to the ones it uses for blocking the ads.
This is the main thing it needs for the ability to block ads.
Edit: It will usually take a few moments before your FireTV is connected to internet again because it is doing the changes for blocking not only YouTube ads,but many more ads including ones found in other Android apps.
(excluding apps like 7zipper since they are self promoting ads for the devs other apps)
Good luck!
5.0.5 broke the adblocking from WiFi AdBlocker. Can anyone suggest another alternative for this? Thanks.
Bump

I followed the instuctions here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64838026&postcount=5
The DNS numbers were 192.71.245.222 and 107.161.162.216
I can confirm having manually entered them I am no longer seeing ads.

Device care lameness

So as one can see, i got a lot of apps on my device and since device care couldn't come with the option to select all for adding apps to put to sleep, it's an extreme headache. As you can see from the screenshots, i get this message like once a month or so and it changes all my sleeping apps list and adds them to deep sleeping which I don't want. Is there a way to disable this thing?
Putting apps to sleep ie using any power management can cause erratic behavior even more battery usage.
Start by using Karma Firewall (Playstore) to lock it down as needed and PD MDM to disable the apks that are causing trouble.
Home - Package Disabler
The only NON-root solution that let’s you disable any unwanted packages that come pre-installed / installed with your phone / tablet.

Can you elaborate please? I used to use greenify ages back but that isn't supported anymore. I am okay with device care, i just want it to stop checking for non used apps itself, cause i did it all manually and don't need apps to be added to any list automatically

You don't have to use Device Care, if you should be able to disable after you pick the power setting and enable fast charging, those changes will still remain in force.
I'm running on Pie and have a earier, more user friendly version of Device Care on my 10+.
Q and especially 11 are going to be major headaches. The logging feature on Karma Firewall is disabled by them I believe.
It still will block internet connections but you can't monitor what app and how many times it is accessing the internet like I can on Pie.
There may be a ADB workaround, not sure.
Sorry but Q and above are bloody nightmares...

Need help with locking apps

With Covid, we've been forced to hand this device to my 8y/o brother during classes, which is not a good thing since he plays games and watches videos in the background during his classes.
We've tried the app-lock available in the phone but he bypasses any and all locks using Focus Mode (which I haven't found a way to permanently disable yet). Any other app-lock apps seem to not work at all on this device (while they work fine on other devices, even after giving device admin and allowing drawing over other apps).
The few apps that worked, he uninstalls them easily. I WISH I could remove YouTube and the other apps from this device, but we don't have my laptop with me for that. Additionally, the App Vault and other homescreen-related options being easily accessible in the settings panel on Home (and not locked by the default AppLock even when Settings is locked) does NOT help at all.
Any ideas? Please, I'm desperate at this point.
PS. The device is Redmi Note 8

Question Google Assistant: Cannot reach Google at the moment.

My Google Assistant suddenly stopped working. Whenever I tried to issue a command, it returns "Cannot reach Google at the moment.".
Tried in my old phone, there are no problems.
Tried restarting but the problem still persists.
Anyone experienced this? Any solution?
HI YOU HAVE MANY WAYS TO FIX THAT
1-TRY FORCE CLOSE GOOGLE ASSISTANCE AND CLEAR ALL DATA AND CACHE .
2-IF YOU ARE USING A DATA PACKAGE ,USE A VPN
IF THOSE METHODS DON'T WORK UNINSTALL APP AND REINSTALL IT

Tried, didn't work.
Same here, brand new Pixel 6. Go into Assistant settings, scroll all the way down to "Your Apps (manage how Assistant works with installed apps)." Click on the Chrome browser and make sure "let your assistant choose this browser" is checked on. THEN, in the same settings, go to whatever other browsers you have installed and UNCHECK those.
Apparently Assistant got confused by too many options. (it might work if you check another browser and uncheck Chrome, but I quit playing with it once it was working again.)

Did this one but didn't work. Also, I only have Chrome as browser so I guess this isn't the problem.

Tried uninstalling, rebooting and re-updating the Google app. The Assistant is working again but Continued Conversations doesn't work. There were also times after I did this, the problem returned.
I had the same problem yesterday and fixed it by doing the following:
Google app->settings->Google Assistant->Assistant Voice-> and switch Phone to full.
I also purchased universal safetynet fix 2.2 and now pass Safetynet. Did both in conjunction with each other so that combo should work if you are rooted with the correct Magisk Canary.

ok i forgot to off capital letteres
I have struggled with this recently. Here's what worked for me. I noticed that on cellular it worked, but on my WiFi it did not although it had in the past. The trick was to go into WiFi settings and tell it not to randomly change the Mac address (use Device MAC). I suppose that -- maybe only with some routers -- the changing MAC is upsetting the NAT translation and your phone is making an outbound connection but that's just a theory.
I had the same problem, had used adaway and blocked some dns requests, cleared these and Hey Google worked again. Cheers.
Usually, the only times I have trouble with the Assistant this way are when I get in my car, hook it up for Android Auto, and in my driveway, I'm kinda in range of my Wi-Fi but not very well. It doesn't usually take very long for my phone to switch to mobile data on its own in this situation (and it took my Samsung way longer), but once it establishes a reliable connection via mobile data, then it's fine.
Necro'd thread to post POSSIBLE FIX:
Go into Developer options and disable 'App Wi-Fi Multi/Broadcasting Filter'. I'd turned it on randomly and forgotten, and have been suffering ever since. Turning it back off allows the app to connect to the internet, despite your phone being locked until standby.
Going off to cross-post this elsewhere because I've searched SO many pages trying to find a fix, and nobody mentioned trying this.
