Probably LG G8 variant.
With the early 2017 LG G6, only several months later did LG release the G6 Plus as a separate phone. It had all the features ALL the LG G6 should have had (more storage, Qi wireless charging, quad DAC), instead of regional-izing the specs like the initial LG G6 had. For instance the U.S. LG G6 only had 32GB storage and no quad DAC (and 2016 Snapdragon) -- while other region variants had more storage but no Qi wireless charging. You couldn't buy an LG G6 with ALL the touted features! Then, MONTHS LATER, in Korea LG released a "better" version of the LG G6 called the LG G6 Plus -- which is why many people hate LG. The people who bought the LG G6 were suckers.
Then, the late 2017 LG V30 was basically what the early 2017 LG G6 should have been -- had ALL the features AND 2017 Snapdragon.
LG is probably doing the same for the LG G8. Releasing a "better" version to make people feel stupid for buying the early version.

Well, unfortunately opening folders with pictures in stock Gallery app is seriously laggy compared to the Oreo. I am even considering 3rd party (offline) Gallery app. Maybe Gallery Go from Google.

How did you apply the update? Flashable zip? Using LGUp? Did you factory reset?

Now I got the update OTA but wonder: what is the big difference? Really don't see much.

No one said there would be a big difference.
Everyone just demanded Pie. So LG is giving Pie.
Luckily since we don't have notch, LG is not forcing the stupid clock on the left side thing, where notifications go. So that's good they left that alone.

Via LG Bridge.
No I did not factory reset. Dont have any major issue worth a time restoring everything. Every other Gallery/Photos app is perfectly fluid. Battery seems to be fine as well, so will see. If something major pop up I will do FR.

I am very glad that volume keys still change ringtone and not media (and it can even be changed to act like standard pie - adjusting media instead of ringtone)

The fact there realising newer phones every 5 seconds!!!. I am finding the G5 to be one, if not one of the worse unstable phones I have ever had!.
I had the G4 before and then changed to the G5 when it came out 3/4 months ago (think it was when it was first released in UK?). The Google screen (when you swipe left) always says that "Launcher 3 Has Stopped working" and also call quality is bad with calling people.. (from what they have said lol).
I don't think it's a faulity device, as I have done full system reset and not really into rooting etc.. I just can't believe how buggy the phone is and as mentioned. Even when I bought it brand new/factory sealed. There was no updates. It's as though they don't care as there more bothered about the other handsets in the Moto series!.

Hello All.
I'm on reteu software channel and yesterday I have recieved an OTA update that contains some improvement and android security patch 1 march. All went well except that it totally failed to install, first it tried to boot back, but froze when starting android window popped up, then I had to reboot it manually and then it ended up on a recovery screen showing error.
After the third reboot it managed to restart properly but gapps had been reset to default.
This is an xt1676 3gb ram model, with locked bootloader.
New build version Npp25.13-72
It is possible that this was an isolated case, but wanted to warn you guys

Another Sweet Security Patch (No Oreo In Next Update)

Yes There's an announcement u might Won't Like

Yup!! Got the update atleast there is a security update.
Got April security patch for Moto g5s plus in India. But no Oreo updates.
My recommendation....once officially updated into Oreo...give it away to any family or friend member and go with HTC or Google not Motorola anymore....unless you dont care at all about updates....bless you guys!

Same. Never buying a Motorola phone again. Poor camera+slow updates have killed it to me.
Moto is dead. After falcon, the downfall began, Lenovo was the finishing touch. I agree, save a little more and get a front line device.

First of all, the title of that topic is imprecise (it does not say about the APRIL update but about the "SWEET" update - what is it?!)
Secondly, there are only 2 posts talking about a possible coming, without any particulars that someone has already received.
That is why this topic is better.

No other company except Nokia is providing Oreo update to its midrange smartphones.
Nokia also sells overpriced smartphones.
(i.e. Nokia 6) then they provide quick updates.
Motorola will provide oreo to G Series.
and G Series is more value for money.

True. Our device gets regularly security patches, will get Oreo soon, offers great hardware with an almost vanilla android OS for round about 200€.
It's my second Motorola and it won't be my last.
The only device coming to my mind that offers good value for that price is from Huawei (Honor) and I won't swap to a chinese device with worse update intervals.
This is a midrange phone, if someone wants Oreo at once he should buy a Pixel or a OP5. I'm not willing to spend that amount of money.

Twrp flashable builds, especially when deodexed won't find any OTA because they aren't official firmware anymore. That's good because any OTA would hardbrick your device.
The only thing you can do is ask the dev of your ROM to update the source to the latest available full firmware which is as far as I know 93-4 or (92-4 for India) containing january security patch. These are full firmwares, not just as an OTA patch.

The g8 is a hard pass from me sadly. I wanted to upgrade from my g6 but there's almost ZERO reason to upgrade minus the 855 which I'm sure the LG slow ass skin will kill anyhow. I've my g6 and it was huge upgrade over my g3. But I still miss the curved back of my g3. Pixel 4 hopefully won't let me down like the g8 has

Question One ui 5 link needed for S901U

Has anyone captured the link for One Ui 5 on s901u?
If you have enrolled in One Ui 5 beta for s901u and haven't downloaded the update yet, you can try to capture the link easily by using the following instructions.
How to capture the update.zip file to share with other people:
1. Download HTTP canary app
2. Open HTTP Canary app
3. Start the update by pressing "download" and don't pause it
4. Go back to canary app and start it and it will grab the link for you
I got in to the beta. I have a Galaxy S22 from T-Mobile. Unfortunately, I don't know how to capture an update zip. Sorry I wasn't able to help out.

Given that you said T-Mobile, I'm assuming yours is a Snapdragon model. I should still ask, how's the performance on A13? The lag on the Exynos model is kililng me, and its an probably OS version agnostic problem, but I thought I should ask.

It has been great. I'm not seeing any lag. The only issue I have is sometimes my 5G is slow at work but that is because there is no signal in parts of the building.
It does seem to be a bit snappier than my Pixel 6 Pro. I have had my Pixel 6 Pro on bit A12 and the A13 beta. Too bad the S22 Ultra costs so much or I would have got that one. This 6.1" screen is gonna take getting used to, especially coming from a OnePlus 10 Pro on the line that I have the S22 on.

Wish that would've been my experience. Latest stable update (august A12) and this phone is still slower than a god damned S4 mini.
On the screen side, I had wanted to get something smaller after the OnePlus 6t so I'm fine with the 6.1". Cameras are good, display is good, battery life is ok, audio is good, but the SoC (or its firmware/drivers/whatever) is horrendous. Worst phone I've owned in a decade.
Hi,
I've used HttpCanary to capture the update link, however I am on an unlocked variant of the S22 (S901U1). I hope this helps in your findings. This is on the MetroPCS CSC (TMK), however it should auto-switch CSCs.

I've used HttpCanary to capture the update link, however I am on an unlocked variant of the S22 (S901U1). I hope this helps in your findings. This is on the MetroPCS CSC (TMK), however it should auto-switch CSCs.

yeah, this is good. I was just asking because I tried update via alliance shield and it failed, probably because I was on the g6 build. Thanks very much.

AVG8 still didn't work for me to install the one ui 5 update. I decided go go back to AVF7 build and try it and it worked perfectly now.
If you will, you can capture future one ui 5 update link and post them here. Thanks for your help.
Huh, that's interesting. I can see if it'll let me downgrade and then capture another update for you? I'll let you know.

I'd just tried to see if I could downgrade and it wants me to wipe all of my data again, though I have a backup it'd take a long time to restore. So I'll try to get it as soon as I can, if not a future OneUI 5 update.
Have you tried using the
Code:
adb sideload
function? I'm not sure if that'd work but you have to rename the .bin to "update.zip" and sideload it, and then it's installed if it all goes right.

Oh no! You don't need to do any of that, I said it worked in my earlier reply, I'm now on one ui 5. Thanks.

I believe this may be it. I just reupdated to OneUI 5 and it seems to have pulled the latest. I hope this helps.

S901U1 is not S901U. U1 is unlocked, U is carrier. Be careful. You might need a modded Odin or be very selective about the slots you flash.
